freds giveaway 1

Someone has had a runny nose (or more) in our house for at least 4 weeks.  This is just life in a house with 7 people.  The best way to embrace life is to be ready for it.  Have your medicine cabinet ready for anything you need.  I would also recommend having tissues, and some disinfectant wipes/spray stocked up too!  The last thing you want is to run out of the cleaning supplies…

To help us get ready, fred’s Pharmacy recently sent a $20 gift card with the challenge of seeing just how stocked we could get for cold & flu season.  I’ll confess that I had not shopped in a fred’s for a long time, so it was fun to walk in with fresh eyes to a new store.  They are larger than I expected carrying items from household and automotive to clothing, food, and personal care.  They even have movies (that’s for another post though).

For today we were on a mission to check out the personal care section and there supply of over-the-counter medications.  They sell a large selection of national brands but also have matching fred’s brand products too.  I was slightly amazed at the prices of the fred’s products!

For the $20 they sent, I got all of the items above (except the Allegra) plus:

fred’s Benadryl, 24 ct., $2
fred’s Facial Tissues, 3 ct., $2
Lysol Wipes, 35 ct., $3

That was 7 products for $20!  I didn’t “need” any of them this week, but it’s great to have them on hand.   If you are wanting to create a well stocked medicine cabinet these are things I would have in it (putting on my RN hat for second):

Benadryl
Hydrocortisone Cream
Acetaminophen (Tylenol) & Ibuprophen (Advil)
Pseudoephedrine or another decongestant
Throat Spray or Lozenges

I also don’t do colds with out night time medicine, but that’s not a necessity for everyone probably… I’m just a wimp.

Wanna try your hand at putting together an entire cold & flu season medicine cabinet for $20?  fred’s is giving 5 readers a $20 gift card to grab these items (or anything else you want) from your local store.  They have locations all over the US.
