To stay healthy, I exercise by walking the treadmill a half hour each day. My cardiologist told me exercise is the best thing you can do for your heart. I also watch what I eat, trying to avoid fats and particularly trans fats. I try to keep my weight down as well. I try to include at least five fruits and vegetables each day in my diet. Last, but not least, I make sure that I take all the medicines my doctor has told me to take.

I was diagnosed with high cholesterol five years ago at age 23. It was very surprising because I don’t eat a lot of fatty foods! Since then I’ve made an effort to eat healthier, making sure that I eat a lot of fruits and vegetables. I also walk on my treadmill for half an hour at least four days a week and do yoga once or twice a week. My cholesterol is now back in the healthy range! :)

i love mixing honey nut cheerios and banana cheerios together. i can always find coupons for cheerios. that really helps also it helps when i can get my coupon doubled. i love your site!!!! i love having the deals and coupons put together for me……lol

After 3 kids and hitting the big 30 I realized my body required a lot more attention than I was giving it. I know you all understand- being a wife and mom, your “me” time is well non-existent most of the time. That is why I was OVERJOYED when our church, Celebration Baptist of Yulee, Florida,joined a Family Driven Softball League. Growing-up, softball was a big part of my life. So, I signed-up immediately. Boy was it a work-out. I learned I had muscles in places I never knew existed!! Softball really made me feel alive in different way. About the same time my husband bought me a Wii Fit. This thing is awesome. It allows me to have a TRUE WORKOUT while my little man mimics me. I don’t have to leave home or my kids and I can do it whenever I want to. I really love it. All of that to say- MY OPINION is that intializing some sort of exercise can lead to a new found sense of well-being which encourages a healthy lifestyle.

I try to exercise atleast 4 times a week. I also have quit buying take out and overly processed foods. The kids have fun making our own “take out” style foods at home. It saves a ton of money too!

This may sound silly but with my abundance and great selection of stockpiled cereal I have it for dinner 2-3 times per week. I have noticed a change in how my clothes fit and it’s not because we don’t have plenty of other food in the house. LOL

There are 5 things we do to stay healthy. Thanks to mom for teaching me this “high 5.” The idea is that there categories of health 1) emotional 2) social 3) physical 4)spiritual and 5) financial. Here is an example in each category of things we do at our house. My husband and I pay attention to each others emotions and how our words and actions impact each other. To keep our social circle strong, we nurture our special relationships with all the virtue we’ve got. To care for our physical health, we exercise and eat healthy meals. Spiritually, we put love and gratitude at the heart of our existence. To care for our financial health, I follow a really great blog–Southern Savers!!!

I think it is vital to be healthy. You can be the richest person in the world but if you suffer from poor Health, you really have nothing! I encourage that to all my friends and family. I keep my family healthy by cooking low fat and high fiber meals. I take my two little ones in the jogger stroller for a 3 mile run often so they can get a breath of fresh air as well! I also pack my husband’s lunch for him to save money and to keep his cholesterol on track. But most of all, we try to maintain a stress free life and think positive!

Funny, I am sitting here eating dry Cheerios and come here and see this. Cheerios is my popcorn/chips/snack food. I eat a box a week at least.

As far as keeping healthy, not much. I guess I’m lucky to have good health genes. My husband’s employer puts on Health Fairs and we get FREE health screenings, so I’ve had my cholesterol and BMI and blood and all that checked recently. I was all good.

I do get out in the Spring/Summer and walk/ride bikes on our local walking/biking trail a good bit, because I enjoy it and the nature and scenery is so pretty.

I walk my girls to and from school everyday.

I have a busy four-year-old I run after and I busy 19 year-old I try to keep up with. I also teach high school and I try to keep up with them too. They visit your blog here once a week during my class and whenever they want to after school in my room or at their homes. My students love couponing.
I exercise everyday (yoga), and take a low dose Bayer aspirin (yea, Rite-Aid deal earlier this year!) I do eat Cheerios often and also Oatmeal (yea, Quaker deal earlier)
The best thing I have done for my health recently was to FINALLY quit smoking. I have never smoked in my house because of my children and I finally decided that my lungs and health were important too. I used coupons to get 6 boxes of Commit from Publix and CVS (almost free!) at the first of the year and I have been completely smoke free for over two months. (I had cut down to 6-10 cigs a day by the time I went on the lozenges.) It’s a WONDERFUL thing to have those foul sticks out of my life!

To stay healthy, my husband I get up early (before our kids wake up) and work out together in our garage 4-5 times a week. This saves us from paying for a gym membership, and we use a home workd out DVD that my brother-in-law gave to us, so we didn’t even have to pay for that!

I’ll admit I’m not the healthiest person, but I have been trying to exercise more (starting out on the treadmill) and my Dh and I don’t go out to eat as much, much less the fast food, which not only helps our hearts, but our budget. I also do eat a lot of Cheerios (especially Honey Nut — yum!). I will say though, that even though I’m overweight and a lot of issues run in my family, the last time I had my cholesterol checked it was in the high 130s, so doin’ good!

Run/walk on the treadmill, try to do it 3x a week.

I exercise regulary and try to eat properly. That includes Cheerios!

I started running in July and got up to 3 and a half miles. Ran my first 5K in October. I love it!

I stay in shape by dancing with richard simmons. It is a joyful way to get up and get moving. I also am participating in the Ukrops Monument Avenue 10k run on March 28. I eat love to eat cheerios the frosted ones. We also eat lots of fresh veggies and drink lots of water.

As a young adult who HATES to exercise, I like to make exercise fun. To stay healthy I play ultimate frisbee with friends in a park. Two hours of that is a huge workout!

I have been on a Cheerios feeding freenzy myself. I enjoy trying to eat through the rotation of the different styles….reg, honey nut, multi-grain, etc. I’m really excited about the banana nut. Thanks for the entry.

Since Christmas I have lost 11 lbs- just eating less (not after 7pm) and exercising about 4 times a week. I also try to eat a lot of fiber and a healthy breakfast (like oatmeal.) I also chase my kids all day.

I work out at a gym for an hour 3 times a week. They have a (free) childcare service. I have bargained with my two young children that exercise is important and that if they give me the hour to work out the rest of the day I give my time to them. I figure 1 hour to 23 is a pretty good trade off!

I walk at a fast clip on the treadmill for 30 minutes 4-5 days a week. At first it was hard to keep going, but I made myself keep going, and eventually it got much easier. I eat lots of fruit and try to eat lots of vegetables, but I have a harder time getting them in. I try to drink as much water as possible and have tried to change my portions to smaller, more reasonable sizes. I have found that eating reasonable normal portions (but not large ones!) gives me greater success in sticking to a decently healthy diet. If I try to eat small portions and am still hungry after a meal, I tend to give in to unhealthy snacking. I’ve lost 30 pounds over the last year (slow but sure) doing this. I still have more weight I’d like to lose, but it’s encouraging to feel so much better than when I was heavier!

i love to workout and participate in all type of contests/races. I use to do triathlons but have gotten bored with them. I did the Walt disney world marathon this past january (5 hours – lol). In two weeks I am competing in a 12 hour adventure race in charleston (kayaking, mountain biking, running, climbing and orienteering. I love it- it gets me outside and keeps me healthy!!

now recently i have dropped 13 pounds but thats due to bad morning sickness rather than actual dieting :)

A few years ago my family was surprised to find out the hard way that even maintaining a healthy weight doesn’t mean your cholesterol will be low. We’ve swapped butter for olive oil, grilled or baked instead of fried, and steamed veggies which taste great on their own, so we skip the salt. This has helped us maintain our health inside and out.

I try to walk. We don’t have any equipment, so I just commit to walking. Finding a walking buddy is a great idea! Also, I don’t have seconds. I just take one helping at meals and that’s it. I may get hungry, but I won’t starve before the next meal.

I wasn’t being very healthy until January. That’s when my blood pressure elevation could no longer be ignored. Then I got worried when I realized my father was only 42 when he had his first two heart attacks. I’m only 2 years away from that age. SO….I have had my cholesterol checked, started back on my sensible eating plan (I hate the word diet because it’s temporary) and have lost almost 20 pounds. I go to the gym at least 3 times a week (yes, I really do it now and love it!). I drive between 8 and 10 glasses of water each day and cut caffeine out of my diet. But the most important thing that I do now is take time to stop and enjoy life! The smiles of my children and time with my family can never be taken away!

I am battling ovarian cancer and following my surgery to remove tumors, I suffered a minor stroke. It was caught in time and I suffered no lasting effects, however; following the stoke, I had to have an anteriorgram which showed 90% blockage in my right carotid. So, a month later I had right carotid surgery. I try to walk on the treadmill when I am able between my chemo treatments and I have began eating much healthier. I do have high cholestrol and I eat Cheerios (plain) several times a week. I use coupons I find in our local paper, in addition to coupons I get online and purchase Cheerios all the time.

I got my cholesterol checked about 4 months ago and it was slightly elevated. At 30, not something I needed to hear. Therefore I did the following: I walk with my two children at least 3 times a week. I feed my family a healthy meal with lowfat milk, fresh fruit and “frozen” veggies that I always get a super deals…thanks to a certain coupon “guru”. I meditate every night for at least 5 minutes. I also try to realize that I can’t change the world everyday and I have to live one day at a time. To be a super mom, I don’t have to get everything accomplished in one day. I hope you choose me! I could really use something new, considering everything I buy is always for someone else! :-)

I don’t like fish, so I’ve started to take a tablespoon of cod liver oil each day to help get the omega’s. It’s really not that bad (lemon flavored). I try to get on the treadmill at least 30 minutes, 4 – 5 times a week. Guess what? It has helped. Just had my cholesterol checked and the HDL is way up, tricl. are down, got a little more work to do on the LDL.

I try to make sure I keep water on hand so that I drink it instead of grabbing cokes from machines.

I just bought a bicycle and will be riding it on the greenways around town to try to get some exercise.

I bake with whole wheat flour that I mill at home with my wheat grinder and bake all kinds of whole wheat goodies…rolls, breads, pizzas etc. and we eat a lot of chicken, salads and vegies.

My Hubs got me a bike recently and I plan on biking during the spring and when it gets too hot for that, I’ll walk on the beach in my bare feet, swim in the ocean, swim at the Navy Base pool and join a water excercise class too…low impact is my style !

I had a “heart scare” last week. I am 42 and had chest pains down into my left arm….after a great check up and awesome Dr’s and nurses, I am fine. It was enough to make me realize that I worry too much and exercise too little. I love cheerios (bought 2 boxes today) and my family loves to eat great food…so with a healthy diet, exercise and less worrying, I think I will be in good shape!

I try to exercise 3-5 times a week (although this week will only be 2!) at the gym doing either free weights or a class. I also have a great group of girls who I work out with that are my accountability partners. I know they are counting on me to be at the gym at 5am!!

I take my gym bag with me to work so that I go straight to the gym. If I go home to change I don’t seem to have the motivation to work out as much. Going straight from work takes away the temptation to skip my workout.

Skip eatting all the treats at work. I didn’t realize how much I ate!

I carry a water bottle around with me all day and try to exercise 5 times a week. I also purposely park farther from the entrance to a store and take the stairs instead of an elevator!

I work out! Cardio and WEIGHTS, which is so important for women!

I have recently lost 10 pounds, and I attribute this to daily walks with my mother’s dog, Molly. It’s our quiet, quality time as well as making us healthier through exercise and exposure to sunshine (providing vitamin D). I also try to be heart healthy with daily breakfast of oats (oatmeal or Cheerios) and grape juice, followed by taking a baby aspirin, fish oil, and niacin.

I may be lighter, but my wallet is heavier since discovering this wonderful site.

I am drinking more water, and putting more thought into healthier meal planning. I have gained a few pounds this year, so I am working extra hard on finding time to exercise and be more careful not to eat while I am constantly in the kitchen feeding my four boys.

I chase after 7 kids every day! *grin*

We started a group at work and there are about 20 of us. It is similar to the Biggest Loser. There will be a winner at the end that gets a prize. So all of us have been watching what we eat, working out the kinks in our exercise program and supporting each other. Although everyone would like to the winner, my goal was to use the program to help me get back into an exercise program and to pay closer attention to what I eat. Even if there is only one winner in the end, we have all really won if we have chosen a healthier lifestyle!

I’m starting to try to get healthier, and have a long way to go and a lot of weight to lose. My first project in “Healthier Kristin” is to start substituting my favorite fatty items for those with less fat, baked or grilled food, and better nutritional value. I even started reading labels. Now, I’m not a fan of cereal with milk, but Cheerios dry is my favorite snack..and not no mention they have a snack mix that is absolutely wonderful!

I eat Cheerios and Quaker Oat Meal and walk every day.

I’m doing strength training. A trainer told me that 10 pounds of muscle can burn 3500 calories (equals 1 pound) just resting. I’m working hard to build the muscle so that my body will be working for me!

I try to make the foods we eat healthier by adding flax seed/wheat germ to things. Anything I bake, I use whole wheat flour.

I eat a low fat diet and have incorporated more fresh vegetables and fruit into our daily diet.

I don’t sweat the small stuff and I take time to enjoy my family. Having been the caregiver for a step-father with quintuple bypass, a father with lung cancer and a 40 year old brother in law that has been on dialysis for 15 years and had triple bypass over the holidays I have learned that it’s simpliest things that can make a differnece…walk the neighborhood, watch your fat, and enjoy life!

And don’t clip those coupons for cigarettes!!

To stay healthy I drink water, eat oatmeal cheaply (with all the grocery deals I receive from this website, eat a low fat or no fat diet, lots of veggies and manage stress with lots of positive thinking and exercise and stay very active. For exercise, I love to walk and do my own yardwork. Love this giveway and your website. Thanks for all you do!

Playing outside with my 2 year old son and our 2 dogs helps keep me active! When we go to the park I try to do everything my son does, climbing and running are great exercises! Also we make our pizza instead of ordering in! You can use flatbread or whole wheat crust and load up on veggies, my son will try a lot more foods if he gets to help make it!

I have started eating more vegetables every day plus walking. I push my 2 year old and 2 month old all over our hilly neighborhood. I feel better on the days I walk.

I exercise at the YMCA to stay healthy. It’s frugal because it saves us money on the kids’ sports programs and swim lessons :)

I ride the bike everyday and walk with my boys now that it is warmer!!

I can’t drive, so I ride my bike everywhere and I walk at least 30 minutes or 3 miles every other day. Due to some pmedical problem, it is not advisable me for me to jog. We restrict our meat to 3 times a wek and eat lots of vegies, fruit and beans. Whole Grain cheerios is our favorite cereal.

And, thanks for your blog, it helps us cut down our grocery bill a lot.

I wish I could say I was the catalyst for healthy activity, but it is my kids! We have four, from just turned 13 to almost 5. You’d think running after them would be my exercise, but the scales disagree!

My 13 year old daughter has really developed a health conscious awareness…she is my motivator to get out and walk. The two littler ones will ride their bikes and the older two and myself will walk…we just returned from a 30 minute neighborhood walk!

When weather allows, my oldest daughter will wake early for the two of us to walk before the man of the house has to leave for work!

After 42, something snapped and the weight is more difficult to manage than ever. But I’m proud to report with the help of my young athletic trainer, I’ve lost 4-1/2 pounds in the last two weeks!

I lug my 8 month old son around who weighs almost 30 pounds! We also watch our portion sizes and opt for “lighter” choices as a family.

We try to focus on eating more vegetables.

I eat lots of fruits and veggies – especially in season. I also freeze lots of extras so peaches, strawberries and blackberries get us through the long winter. I NEED to drink more water and exercise more!

I joined Curves when they were running their special at the beginning of the year it ended up being like $6 a week (a great price). That helps me have “me” time, they also have a massage therapist (which is great). I have high blood pressure so the massages really help calm me. My fiance is a truck driver and he has three children that live with us and then we have 2 year old so I stay pretty busy when he isn’t home and the time with just the ladies working out is great.

we eat lots of veggies and fruits, and we pack our lunches that we take to work with healthy snacks so we’ll be less tempted to eat junk while we’re there….

I get up early in the morning and walk, and eat lots of fiber!
