I just got back from the Bloom in Ashburn VA where I paid just under $13 for $50 of groceries. The Blooms around here do the triple coupons every month, usually the third weekend of the month.

However, they would not take ANY of my internet printables and, in fact, CONFISCATED THEM! I had three Hostess coupons (printed from their website) and four Jello pudding coupons (printed from SmartSource) and they took them!! I am furious and will be writing a letter to their corporate offices. The manager was absolutely rude to me about it. He insisted they looked counterfeit, even though they were the full page and the internet address was on them.

I have been a loyal customer of Bloom since they arrived in our area but am seriously considering not ever setting foot back in the store after the fiasco tonight.

Some more great tips (at least for our Simpsonville, SC store where the food manager does the couponing too so he is well stocked): Regarding overage this is how he told me it works and it seems to be true–Example 1: French’s Yellow mustard costs $1.00 for 8oz. You have a $.50 coupon. The coupon will ring up at $1.00 off but no more. The item is free but you don’t get any extra money off. Example 2:Kellogs cereal usually costs $3.30 a box but the Coco puffs are on sale for $1.99. You have a $.75 coupon. The coupon will actullay triple and give you the full $2.25 off becuase you can triple coupons up to the original price of items. So in this example you will make $.26 off of another item. As far as I know the stores will not pay you cash so make sure you have the right combination of items together so the you don’t loose your extra money off. I have had to grab a pack of gum at the register before when I didn’t calculate right and I had to spend or loose the overage. I hope that helps.

For those who could go to the Fort Mill store – they were really friendly and helpful – I was pleasantly surprised.

A few items I got that I thought were pretty good (Can’t remember where the coupons are from though – sorry!!! :o)

1) Lawry’s Seasoning (get the smaller bottle) – $.50 coupon – total of $.09
2) Pine Sol – $.50 coupon – total of $.69
3) Pop-Tarts (Bloom has Pop-Tarts on Sale – so you get the sale price) – Chocolate Banana Split – $.55 coupon – FREE

They didn’t have the following items for those of you that have coupons for these (guess they don’t carry?)
1. Colgate Kids Toothpaste
2. Green Giant 19-24 OZ frozen veggies
