A Challenge to Save More

All You Magazine, a source of coupons with as many as a Sunday Paper, has started a fun Challenge.  They are offering one person:

  • $1000 Grocery Card
  • Year supply of Knorr Sides
  • Chance to appear in All You Magazine

What’s the deal?  You have to try to spend $25 or less per person per week.  The Challenge starts July 13th and runs for 4 weeks.  Go HERE to sign up and to get more information.  I know we can have a winner from Southern Savers!!

Even you don’t fully suceed it would still be something to help hold you accountable on spending.  They even have a free tracking program you can use.

One more upside… if Southern Savers can get the most registered over other sites we win $250.  For me that sounds like (5) more $50 free grocery giveaway winners…  So go and register!!

Note:  All You has stated that costs of infant formula do not count into the $25 per person.

      I’m trying to sign up, but something seems to be wrong with the form… I enter all of my information, and then I get an error message saying “Please enter valid phone number” (although I’ve already entered my phone number). I’ve tried changing how I’m formatting it- using dashes or using parenthesis, but nothing works. Anyone else having this problem??? I really want to enter!

      @ Alice, enter you phone number in this format 0000000000. No dashes, hyphens or paratheses are needed. I entered the contest, too, and it took my entry this way. HTH!

      Very exciting! I just registered. Alice, I had luck entering my phone number as a string of digits, no parentheses or dashes.

      Leave out dashes and parentheses – just put ten numbers. I got the same message and then it worked when I changed it.

      I signed up for that a couple of days ago. The $25 per person only includes edibles. Personal care, cleaning supplies, diapers, etc don’t count toward the amount spent. People can use their stockpiles, ECB’s, RR’s, etc. Seriously, I’ve never spent $25 per person per week for food in my life. I’d have to work HARD to bring it up that high, but I don’t think I could make myself spend that much. Sheesh! I felt like a spendthrift when I shelled out over thirty dollars at one time tonight!

      I’d have a great time using $1,000 for groceries and stretching to feed 12 for 6 months. THAT would be a cool challenge to do.

      Sounds awesome! I try not to spend more than $25 a week total, on everything (not including gas). My fiance and I are on a very tight budget and when I do spend more than $25 in a week it’s only because I’m stocking up on a great deal… like this past weekend at Food Lion – I spent $33 over the weekend (we had triple coupons). I stocked up on tons of things! I saved over $500!

      Question about the magazine: Is this a good magazine to get? Can you share some of the things you like about it?

      Susan, it’s a magazine that people get just for the coupons because it contains quite a few good usable ones. It more than pays for itself if you use them.

      Saying that I buy it for the articles would be like a guys saying they buy Playboy for the articles. The articles in the mag tend to be shallow and written at a very low reading/comprehension level. The q’s are the main course. The articles are the garnish.

      I’m thinking of doing this challenge. This is what we already do, only we try to spend $25 per person for TWO weeks of groceries, instead of just one. So we(just me and husband) usually try to budget for only spending $50 per grocery trip and get two weeks worth of food (or more if we can) at a time.
