I have a question - for coupons that say buy 2 get 1.00 off - would you use two coupons, one per item?

Charleston, SC area shoppers: Beware of the HT on Longpoint Road! We've been in there three times during the coupon doubling event, and all three times they have made mistakes. The first time they rang up an item twice that we only bought one of, and they didn't scan all 20 of our coupons. The second and third times, again they didn't scan all 20 of our coupons. It's a nightmare getting customer service there. We switched to the store on Houston Northcutt instead. Their associates are much better ... no mistakes yet, and we've been in there just about every day!

@Maggie, I've never tried the IL HT for anything but the Rx credits they did for their grand opening. The friendly store manager was at the HT @ 521 and Ardrey Kell Road, which opened up last year.

@Krista I think I get what you're saying. I had the regular Pert Plus and then the one for menu. The regular went through w/coupon but not the Men. I've still got that coup. Expires tomorrow. Tried to find Pert+ yesterday at the store but they were all sold out. Maybe I'll check tomorrow AM, hopefully they'll have restocked.

Oh,one more thing. I plan to keep the lists for each week at the front of my accordion folder, so I don't actually have to spend time fumbling through the insert if the coupon is not there.

For those of you like me who are frustrated over coupons not being in certain inserts, I'd like to share something. I have started compiling my own list of what is actually in the insert in my area (charleston). I take the preview list which Jenny so graciously provides and simply modify it to fit what I have. It seems to me that the coupons for the most part do come, just not at the time some are listed. I know this will help me in the future. I would be more than happy to send this list in if there is an appropriate place for it on this site and if it is needed. Thanks to all of you for your posts also. It really helps save time.

The HT in Mt. Pleasant told me the limit is 2 Internet coupons per item (not per transaction). We have shopped there almost every day during this doubling event. Hate the 20/day coupon limit!

Jenny says to hand over coupons in order of value starting with .99¢ or less then give $1 and higher coupons. Why is this? Pardon my ignorance ...

I had a great experience at the HT on Savannah Hwy. in Charleston on Wednesday. They had Secret, Suave and Soft & Dri deodorant on sale for .94 so they were free with the $1/2 coupons I had. French's Worcestershire Sauce had .50 off coupons on the bottles and they are on sale 3/$3 so they were free. The soda flavored ice cream toppings, AXE deodorant and body spray and reach floss were also free if you still have the coupons. Yellow Minute Rice in the cups .94, coupon was save $1/1 and Zatarains Beef flavored rice was .74, coupon was save $1/2. Sorry, I don't know the dates.
Dentek floss picks were free. Found the coupon online.

I also shop at Brentwood HT and almost every time I go I get a different answer or am allowed to do different things! Sometimes they let me use Walgreens RR with no prob, sometimes they say no! But usually when I ask for a manager, the manager allows it. Sometimes it's even the SAME cashier that allows something once and not another time!

I too had a prob with the Mars free chocolate coupons. I had 2 and used to as the ones I was "buying" and then got my 3 free. A manager was already at my register to help the cashier (who was new and training for a new store!) with another coupon, and she "allowed it this time" but said she wouldn't do it again if I had any more coupons. I don't understand either because they will get paid for the 2 I used coupons on, so it is like they were "bought." It's so crazy how they have different reasons every time!

I'd love to go to another one of the HT's in Nashville, but I never head in those directions! I've just learned if something doesn't work, I just come back later to a different cashier! I've also learned which ones to avoid if possible! I'm following by their rules, they just don't know them half the time! Occasionally, if I discover I really am wrong, I let it slide because I do want to do the right thing! I don't want them to stop giving me so much stuff for free!! :o)

For all you pet lovers out there I got a great deal on Purina Dog Chow today. Got the 20 lb for $4. It is on sale B1G1 and then I used a $3 off coupon making it $4 with tax. Don't have to worry about dog food for a while. $4 is much better than $12.

I also go to the Harris Teeters in Brentwood and their clerks have terrible attitudes toward coupons. They scrutinize every coupon that I give them. I am not giving up on the good deals though. They'll just have to deal with it.

Thanks Deena, I'll have to shop on 21st from now on. I work in Brentwood so it was just convenient to go to that one. I did want to make one thing clear though. She didn't actually accuse me of cheating, it was just the impression that I got. I don't need to call corporate on her but I do need to call to get them to explain why I have to purchase both with cash instead of one with cash and one with a coupon. If they can give me a valid reason, I could understand it more. It was only .79 but because I am having a candy buffet at my daughter's wedding, every little bit helps.

Charleston Papers get a very low amount of coupons compared to the State Paper or other papers in the area. You really want to find a friend in Columbia or Charlotte if you can and get coupons sent to you.

Debbie,

I have never shopped at the Brentwood, TN location because I always hear bad things re: coupon acceptance. I really like the 21st Ave. store because the mgrs are nice - even in explaining why they can't do something. I would consider sending a quick email to corporate. I don't understand why she felt okay accusing you of cheating. Just poor customer service even if she thought it she shouldn't have said it unless she was making a formal accusation.

When they had coke products B1G1 I had a coupon for a free 12 pk. So I ended up getting both free. I thought I would have to explain, but the cashier discreetly asked mgmt and it was taken care of with no problems. I hate to say I rather go to Kroger when they match the HT coupon specials because I'm always afraid the other HT locations in Nashville will start behaving like the Brentwood folks. So far they have been really nice so I don't even feel bad when I can't use a coupon due to policy.

I just came back from HT in Brentwood TN. I had two Mars BOGO Q's that expire on Sunday and wanted to take advantage of the store sale of buy 2 get three free. The coupon beeped so the cashier called the asst mgr over. She explained that I had to buy 2 in order to get the 3. I told her I am buying two. One with cash and one with a MQ. She called the mgr over who tells me that I have physically pay for both. I politely told her that the three free is basically like a store Q and that they allow stacking. She acted as if I were trying to steal from her and said well, I'll override it this time but next time, you'll have to pay for both. Again, HT is getting paid for both; one from me and one for the Manufacturer. What does it matter whose pocket it comes from as long as they get paid? Could someone give me a valid reason as to why I have to physically pay for both instead of HT getting the money from me and the Manu? I definitely don't want to cheat HT but I honestly don't think I did in this case.

I just came back from HT in Brentwood TN. I had two Mars BOGO Q’s that expire on Sunday and wanted to take advantage of the store sale of buy 2 get three free. She acted as if I were trying to steal from her and said well, I’ll override it this time but next time, you’ll have to pay for both. Again, HT is getting paid for both; one from me and one for the Manufacturer. What does it matter whose pocket it comes from as long as they get paid? Could someone give me a valid reason as to why I have to physically pay for both instead of HT getting the money from me and the Manu? I definitely don’t want to cheat HT but I honestly don’t think I did in this case.

Cat, I had the same problem with the Pert Plus Men coupon. Did you buy more then one Pert Plus in your order?? Technically you can only use one coupon per BOGO but my store lets me use as many as I want because they realize people just hold up the line doing separate transactions. Anyways, I bought 4 Pert Plus (one was the Mens). What happened was my $1 coupons doubled to the full $2 instead of $1.63 so my ".90 cent overage from the 3 other Qs" went to the Pert Plus for Men. When I went to hand over the Mens Q there was not $1.50 (only like .70) left on the price of the the Men's Pert Plus to use the Q so my cashier got an error message that the price of the Q exceeded the price of the item. Does that make sense??

For others questioning the other coupon policies, it does in fact state that $$ off the order coupons from competitors have to come through direct mail so catalinas don't count. I think it's been this way for awhile. It does make sense if you think about it...they are trying to control loss. If they allowed internet coupons from competitors and such they could really end up with quite a profit loss and then we wouldn't have triples and super doubles anymore :(

It's 2 internet Qs per MANUFACTURER not transaction. You could have 20 IPS as long as they aren't for the same type of thing! If they tell you otherwise, their confused. Just go on the HT website and read the coupon policy...maybe bring it to the store with you! Oh, and BOGO ring up at 1/2 price - if you have a free coupon they DON'T usually give you full price (so you can get 2 free) but rather 1/2 price.

Good luck all! I LOVE HT :0)

Cat, I saw you had trouble at the John J Delaney HT. I've also had issues there with people not being very nice about my coupons. I started going to the new one in Indian Land, and every one is very supportive. They're always in awe of my savings, and therefore never mind fixing any troubles that I've had. So, if you're looking for another one nearby, try IL. I'm curious as to which other HT you had such a good experience at!

So I went to our HT today, well they now have a new coupon policy since the last triples. They will no longer except WD catalina's from WD because they no longer consider them a competitor? Because they are not in the SAME PARKING LOT!!!!!! This is from the customer service desk. They will only except mailed competitor coupons. I think someone in mgmnt has gone crazy!!! P.S. we live in FL

I did ok at ht today. The people were nice and it was not that busy. I did not find the Dawn soap, I had a q for 1.50 but is was specific the the kind of dish soap. I think If I can not find it tomorrow then I will try another Dawn soap and see if it works. The only thing About HT is the layout is a bit confusing. I took me 15 mins to find PButter. I did not reliese it is in the bread area which is in the produce area leading to meats. I if I knew the layout better I could be faster.

I emailed the State newspaper a while back, and the nearest place to purchase is Florence. Too sad!! Wish we had all the same coupons as well!

I had no problem using 2 FREE Mar bars Qs for the B2G3. I think she had to override it because of # of coupons per order, but she thought it was the right thing to do.

ALso many of the PertPlus for Men have try me free stickers! So MM.

Stephanie, I believe the policy is no more than 2 Internet printables for the same item! They should be accepting more than 2 per order as long as they aren't for the same item. I would insist they call corporate on that one!
