I just got home from CVS and all went well. They let me use my $4 ECBs that expired yesterday and I got some pretty good deals.

    3 cans of Progresso soup
    1 Clairol hair dye
2 Airwick (the ones that were on sale a few weeks ago, I had a rain check)
    - $4/$20
    -$1.10 off 3 Progresso soups
    - $2 off Clairol
    - (2) $6 off Airwick, adjusted to $5.99 each
    - $3.89 ECBs, adjusted down from $4

I paid a total of 82 cents and that was all tax and I got $4 ECBs back, $2 from the hair dye and $2 from the soup.
  • kelli
Thanks Jenny, I thought that I'd read that they'll usually let you use them if they're only a day or two past. I'm going to go to the nicer of the two stores in my town, hopefully I'll have good luck. :)
  • kelli
I just realized that I have $4 ECBs that expired yesterday... I thought that they were expiring today! ahhhhh! do you think there's any way that they'll still let me use them? :(
  • Jenny
    Kelli,

Most stores if you ask nicely will still accept them so run out today and grab something even if it doesn't give ECB's back no reason to not use $4.
  • Jennifer
Neither one of the toothpaste had the hang tags at my CVS my ECB printed no problem.
  • Dianne
    Emily,

No,there doesn't have to be a tag on the product shelf to get your ECBs. Sometimes they just don't have time to get all the tags on from week to week. If I don't see a tag for ECBs where one should be, I always ask, and they always give it to me.

I usually have to go to more than one store to get the deals, but always get a raincheck, and make sure they put on the rain check the EBCs that are due!
  • Ashley
A good idea is to ask the store when they get their shipments in. I have found that my store gets them in Wednesday night so they are on display on Thursday. This way, there is a fresh shipment of deals. This works if it is a weekly deal. I have also called to ask about a product and they put it on hold for me too. This helps with some of the frustration. If all else fails, rainchecks!! :)
  • Sandy
    Emily,
It can be very frustrating to work out a "grand plan" only to get to the store and find that they don't have any of the products that you think they should have on sale! What I've learned here on Southernsavers is, use this site as a guide, but as soon as you get inside the store grap a sales flyer. Store sales can vary greatly from one city to another, newspaper coupon inserts can vary greatly from one paper to another and when it's time to check out - even your cashier can make a differece in your total.
Ask for rainchecks if they are out of a product that is in your sales flyer. I cut out the ad and clip it to the raincheck and the coupon and then look for these items on my next shopping trip.
Keep trying, it's worth every penny saved!
  • Sandra
    Emily,
The one CVS in my little hometown never had anything when I tried to go get stuff. It's like they get ONE of whatever deal they have and then they don't get anymore in until the sale is over...It's frustrating!
Also some of them start their sales on Saturday night, so people go early and snap up the free stuff.
I finally moved to a big city where I have access to lots of stores, so I can usually find the stuff at one or the other!
    Keep trying...don't get discouraged!
  • Emily
Ok, I'm a newbie and would really like to take advantage of CVSing... I went last night with high hopes but it didn't turn out quite like I expected. I went thinking I would buy the Glade Fragrance Collection candle (+ $3 off Q), Aquafresh and Sensodyne toothpastes (+ $1 off for each Q), and 2 boxes of the twin packs of Renu Sensitive Eyes contact solution (+ $2 off each box Q). My CVS (Hwy 99 in Murfreesboro) was out of both toothpastes (there also wasn't an ECB tag under either one like I saw for other products - does there have to be a tag to get ECB's??), apparently they didn't even stock the contact solution, and I couldn't find any type of Glade products anywhere...

Does anyone have any advice? Are the deals different in different areas or should they all be the same? I also still saw the $5 ECB for $15 in Neutrogena products - wasn't this from last week??

Should I try a different one in town or something?
  • julia
    Yes
  • diane
I printed the bayer contour q off, but it says you need a prescription. Do you?
  • Angela P
Quen #97 - Thank you very much for the zip code! It is the only way I got the glade Q! You Rock!
  • Jewel

    Q-$1.00
    1 Tide -$5.98
    Q-$1.00
    1 cascade-$4.49

    1 Glade candle-$6.99
    Q-$3.00
    Total=$20.46
    Minus$6.00 in Q's
    And 4 off of $20
    ECB $7.98
SMILES GRAND OOP=$3.54...AND RECEIVED $6.99 IN ECBS.....
I AM A NEWBIE AT THIS BUT HAD ALOT OF FUN.. IF ANYONE SEES WHERE I COULD HAVE MADE A BETTER DECISION ON USIN MY ECBS. PLEASE LET ME KNOW.. I LOVE THIS SITE:)
  • Denise
I went to CVS on my way home from work with kids. Got the Glade deal, then did the razor deal. I had a $2Q for the Venus razor and one for free shaving cream when the buying razor. So I figured I would use my $6.99 ECB from the candle for the razor. I don't know what the cashier did but my total was only $2.15, so I spent more out of pocket then planned but got to keep my $6.99 ECB and earned $3 ECB more. Turned around and used the $3 ECB to but chocolate for the "Hungry Natives" so patiently waiting to go home:)
  • kelli
Christie (#154) - thanks for the tip on progresso soup! I've got $4 ECBs that I somehow haven't used that expire on Friday. I'll have to run over and do this deal. :)
  • Andrea
When I was in my CVS yesterday, I noticed a deal that wasn't in the flyer. Apparently my CVS has a large quantity of cereals in stock that they are now trying to get rid of. They are priced at $1.77 a box. Not sure if any other stores are clearing out their inventories this week as well but it may be a good idea to start keeping an eye out for this deal.
  • Jess
Just wanted everyone to know that CVS has all of their summer items on clearance for 75% off! I just went and got the glade candle EBB deal and then turned around and used it to get a large wheelie rolling cooler for $2.00! (regularly $24.00)! Even without EBB it was only around $8.00 on clearance- GREAT DEALS!
  • Ashley
I went into CVS in Easley, SC today and they had the the Aquafresh and Sensodyne but they were in a weird place on the oral hygiene isle like by the toothbrushes and rinse and not with the other tooth pastes. They were on the shelf but had no price or anything, like they had been thrown up there last minute.

Also, I was going to go with the Colgate 360 toothbrush instead of the Colgate twin pack toothpaste since I bought the Sens. and Aqua. but I found out, it's the 360 Deep Clean and NOT the 360 Sonic that qualifies for the 2 ecb. The ad just says 360 Clean toothbrush, so now I have to go back an exchange to get my 2 ecb's!
  • Christie
there is a $1.10 off (3) cans of Progresso Soups at smartsource.

makes it less than $1 per can after Q and ECB.

also there was a $5 off coupon for the Wrinkle Free product awhile back. I'm not sure of the price of the item, so I don't know if it's a good deal or not.....

I used 30341 for the aquafresh and sensodyne q's last week... not sure if they're still up, but maybe worth a look...
  • Ashley in FL
I also cannot get the Aquafresh and Sendodyne coupons. What zip codes did you use to print them?

    Thanks!
  • Amy
CVS also has Tide on sale for 5.98. Used Dollar off coupon in paper and had $2ecb. total =3.40
  • Brenda
This thing really works!! Thanks to your grand plans Jenny, I have come home with lots of great products rolling over my ecb's (very little OOP) AND 19.99 worth of ECB's saved up in just 3 weeks of CVSing!
  • Julie Ann
Yea! I did the Glade deal and got free 64 Crayola crayons for my son (missed the Toy R Us sale last week)
  • Meredith
Is anyone having trouble finding the sensodyne and auquafresh? I've been to two different stores and was told at one they don't have that and at the other, I couldn't get help. Am I looking in the wrong place?
  • Carissa
Now I can't get the aquafresh or sensodyne Q'S!! Any zip code for that? This is part of what is wrong with living in FL! No double Q's and no good Q's to print!!
  • Carissa
Thanks Cari! I should have read better!
  • Carissa
I can not get the $3 printable Q for the glade to work?? Anyone know if i have to use a certain zip code?? Thanks!

I didn't realize that the official name of the scanner was "Coupon spitter machine" - haha! I love CVS! Our new CVS stores that have been built over the past 6 months are the only ones that have the machines...so that's where I shop!

I just came home from a CVS in Summerville, SC (Knightsville store) and they said they won't be getting the Sensodyne or Aquafresh toothpastes for at least 6 weeks(!). They gave me a raincheck, but if it really takes that long to get the toothpastes in, my coupon will expire. :-( If anyone knows of a CVS in this area that does have the toothpastes, I'd love to hear it!

#132 Beachgirl - the Readyfill thing on cvs's site disappeared for awhile this morning, but it's back now. Check again. Go to cvs.com and click on the box in the middle of the screen when it says something about Readyfill, then follow it to the quiz.

The only way that a coupon from Walgreens will scan at CVS is if it is actually a manufacturer's coupon that just happens to be from Walgreens. Register Rewards and other coupons that come out of the Catalina machine will scan at any and all stores b/c they are normally manufacturer's coupons that just happen to say 'walgreens' on them b/c that's where they printed. (same as if you got a catalina coupon from a grocery store or kmart, as long as it is a manufacturer's coupon that starts w/ a 5 or 9 and not a store coupon) Walgreens coupons that come out of the flyer that are *actual* Walgreens coupons will not scan (like the ones that are something like 'get toilet paper for $0.69/roll, limit 4' - only Walgreens registers will recognize what these are supposed to do). *Some* CVS's will take competitor's coupons even if they are acual store coupons, in those cases they have to be entered manually as a CVS coupon by the cashier. *Most* CVS's do not willingly accept competitor's coupons.

Using zip code 30263 I got a coupon for $1.00/1 Softsoap Nutri Serums on Redplum.
  • kelli
South FL (#124) - I don't think that you'll get overage. I also don't think that the adjust down a coupon until it's over the price of all of the items that the coupon is for, so buying 2 is probably the best way to work it.

I'll have to go check my CVS to see if they have any. Where were they in your store?

    Katie (#87)

What did the small Kroger insert in the 8/30 AJC look like? All I can find is the regular sale flyer and it doesn't contain any coupons.

    Thank you.
  • Beachgirl
I can't seem to find the 5 off of 25 coupon on the web site...Anyone that can help???
  • Livininatl
Not sure if this has been mentioned but Visine has $3 and $2 coupons on their website that can be combined with the $3 off of $12 from the ready fill book.
  • Val
I started with $14.56 ECB, and had 2 transactions, my total OOP including tax was $2.70 and I have $12.99 ECB for next week. My CVS was out of the Sensodyne which meant I had to do a little improvising to get to the $25.00 mark to use my $5 off coupon, but other than that everything else went fine.

    1 Glade Reed Diffuser
    1 Tide Stain Release Liquid
    1 Bounce Dryer Bar
1 Aquafresh Iso Active Whitening Tooth Paste
    2 Renu Solution
    2 Act mouth wash
Free CVS Soap with emial coupon
    3 Candy Bar 8 packs
3 Sharpie Highlighters (rain check for $0.99)
  • Debra
Thanks Jenny for everything that you post, it really is a blessing and it sure has helped me save even more on my shopping trips to the drug stores.
  • Debra
I went to CVS yesterday and I got $46.98 worth of stuff for $8.03 and this was my third time doing the extra care bucks. I was so excited, I only started out with 5.98 in extra care bucks and ended up getting back almost 10.00 in ecbs for future use. I think I'm getting the swing of how the ecbs work now. Thanks to everyone who has posted comments here, it sure has helped me out.

The dawn coupons are in the PG 8/2 and expires 8/31

You mentioned CVS will take the Walgreens Qs. Would these qualify as a store Q or a Manu Q?
  • I did pretty well on my midnight run last night; I only did one transaction b/c I wasn't sure of what I wanted to do with the resulting ECBs.

    (1) Glade Reed Diffuser
    (2) Bounce Dryer Bars
    (1) Softsoap Nutriserum
    (1) Aquafresh Foaming Gel

    -$4/$20
    -$1 off Aquafresh
    -$2.50 off Bounce
    -$1.50 off Bounce
    -$2 off Glade
    -$2 off Softsoap
    -$10 ECB

Paid $3.89 and got back $13.99 in ECBs! Even my cashier said, "That's how to do it!" Will probably go back for contact solution and paper goods for free. Thank you Jenny! Even my husband loves seeing the bottom of my CVS receipts with how much I've saved all summer! (At $600+)

    CVS Question??

I noticed the Rembrandt 2 Hour whitening kits on clearance tonight for $2.xx (75% off). I just found a $5 off coupon for these at http://www.rembrandtwhitening.com/

Do you think I will get the overage? Or will it beep because it is over the amount of the item? Or should I try buying two and use one coupon?
  • South FL
I was able to use the $2 off $10 oral care coupon with no problems on:
    2 Act Mouthwash - (2) $1/1 Act
    1 Sensodyne - $1 off Sensodyne
  • Damien
I could not find the $3 off Glade Coupon on Red Plum. Do you have to enter a specific zip code to get it?
  • Jenny
    Damien,

They do have differences based on zipcode. Try 90210 to get most of them.
  • Amber
Just want to let you know that the Tida & Bounce are limit 2
  • holly61
I went to CVS today and purchased the required $15 of Dove products for $5 in bucks back. I also had 2 Dove deoderants that were 2/$5. I had coupons for the $15 of Dove lotion and bodywash as well as a coupon for $1.25 off the 2 deoderants. All coupons were dated today the 30th. However, the one for the deoderant said expired. Even when I told the young lady this, she would not accept the coupon.

Other then that I did pretty well at CVS today.

I can't find the act coupon anyone else having trouble?
  • Nora
Sorry, it says buy one get one 50% off, not free... delete!
  • Kathy
    Cherise-#78
The PG is the Proctor and Gamble insert that is separate from the Red Plum and the SS. It doesn't come every week, just sometimes. Jenny always alerts us when one is coming. There should have been one in your paper today.
  • Nora
Has anyone mentioned the covergirl sale? My CVS ad has B1G1 of all covergirl makeup in it also and I know there are several coupons from the past weeks that could make some great deals on makeup.
  • Kathy
I can't find the Nabisco/Keebler Q anywhere. It wasn't in my SS and I checked all 8/9-8/30. Anybody know where it might be or did my insert just not have it. I am in Dallas, GA.
  • kelli
I just wanted to let everyone who's trying to buy the Sensodyne and Aquafresh together that you can use the $2 off $10 oral care, even after your card has been scanned. It's only 2 cents off, so I don't think that the register cares. It didn't beep or anything.

    I did pretty good today:

    (1) Sensodyne
    (1) Aquafresh
    (1) Bounce Dryer Bar
    (1) Glade Fragrance Collection Candle
    - $4/$20
    - $2/$10 oral care
    - $1 off Sensodyne
    - $1 off Aquafresh
    - $2.50 off Bounce Dryer Bar
    - $2 off Glade Fragrance Collection
    - $8 ECBs

Total out of pocket: $.81 ($.35 of that was tax)
and I got $13.99 back in EBCs!
  • arcanabtn
Notice that the fun size candy bars are .77 for three days starting today (Sunday). Last weeks coupons had a coupon for .55 off any Reese's product. Makes the 8 pack of solo peanut butter cups .22. Not exactly free, but a great filler.
  • Colleen
My CVS in Central Florida had Maxwell House Instant Coffee on sale: buy one get one free for $7.89...no ECB though.
  • Don't mean to ask a hot/taboo question, but I am wondering what is the logic behind printable coupons being zip code specific? For example, not all zip codes had the glade coupon. Actually, I guess this question would apply to inserts as well since they seem to vary so greatly.

Just for giggles I entered 90210 and I see that a product is sold under two names (like Hellmen's & Best Foods), so same coupons as in my zip code, but different packages. That is a partial answer to my question, but it doesn't apply across the board.
  • Dianne
FYI...If anyone has any Glade Fragrance Collection Qs left over, I used my free 2 oz. soy candle Qs at Walmart. It sells for $2.97 and I noticed that the $3 off is for any item in this collection so it would be free.

    Robin #90

    HTH = hope that helps
  • Dianne
Thanks Quen! Didn't thank you sooner because I was out to the movies with my DH...got free tickets (of course) awhile back buying cereal. Funny how it was more even enjoyable because it was free! I really love my deals & Southern Savers!
  • Amber
OK. . .so I'm a newbie!!! I see that Old Spice Ever Clear is what you get an ECB for!!! Oops!
  • Amber
I'm a new CVSer and today when I bought 2 Old Spice deodorants, using my $1 off 2 coupon. . .I didn't get an ECB. Looking at the scan of the circular after the shopping trip, I realized that it's not in this new week's circular. I'm glad that I got both for a total of $5 before tax, which is cheaper than I would have normally paid with no coupon.

Hoping things will get better when my coupon stash grows! :-)
  • julia
    Thanks Quen

Re. the Grand Plan and the multiple Buy #1 #2, does this mean you are doing separate transactions or going multiple days? I don't understand.
  • Jenny
    Patty,

I do multiple transactions in the same day. Just get everything in the basket at the same time and then put transactions together and coupons with them so when you get up to the counter you are all set to checkout. If someone comes up behind you then finish the transaction you are on and jump to the back of the line.
  • brittany
I had a great day at CVS!!! I got one glade frangence collection candle, bounce dryer bar, 4 pepsi's, 4 newspapers for $1.70 OOP. I started with $7.58 ECB.

The best part was that I met a 20-something couponing GUY!! I felt so proud and it put a smile on my face. It would be like my husband couponing - I'm pretty sure pigs haven't started to fly yet.

Frebreze luminary started set is 14.99 before ECB

    Thanks JENNY and happy couponing!!
  • Quen
Julia, You can only print 1 unique bar code coupon from each computer. If you want another coupon, you'll have to take the quiz again from a different computer.
  • Chris
Okay ladies, I'm a single guy, so the CVS deals on diapers, hair coloring products, and anti-wrinkle creams are not as alluring to me as they may be to the rest of this community. With that said, it can take me weeks to find a good set of deals at CVS. This week was pretty good for me. :-)

    Glade Scented Reed Diffuser $6.99
    Bounce Dryer Bar 2ct $3.99
Gillette Fusion Razor (with two blades) $8.99
1 piece of carmel candy $0.33
    Sub-Total $20.30

Used $4 off $20 purchase coupon ***USE FIRST***

    $2 off Gelette Razon
    $3 off Glade product
    $1 off Bounce
used $6 ecb from previous pruchase

    Total paid $5.59
    New exb earned $10.99

    I made $5.40

    Woo-Hoo, Now I'm a CVS believer!
  • julia
Are we only suppossed to be able to use 1 of the readyfill $5 off $25 coupon because the cashier wouldn't let me use one today and I used one last week?
  • Quen
Dianne, I found it using zip code 48601.
  • Kayleen
    Dianne:

Try going to red plums website for the coupon. I didn't see it through that link either but found it plus some different coupons on their website.
  • Dianne
    Jenny,
There was no $3 Glade Fragrance Collection coupon through your link for me. Is there a certain zip code to use or will it be available later today? I was hoping to get this since I don't have the $4 Q. Thanks!
  • Katie
Val, the starter kit was like $12 or 14 or something like that. (I can't remember whether the price was before or after ECB)
