Went to HT today with my list of free items and my coupons just to see what was left. They were out of most things but I walked out with five 4-packs of yogurt for a total of $0.59!! I actually had to get my son to go get change out of the car - didn't bring in any cash just my checkcard. Didn't expect to come out so cheap!!

Thanks Jenny! What a lot of time and effort you put into this and what a blessing it is to all of us!!

Honestly, I cut all of my coupons and separate them into envelopes before I organize them in my coupon caddy. It may be a couple hour job at first but if you do it often it will only take 15 minutes or so and you will find it so much easier to be organized. ALSO, i do a lot of clearance area shopping at CVS, Walgreens and the grocery stores and knowing where the coupon is helps to make great savings even greater!

Michelle #85 - I notice that only when the item would give an overage if they truly doubled/tripled it. Perhaps that's the case with yours? HT doesn't do overages.

I noticed that over the past two weeks, the cashiers at my HT (Winston-Salem Robinhood @ Meadowlark) have started to pull all of my coupons that say "do not double or triple" and started to put them in a separate pile. They then told me that they wouldn't double. I said fine. Guess what - every single time, they've doubled. Yesterday, the cashier (who, BTW, usually works at the customer service desk) said she'd never seen it do that. I explained the "5" vs. "9" rule in the UPC. She said she'd never heard of that, either.

So, I hope they aren't cracking down on the actual wording and that the "5" vs. "9" rule won't go away!!

Hi! I'm a cashier at a Greensboro, NC HT, and here's a few answers to previous q's: (at least as they apply to my store!)

Typically catalina coupons will not double, nor will "in-store" coupons that you take out of dispensers on shelves... they have EAN codes which "start with 99" and have 13 digits, so they're easy to tell apart from a regular UPC starting with a 5, and having 12 digits! We also don't take internet coupons for FREE product =( but will take regular kinds for money off items. We will take competitor's coupons for money off a total order, but not for individual items.

With B2G3 items, the first two ring up full retail, and then you get up to 3 free (it's taken off at the end). So your first 2 pepsi 12-pks will ring $5.99 each or whatever, then any up to 3 after that will come off. As for coupons for all 5 B2G3 items... I'm not sure, I've never had anyone try it on those kinds. It works on BOGO items b/c each item rings up half price, so you can take money off each of those items. It might be bending space/time to take money off a free item.

Sometimes it gives sass when you try to use more than 3 of the same kind of coupon (on more than 3 of that item), but an override isn't hard to come by most of the time. Your cashiers are supposed to be nice! (I'm sorry to hear about the grouchy ones, shame on them.)

There are a few ladies who come in my store and a couple times I've just about owed THEM money! So as for overages- Again, I think it depends on the particular coupons you're using. There have also been instances where the computer DOES keep track and only take off $1.35 for a $1.35 item, for example, instead of $1.50 for a 75 cent double coupon. So... blah.

Thanks, and Keep up the good work, everyone!

Hello all- Well, I just got back from HT and am a little frustrated. It took me almost 3 hours to come up w/ my list for HT and CVS, the savings at HT? Only $21- argh. Where am I going wrong? Also, consistently finding that the coupons listed in the circulars are not in mine. I'm in Charlotte, is anyone else having this problem? Do you clip your coupons before you go or just take everything with you? How do you organize your coupons? Right now mine are organized monthly. I've heard it should only take 30 mins to prepare to go, but I have never done it in less than 1 1/2 hrs. HELP!!!

Reply on comment #63 (Katrina)

Try buying just two of the Breyers ice cream and using your $1.00/2 coupon to see what happens. I know B1G1 free offers ring up at half-price if you buy only one. I've never tried B2G3 offers but see if the Breyers rings up $2.24 each when you buy only two ($5.59 x 2 = $11.18, $11.18 / 5 = $2.24).

2 Breyers x $2.24 = $4.48
- $1.00 (scanned coupon)
- $1.00 (doubled)
Total = $2.48 (or $1.24 each plus tax)

Also, be careful about scanning your VIC card after everything else (see comment #78).

As a general rule, if it's B1G1 free and one coupon will not make both items free, then instead of trying to use two coupons, see if buying one at half-price and using one coupon will make it free. Then go back and do it again on another trip with your second coupon. It takes a little more time but it might save you a hassle at the register.

I've been testing the limits of HT's sales lately and I've come across some inconsistencies. Multiple coupons were allowed on ICB It's Not Butter B1G1 free items (see comments #39 and #57) and overages were allowed on Reach Dental Floss (see comment #58).

I shop at the Long Point Rd HT all the time! Try to avoid it on the weekends, though...it can get pretty crowded! I'd also encourage to aim for one of the younger cashiers for more ease with your coupons; there's one named Emily who is especially coupon friendly!

One of my coupons gave a "check item" message once, so Emily had to pull the item out of the bag and call a manager over to prove that I was buying the item that the coupon was for. The manager verified that I was buying the right item for the coupon, but then had trouble scanning my internet coupon and tried to tell me that "it won't scan being that it's an internet coupon. If it won't scan, we can't accept it." Well, Emily had already scanned about 15 internet coupons for me with no problem and she told me that she uses them herself. So she tried one more time and got it to scan!

HT in Rocky Mount NC does not enter sale prices until after 2:00 am and for the coupons-triples, super doubles don't go into effect until 7:00 am. My dgt and I made a midnight run- I had to go back to get the real deals when the sun came up. Our HT also does not accept competitor coupons anymore-bummer.

I bought milk and and other healthy stuff. However, I could not find the Lightlife Smartdogs anyone know where to look. I did the produce and freezer and meat section.

I have not had good experience with HT customer service. A year ago I was about 8 1/2 months pregnant and in line checking out I was buying normal stuff, except I did have two chocolate bars in the cart when the lady scanned them she said, oh having cravings? I said no they are for my husband and then she proceeded to tell me it was a good thing I wasn't eating them because I was huge! She had never seen a pregnant women as big as me, and that I must be having triplets. Needless to say with the pregnancy hormones ranging, I didn't utter a word and just let her finish checking me out, by the time I reached my car I was a wreck. I called the store from my car and gave the manager the cashiers name and she said she would speak to her. I also typed a letter on the website and I never heard anything back!!! I now drive 30 minutes out of my way to go to a different HT

I have not had good experience with HT customer service. A year ago I was about 8 1/2 months pregnant and in line checking out I was buying normal stuff, except I did have two chocolate bars in the cart when the lady scanned them she said, oh having cravings? I said no they are for my husband and then she proceeded to tell me it was a good thing I wasn’t eating them because I was huge! She had never seen a pregnant women as big as me, and that I must be having triplets. Needless to say with the pregnancy hormones ranging, I didn’t utter a word and just let her finish checking me out, by the time I reached my car I was a wreck. I called the store from my car and gave the manager the cashiers name and she said she would speak to her. I also typed a letter on the website and I never heard anything back!!! I now drive 30 minutes out of my way to go to a different HT

Brenda #74,

So sorry about your East Bay HT experience. I think the people at the James Island HT and the new one on Savannah Hwy. are extremely kind and helpful. I would definitely talk to the store manager at the East Bay HT about the cashier's attitude. There is no reason for them to treat anyone rudely.

Watch your receipt. I gave my coupons first and then my vic card a few weeks ago during the triples. and Now of my coupons tripled. The manager had to figure up what I was susposed to get and give to to me in cash. They were very helpful but it was time consuming. The manager said to give your vic card first and it would have been fine.

You should definitely call corporate. My MIL had been mistreated before and called corporate. They then call the store manager who will call you. My MIL has gotten gift cards for her bad experiences.

I just had the worst cashier experience at the East Bay HT in Charleston. She was so hostile about my coupons and treated me like an idiot and a criminal. I have never cried at the grocery store before. Any one had a positive experience contacting HT corporate office?

Sorry guys the Hendersonville HT is NOT accepting competitors coupons on individual items, but IS accepting amount off total Qs ($4 off $20) but they have to be from Grocery Stores (NOT, target, CVS or Rite-aid) :( Does anyone know where to get a coupon like this for a grocery store?
