Carfax is giving away one free carfax report to each person right now.  I don’t know how long it will last, but enjoy it if you are in the market for a used car.

    I wish I would have known this on Saturday! We are about to buy a used minivan and we ran a carfax report on it. We would have saved $32 – oh well, maybe next time!

    Carfax is misleading…it only shows what has been reported on the car. So, you can buy a “lemon” and get a Carfax, yet it won’t show anything…use with caution. You would be better off to have your personal mechanic look at the car. HTH

    They do have a buyback guarantee if something like what Sarah mentioned happens. Carfax certainly isn’t the end all, but it will give you history about accidents, flooding etc.

    Love your site, but the FREE is just for a record…just tells if anything has been reported on your car…not WHAT has been reported.32 items on mine…..but to know if that’s just maintenance repair or bad stuff have to pay $29!

    Carfax is a good thing to get but like everyone else mentioned…it may not show up everything. I bought a brand new car and was in a accident. B/c we repaired it ourselves and the insurance company didn’t pay out, they didn’t report it. So, it never showed up. But it did show up when a title change was made.
