I just tried the deal with the Olay and the cashier and the manager refused despite agreeing that the coupon didn't forbid it :(

Sheila - I'm glad that I'm not the only one that this has happened to. The thing that really annoys me is that the cashier just flat our refused to scan the ECB. I didn't push it and I really should have because it turns out that it would've worked. The thing that I think is really weird about it is that the manager of my store said that she'd never seen anything like that before and she was 100% sure that there was no way that it would scan if I was using my card. The woman I spoke to on the phone said that it was 100% my ECB. I plan to tell the manager the next time I see her.

I had the exact same thing happen to me and customer service said to tear up the $4.00ecb with the missing number on it and I would be sent another one in my email. Have not seen it yet, been two weeks and numerous phone calls.

Sorry for that long rambling comment last night. I kept not being able to call the 1-800 number at a time where there was a person to talk to and I was getting really frustrated with it all.

I finally did get to speak with someone today who was extremely helpful. She told me that the ECBs that I had were in fact for my card, which I already knew. She also told me that the reason why the number prints off differently is based on the way that you give them your information:

If you use your card, it picks up all of the numbers and puts the last 4 on the receipt
If you give them your phone number, it'll drop the last number and pick up the next one, so that there are 4 numbers on the receipt

The thing that doesn't make sense is that I've never once given my phone number instead of my card. My guess is that it has something to do with them having to scan the receipt to make the ECBs from the raincheck print out. I don't really know.... I'm just glad to know that I'm not totally losing my mind and that it is actually my $8 ECBs. :)

I've got a problem and I was wondering if anyone else has ever had the same problem...

The last 5 numbers are my CVS card are 78198. Usually it shows up on my receipts as ********8198 but it used to show up as ********7819. I noticed when I originally got my card that it did that but it never seemed to be an issue and when I (out of curiosity) asked about it, no one knew why. At some point it changed though (I didn't even notice it until the problem) and started showing up as 8198. It's been doing this for a while but twice it reverted back to 7819. The first time I didn't even realize it was a problem. The cashier at the store that I was at said that the computer thought it was for the wrong card but she just pushed it through with no problem or question. I only assume that the reason why it didn't work was because the numbers were wrong, since she didn't give it back to me, I don't know for sure.

The other one with the wrong numbers on it I still have, it's for $8! I even remember exactly when I got it. It was for the Blink Tears. I had a raincheck for them and when it got printed out. It's just so strange to me. I know that I bought them with my card. Just to make sure I checked the numbers on my mom's card and my fiance's card... of course they don't match because I'm sure that I used my card. I mean, really... what's the likelihood of me having ECBs for a card that's number is so close to mine but isn't mine.

Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone else has ever had a problem like this? The manager of my store wrote on them, extending the date and instructing the cashier to enter it manually, but I still can't figure out what happened.

My cvs would only use the b1g1 coupon on the $4.99 covergirl even with the manager, oh well it was still a good deal. We have 2 stores on the opposite end of town and the best one is completely out of the way for me the one today acts like you're taking money out of their pocket everytime you use a coupon or ecb. Looks like I'm gonna have to start going to the other one anyway.

I had a great experience as CVS today with the CoverGirl deal. I wasn't sure how it was going to work out but I decided to try getting everything for mostly free. I bought:

(1) CoverGirl Clean liquid foundation - $4.99
(1) CoverGirl & Olay Simply Ageless - $15.99
- $4/$20
- (1) $1 off any CoverGirl product
- (1) free face item with foundation purchase
total out of pocket: $.84 (all tax)
total savings was $22.19

The computer was trying to take off the $4.99 and I asked about it. I pointed out what the coupon said and the cashier said that she couldn't do anything. I asked to talk to the manager and she called him to the front. I showed him the coupon and told him that since there's no limit on it, I should be able to get the $15.99 item for free. He read the coupon and agreed. He told the cashier to override it. :)

I don't even wear makeup... maybe I'll start now.

To calculate sales tax use this formula (from iheartcvs.com):

[{1 - (cvs coupon total/total of merchandise)} x taxable total ] x your tax rate

Use coupons in this order:
$/$$ off cvs Q
ECBs
then manf. Q’s

Be careful not to get a negative amount at the end!! By using this method I had oop's $.04 and $.00 last week.

I had frustrations with the covergirl deal this weekend too. At the Tallahassee store I used the cashier told me I could not use the $1 off covergirl coupon with the B1G1 coupon, and then only gave me $4.99 off the cost of my "free" item. It was 7.99 so I had to pay the difference out of pocket. On top of that, the register beeped when I tried to use 3 Dove chocolate coupons for my 3 bags of Dove chocolate. She said I could only use one per transaction, even though I know that is not the case. The upshot is I ended up spending about $8 out of pocket that I had not intended to spend. So aggravating.

Just had to tell this, I went to one of my local CVSs to get the deals there for the razors, and the covergirl makeup, you are not going to believe how the manager treated me. When the the cashier was having trouble getting the covergirl coupon to work he had to step in. He kept trying to say it was for the wrong amount because the face product was more than the foundation. I had him read the coupon to see that it said buy foundation get face product free. There was no mention of what the money value or either item (i am sure you know what coup. I am talking about). He went on to tell me he thought what I was doing was wrong and that I was costing them money. Can you believe that. I will never go to that store again. Thank goodness I have the other CVS that I usually go to, and they are always so nice. Just had to vent.

To Lyn,
I must mention that after sometime the sales reps understood what I was doing. I think both CVS is getting an understanding of what I am doing. At one CVS one of the sales reps is curious. She leans over to the other cashier to find out how much I paid for 2 suncreens. No doubt the young reps will tell their parents who will really appreciate using coupons

To Lyn.
I did 5 returns today. One from 2 weeks ago. 2 returns each at two stores. I had read in this website about stepping to the back of the line so as not to hold up the line. so I did that at one store. At the other store I waited at the side. Reasons for waiting- I wanted to buy the items again but needed to cancel to maximize my benefit.
CVS did not return the coupons (CVS pharmacy book coupons, not even the manufacturers coupons. At one store I received cash for all coupons and at the other store the coupons was placed on cvs money card. Returns worked well for me because I gained having cash in hand from the manufacturer. Quite a bit of cash today. I practiced the coupon ettiquette that I had learnt here a few weeks prior. I thanked the sales persons for their patience a few times.

Ok, so I am new to this....I did the Cover Girl deal last night and bought the pressed powder and then wanted the mineral veil to be my "FREE". I used the Cover Girl BOGO free and tried to use the $1 off Cover Girl with it. They told me i could not use the $1 off. once I reviewed my receipt at home, i realized that they did not give me the mineral veil for free, it seems that they applied it to the lower cost of the two (the powder). What is the coupon etiquette on going back and asking for an adjustment? Do they do that? I ended up using too many ECB and did not have enough left to buy the batteries that I needed. Will they adjust purchase or is it inappropriate to ask???? Thanks in advance!!

I did pretty good at CVS today. I calculated everything perfectly! :)
I got:

(4) Schick Quattro 4 pack refills ($10.99 each)
(3) Aussie Shampoo/Conditioners ($2.99 each)
(2) Scope mouthwash ($3.49 each)
(2)Healthy Choice Fresh Mixers ($2.50 each)
- (2) $4/$20
- (4) $4 off Schick Quattro
- (2) $2 off Healthy Choice
- $14.93 ECBs
Total out of pocket was $1.36, all tax, and I got back $11 in ECBs!
My subtotal was ZERO!

My total before sales and coupons was $75.59!
