Does anyone know if the Publix coffee comes in flavors…like vanilla or hazelnut?
Rosewood store in Columbia is giving out Publix White Bread.
To evie
Normally the ones that are out for a penny are either regular or decaf. I have never seen flavored ones offered up as the penny item.
I tend to skip this item, I dont drink coffee but my husband does and he says that their coffee is terrible. But, for a penny you can decide for yourself:)
I am a daily coffee drinker and I do not mind the Publix coffee. When I play to buy the cheapest anyway, I can not pass it up for a penny!
I’ve been wanting some decaf for those cool Fall evenings - this is perfect!DH actually drinks an espresso blend that we make in the regular coffee make so he turned his nose up at this - more for me!

Publix in B’ham @ Caldwell Mill & Valleydale subbed salad dressing for the coffee… my husband was bummed!
Publix in Mableton, GA on Veteran’s Memorial is giving Apple Juice - again!
If you don’t like the penny item for the week, go on Monday late afternoon. They are often substituting it because they ran out. I have encountered this many times at Pelham Rd, Wade Hampton, and Pkwy in Greenville, SC.
I received Oreo’s for a penny. They gave me a choice of Publix Coffee or the Oreo’s. (Cumming, GA)
My publix in north Alabama had Quaker Oats Granola cereal as a substitute because the coffee didn’t come in. That’s a $5 cereal I was happy to get for a penny! But, the mgr said the coffee would be in Monday.
My Publix here in Mableton, GA has Apple Juice as the sub. I love that!!!!
The Ashley Phosphate/Dorchester Publix (North Charleston) has Wesson Cooking Oil as the Penny item.
#10 i went to the publix on veterans in mableton and they had the coffee. which one did you go to?
For all of those in B’ham:
The B’ham news had a full page ad from Food World in section A with a $5/$30 purchase and a 10% off of a $50 purchase. Both expire 10/3. Can be used at Publix!!!
If you go in and get the Kellogg’s coupon booklet they are giving now, they have a coupon for 2 dollars off store brand coffee when you buy Special K cereal which is on sale BOGO. I did the following:
Buy:
2 Special K at 2 each- 4
Free Publix bag coupon
Penny item- coffee (2 off)
1 coupon for each cereal box ($2)
makes it all FREE
This works because the coffee is a manufacturer coupon.
Ln,
Thanks for telling us about the Q in the B’ham paper!! I just went through the trash and got mine out. I never actually read the papers I buy. Thanks for sharing the savings.
Raincheck question:
Sorry, I didn’t know where to post this, but I have a question about rainchecks at Publix…I had gotten a raincheck for 4 packages of Planter’s trailmix. I had 4 Food Lion planter’s Qs that I wanted to pair with the BOGO deal. I realized, though, that my raincheck was for all 4 packages but I should only use 1 FLIP per day. So the other day I went to customer service to ask if the raincheck could be used as is or if it could be rewritten as 4 separate rainchecks. She said just to go get the 4 bags of trail mix and come to her register and she would take care of it. So I did, but when she rang it up she all of a sudden said she couldn’t accept them b/c they were giving overage (which I knew, that was the whole point! — and I did buy other items so that they wouldn’t actually be giving me cash back). Well anyway because of that she called in another manager who gave me a really hard time about using all 4 FLIPs at once —I was trying hard not to get frustrated b/c it was the first cashier who told me to! Anyway, I tried to explain what had happened and asked how it should have been done. She would not allow the rainchecks to be written separately and said that was against store policy. Eventually she agreed to take one FLIP (I put back 3 bags of trailmix), but she took my raincheck….so that means I can’t use my other FLIPs or combine the BOGO price with any other coupon either :( So my question is, how do you handle rainchecks for items with matching FLIPs? Thanks…
I think it’s amazing how people have the NERVE to COMPLAIN about the penny item. It’s a PENNY . . . and you’re upset?
****Jenny Here****
I don’t know that anyone above was complaining necessarily just stating differences. I for one am happy with whatever I find that is a penny if I can’t use it someone will :)
Laura #18, I don’t think there is any way around the raincheck issue. It affects me mostly at Harris Teeter with BOGO items where I ordinarily would have gone through checkout more than once so I could use one coupon per BOGO item.
I have had my sister get a rain check as well, and once stopped at another store just to get a second one. But it is pretty frustrating, especially since good BOGOs are frequently sold out.
As for overage, my Publix does not usually allow it at all… they cap the store coupon at the real price of the item. That is fine with me.
My Publix was subbing a box of vanilla wafers.
Jennifer,
If you wanted the coffee instead, the Trolley Rd Publix had it. ;0) I have a Q if you want it.
@ Ashley #18,
Which Kelloggs coupon booklet are you referring to?
Oops! That was Ashley #16.
I don’t think the Publix coffee is that bad. I usually mix it w/ whatever coffee I’m dring at the time and can’t tell the difference. Also, as stated above it is just a penny…
I also don’t think anyone was complaining but I am sorry that you are upset. I was telling my Mother-in-law about the penny item yesterday and explaining that sometimes they run out and they substitute but it’s a penny so who cares if I don’t like it I give it to someone who will or throw it into my ever expanding charity box.
I got coffee on my trip for myself yesterday. I am making a trip for my mom today (she is handicapped) so we’ll see what she gets. She has the same attitude that I have… she is happy to get some much stuff for so little money and free (or a penny) is free!
do all publix stores have the penny items? i live in sw fl & have never seen these before?
duh sorry just went back to top & saw your *. thanks anyway.
Finally got to actually read the Sunday paper…. found a coupon for Starbucks in the A section. $2 for an iced grande after 2:00pm.
