Friday Finals 10/9

Posted on Oct 10 2009 | By Jenny · Comments

Okay it’s really Saturday morning now, it just slipped my mind tonight.  We had a good week.  My husband and I had an hour date to CVS where I attempted to have him record me.  That didn’t go so well, but we had fun.  Maybe next time…

I was too exhausted to come home and line everything up so I took a buggy overloaded picture instead.  It is great to see how full a buggy can be for only $60 bucks!

I reached an all time high this week at Publix. I got $242.27 for $84.47 and it was on two receipts so I will make $10 in the SC Johnson rebate for a total savings of $74.47. When I walked out, a lady from a lane over said, "Girl, you just robbed Publix." I just grinned from ear to ear.

Total for CVS, Kroger, & Harris Teeter (I normally only do CVS and 1 grocery store...) was $170.50.

    I spent $39. I saved $131.50, or 77%!

Thanks Jenny, for all you do! I recently taught a couponing class at a church event and I directed everyone to this site!
  • I was able to save a lot this week as well. I spent a little more than I saved but that was because I had to purchase several items we needed at Walmart without coupons. I am hoping this will go down as our stock pile grows. It is so exciting to see and experience. I am actually enjoying this.

HI.....is the weekly top deals or best prices at all something that is not getting written about anymore? I am looking for it but can't find it...anyone, anyone? :)

I saved %30.5 this week at Publix, which is a pretty good week for me. Thanks Jenny for all you do!

I don't have my receipts handy but have always been frugal - now my daughters are 24 and 22 - I am so happy that they were really listening and watching while they were growing up! They are great shoppers - just like their mom ;)

Why do I always seem to have one receipt hiding from me on Friday? Oh, well. I know how much the total was, just not exactly what the savings was for Kroger.

    Kroger:
    10 packs of Boca Burgers

    OOP - $18.90
    Saved - ~$11.00

    Food Lion -
4 packs hot dogs, 3 pks chicken brst tenders, clearance ground beef, gallon OJ

    pre-savings - $33.85
    OOP - $13.82
    Saved - $20.03

    Bi-Lo
3 gal milk, enough canned pineapple to last through the holidays, enough Kleenex to (hopefully) last through the winter, leaf lettuce, several lbs carrots, 2 bags onions, lg chuck roast, bag potatoes, 2 pie pumpkins

    Pre-savings - $58.18
    OOP - $8.92 ($20 pd w/GC earned previously)
    Saved - $49.86

    WAGs -
A few TheraFlu, EmergenC, Robitussin 2 go, several Herbal Essence, travel iron/steamer, lots of pot hangers.

    pre-savings $89.83
    OOP - $7
    Saved - $82.83
    $6 RR remaining

    Publix:
Stack of GoodLife dry cat food, 8 Scrubbing Bubbles, bunch of Glade Soy candles, 4 cans Raid, 6 two-liter Dr Pepper, 6 Juicy Juice, several Progresso soups, 8 Pills. biscuit, 2 bread, several reusable bags

    Pre-savings - $129.77
    OOP - $22.60
    Saved - $107.17

The purchases were multiple trips, on multiple receipts, and qualified for several rebates. I did not subtract those from the total. It would have been a negative total if I had.

    Weekly:
    Pre-savings - $341.53
    OOP - $71.24
    Savings - $270.29

    Analysis for the week.
There were no real splurges this week. The concentration was on getting a small stock of winter misery meds and tissues. Those are things that are much better to have on hand when needed. I purchased some gift items, rebate qualifiers, our Boca Burgers, and now have plenty of onions and potatoes to last a couple of months. Other than perishables, the list of things that we'll soon need to resupply is now very short, other than the perpetually listed TP and GoodNites.

My daughters went out shopping and bought 2 pair of nice, like new jeans and a skirt for $3 each, and a $29 blouse for $7.

Not a particularly cheap week, but also not a particularly expensive week.
