I stopped to get a paper today at Publix (Kennerly Crossing in Irmo)and they had them behind the checkout counters- I guess people had been stealing coupon inserts? Also, I opened my RedPlum insert today and the coupons on the first seven pages all say “Do Not Double” even the ones under 50 cents. I guess the companies are on to us couponers :( Still, I am very thankful to be able to save some money-Jenny, thanks so much for this site!

I got two papers today (one from my mom and one from another relative) and both were missing the SS insert. Did anyone in the Birmingham area get the SS?

I don’t get that paper. For some reason, I never get one, but others in my neighborhood do. We can’t figure out how they determine who gets it and who doesn’t, but I never get it. My neighbor always gets it, and he doesn’t want it (single older guy with no desire to coupon or cook), so he lets me have it.

Argh…my husband stopped to pick up a few papers (Greenville News) for me at Walgreens and there were no inserts at all. The clerk told him before he purchased them. He said there were papers everywhere, I guess where people were trying to see if the inserts were there. We usually get a stack that are still tied but none of them had them.

What do you mean by cutting the paper in thirds? Changing the Print setting? or actually cutting the paper (didn’t think that was right)? Thanks!

Yeah, that’s exciting when your neighbors don’t STEAL your Thursday Edge from your driveway. I had a not so pleasant conversation with a mom down the street who was taking papers from other people’s driveways as she walked home from the school bus with her kids. AARGH! Her rationale was that it was a free paper, blah blah blah. Please ask your neighbors if you can have their paper before you help yourselves- 4 families on my cul-de-sac gave me their blessing to take theirs.

What my mom does is to cut the paper in thirds so that only the coupon prints. That way you get 3 coupons off one sheet of paper.

We are new “couponers” and trying to get the groove of couponing. However, we have noticed there sometimes is a lot of wasted paper when printing internet coupons. Not wanting to discard the remnants, we save them and when we have a few hundred, take them to a local printer that cuts them uniformly and glues them in pads of fifty sheets. He does this free of charge and we have notepads.

I cancelled my subscription to my paper because the coupons lately do not justify the expense any more….most food q’s are for processed overpriced items–I cook from scratch to save money and for health, who buys this crap? If you want to save money on food, learn to cook!
…the occasional good Q for non perishables like TP and dish soap are lower in value and increasingly rare….

A friend of mine carried papers years ago and he said they had to put all the ads in the papers each week. Don’t know what method they use now but would be interesting to know since sometimes I get mine and at times I don’t.

Oh, I’m going to look to see what Sales Publix has after these new coupons. The Family Style Magazine published a $4.00 off a woolite rug stick….so if I combine with $3.00 manufactuer…thats a nice deal. I’m crossing my fingers for when it goes on sale to see if I can get it for free. :) (From FL)

Kind of off topic..but I had what I think is a great idea and wanted to share. I went thru and clipped all the medicine coupons ie nyquil, theraflu, aspirin and Im keeping them in a ziplock bag in my purse. This is the time of year people get sick; and they are calling me to pk up something on the way home. Now I feel better prepared to save!!

for the Atlanta area girls, check the newspaper they leave in the driveway on Thursday (white bag, red writing). They have the RP, SS and sometime PG coupons in them along with some ads! They are pretty much the same coupons that are in the Sunday paper!!!

This happens to me all the time! I just called the paper to complain, and she said to bring my papers down there, and they would give me the missing inserts. I just wonder if the machine they use to stuff the paper is messed up, or is someone actually stealing the inserts. It is just hit and miss with which ones are in there.

Also, sometimes I think they try to hide the fact that they stole the flyers out and shove the papers down below. I always figured I wouldn’t take one off the top because I thought for sure it would be missing the flyers…but not so that time I bought one and they flyers were missing…I found the paper down below a few other papers and someone had shoved it back after they stole the flyers. So, you never know!!
