Friday Finals 11/20

Posted on Nov 21 2009 | By Jenny · Comments

I spent all day today thinking it wasn’t Friday.  This week went by so fast that I think it’s really maybe Wednesday.

We made two trips this week to Kroger and to Publix.  They weren’t big trips, just a few of the sale items I wanted.  Next week we don’t need much but I’m ready for Black Friday drugstore deals!!

Kroger:
Total before sales and coupons: $80.94
Total Spent: $41.57
Total Saved: $39.37 or 48.6%

All I bought was meat & milk.  7 lbs of Chicken, 12 lbs of Pork, 3 lbs of marked down Salmon.  It was a great meat sale to be able to buy things that have no coupons and still save that much!!  I did have $6 off your next trip coupons from a previous trip.

Publix:
Total Before Sales and Coupons: $34.67
Total Spent: $ 14.56
Total Saved: $20.11 or 58%

Weekly Total:
Before Sales: $115.61
Spent: $56.13
Saved:  $59.48 or 51.4%

How did you do this week?  Leave a comment or a link to your savings post.

Wags last Saturday - finished stocking up on Kleenex; bought more First Aid supplies, makeup, cold & flu remedies. What I REALLY wanted was canned pumpkin, but I never found it in any of the Wags last week. They all said that they had gotten in several cases, but that it had been bought up immediately.

    Store value - $107
    OOP - $2.70
    Savings - $104.30
    Remaining RR - $33

Bi-Lo - My favorite trip because it was all things that I had to buy, either now or soon. I bought our twenty something lb. turkey. I also reached my .20/gal off on gasoline. Didn't bother w/the cereal deal because I've been giving cereal away left and right.

1st trip - all Green Giant frozen veggies & the big cans of Margaret. Holmes canned greens. (Yes, I have a family of kiddos who were raised to love cooked leafy greens.)
    Before savings - $18.50
    OOP - $3.61
    Savings - $14.89

    Second trip
    Before savings - $74.49
    OOP - $25.56
    Savings - $48.93

    Pre-savings Total - $92.99
    Total savings - $63.82
    Total OOP - $29.17

Publix- On the trip that I spent dollars I bought some things that I didn't really want, and really didn't need. They had an overstock and I bought it just to help move some of the product out. I didn't even have q's for items. Silly reason, but my way of doing a small good turn for the grocery manager, even though he'll never know.

    Trip 1
    Value - $37
    Cost - $0
    Savings $37

    Trip #2
    Pre-Savings - $52.77
    OOP - $15.84
    Savings - $36.93

    Total Value - $79.77
    total OOP - - $15.84
    Total Savings - $63.93

Kroger - Got RC's for all the meat that I wanted from the 4 day sale. That works just as well for me because I've got such a good stock from summer sales and we can work on consuming more of that and creating more room. I bought batteries, eggs, and clearance bread, and used my OYNO's from the Krusteaz. Purchases involved several transactions

    Total value - $129.38
    Total OOP - $11.28
    Total savings - $118.10 ~91%

    Total value - $409.14
    Total OOP - $58.99
    Total savings - $350.15 or 86%

Additional purchases were 12 cans of veggies at Target for $2.40 and one head of celery at Aldi for .69.
  • Hi, Mina- Awesome job! I noticed you said you are giving away "cereal left and right....." well, I am excited to say there will now be one more outlet for that, that will serve the community, called- "The Food Boutique" serving "those who are not used to needing help (but the economy has changed their lives)." Anyway, I will leave my email, hopefully that's okay (!) but I cannot wait to tell people about it! Here it is- meredith@goodteamworks.com if you'd like to give away more cereal:)
