My Publix run on Monday I was so excited I called a girlfriend and woke her up! Time flies when you are saving money...I had no idea how late it was...granted it was only 9:30, but I normally don't initiate calls after 9. Anyway, I got $79 for $26. My average grocery savings is around 45-50%, so this felt huge! Plus, since I'm trying to stay to a budget of $100/week (family of 6), I really felt like I'd done well. I'm happy to report, at teh end of my first two weeks, I went over less than $20 total and probably wouldn't have had to do that if I hadn't had to buy food and paper goods for the jewelry party I hosted!

Today I did an end of the week Riteaid and Walgreens run. Walgreens I got the 3 cans of tomoato sauce for free. My teen who was with me, commented as we exited the store, "I feel kinda bad not paying anything." I explained they were reimbursed from the manufacturers and she felt better.

But Riteaid this week was the real steal. $137 for $3 and change, once you factor in SCR for this trip. And $1.82 of that $3 is tax! But that isn't all! In addition to the SCR, I'll get a tote with free samples and coupons. I also used this trip to qualify for the free $40 kitchen set (you don't even pay S/H)!

So Riteaid today was over a $190 value for less than $4 out of pocket!!! I don't have a calculator and I'm way past exhausted, but I think that is around a 98% savings?

This was a really good week for me. I normally do not save 95%, it's usually more like 50-60%.

I started tracking all of our spending in October in an excel spreadsheet. We are in the process of buying a home and I was quite happy with the overall totals. With saving $456 or 40% off all of the store purchases, I know we were able to put that money easier into savings without feeling so tight on our money.

I did more shopping, both in number of transactions and number of store visits, this week than I have done in a long time. I shopped at Bi-Lo, Publix, Kroger, and WAG's. There were so many small transactions that it would take me most of the night to track down all of my receipts and give a detailed breakdown.

I didn't take the full advantage that I could have of any single store's sales or glitches, and stuck with buying only things that we will use or give away in a relatively short term and winter OTC meds. I really don't want too many weeks like this, because it quickly gets tiring and can easily become an unhealthy obsession instead of a blessing. There's also the storage issue. It's only possible to store so much and still have everything readily accessible and easy to find!

My favorite deals of the week were the Nature Valley products and Progresso broth at Publix; the .89/gal milk, Green Giant veggies, and powdered egg whites at Bi-Lo; parchment paper, evaporated milk, rubber gloves, batteries, and TP at Kroger; and First Aid supplies, makeup, soup, and $3/7pair clearanced socks (for ME!) at WAG's. We were almost out of both the parchment paper and rubber gloves; so, that was a 'just in time' sale for me.

Altogether -

It was a good week for shopping.

Jenny, you left me laughing SO hard because I'm *too* familiar with the Mrs. H. of whom you spoke. It's an ongoing joke that if she's on duty, any transaction I do is going to go a bit awry. She's really okay. Just a bit serious. Now I know why there was no Almay foundation there when I went on Tuesday; you had been there. ;-) I did okay when I went there today, though. They were still out-of-stock in a few things I've been looking for for weeks, but they did have a couple of foundations, which made my girls very happy.

WOW! I thought I did good this week until I read your comment. That is awesome. How did you do it? I did CVS and Publix. CVS $101 worth for a $27 profit (after I get the $19 rebates I submitted for. Publix $95 for $24.

I counted both mine and m fiance's savings in the CVS totals. I bought a bunch of Glade stuff with a bit of a profit and I got $60 worth of cold meds for nothing oop. I need to submit the Glade stuff for the J&J rebate. I've got a bunch of receipts, so I can send them to my home and my fiance's. I love making money for buying stuff!

Also, at Kroger, I mostly bought the stuff that was free or free+. I've had Dole coupons in my coupon file for months that I've been waiting for a good time to use. With Dole and Bumble Bee tuna, I made $10 on one transaction.
