Not sure if this is local to my store or not, but in Manassas, VA, Hot Pockets and Lean Pockets breakfast items are 2 for $2. With the 9/27 $.75/1 RP coupon, you can get them for free during triples! Maybe it is all HTs?

You’re absolutely right about the HTs in Charlotte: policy depends on store management. On today’s trip, you would think no policy changes have happened. I’ve always been able to use 2q’s on BOGO items, no DND/DNT issues, and I’ve used up to 10 printables at once. The only rule set in stone is the 20q limit per 24 hours, which I think is a generous amount.

I know there is bound to be corporate griping about enforcing the policy to management. In defense, I’d just like to add: HT’s system would not be set up to ring half price if they really only wanted 1q on a BOGO. The DND/DNT q’s I use are rare and hardly warrant getting hand-keyed, and my printables are always legitimate. Truth be told, the HT today was simply too busy making money, too high-volume to be that picky. If their cashiers had to scrutinize every q, the lines would be back to the meat section!

That said, the HT at Ardrey Kell/Johnston Road(521) in South Charlotte has a very coupon-friendly manager who coupons himself.

The HT just a few miles up the road, at Johnston Road(521)/John J. Delaney is much less friendly to couponers. Here, I’ve had cashiers completely scrutinize my coupons for expiration dates (I never use expired coupons) and DND/DNT before even beginning to apply them. I also get attitude from the cashiers if I’m too successful.

Whereas at the “coupon friendly” store at AK/521 scans willfully and happily and just this morning the cashier sat and flat out marveled over the full bag of food that I got for $1.04!

I find the HTs at Harris Blvd@Mallard Creek Rd and University Blvd@UNCC a little higher priced. I’ve noticed substantially higher prices in well-off neighborhoods like Dilworth@East Blvd and Sedgefield@Park Rd, and at the small HT Express stores in Myers Park (old money) and Uptown (new money). The priciest I’ve found is the ritzy Southpark@Morrison Blvd HT–also known around town as the Taj MaTeeter or the Food Museum.

If you’ve never been, the Taj is worth the trip just to see the Floral and Produce Depts, the Deli, and the Meat Cases…the only place I’ve ever seen fresh rattlesnake for sale alongside the sashimi tuna!
