Home Depot Christmas Light Trade In
· CommentsNow through November 15th if you bring any regular, non green, non efficient, string o’ lights to Home Depot they will give you $3 off a new string of LED Christmas lights. Go here for more information.
This makes 50 string LED lights around $2.95.
(thanks Natalie!)
Maybe I’m tired this morning, but this makes me a sad for all the regular strings of lights. They are being sent to the land of misfit toys…

The efficiency part sounds great for my electric bill.
Can anyone say if the LED lights look like or give off the glow similar to the old fashioned lights? Or do they have a blue-ish like tint?
We actually switched ours out last year when they ran this same deal. They look almost the same. Though I still feel bad for my old lights that were perfectly good.
Rudolf and Hermie will visit them.
I’ve found that there are variations in the look. Some do look blue and very cold to me, but others are not as harsh. Many stores have a display where you can see each style light up by pushing a button. Target usually has a wonderful display like this. It helps you see how they will look.
i don’t care for the ‘color’ of the LED lights. They seem to be a very pale blue to me.
I heard you could even take in burned out strands. I’m excited about this. I was hoping for some LED strands in the after christmas clearance last year but either they were all gone, or no one clearanced them. I’m planning to check this out tonight!
I saw LED lights on clearance at Lowe’s last year. Lowe’s puts their Christmas stuff on clearance well before Christmas. I just checked my Quicken records, and the last holiday purchase I made at Lowe’s last year was 12/12 — and I distinctly remember lights were already 50% off at that point.
Home Depot waits a lot longer, if I recall correctly.
Thanks for the tip! I wondered why they were already gone!
Target goes 50% off on their lights on Dec. 26th. I’ve racked up over the past two years.
I always have to buy 1 or 2 new strings every year anyway! Sounds like a good deal to me….if I can find any that is! :)
Anyone know the expiration date for the coupons?
