New to couponing...what's the correct procedure to get the penny item? My hubby took a stack of coupons and a list I prepared for him to Publix. No problems with any of the coupons except the penny item coupon. I told him to get the Publix hot chocolate and use the penny coupon. Then he got to the register and he was told the penny item was the bleach others have mentioned. Should we not pick up the penny item off the shelf but instead wait for the cashier to tell us exactly what it is? Do they keep a stock near the front when it's the penny item?

It is usually at the front when you first come in. However, not always...I usually ask someone who works there before I go to check out if I can't find it. Hope that's helpful.

Airport RD (Huntsville, AL) was substituting Mussellman's Applesauce this morning. I would rather have my kids eat the applesauce so I was happy.

I spoke with the manager of my Publix and he didn't know anything about the "mystery penny item". I told him to get with the program. I'm missing out!

The publix on Hugh Howell in Tucker had/has the large jugs of sunmaid raisins as their penny item. Awesome!

Don't know if anyone here shops at the Conyers/Covington Publix stores, but we are getting a Food Lion within 5 miles of at least one Conyers store and the Covington store...hopefully they will be considered a competitor so we can use Food Lion coupons at Publix.

Friendship Rd. Publix off I-985 had marshmallows as the penny item. This will go great with the hot chocolate I hope to get tomorrow at the Sugar Hill Publix.

Im confused...I looked all through Sundays paper and did not see any penny item...I am new to this and have never seen a penny item. WHat does it look like? Please help!

Neveremind! Just saw that Fl doesn't participate in the penny item! lol cant believe i spent 15 minutes scouring the dumb newspaper for that! did find country crock website giving 50 cent off 1 and delmonte website giving $1 off 4 cans which is good coupon to have though!

Amazon always has great savings on magazines and just about everything you can imagine. I sent my husband a hint with a link to a year subscription to O magazine for 5 dollars!

The Publix in Cartersville, Ga is subsituting betty crocker frosting for the penny item- at least for today when I used my coupon. Works for me.

Great trip to the Sixes Road store in Canton today -got my free Hot Chocolate - and $155 worth of groceries for $48 !!! And I never have a problem there, always so nice and patient with the coupons.

Publix on Briarcliff & LaVista in Atlanta had multi-pack Ziploc containers in holiday colors for the penny item....which is a lot better than cocoa IMO!

When did they put a Publix on Briarcliff and LaVista?? Do you mean LaVista N. Druid Hills in the Toco Hills shopping center? I hope so, because I have an eye doc appointment at Toco Hills and we go through gladware like crazy!!

Our Publix penny item was paper towels. Honestly, I'm glad. We needed paper towels a lot more than we need more chocolate in the house! : )

I just found out the publix on memorial in Murfreesboro is closing! I am so bummed! That is my favorite store. Luckily the employees will be transfered elsewhere, but it wont be the same :(

Bummer. It's the only one in that area. The other Publix I shop is on Old Fort/HWY 96. They take Target coupons so I would go there when I had them. Also a new Publix on Sam Ridley...takes Target and Food Lion coupons.

The Peachtree City penny item was Idaho mashed potatoes. (flakes in a pouch)

I believe this is important for you all to know.

I had a cashier ask me how many coupons I had after I handed her my first one. Then she told me I needed to give her B1G1 coupons first from now. I did not believe her, and felt like it was a lie. And of course I do not understand why she needs to know how many coupons I have.

I called the manager when I got home. So, I found out some information I did not know, and many of you might not know as well.

He told me 4 months ago there was a B1G1 on M&M's. People would come in with 30 of these coupons. It's called "mass couponing". The manufacturer will not pay the store for "mass coupons", and the store takes a hit. There's been memo's put out to all the stores about this. And that's why we are seeing more and more coupon limitations as the days go by. This is why we are not being treated very well sometimes as average everyday coupon shoppers.

If any of you are mass couponing or know someone who mass coupons, they need to know this, otherwise shopping and saving for our families will be much harder for all.

The Duluth Hwy Publix in Lawrenceville, GA substituted big roll paper towels. Totally fine with me! :)

The Publix at Lake Oconee, Georgia substituted Publix Bleach. :( However, I am still smiling because I did get some great deals on other things. Love Publix!!!

The Grayson, Ga Publix is substituting bleach this week. :( I didn't even want it last week when it was the official item.

The Acworth Publix (Cedarcrest Road) had bleach too. And I noticed their prices were slightly higher on some things, so I went back to my usual one at Crossroads and got my great deals and penny hot chocolate. :)

The Seven Hills Publix about 2 miles down Cedarcrest Road had the hot chocolate. They keep them on display at the service desk

Where can you find a winter savings booklet?

New to couponing, does anyone know where to get the green/yellow advantage flyers?

Sometimes they are where you would find the sales ad. Some stores might keep them at costumer service. It just varies by store.
