    Hi
I did a few runs to Walgreens on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Prepared my lists with appropriate coupons and WAGs instore coupons and my $24 in RR from last week. I totalled everything up last night and found I had puchased $366.03 worth of products for $75.10 OOP. Three purchases were for 2 ROCs products on sale for($80) and Eucerin cream products on sale for($26). I cashed in a total of $146.38 in MFG coupons (which included a bunch of RR that were accumulated during the three days of shopping) that were described on various websites that teach us how to shop at Walgreens, $37.92 in WAGs sale flyer coupons, $81.63 in WAGs sale priced items, and $25 in RR for 5 of the the $25 purchases. Without the ROCs and Eucerin products I purchased $302.03 in products and had out of pocket of $11.10. I made a couple of mistakes by including RR items in a purchase and used RRs to pay so did not get any RR for them. Also used a $5 off of $25 RR in a purchase and did not get one back. Still learning but I appreciate these sites that provide such valuable information. Lots of stuff to give away for Christmas, Angel Tree, Shelters etc. Merry Christmas!!

Note: Two of the Walgreen's stores I visited would not accept computer/internet generated coupons. I was at one of them last week and did not have a problem. I have called the corporate office to inquire. Spoke with customer relations and someone is to get back to me. I am going to request that if a store chooses to not accept internet coupons they need to post on their front doors so we do not waste our time.

Ok–I think if I return an item purchased with RR, then I will only get back what I paid, minus the RR–thus losing the RR…correct?

Now if I buy something that generates a RR, but was not purchased with a RR, if I return it, will I get back the full value that I paid or will they subtract the RR amount generated? Say I bought something for $40 and got $5 RR…if I return the $40 item, will I get back my $40 or just $35?
  • emmasantos
a lesson learned yesterday. in myrtle beach you can not buy more than one item on one ticket than you want your RR after. I bought 4 of the hair acces. and only got one RR. cashier told me I couldn't get all four.
  • JEB
    The ad says no...sorry
  • debra
Question? Can I purchase a $25 gift card and get the $5 RR bonus?
    Any help is appreciated.
  • JEB
    The ad says no…sorry
  • JEB
I am confused and upset. LAst night I used a register reward to buy something over $25 and according to the 4 day sale ad, if you spend $25, then you get $5 register rewards…Mine did not print. I should have voided the transaction or asked for rewards back or gotten a manager, but I was tired and it was late and there was line of people behind me…The cashier said if you pay with register rewards, then it won’t print new ones….now I know I have done that very thing at another Walgreens at least twice, and my register rewards printed when I paid with register rewards….I want to go back and talk to manager or return everything and rebuy but do it in the proper sequence…I feel like they owe me $5….
  • JEB
If I had known it was not going to print, then I would have used the $5 RR to pay for a princess toy gift that after RR and $4 off toy coupon would have been $1!! Instead, I bought that in second transaction but ended up having to pay $6 for it....If I go back today and buy another item over $25 will it print $5 RR? If so, then I will use that to buy another toy....Then return the stuff I got the night before later...not trying to make a profit or fraud, just wanted to get my toy for $1!
  • Ashley
    I have a question yall.

I worked out my whole plan and scenario for my 3rd trip to Walgreens. I had done my first two trips at the same store and the 3rd was at a second Walgreens. I paid out of pocket $4.08 but at this second store my $5 on $25 didn't print. I used $17 RR and was planning on $11 RR back. I spoke with the assistant manager and blah blah blah. He told me to call in the morning to speak with store manager.

Should I just let this go, or try to have her understand to side with the customer since I recieved the rr's at another store, or do you think she'll even credit me the $5?
  • Sommer F
Just a quick FYI for anyone in the Jacksonville, FL area:
The Stim-u-Dent RR is not printing out, so watch carefully. I have tried purchasing at the Mandarin/San Jose and Fleming Island store. The cashiers were both very nice and the managers just rang up an additional Conair item so I received all of my RRs.
  • Donna S
For those of you that bought the Just for Men, not sure if you know of this or not but thought I would post it...
You can get a rebate for it. I added the rebate link for you! :)

The Scotch tape 3pks at my WAGS had q's for $2 off Scotch gift wrap cutter. They are also on sale for $3.99 this week. HTH!
  • Rebekah
This RR yall got it going but I'm still trying to figure it out...I seriously see CVS ECB's as being a better program..but I'm not sure how to start that either.
  • Meme
Okay, I messed up royally this afternoon. I had all my transactions written down, coupons sorted, and then the shelves were bare. So I stood in an empty aisle and did my calculations over with alternative coupons and scenarios.

When I checked out I thought I understood the clerk to say if I used the $5 RR made on the first $25 purchase on the second transaction, I wouldn't have another one print out. Was this correct? It completely undid my second and third transactions.

I came home with alot of RR's but had alot of OOP expense.

I also have another problem. My husband was NOT thrilled I bought him hair color. Will I have trouble returning it after getting the RR for it?

Thanks for all your tips. Meme
  • Mina
Oh, and your clerk was correct. The HDRR's don't roll. They did last year, but not this year. There were ways to avoid much OOP expense, even if several items were OOS, but it was challenging to work them out along with $5HDRR offer. You'll get better at it.
  • Mina
Save the haircolor and give it as gag gift to someone for one of those decade marker birthdays. ;-)

All RR's state, "Register Rewards must be forfeited if qualifying merchandise is returned." In this case, in order to comply with the the terms of the reward, you would have to give back the $7 one from the coloring, and would also have to forfeit the $5 HDRR if your total would have been under $25 without the purchase. Your store may not force you to do that, but it is the terms of the agreement. It's considered coupon fraud when people buy products using coupons, just so they can return the product afterward to make make a profit. I doubt that was your intention, but it's probably a reputation that you'd rather avoid cultivating for yourself. I wrote that out mainly so that anyone who didn't know and read it could avoid do something that wasn't legal.
  • Meme
Oh YIKES! I would never have considered the return on the hair color if I realized all the implications. I was very tired and just disgusted with myself for not walking out and waiting another day until they restocked my original list. I needed the money for the power bill so I was especially upset with myself for not waiting.

I guess my husband remembers an older friend of ours who showed up recently sporting a headful of red hair. LOL It was not very flattering. So I see his point.

Thanks again for all the good suggestions made on the problem. Meme
  • Momof2 (Greer)
Please don't return it. It was technically free anyway, just donate it to someone.
  • Teresa-QOCD
send off for the rebate, that's what I did.
  • Meme
Thanks for the tips. That helps my feelings alot. I will sleep better tonight. Meme
  • Angel in Charleston
Might be better (easier) to donate the hair color ...
  • Sarah D
Just an FYI suggestion: if you still have the $5 Q from last weeks' Target post you can use it at WAGS 4 day sale on the Kellogg's cereals that are $1.99 each. You will get 4 boxes of cereal for $3. My total purchases for today were $106.77 before coupons and $35.11 after or a savings of 67%. I still have a couple of RR's left over in case I want to do another run tomorrow. Thanks, Jenny...Christmas gifts, give aways for charity, fun stuff, and, of course, some L'Oreal for me
  • CJ
I subscribe to All You but can't find the Neutrogena coupon. Can anyone tell me where in the mag I can find it? Thanks!
  • Courtney
it was the December issue, i believe
  • Rebekah
Anyone still need the Triaminic coupons?
    I have (2) $3 off & the other one (2) $2 off.
I won't use them and I hate for them to go to waste.
  • Rebekah
    gone..thanks for inquiries
  • Mina
Rebekkah, I would love them since we've been going through more than a box a day because I've had so many using it. They wouldn't have time to get here for this week's offer, but I would still use them. I got embarrassingly grouchy when I found that 3 of my 5 papers that I bought at Kroger were missing their inserts. The only thing I really, really wanted were the Triaminic q's. If the offer still stands, you can contact me at humidhumor* gmail. com - Just replace the first * with @ and get rid of the extra spaces. I try to avoid spam bots that grab emails from posts.
  • Ginger
I feel ya. FOUR of my papers were missing inserts. I was furious. I called the paper to complain, but they won't do anytyhing. They probably figure people just stole them, and maybe they did. Sigh.
  • Vanessa
If you still have the coupons, I could use them. I have been buying that stuff like crazy and giving it to the local women and children shelter. They always have big needs and they could never get deals like I do. My email is vannacook@yahoo.com.
  • chris
i could use them! email me at chris@truckerstoystore.net
  • Sarah D
Just a suggestion, but I sometimes give them to the "cosmetics counter" lady since she keeps a coupon box so she can give them to her customers...and, she always returns the favor. Or, send them off to one of the overseas bases - it's easy and inexpensive to mail them off
  • Teresa
BEWARE if you want to buy multiple mail-in rebates, DO NOT put them on the same receipt. All of the rebates require an ORIGINAL receipt so you cannot copy them and send the copies in to get the rebate! (I found this out the hard way!)
  • Ashley
What do you mean ? Are you saying if I bough 10 Wheat Thins at one time on a single receipt, I will not get my rebate?
  • Natalie
No she's saying that for example your crackers and lotions each qualify for a mail in rebate to not but them all on one receipt as one original receipt must be sent to the cracker people and one to the lotion people- you always must send an original receipt and if you put them all in one you would miss out on one of the rebates.

I was in Wal-green's last night and had absolutely no problems with my coupons and RR's. I used a free Glade Lasting Impressions coupon, a $3.00 off Glade scented oil refills, and $8 in RR's and purchased the Glade products along with several other things. Total was $35 before coupons. I ended up with the $5 RR printing out as well as a Tylenol $2 off coupon printing out. My second transaction resulted in $8 of RR printing out. Now I have $13 in RR to use, an I ended up spending less than $20 on $55 worth of merchandise - so all in all I spent around $6. Great tip - the Christmas cups, tins, serving dishes (paper), etc... are 4/$1 and make great filler items!
  • Felicia
I cannot find the Triaminic Walgreens coupon. I have the Healthy Savings book and the December Savings book and don't see it anywhere. Anybody know where I should look?
  • Sloan
The $5 RR on $25 is definitely after coupons. This morning I spent $1.67 after RR and coupons (including a $9.99 toy!) and still got the $5 back, as all as RR for all the other products I purchased. They were out of the brushes/hair things and stayfree, already. Did get the stimudent, men's nivea, toy, dulcolax (still free with hang tag Q), and bag of cookies. I just didn't pull out my coupons until after she pressed the total button.
  • Amy
    You mean before couponds...right :)
  • Ashley
No, I believe she means after. Give cashier all the coupons which brings the price lower than $25 and still get the RR.
  • Vanessa
No Amy is right. That would be before coupons. The total has to be $25 before the coupons are scanned (total can be less than $25 after coupons), not $25 out of pocket like Jenny said it was last year.
  • Amy
    You mean before couponds...right :)

Has anyone been told by Walgreens that they "do not compete with anyone"? The walgreens cashier told me that this past weekend when I tried to use a CVS card (for the M%Ms premiums). Is this so?
  • Sloan
She was probably tring to tell you that they do not accept competitor's coupons or price match with competitors. Occassionally, I will see a price match at CVS or Rite Aid for prescription prices only, but I have never heard of a pharmacy price matching on general merchandise or taking competitor's coupons.
  • Rebekah
I went to Wags to purchase 1 of the 16 ct Stayfree pads for $1.99 and getting $1.99RR (but it printed $2RR instead:) ) I had $1RR to contribute. I found that they tax the original total price($1.99x$0.07=$0.1393+$1.99=$2.1293-$1.00RR=$1.1293=$1.13) so I ended up paying $1.13. For some reason I thought the $0.99 would have been taxed after the coupon was taken off. Oh well just make sure you have more money than you think you will need with RR.

I'm not sure what to use my $2RR on because they expire in like 2 weeks. I don't think I like "playing" with RRs. I haven't tried ECB's at CVS but they can't possibly be this hard to understand. I did email Wags from the website (because there was no information on the website about it or if so can someone give me the link?) to see if they could send me rules for it...I haven't heard anything back yet.
  • Mina
Other than the prohibited categories printed on the side of the RR, use the RR on anything you want, as long as the total of your transaction will be $2 or more BEFORE taxes. The items you purchase can be ones that trigger different RR's, or not.

I've found that lots of q's beep at drugstores that don't beep at grocers. Beeps aren't necessarily a bad thing. As long as your using the q according to the terms written on it, it is valid. The Target q is distributed by Target, but does not say "Redeem ONLY at Target." If it said that, Kellogg's would be under no obligation to reimburse the store even if it went through with no beeps, because the terms of the written agreement had not been met.
  • Rebekah
so you are saying if I spent $2.50 my taxes would still be about $0.18 that I would have to add to my $0.50 after the $2RR is taken off correct?
    $2.50x$0.07(tax)=$0.175(total tax)+$2.50=$2.675-$2RR=$0.675 OOP correct?
  • Mina
Correct in most states. I think Texas and Missouri are the two exceptions that calculate tax after q's. The rest hold the buyer responsible for tax on the total before manufacturer coupons are used.

Store coupons are a different story. Those regulations also vary by state, but they are commonly treated the way they are here in SC.

Think of manufacturer coupons as a form of payment toward the merchandise. They go toward paying a portion of the price the store is charging. The customer is responsible for the rest, including tax.

Now, think of store coupons like you would a sale available to those who present them. Just like a sale, they cause a reduction in the price being charged by the store. And just like paying a sale price means that you pay less in sales tax than you would on the regular price, so does the reduction in price from using the store coupon. You wind up paying tax only on the price the store is charging.

If you are in a state like that and wind up earning one of the $5 Holiday Dollar RR's and spend it on taxable merchandise, your tax will be reduced by 35 cents because the store is actually charging you $5 less. All of the other RR's are Manufacturer coupons; so, they only go toward payment of the total, not a reduction, and the full amount of tax will remain payable.
  • Rebekah
Oh,I also plan on donating these pads to Harvest Hope because it was a great deal. (if you are looking for a good deal on pads Kroger has their Kotex on sale for 2/$5. Use your $2/2 coupon and you get them for $3 even though I prefer Kroger's brand).
  • Laura
I am with you about the RR Rebekah. I only do Wags if it is very little OOP and not much RR to keep up with b/c I do have a hard time trying to spend them before they expire. Even though you can get more RR than what you spend, basically getting free stuff... unless I need the "stuff" I don't spend $25 to get $33 RR. That is just me. I know several people who so the Wags deals and love it.
  • Ashley
Ugh, I get so frustrated with couponing. The register in Simpsonville beeps if you try to use the $5 off 4 Kellog's cereal coupon with Target logo!!

AND, I asked a cosmetics cashier ahead of time if the $5 rr on $25 if the rr would print even after I used all my coupons, and she told me no! I get up there to pay finally and the $5 rr printed even though I only paid $12!

Way to get my scenarios screwed up!
  • Anna
I'm new to Walgreens & am trying to figure out what I will do with all these RR! Can I use them to pay for prescriptions?
  • Heather
I don't know where you live, Anna, but I use mine at Publix. They are manufacturer's coupons and should be taken anywhere, but you may have issues at a less-customer-friendly grocery store. I just hand them over like cash after all my normal coupons come off. I don't even bother trying to use them at Walgreens- too much trouble. I have used them successfully at Publixes in metro Atlanta and Tampa Bay.
  • Mina
No, you cannot. The rules are printed on the side of every RR. Read those and you'll know which items are excluded.
  • Ashley
I'm new too but am 99.99% sure you can't use them for prescriptions. RR's are ''coupons'' and the pharmacy doesn't take them.
  • COUPON ADDICTION
i did this transaction twice no problem!
  • Angel in Charleston
They let you use 2 different store Qs for the same item? That doesn't seem right. You can usually just use one store Q and one manufacturer Q. Just want to make sure I understood your deal correctly ...
  • Courtney
yes, they do! i did this today and it worked great. thanks for the tip!
  • COUPON ADDICTION
Want free snuggle and all soap? This is what I worked out today if you have any bayer coupons left, bayer meters are 14.99 at walgreens, so this will count towards your 25 to get 5rr .

    1 BAYER METER 14.99
    4 SNUGGLE/ ALL 14.00
2 COMTREX DECONGESTANT (FREE WITH IN STORE COUPONS)
    filler item 99cents or less
    USE:
BAYER COUPON UP TO $30 OFF (Will only take off 14.99)
4 $2 off snuggle (will take off $8)
2 $3 off comtrex (will take off $6)

total: you will pay only filler item, and get your $5 rr for spending $25.
  • Ginger
    Hi,
Need help with the Comtrex thing. I have the $3.00 off from the December book, and the $2.00 from the Healthy savings (?) booklet from the pharmacy, but I have been told before you can't use those two books together? But you're saying you can use both, plus the mfr Q, right? Thanks!
  • Amy
Where did you find the snuggie coupons?
  • Vanessa
what in store coupons are you talking about for comtrex? where can i find them?
  • COUPON ADDICTION
To Vanessa, One coupon is in the December coupon book, the other one is on the Healthy savings book. You have to make sure they take both of those off for the comtrex to be free, and since those are walgreens (store coupons) they will still scan your manufacturer coupon from paper, I think it was in November but you can find in under www.hotcouponworld.com database. By using your manufacturer coupon on a free item you will get overage to conver your snuggle or soap.
  • Margaret
I was wondering if anyone has had this problem. I went to walgreens last week and bought the contact solution that was 7.99 with 7.99 back in rewards dollars, I also bought a 29 cents russell stover candy. I used two 2 dollar reward dollars bringing my total to 4.49. Ok so that was fine but then I didn't get the RR. I fought with the manager for at least 30 min. because she said that if the transaction total was not more than the 8 dollar reward I was getting back, it wouldn't print. I saw no where that it said this. Has anyone else had this problem, and what should I do? The RR just didn't print.
  • Mina
Call the Catalina company and give them the info from your receipt. They will be able to tell if you were entitled to an RR and whether one printed. If you were, and it didn't, they will send you one. That is often easier than arguing with the store employees.
  • Sharon
I have found that most Walgreen employees have no idea how the RR program is suppose to work. Therefore, they just tell you anything to get you out of the line. You should have returned your items and went to another Walgreens. I have to do that sometimes. I've gone to a Wags did a transaction and didn't receive a RR. Returned the products. Went to a different Wags did the exact same transaction and received my RR. Sometimes the RR machine isn't working and they really don't know. They should really just try learning the program.
  • Amy
They also have no clue what the "W" Card is...they look at it likes it's from a different country! Do people not use them? I used mine last week when i got the W Brand Blood Glucose Machine and got a 10% credit of $2 on the card, so i wanted to use my credit last night...he had no idea what he was doing and had to scan it a few times after pushing all different kind of buttons. No tags by the contact solution or stayfree that they were on sale or RR, i asked and he said "no" they rang up on sale, so i took my chances on getting a RR and it worked. I hate wags. I love cvs! I'm heading to wags again at lunch for round two..argh.
  • pharmSCgirl
This is not true at all! Last week I bought the Acai Berry that was on sale for $4 and used a $3 coupon and paid $1+tax and recieved the $4 RR. I don't know where they got that information unless things have changed in the past week. I'm sorry that happened to you. I would e-mail corporate or call costumer service.
  • Momof2 (Greer)
I had a great morning @ Walgreens. I was able to pick up a brush, some plaque picks, 4 packs of pads, hair color for men, contact solution & with all of my rr's I was able to get my son the CD player boombox that was on sale. My final price for that was $2 & tax & I still have $9 in rr's left. Another gift that can be marked off the list. 2 more to go.

Went to Target & was able to get my dd some shirts for $1.50 ea (on clearance) & also got a $10 gc for buying the keebler cookies. Great trip there also. Oh yeah & 2 more stocking caps for my ds because he keeps losing them. I keep telling him that it is going to be a cold winter for his head if he loses 1 more cap. (Just kidding but he doesn't have to know that)

Walmart-They have kids shirts on sale for $3 ea. Got some for my ds & dd.

Sally's beauty supply store..I was able to get a $1 off my favorite hair product. Not a lot but I was happy.

Went to Cato's today & was able to splurge alittle on a new top. This has been a great day!!!

One of the Greenville, SC couponers teaches classes and encourages couponers to go through the store and take all the peelies/blinkies/wine tags when they aren't purchasing the products. :( That's so wrong!
  • Rebekah
I think that is wrong too. Yes it is nice to have a coupon but if you are not going to use it what is the point of stealing someone else's savings? I mostly will only take a "blinkie" or 2 for like Mt. Olive pickles or toliet paper b/c I know I will probably use them. But yeah I agree that is not right.
  • nancy
I do take blinkies but not the others Unless I buy them.
  • Vanessa
And according to Jenny, you are only supposed to take two of the blinkie coupons-that is why is takes a long pause after two. It is assuming you will walk away if it does not spit out immediately.
  • Adrienne
I totally agree, I was in publix the other day and there were peelies on the Dove chocolates, I bought two bags and used the peelies, went back the next day and had to dig through them to find one with the peelie, all the peelie's were gone on about 20 bags and there was one left. That is so rude!
  • Kim
My store in NC gave me $5 RR after the $25. I still ended up paying more than 50% less with all my coupons and $9RR!
  • Marsha
My order was less than $25 after coupons and the $5 coupon printed. I did ask her to total it before she took off the coupons (I just told her I wanted to make sure I was above $25 with my items). Turned out great...they had everything in stock. However nothing was marked for the $4 day sale and for the scuni accessories she had to just scan some to find out which ones were ringing up on sale. But she was very nice about it and these sparkly butterfly clips qualified that my girls will love in their stockings.
  • Laurie
Just a note - my Walgreens does not normally carry the Men's Neutrogena, so they had a limited stock.
  • Kendra
My store (Tarpon Springs, Fl) is not participating in the 4 day sale except for the 5RR on $25. I did however find out that they used the PRE-COUPON total. I spent $15 after coupons (would have been much less if they were participating) and still got my 5RR. I also got 2RR plus I have a $2Manufactrers coupons for Huggies and a $1 for Huggies (store coupon). At 12.49 for a small package I can use all coupons (with fillers) and spend close to $3 for diapers. I love great deals on diapers because we are forever buying them! Anyway, make sure you check with your local store to see if they are participating in this sale.
  • Mina
The short ad areas that didn't get the 4 day sale won't get the sale prices, but the RR's for the items, as well as the HDRR have been printing.
  • Courtney
the huggies on sale here next week are not on the 4 day sale. they are in the regular weekly flyer. these regional variations are a pain!
