Just got back from Publix in Trussville (Birmingham, AL area) and the penny item was Publix Bleach. Not as good as the coffee...but it was just a penny.
  • Bethany
Just went to Publix in the Crestline area in Birmingham, AL and the penny item was Stove Top stuffing. Seriously???? No coffee. Not worth buying a paper for that.
  • Brian
Me too Bethany. I went out of my way to get the free coffee tonight, and it was Stove Top. What a rip!
  • Patsy
I have yet to find the mystery coupon in the Atlanta paper. Our small-town paper in Conyers publishes it in the Wed paper and that is when our local Publix honors it. Out of luck with the Thurs AJC. Very disappointed since I always bought the penny item and looked forward to it. What made Publix change?
  • Michelle
In the Thursday AJC, it's been on the inside page of the Living section (where Dear Abby is) since they changed it. I clip it before my husband takes it to work!
  • Patsy
Thanks, Michelle. That is a day late for those of us in the Conyers area. It was good while it lasted.
  • Emily
Spartanburg, SC (Eastside, on Main Street) doesn't require the penny item coupon...so no need to buy a paper. They are also letting you substitute for decaf...which is great for pregnant or nursing moms! I LOVE Publix!! I did a triples run @ Ingles last night and it was such a pleasant change to go to Publix today. You would think the two stores exist in different worlds based on the difference between the two. Let me say again, I LOVE Publix!!

    Thanks Jenny!
  • Lee
The coupon is on page A4 in the Greenville news.
  • Diane
I'm new to all of this...where do I find the "Yellow Advantage Buy Flyer" and the "Green Advantage Buy"
  • Michelleu
My publix has them behind the customer service counter, you just have to ask. When the new one came out the girl working the counter smiled as I walked up and handed them to me before I even asked!
  • Stacey B
The store I shop has it in a revolving carousel-type display right when you walk in the store. There are brochures and flyers for the Publix Clubs along with the Advantage Buy flyers.
  • Laura
Does anyone know where the coupon for the penny item is in the Birmingham, AL newspaper?
  • Carole
Yep, since they started requiring the coupon, it's been in the lower right hand corner of page 2A.
  • erin
i believe it was on 2A.
  • Rebekah
A5 of THE STATE newspaper:) mid-way down on the right..hope yall find it:)...
  • Michelle
Thank you for clarifiying it is on pg A5 in THE STATE (SC). That was helpful. I thought it was supposed to be in a flyer of sorts.
  • Jennie
I get the Houston Home Journal (in WR, Georgia) and the Penny Coupon is on pg 2A. Unfortunately it's a misprint and says Redeem January 06, 2010. I hope they don't give me grief about it!
  • Brook
Yea!! I'm almost out of coffee!!

When does Publix in Athens, GA do the 1 cent item. Is it Wednesdays or Thursdays. Someone told me it was Mondays. Help! Thanks!
  • Amy
The one on the Atlanta Highway does it on Wednesdays only, I guess because the coupon comes out in the ABH that day. However, the one in Watkinsville does it on Wednesdays and Thursdays, to accommodate the ABH and the Oconee Enterprise. Complicated, huh?! BTW, the watkinsville store is the greatest - not only are they accommodating for couponers, but they are the nicest, most helpful people ever.
  • lindsey
    What's the ABH?
  • Amy
    Athens Banner Herald
  • Ashley
The Publix on the eastside of town does it for sure on Wednesday, and they don't require the coupon. They usually have the penny item on display at the entrance of the store.
  • where is the penny item coupon,i didn't see it
  • I can't seem to find the penny item coupon in my paper (The Tennessean) since it's changed to Wednesdays. Am I going blind? What's the deal?
  • Terry
It's hidden! lol It was on page 9A at the top.
  • Allison
It is in the top left corner of 9A. It took some hunting!
  • Ginnyw
I agree if you don't want it then don't participate. If you do and don't use it donate it. That's what we have been doing the last couple of months and working at our local food bank during the food give aways. The food banks really appreciate anything you can donate. Even if it does cost the cost of a 50C paper and a penny still less than the original 3.00 and some change! Enjoy your day!
  • Stacey B
I am brand new to couponing but I am loving that I can find so many items so very cheaply. We are stocked full up on soup in my house but that won't stop me from buying it when I can find it dirt cheap so that I can donate it. Plus, all of the freebies you can come across. It is wonderful!
  • lindsey
I get the AJC and haven't seen the penny item coupon in a long time. Does anyone know if the stores here are still doing it?
  • Katherine
Its in the Living section in the Thursday paper
  • lindsey
    thank you!
  • Alena
its in a living section, its been there since Publix have changed the rules
  • susan
I am so tired of people posting their complaints about the penny item costing more than a penny.
  • Allie
well it DOES!!!! my Thursday paper costs a $1, so last week I only saved .40 cents on an "penny" item!!!!! that is pretty Frustrating when other stores don't even require a coupon!!!
  • Elizabeth
The publix in middle TN sell the paper for .50.
  • Melissa
Exactly. Usually, I'd never buy the penny item at full price--the ONLY reason to get it is that it costs a penny, and it gives me a chance to try it. But for $1.01? No thanks. But considering the stores aren't always requiring a coupon, then it's still good.
  • Katie
Does anyone know whether the Publix at Kennerly Crossing requires the coupon now? I was so bummed when they changed it from Sunday, but if they don't require the coupon it might make it worth a mid-week trip.
  • Hailey
Got back from Kennerly Crossing a little while ago and they do not require the coupon - yeah!!!
  • Katie
Well I just called Customer Service at Kennery Crossing, and a nice young guy named Preston told me, "No ma'am, our cashiers normally have extra ones or just ring up the discount." :)
  • Andrea
Wow, the Publix in Huntsville, AL always requires the coupon!
  • CouponFeller
Alabaster, Alabama and Pelham, Alabama both require the coupon now.
  • Katie
Sorry, didn't put location. Kennerly Crossing is in Irmo, SC. Thanks!
  • Jenny
I don't know about Kennerly but I know of the other "Irmo" Publix not really being big sticklers for that rule.
  • Melissa
I definitely won't be bothering. Especially because I have to buy a newspaper with no other coupons in it. Definitely makes it more than a penny if you don't normally get the paper.
  • Kristen
In Anderson, SC we get the hometowner, free newspaper w/ all the Wednesday adds in it. So I never have to buy a Wed paper for the penny item coupon. They don't deliver it to appts though.
  • I am in Anderson too and the penny item coupon is not in the Publix ad as of the beginning of this month. It is now inside the Anderson-Independent newspaper within the first few pages.
  • Terry
I was so excited when I asked the cashier what it was. She acted like it was no big deal. I said, "It's caffeine. And it's a penny!" They're normally like $3.30!
  • April
what size coffee do you get for a penny? Not that it really matters because it is only a penny, but I want to make sure I pick up the right size. Thanks!
  • Emily
They should have them at the register!
  • Terry
It's 11.5 oz Special Roast (at the Lebanon, TN store).
