I’m getting hooked on $1 movie rentals.  Really I’m getting hooked on FREE movie rentals!  There are kiosks all over town for most you so if you haven’t tried these, then today is the day.

The big thing to remember, it’s only free if you return it on time!!  These are one night rentals so take it back on your way to work tomorrow.

        You can use these codes one time PER DEBIT/CREDIT Card. So if you and a spouse each have a debit card that would be 2 free movies. You will have to do each one separately.

          So, if i had 2 debit/credit cards I could get 2? Or would it look at my name and address also?

            It is solely based on the credit/debit card. So yes, if you have 2, then you can get 2, but like they said above, it has to be done seperately.

      I’ve tried one of these codes before for Red Box and it says that the code has already been used.

        Redbox no longer lets you share the codes. Only one use per code now. They must have realized people were sharing their codes for others to use. It used to be good for every Monday, but now it’s only the first Monday of the month. Soon they probably won’t even have free rentals. Still, $1/night is really reasonable!

      I haven’t used these kiosks before, but I know there is a blockbuster kiosk at the Publix I go to. How do you use the codes?

        You just choose a movie and then click on checkout and it should give you your total. There should be a place on there to enter a promotional code. I haven’t actually used the blockbuster kiosk but it always works for me with the redbox’s.

      How do you use these codes? Where do you input them?

        On the screen when you checkout it asks if you have any codes. Enter it there and once you proceed to checkout it takes the $1 chrage off. You do have to return the movies to both Blockbuster Express or Redbox by 9pm so be aware of that.

      I used the codes for first time use and B1G1 at the Blockbuster Kiosk at our Publix and we were thrilled to have movie night with the family for $1!! I can’t wait to use the rest for these cold weekend days and evenings at home with the family!! What a treat!

      If you want to know more about the movies you are renting – violent content, sexual content, crude/profane language, etc. I use the website http://www.pluggedin.com to check them out. I want to know what we are watching before it comes on.

        We use http://www.pluggedin.com too. Also, for tv shows, and most vhs and DVDs, we have a TV Guardian hooked up to the entertainment system. It filters out the foul language.

      If anyone needs a rental idea, get Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. We got it this weekend from Redbox and it is really fun for the whole family!

      The REAL saver is to come see me… your local librarian…. and borrow the movie for Free! for a whole week! Enjoy! Your tax dollars provide this free service to you!

        I take advantage of this all the time! I guess the perk of the Red Box is that you can grab it when you’re out grocery shopping at 7pm.

        Well, our tax dollars here in NC must be pretty lousy because we don’t have that option here :( I loved it when we lived in a town that did offer DVDs at our library! For now, free redbox it is!

      just an fyi that the blockbuster might put a pending charge of either $1.00 or $1.01 on your card even with the code. it will fall off and not post to your account. credit users might not ever see it and debit users might not either if your online banking doesn’t show memo post items.

      I would encourage you to be careful. I know with Redbox, I had trouble with a charge posting almost 2 weeks after I had rented a movie. They charged the first night when I returned the movie as usual, but didnt charge me for the second night until MUCH later, causing an overdraft. They informed me that they have 45 days to debit your account once you rent with them. Not a big deal if you are aware, but I thought they were done when they charged me the first time.

        I got an email that said all redbox codes are valid only on Mondays starting in January. And that the other codes like DVDONME and others that could be used any day were no longer valid. I’m not sure how accurate that is though. Anyone try these this month?

          I had heard that they were making changes to how their couponing would be done. As of today, I haven’t tried any of the other coupons. Although if I go into town tonight for more ink to print grocery coupons … then I will certainly stop in and try a few.

        Keep in mind that if you were sent the codes from redbox to your e-mail/ phone that the codes are one time use only, so once someone uses it, then it cannot be used again even with another credit card. Also, I think the REDBOX code is only for new customers; if you have used redbox before I don’t believe it works.

      My husband and I rented many movies over our holiday break and many of the codes worked. I type in “promo codes for redbox” in my google search and pick one of the first sites and write down a number of them to try.

      My friendly Publix cashier gave me a coupon for one free rental utilizing the Blockbuster kiosk.

        Same here. I guess Publix is definitely trying to promote this new venture with Blockbuster. They had tearpads at the register and right on front of the kiosk itself.

      My husband thinks that that the Blockbuster codes are never free b/c they end up charging you. Has anyone else had this experience? Redbox is always good and we’ve never had that problem.

      Wow! My Publix had the free code taped to the front of the kiosk so I got a free blockbuster movie today!
      I’ll be going back tomorrow to return it and get the penny item.
