I think it is subjective to the cashiers. I bought 1.99 & .99 Valentines day cards and the cashier called the mgr. over for the 'free' one. He said to take it....should have gotten 1 more, but 2 cards for 1.00 & change was ok......
  • There may be different coupon, but the ones here say 99 cent off purchase. Not buy1 and get another at 99 cents off.

Can't believe how many people I have seen buying cards these past 2 weeks AND not even paying attention to the stacks of hanging coupons by their heads!!! i have to keep pointing them out to people!! Yikes!
  • Heather
I was able to score some stickers too. They were on a Valentines Display near the front of the store with the .99 Q as well.
  • Well he has an excuse if the store is out of the cards LOL! Today the only .99 ones that were left were for granddaughter or son lol. Wonder if he'd get one of those for you lol?!

go to hallmark crown store. At the register are purple pocket size calendars with coupons in the front. Coupon good for: buy 3 99cent cards for $1.00.
Today, I went to my local hallmark crown store. Purchased 24 all occasion 99 cent cards. I had 8 coupons. I got 3 cards for $1.00 or 24 cards for $8 plus tax. Earned points for providing club member number (membership free). Also, receipt included survey opportunity to earn $2 off next purchase.

Read the fine print! At the bottom of the coupon it lists about 15 different lines of Hallmark's cards and specifically says 99 cent cards included. Had to read it to my cashier yesterday, and he was very polite about it. But I read it as buy one and get .99 off another. Still a good price, I have been getting a few every time I go to Publix.
  • BlessedinSC
So is it BIGI or free? I don't know how anyone has even found any .99 cards. I looked a bunch and couldn't find any under 1.99. Any advice?
  • cvelasco
Do you need a publix card to get discounts? I will bein orlando next week and plan on shopping there. We do not have them here in raleigh. Thanks
  • Susan
NO--you don't have to have a card at Publix to get discounts. And, though I'm transplanted in Atlanta, I'm from NC, too! Grew up in Rocky Mount, husband is from Zebulon. Go ECU pirates!
  • pickensmom4
Jenny, the coupon is for Expressions Hallmark cards. The 99 cents cards are not Expressions cards. The Expressions cards start at 1.99, this would not make the cards free.
  • Heather
Yes, there are some .99 cards in some locations that are Expressions. It will say Expressions on the back of the card and they are .99. Not all stores have these. I shop 3 stores in my area and only one of them has them.
  • sandraj
Yep that right. The same thing happened to me. I had already pick up at least 2 dozen cards over the weeks(free) ...but the other day they said the 99c cards were not the Expressions cards. No more freebies.
  • If you read the fine print on the coupon, it includes 99¢ cards.
  • pickensmom4
Only if an Expressions card is 99 cents. The 99 cents cards are not Expression cards.
  • Elizabeth
It is the "Expressions" cards only. If those happen to be $.99, then yay, but the coupon is NOT for all $.99 cards. Big differnce.
  • The coupon says for Hallmark Expressions Cards and the $.99 cards are not Expressions they only say Hallmark on the back, There are some $1.99 Expressions Cards.

I really really wish I had a publix closer to where I live. The closest one is 45 minutes away!!!!
  • sbdugger
I drive 45 min. to Publix. It's worth it! The manager of the store I go to knows I travel that far and bends over backwards to make sure I will keep shopping there. They are great!

I found this interesting about Publix. Prior to couponing I used to spend 100% of my grocery/personal care items at Wal-Mart. I always thought it was the cheapest and wisest thing to do. Now that I coupon, I cannot imagine doing my shopping at Wal-Mart. I have been teaching couponing classes lately and will always get the nay sayers that express their love for WalMart and try to prove to me that couponing is not effective.

I spoke with a Puplix manager the other day and shared with him that and he told me that Publix regular priced items are only 4% higher then Walmart and that their BOGO items are 40% CHEAPER then walmart. He also told me that Winn Dixie is 16% higher then Publix. Good to know :)
  • ann
My exact thoughts! I was just like you a few years back (walmart shopper), now I liik back and woder why...I am an ardent Publix shopper. Thos BOGO sales are awesome!
  • Laura Higginbotham
One of our Publix managers told me that if you took advantage of all the specials of items you would use over a certain period of time (I now can't remember...three weeks or months...LOL) that you would save over purchasing part at Publix and part at Walmart. He said he had to prove it to his wife and she's now a believer.
  • Bonnie
I agree regarding Walmart. I never thought I'd see the day when shopping at Walmart was too expensive!
  • deborah1129
I emailed Hallmark; it is off all Hallmark Expressions that is what Publix carries, there is a big sign about the cards.... .99 gets free cards, bows and stickers....
  • Marisa
Hi deborah1129, so if u got 2 cards and 2 bows would u then use 4 of the 99c off coupons?
  • gery220
I totally agree with you. U can say that I am new in couponing and I was one of the Walmart freaks! But now I cant stand to be in there. Its way to crowded and the people are nasty (@ least here in Miami, FL). I mainly do Publix, some Winn Dixie(good deals only) and target. I love CVS and Walgreens. I just went to WD and saved $87 between qs and deals. My next Trip is Publix lets see how I do there. I'm just getting the hang of combining the qs and the deals...
  • tallymomma
Yeah, our Publix also refused to accept the $.99 coupon for the $.99 cards. They said they were not expression cards. I take that back, one did accept them and the other didn't so I guess it really is up to the store.
  • Angel
I think the coupon is worded to where it makes it a little confusing. It says something like you get 99 cents off when you make a min. of a 99 cents purchase. It makes it sound like you have to spend 99 cents to get a 99 cents card free; however, at the end of the coupon it says you can use it on 99 cents cards. I got 4 cards, used 4 coupons and only paid 28 cents for the tax. This was at the Publix in Lex. today.
  • dawn
I got the same thing at my Publix. Had to be Expressions cards, not just .99. Oh well.
  • Jen
On the ones that I used, I looked at the fine print and it specifically says it is good for 99c cards!
  • Jeannine
Bi-Lo also has some greeting card coupons on tearpads for the American Greetings brand that they carry... graduated coupons for like $1 off 2 cards, $2 off 3 cards or $3 off 4 cards. I bought four .99-cent cards and used the larger coupon to get them for about .25-cents each! Still a bargain :)
  • S_Carolina_Girl
There is also an American Greetings printable you can use for $1.00/3 cards. It makes them FREE if you purchase 3 or 6.

  • S_Carolina_Girl
    You can also go to...

    http://corporate.americangreetings.com/couponbu...

and get an additional $1.00 off the American Greetings cards. It makes them FREE! =) It's best if you purchase 3 or 6. Otherwise, you're paying a little for them.
  • Anita Jackson
They told me that It was buy one card get another card for .99 off. I even asked for the manager and while he was nice, he said it was not the way we are talking about it here. I was just wondering if anyone else had been told this. Should I try again?
  • Denise
I would try, but not with that manager - the coupon says nothing about BOGO but sounds like he's made up his mind ...
  • Jennifer
I looked at some of the 99cent cards and they did not say "expressions" on the back--just Hallmark. Are these the cards people are getting for free? I did not want to push it...but I need a card for my mother's birthday :)
  • Jen
On the ones that I used, I looked at the fine print and it specifically says it is good for 99c cards! Should be fine.
  • dillard_christina
As long as that $.99 card says "Expressions" on the back.
  • fl_girl
While it does make free cards, please be considerate. We have had people buying hundreds at once. That's just a little much, and not what the coupon was intended to be for. Leave coupons for everyone.Don't be greedy,
