I could actually get the H1N1 shot for free through my college... or through my county (since I am a county employee)... but I choose not to get it because of all the uncertain side effects and mostly because it is not a "researched" drug... all of the people who are lining up to get the shot now, are basically the government's lab rats.... I am not bashing the H1N1 vaccine (I know it has saved lives!!), I am just merrily pointing out the fact that this vaccine is still considered a NEW drug and needs to be researched carefully by any individual who is wanting to get it.

Rite Aid in West Columbia, SC has the H1N1 nasal mist vaccine for healthy individuals aged 3-49. They give them Monday - Friday 8am-1pm at no charge!!

Publix also has FREE oral antibiotics. Here's the list. http://www.publix.com/freeantibiotics/ I should know, as I have a sinus infection and just went there and got my prescription for FREE! Here's to good health!

Publix Pharmacies to Offer H1N1 Vaccines for $10 with Additional Savings Offer


LAKELAND, Fla., Jan. 13, 2010 – To coincide with National Influenza Vaccination Week, January 10-16, 2010, Publix Pharmacies are offering customers the H1N1 vaccine for $10. The special pricing for the vaccine will remain in effect until the vaccine supply is depleted. Customers do not need an appointment for the vaccination, but are encouraged to call their local Publix Pharmacy to ensure an immunizing pharmacist is on duty and vaccine supply is still available.

As an added bonus, every customer who receives an H1N1 vaccine from a Publix Pharmacy will also receive a coupon good for a $10 Publix gift card with a new or transferred prescription.

“While influenza is unpredictable, we know that if more people are vaccinated, the disease is less likely to spread in the upcoming months,” said Maria Brous, Publix media and community relations director. “Our Publix Pharmacists are committed to the total health and wellness of our customers and their families.”

Notice the part about "with a new or transferred Rx." Only good if you have aRx you are willing to transfer. FYI.

When you pay for your vaccine you get a coupon (with no expiration date) for a $10 gift card with your next new OR transferred rx so you don't have to get the prescription filled on the spot, but whenever you do need a new rx you get a gift card. Most people are more than willing to transfer anyway when they experience a Publix pharmacy and realize that the prices are very competitive and the customer service better than any other pharmacy chain.

I have no problem with transferring prescriptions. Just sharing info.

Although - my CVS will take anybody's coupon, which means I can get a $25 gift card w/ a Rite Aid Q. $10 at Publix is not as good as $25 at CVS. Now if Publix would take competitor Q's like in the good old days (and not just from "traditional" supermarkets), then we'd have something good going!

I am in the Charleston, SC area and our Publix stores accept competitor coupons from any store that sells grocery items. I have been using the $5/$25 coupons for weeks now. I'm sure it varies and is the manager's discretion... Just thought I'd let you know that some do honor them! I hope this helps! Tootles!

Kassie, which Publix do you usually shop at? I go to the Folly Rd. store but haven't tried using competitor coupons in awhile.

hey guys just a little FYI you can go to your local health dept and get the H1N1 shot for free. Its actually a scam that companies are making you pay for it in the first place.

Our pediatrician charged $19 per child for the H1N1 vaccination. Our insurance did not cover it, but my personal preference was to not go to the health department. I'm glad the health department is not charging an administration fee. This gives everyone who chooses to get the shot an opportunity to do so.

Wow - it is definetly not a scam...Publix received the vaccination and syringes free of charge but is allowed by law (just like every other chain) to bill you for the administration...check with your doctors office - most also charge a fee for administration of injectable drugs. Honestly $10 is not even enough to cover the vaccinating pharmacist's salary for the 15 minutes they'll spend processing the paperwork, preparing, and giving the injection so the company is still losing money.

I'd personally rather pay $10 than have to deal with the health department. Ick. I know they provide a valuable service but I am grateful that I do not have to deal with them unless I choose to.
