The Mystery Penny Item at Publix for Wednesday 2/3 or Thursday 2/4, is:

Publix Sugar

You can get the Publix Penny item with any purchase that is $10 or more before coupons. There is a Mystery Penny Item coupon in the Wednesday or Thursday Paper every week . Some stores do not require this coupon, but many have changed and do require it now, check with your store to find their policy.

The Penny Item is now for one day only, and will be the day that the add starts in your area. This is Wednesday for all of SC and AL, and parts of GA, or Thursday for Northern GA.

Get all of this weeks Publix Deals and Coupon Matches! There is also Yellow Advantage Buy Flyer that ends on Friday with lots of deals and a new Green Advantage Buy list of coupon I will have up in a little bit!.

**Note: FL and Coastal GA stores DO NOT participate in the Penny Item**

A thought… You will not get much closer to free, so if you don’t need, like or want this item, then give it away. There are many folks that would probably love it!

Publix in Anderson S.C. pulled the sugar off the shelf except for 3 bags. When I checked out with one bag they said it was not the penny special and said can of pineapple was now the special because they had run out earlier. It made no sense to me. They would not let me have the sugar for my penny special.They also now require the coupon.

My store had the publix coffee as the free item yesterday 2/4/10, and they have started requiring the coupon. Forest Drive Columbia Publix store.

Does anyone know where the penny coupon is located in the Atlanta J & C? Why are they trying to hide it?

It's in the living section...not in the Publix flyer where you would think it would be! I just asked my Publix (Norcross, GA @ Peachtree Pkwy & Holcomb Bridge) about whether they required the coupon and they said they were one of a few up until last week that didn't require the coupon...but store policy changed and now they must have it. The paper was 94 cents today, so it was still better than paying a couple of dollars for sugar!

I haven't been to Publix in months because for three weeks in a row the cashiers kept changing policy. I l talked to a manager and she apologized, said there was not a list of rules to display and basically acted as though she couldn't stop the cashiers from having their own opinions. So, I was discouraged and quit. I went back last night and the cashier said that I could only buy 3 buy on get one free items. (6 all together) He said he would let me pass last night with the extra soup and crackers I had but that I could not do it in the future and that it was a new rule that came out last week. This is at the Publix in Spring Hill. Anyone else had that rule told to them? It's fine with me, but I just wish they would post these rules somewhere so that I know what to put in my cart and what not to.

They usually have the penny coupon in our Daily Newspaper on Sunday. We could use it either on Sunday or Monday. We are now on a scavenger hunt trying to find it in Wednesdays paper.It must be used on Wednesday too! I believe they really want to make it inconvient to LaGrange shoppers.

I haven't seen the penny deal in our paper or advertised on the door at our publix anymore. I shop at the publix in Marietta, Ga 30066 the one at Sandy Plains/ Shallowford. Does anyone know if they are still doing it there?

In the counties in and immediately surrounding Atlanta (including yours), the weekly sales start on Thursdays. So the penny coupon appears in the Thursday AJC. Last two weeks it's been on page D-2 (Living section). The "ad" is just the coupon, about 5x3".

In counties immediately outside metro Atlanta counties, the sales start on Wednesdays. You'll need to look in local Wednesday papers (not AJC) to find the coupon.

Taylors store had the roast coffee like they did a few months ago. They said they ran out of sugar. I really wanted sugar! I don't drink coffee so I'll give it away.

I hate the new Wednesday program. I tried it today, which meant I had to get to Publix after work. No nearby stores, including Publix, had a paper. And, Publix was swamped because Wednesdays are also senior citizen discount day. I left empty handed. Wouldn't you think they would at least have enough papers for sale, if they are going to require the coupon?

Can you still ask them to substitute the original item--i.e., if your store is not doing sugar, can you still ask for the sugar instead?

The post says that the ads start on Wednesday in SC, but I live in SC and the ads start on Thursdays here. Our ad is in the Wed. paper, so would the penny item be on the same day as that?

I see some people say that they are going to do multiple transactions. If this is the reason they moved the coupon day and made it more difficult to get the penny item, they could do away with it all together. Shouldn't we get just one per family since that is probably the spirit of the promotion?

My husband and I frequently do 2 transactions for the penny item if he is shopping with me on a penny item day (we each pay for about half the groceries). But we always have at least $50 in groceries, well over the $10 amount required. I have never seen one person do multiple transactions, but if the cashiers let them, more power to them! It is not our place to tell others how many transactions they should do or to try to determine what is the spirit of the promotion. If the store allows it, great. If it is a problem for that store, they wouldn't allow it.

In Nashville, the paper cost .75, so sugar for .76 is still a good deal.

If you get the paper at Publix it is only 50 cents. Also, I was able to get the item w/o q at the Mount Juliet (Providence) Publix

I asked the manager at Publix (Harding by St. Thomas) if I needed the Q and she said let the casher know that she said I could have it w/o the Q!!! Yah!! Never hurts to ask!!

As far as I know they do. I believe I asked the first Wednesday after they had switched and they said yes. Their paper is only .50 (.35 at the Walgreens in Ooltewah).

I am new to this and about to make a Publix trip. Please help me with the following question.

I have a coupon for buy (2) Kraft Deluxe dinners and save $1.00.

Do I have to buy (2) of these to receive the dollar off? If so, would this mean that I also get the BOGO and end up with four boxes?

OR....Do I just take my two boxes up there, receive the 1.00 of because it is two AND get the second one free?

I am so excited about this....and trying to understand what is the most optimal. Thanks for any answers you can provide me.

You take 2 of the dinners up to the register and use the $1 off Q. HTH! SO basically you are getting the BOGO free price -$1

BOGO at Publix means it's 1/2 price. So for example, if the macaroni is $2 bogo it would be $1 each and you would use your $1/2 coupon and get two macaroni's for $1.

Correction to my comment above! I found the coupon! They are really sneaky now. I called my store to ask. The coupon does not actually come in the Publix ad. It shows up in the actual newspaper somewhere, and the section changes every week! This week in Greenville, it is on the back of Section C!!

it ucks that they switched the mystery coupon to wednesday's newspapaer, coz our subdivision does not get wednesday newspapaer, i get the wednesday publix ad leaflet in the tuesday paper.
I cant justify buyinga newspaper for a penny item, although i really need sugar this time.

The penny coupon is generally somewhere in the paper, not the Publix ad. Ours is in 2A normally. Not sure where yours will be, but its not in the ad. Hope this helps.

Oh my...we go through SO much sugar...this is perfect!!! Will go great with the free coffee from last week.

Spartanburg, SC (Main Street in Hillcrest) does NOT require a penny item coupon and depending on the cashier will often let you check out multiple times (as long as each order totals $10 before coupons) to get multiple penny items!
