I am in love with Office Max freebies!  We are getting all of our paper, envelopes, folders, markers etc. from them and paying nothing once we get the max perks back!!

This week you can get all of the following FREE after maxperks:

See details on all the FREE Deals

Remember if you order $50 or more you get FREE shipping.

Have you used ebates yet? If you haven’t signed up you’ll get $5 for signing up and you’ll get 3% cashback on your entire purchase.

Update:
Many of you asked about Maxperks.  You can sign up if you are business or a teacher.  This really qualifies most of you out there.  At home mom’s teaching their two year olds still qualify as would anyone that does any kind of at home venture.  Sign up for Maxperks here.

The other confusing point was getting rewards after you purchase certain amounts.  Their are two types of rewards (a lot like CVS) you can earn instant rewards from purchasing items above or earn extra rewards for every amount that you spend in the store.  For business members you earn an extra $25 reward for every $500 and teachers earn $10 rewards for every $75 they spend.

You will get your reward check for the deals above by the 20th of April.

I bought everything and have gotten credit for all but the 1.5 inch binders... It's saying it isn't a qualifying item for the maxperks bonus. Did anyone else have this problem? I just emailed MaxPerks.
  • I just checked my account and noticed the same thing, not getting credit for the binders. Did you receive a response?

I'm confused about the max perks deals. Do I have to buy all that stuff and then get credit to use in the store for the same amount?
  • savysaver
Confused about MaxPerks. Can I get them on the assorted color 12 count Sharpies or just the black ones? When I check out it mentions nothing about MaxPerks rewards for the items in my cart.
  • I did a similar deal back in January for 2 cases of paper and the Sharpies and envelopes and ordered last night using the gift card earned for these to go in for several of these. Ended up owing $.07 after the rewards gift card. (the gift card will pay for sales tax, but the free reward will not include the sales tax (although it does round up (i.e. 34.99 gives a $35,00 reward).

In answer to several questions listed below:
    1. The rewards are delivered via email as a gift card you can print and use in store or use as payment online.
    2. The "monthly" awards for business is new and if they keep running these deals it should not be hard to get at least once a quarter and roll it. The rewards program is also how you get your funds for recycling ink cartridges.
    3. You can buy up to the limit number of an item, and will get rewards on it.
    4. Ebates pays - I have been a member for 8 years or so and have gotten almost $100 in rebates for online shopping since joining.(don't shop online that much as using coupons in the stores is often a much better deal for me since I live withiin 5 miles of OfficeMax/OfficeDepot/Staples).
    5. Even if you use coupons, the rebates will be for the full price paid (not sure who runs their promos, but I got a $10/50 paper purchase in the mail the same day as the last "free paper" sale (which was in store too). Gave that case of paper to my church since they paid me to take if off their hands).
    6. I don't think that a "business" requires a government license or any formal proof to qualify for the rewards card. I know I had one and the card wore out and the store just handed me a new one (different number) at the checkout and then I went and registered it online. I and my wife both have self employed businesses, but any type, even online entrepreneur should qualify.

Thank you - this helps! With regards to what Lindsay said above, did you get the perks for the recent transaction where you used your previous perks to pay for the items? Also, how soon do you get the email with the gift card?
  • trish_m
Phil I have the same question that Valerie asked. Did you get the perks for the recent transaction where you used your previous perks to pay for the items? Thank you!
  • Lindsay
I signed up for Max Perks in January and got the paper, sharpies and envelopes. The envelopes were on back order, but I was still able to order them and get my perks for them once they restocked. I got my perks, but haven't spent them. (they expire in May) I called the customer service line and asked about rolling them; she told me if I used max perks to purchase an item it would not generate more max perks. So no rolling. Haven't actually tried it to see for myself, didn't seem worth the risk!
  • valeriejcm
    Thanks - this helps!
  • Elizabeth
Thanks for the clarification, Jenny. That helps--especially since I am a mom that stays at home, teaching her two year old! (how did you know?? :)
  • Bonnie
I signed up for the maxperks business rewards about a year ago and have always been able to roll my rewards before they expire. If they're about to expire and you don't need anything at OfficeMax, you can use the rewards to buy one of their many gift cards to other stores such as Bed Beth and Beyond, Old Navy, restaurants, Itunes, etc.
  • ItsACouponThing
Even if you can't use it for gift cards, the fact is, free is free! If you don't need anything, you can always use it to stock up on things you'll eventually need, like paper, pens, paper clips, etc. If you truly have no room for these, do your local pet shelter a favor, and let them use your points to purchase cleaning supplies through OfficeMax!
  • lemongirl05
Do you have to buy the gift cards in the store or can they be purchased online?
  • lemongirl05
Just called 1-866-MAXPERKS and they said the rewards can't be used on gift cards. Oh well. :-(
  • Kristina
    Awesome, thank you!
  • do you actually get cash back or is it just money for future office max purchases?
  • It's money to use for future purchases. I would recommend getting the paper and anything else you need and then using the rewards to buy ink!
  • Amanda
Thank! I just signed up and got paper, envelopes, sharpies, and boxes. Yeah! Now, I just need to look into ebates....
  • dealapprentice
There is Bing,Mr Rebates and other cash back sites available as well. Bing from Microsoft gives the best cashback. I did my Christmas shopping and got almost $175 back in 60 days. The cash back percentage changes time to time or day to day. You also need to search with certain key words at times to get better cashback at the same store for bing. e.g Sometimes Sears may have a cashback of 8% but they may have about 15% cashback on electronics on HDTV's like LG or Samsung...
  • dealapprentice
Also most of the credit card companies give cashback if you go through their website e.g. Citibank and Bank Of America and many others offer cashback as well. You need to look up which cashback site gives you the highest cashback for your purchase.
  • Find a friend who is a member and they will get a bonus for referring you. However, to earn eBates you must be a member first and go to the store's online page from the link on the eBates site.
  • Amanda
That's exactly what I am wondering.
  • valeriejcm
You know what? This is an awesome deal on paper, even without the reward... and they're going to ship it to me? SOLD!
  • Denise
ok, so you have to sign up for the rewards for this to work?
  • michelle
Does anyone know for how long this deal lasts? Is it all week?
  • It is all week or while supplies last.
  • alysia
Is this still the same promo that they did in January? I did it then but not sure if my limits are "reset."
  • valeriejcm
My only question is when do you get your "instant" rewards? Should I only order 1 each of the multiples (ie - sharpies) and then "roll over" my rewards to get the max or do you not get the rewards until after the sale is over?
  • DC
I read that Business Reward members get their rewards monthly and Teachers get them quarterly. April would be the end of the quarter so teachers would still get their rewards in April, but if you sign up as a Teacher, you may want to remember that for future purchases, because you may be waiting for months instead of one month to receive your rewards. I think Maxperks can also be used to roll on future Maxperks rewards, but they don't count toward your $75 purchase. So if you want the extra $10 for spending $75, you might want to start with this deal and get at least $85 back in Maxperks to roll. That seems like the best deal to me, unless you think you might spend more OOP between quarters. So that's what I'm debating right now, either spend as close to $50 to get free shipping, or spend as close to $75 to get free shipping AND $10 extra. (also go through ebates to get 3%) I'd like to hear some replies as to which YOU think is the best way to go and why? Thanks!
  • Elizabeth
I searched the Office Max website and didn't see where a regular person can sign up for the max perks, only businesses and teachers. Also, I read the fine print for the business accts and it said you only start getting your reward points after your first $500 in purchases in a calendar year. So...is there a way we can get this as an individual? I am definitely interested in this deal!
  • misscoupondiva
I read the terms, and it siad for every $500 you spend you get a $25 reward automatically. I do not believe that there is a minimum purchase limit in order to start getting the max perks.
  • aluv5102
i have a business and the way i understand is that the reward points you are talking about on the $500 is what you earn after purchasing $500 worth of stuff...its different from the max perks
  • Tanya
Maybe some one can explain to us in detail. I do not understand either.
  • mdawnrose
It's not clear to me....5 each or 5 total????
  • ginnymay
I home school but still do not understand how it is all free. Can anyone tell me?
  • Suemh
I am not a teacher. However, I do help with my son's band activities. I signed up as a teacher. The only thing they ask is the name of a school. As far as I know, they do not try and verify that you actually WORK THERE. For some reason, I did not get my rewards for my purchases last quarter. I called them and they adjusted them and they were rolled over to this quarter. Right now my acct is showing almost $200 in Maxperks. I am looking foward to April.
  • Kristin
You can sign up if you home school I believe. I wonder if they have a lot of good deals to use the max perks?? How long do you have to use your max perks before they expire?
  • Tina
Can anyone explain how max perks work? I can't figure it out. Thanks.
  • Angela
I wondered about it also. Only ones I see are for a business or teachers?
  • Vince
just called the customer service number 866maxperks

whenever you earn the rewards, you'll receive a gift card by the 20th of the following month. great deal in my book! the only catch is that it expires in 90 days. but the deal with the paper - why not? then take the gift card and be on the lookout for great ads for the next 3 months!
the rewards can be used for anything in the store besides visa prepaid cards and the like.
  • cindersga
So can you use the gift card online or only in the store? I don't live close to a store so it would matter to me. Also, are all the items Jenny listed getting 100% rewards (purchase price) back in a gift card?
  • DC
From what I read, you can use it in store, at officemax.com, or ordering over the phone.
  • cindersga
    Thanks DC
