Walgreens Weekly Ad 3/14-3/20

Posted on Mar 13 2010 | By Jenny · Comments View Comments

Here are the deals at Walgreens this week. Sorry they are a bit late I fell asleep at the computer last night and then decided if I tried to keep working the math would be horrible! There is a little scenario at the end but I will work on a better one and try to add it after lunch today.  I can’t say there is much exciting this week though…shoppinglist1

If you are new to Walgreens read the getting started guide first! I promise it will help!

I had a great walgreens week....spent 14 saved 70. Also our local Walgreens had a lady up front handing out Caress Body Wash samples and were giving away a free gift basket. I brought my daugther with me today and so they gave us 2. My daughter loves the couponing......she is always helping me...while I'm in the grocery store she is in charge of collecting the blinkies for items we buy often. She is the reason I got two samples today....and she does chores and things in exchange for items such as the $1.00 Orbit 3 pack a few weeks ago...where actually there was a 3 pk on sale at target for 99c. so we got the gum for free.. She LOVES that.

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post but on 3/19 at Walgreens I found their brand of ink cartridges (compatible with HP 94-black; HP 95-color) on clearance. The black cartridges were only $4.29 and the color were $14.99. This compares to $21 for the black and $26 for the color on HP's website. I have successfully installed and used the Walgreen's-brand black cartridge. It works great!

I'm new this week to this site - thank you Jenny. I can't believe the amount of work you must put into this!

I was looking for the SS3/07 Jergens Natural Glow Skin Care coupon and couldn't find it. Is it a regional thing? Also, didn't see the Mission Tortillas that were said to have been in SS3/07. Are those regional too!
  • Meme
I had trouble with the Revlon deal tonight. I purchased four items, two cosmetics and two tools. I rang up one transaction and it didn't give me an RR. So the manager said it was because the register was computing the items at 40% off as they were put into the register. So I said "let's start over" and this time I included what I thought was to be a second $10 transaction. Well, all four items were very close but short of the $10 after coupons. So I added one item to take the order to $10.20 or so. I still did not get a $5 RR printed. The manager said it was because I had used enough coupons to again take the total purchase amount to $10.

Am I correct in that I should have gotten the $5 RR or is he correct?
  • Meme
Sorry, meant to say the total was just short of $10 and didn't print out the $5 RR or whatever the deal was. It is too late. I am going to bed!
  • Julie
I had something like this happen to me once. It just simply was not giving the RR back. The coupons should not matter as long as you are buying the right items and they total the right amount. If it is just 1 cent off it will not work. It is the price total of 10.00 before coupons. I had a manager tell me the same thing before and blamed it on the coupons reducing the price. So we rang the items without the coupons just to see if it would print a RR and guess what no RR printed. You should of seen his face! I would call the main/head manager over the store and ask why it did not work and he/she can look up the transactions on the receipt by the numbers on the system and let you know what happened. I was given a gift card for my trouble once when The RR simply was not working. Some of the other managers do not use coupons and and do not understand the system of the RR.

    Jenny
I would just like to say THANK YOU!!!! My husband has been off work since July 3rd of last year and we have been struggling the whole time. But because of you and all the help and wisdom you provide my family in less than a month has a stock pile of toothpaste, toilet paper, cleaning product's air freshner, cereal galore, and other food items that I normally would not be able toafford. My 14 yr old son went with me on one of my couponing days and he was so amazed and told me that he thought this was way cool, lol. He has plenty of body wash and shaving supplies as well as the other 2 kid's having what they need. Jenny I think you get the idea and I just want to say again Thank you so much for all you do. I do appreciate all your hard work and the time you put in to all of these deals.. You Rock!!
  • Stacey

I can't find the Johnson & Johnson coupon in my 3/14 RP. I bought the Greenville News on Sunday. Can someone help? I've looked over and over!!!
  • sandyc215
Just came from my local (Fayetteville, GA) Walgreens- they had a tray of store brand diapers near the register, clearance-priced at $4 a pack. I don't have any babes, but at that price I bought a pack for the local food pantry!
  • ItsACouponThing
FYI: Arizona Green Tea has some great flavors now, like this Chinese Pomegranate. (Sounds weird, but very good.) They have it on sale for 59 cents, if you use their in-store coupon. Surprising thing is, the cashier told me this. Otherwise, I would have been paying full price. (I have never had a cashier do that before. I wanted to hug her!) Anyway, give it a try!
  • savysaver
Does anyone know about the GP everyday essentials rebate where you spend $20 get $5 by mail? My question is about the small print that says (excluding sales tax - which I get, and after all discounts and credits have been applied - part I am questioning). So if I use a .50 coupon on quilted northern ($3.99 sale price) and then my RR from the colgate toothpaste with a few filler items I would have only spent maybe .40 cents OOP. I'm thinking this ($3.49) wouldn't qualify toward the $20 for the rebate, am I correct?
  • charlottebcarroll
hey. i went to walgreens tonight in statesboro to purchase the excedrin with coupons (printable).. they would not take them! they said that they raised to many red flags? what is this about? i haven't ever had any trouble before but apparently the companies are not paying out? what should i do?
  • savysaver
a lot of places are refusing printable because some of them are counterfeit, 12.31.2010 dates are ones one RA manager told me about and a cashier at Kmart too
  • Hesperides
There's an in-ad coupon for Chap-Stick at $.99 each, limit three. There is a coupon for $1 off three (I cut everything out so I forget where it came from, sorry!!). This would make it $1.97 for three, or $.66 each. I'm a ChapStick junkie, so this is awesome for me :)

I love hard-working Jenny's website!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She rocks!!!!!!!!!!!! Just sayin' - no one better be slammin' her for nothing, or else - LOL.... :)

In my paper (TLH Democrat), there was a WAGS coupon for Secret or Old Spice in the circular, but I don't see it listed here. That's OK...my question is: how do I find a coupon match for this product or others? Is there a way on So. Savers to locate this match?
  • Carrie

I have some coupons I need to get rid of. I got them in a home mailer from essentialsforlivingwell(dot)com and I can't use any of them but hate to throw them away. I always feel like I'm throwing actual money away if I throw a coupon in the garbage :-)
    The coupons are:
$1 off any OsCal Calcium Supplement
$1 off any Ecotrin Aspirin Therapy
$1 off any Citrucel with Smartfiber
$1 off any Feosol Iron Supplement
You can also go to essentialsforlivingwell(dot)com and register with them and get more coupons of these same items as well as a few others.
If anyone is interested let me know. They don't expire until May.
  • melissa
I saw there is a str cpn in ad for reynolds wrap for .89 cents, there is a bricks .50 cent off cpn here: http://bricks.coupons.com/Install.asp?tqnm=zcpl...

I never seem to do as well at Walgreens as I do at CVS and Rite-Aid. Do y'all find the same thing or is it just me? I do OK, but always seem to spend more OOP and typically get more of a hassle at Wags than the others.

I DID find one thing tonight that I was excited about. I had actually been planning on going to the Mall of GA tomorrow and looking for a "train case" type make-up case for all my great goodies (Thanks, Jenny!) I had looked at several cases online and found them to be fairly expensive. The cheaper ones were $40-ish and they went on up from there, into the hundreds! Well...I just happened to find in Wags tonight a Caboodles train case that was on clearance. It was originally $29.99, but I got it on sale for $14.49!!! I even got on for my sister for her birthday!
  • HollieJ
WOW-It is so dissappointing to see negative comments left here. I am so blessed by the hard work that Jenny does for this site- I really hope that she knows that we SS fans appreciate her hard work!! Now thanks to SS I can head to Wags tomorrow PREPARED! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU JENNY!!!!
  • angie k
My Walgreens (North Florida) has their brand of diapers on clearance for $2.29/pack! Looks like they are changing their packaging, but who cares?! I got several packs of diapers for $0.04/diaper! Can't beat that!!

I don't see the oscar mayer bacon on sale in the circular. How did you find the sale?

I can't find the $1 off band aid coupon in RP 3/14. There is one for .50 off though, was this a mistake??
  • lilmansmom
When Wags advertises "After Instant Coupon" in their circular, are they referring to their March savings booklet coupons or an additional discount? In the weekly circular, Miralax is advertised for $14.99 after $4.00 instant coupon in store. If the instant coupon is stackable with their March savings booklet coupon of $4.00 and the manufacturer coupon of $4.00, that would be $6.99?
  • hhimommy
The "Instant Coupon" is the coupon from the March savings booklet. My wags mgr said that you must have the coupon to get the discount - it does not come off automatically. So in the scenarior you list for Miralax, you would need to have the coupon from the booklet to get the $14.99 price, then your mfg coupon stacked would taked it down to $10.99. This is very misleading on wags part, because I bet most of the cashiers will not tell customers that they need to go get that booklet before they start checking out.
  • I didn't see this posted, but if it is then I sorry. Good deal on sudafed nasal spray. Walgreens has a RR deal on certain Cold and Alergy products: Buy 2 participating products @ $4.99 each and get a $5 RR back. Buy 2 Sudafed OM Mist 0.5 fl oz $4.99
Use 2 $4 Sudafed OM, any 0.5 fl oz from 3/14 RP Makes this a money maker of $3.00 if your store allows overage.
  • O sorry I live in Gainesville, Fl and in our insert we had a $4 coupon for sudafed om and a $2 coupon for sudafed pe.
  • triciaj
I had to search for the coupons because I thought I'd seen them in this Sunday's inserts, but they weren't listed under the deal. I finally found the Sudafed coupons in my 3/14 RP (Tennessean) as well, but they were only for -$2. Still 2 @ 4.99 - (2) $2 off + 5 RR back works for me!
  • elisa
I'm sad I won't be getting as many bandaids (we use a lot of them), but I think I've worked out a scenario to use my 10 RR's from last weeks Dr. Scholls and get some good deals.

    Transaction #1:
2 Revlon products amounting to a total around $11
    1 Colgate toothpast $3.99
    1 cadbury egg $0.39
    - (2) $2 off revlon
    - $1 off colgate
    -$10 RR
OOP: about $0.38 + tax (depending on price of Revlon)

    Transaction #2
    2 neosporins $4 each
    1 bandaid $3
    1 colgate toothpaste $3.99
    1 cadbury egg
    - $3 off neosporin and bandaid
    - $1 off neosporin
    - $1 off colgate
    - $2 off nesoporin (wags x2)
    - $5 RR (from Revlon)
    OOP: $1.38 + tax

    TOTAL OOP = $1.76 + tax
    Remaining RR's = 11 (8 from Colgates + 3 from bandaid/neosporin)

    Does this look right???
  • elisa
Well, this turned out to be a bit of a disaster b/c I didn't figure in the 40% off, so I had to have the casheir remove one Revlon item and them ring up a different item to make it $10. Then after all that, it didn't print my RR's. I ended up using the RR's from the Colgate to pay for the next transaction, forgetting that it then would not print the Colgate RR's if I paid with them. I ended up spending $6 OOP and leaving with 3RR's (still not bad, but much worse than it should have been).
The good news is that it did print a coupon for $5 off Revlon, so today I will go back and buy 2 lipsticks (2.99 each) and 1 blush (5.99), use my $5 off coupon and 2 $2 off coupons, use my 3RR's and end up with 5RR's. If all goes as planned this time, I should actually be able to make money off the Revlon deal!
  • Carrie
When you go back, if you use your $5 Revlon RR to get more Revlon, then you won't get another $5 Revlon RR. You can't use RRs from the same company and continue getting more RRs. Ex: The Colgate deal this week. You can't buy one, get RR then turn around and buy another Colgate with that RR and receive another RR. Am I making any sense at all? I know what I mean, but it seems as if it is coming across just as confusing as the WAGS policy really is. Attempting to help.
  • elisa
Thanks, Carrie! I finally figured that out after I went back and tried my second scenario. For some reason I was thinking that the coupon was just a coupon and the RR's were separate--obviously, I was not reading close enough, since I now see that it states that above. I did still get a pretty good deal on the products, though--just not as good as I was thinking it would be. I'm beginning to feel that Wags is not worth the effort, with all their crazy coupon policies--especially for someone as airheaded as I am! Thanks again for your help!
  • Carrie
Your welcome. I remember after doing WAGS for a few months (and messing up somehow every time), that I finally had one day where everything went smoothly. I told the cashier (my favorite who has seen me get better over time) how smoothly that went. She said that she had her fingers crossed the whole time but was afraid to say anything for fear of jinxing it. So, from one airhead to another, it gets easier! I'm glad that I was able to help.
  • ziggy34434
Check you stash. There was a -$1 off eggs or produce when you buy 2 Oscar Meyer Ready to Serve Bacon tearpad coupon at Publix. Eggs are $1.19 at Walgreens and the bacon is BOGO, so not a bad deal there.
  • rclay18
Type your comment here.Band Aid Brand has a $5 rebate when you buy The Princess and The Frog DVD and 2 participating band aid products. CVS has the DVD on sale for 19.99 plus $3 ECB. Walgreens has the band aid deal right now. I'm thinking after sales, coupons, rebate, RRs and ECBs you could get the DVD and band aids for 8.99? I think I might try this. I don't know if I have the right coupons......cross my fingers.....
  • Meme
Has anyone bought the Crest Whitestrips using the in-ad coupon and the $7.00 P&G coupon? i noticed the sale is on a larger count than the P&G coupon (it is for 14 count). I would like to know if they are honoring the coupon.
  • Stacy Montgomery
    Jenny,
The only Band-Aid coupon I see in the 3/14 RP is for $.50 off, not $1...help!!!!
  • khangy
Stacy, coupons can vary by region. The insert preview that Jenny posts is a sneak peek, but isn't always accurate as to what coupons you get.
  • ladybugsmom
Anybody in the Mcdonough, GA area, the Walgreens on Hwy.81 is not printing the toothpaste RR. The nice cashier told me before I even started. She was so nice to let me know, she said they are working on getting it fixed...Thanks Jenny :)
  • seibertsings
Bummer! I missed the fact that the Revlon RR was only for my next REVLON PURCHASE! Jenny caught it, and it's on this shopping list. I just wanted to highlight that for anyone who might try to do the Revlon deal and miss that little detail.

Thanks, Jenny for all you do to help us save money! I LOVE this website!!!! :-)
  • Amy_Q
Yeah, I missed that, too :-(
  • elisa
Me, too. I actually did this deal twice before I finally figured it out--LOL! I wish I had looked a little more closely at this posting before running to Wags. Oh well, I really didn't end up that much OOP and got A LOT of Revlon products, so I'm not too disappointed. =)
  • Amy_Q
Oh, we can always use more make-up, right??? Oh and did you see my post about the deal on a make-up box at Wags? I got a Caboodles "train case" (similar ones online are $40 and up) on clearance for $14.49! Now I have a place to put all my sweet deals!!!
  • elisa
Ooooh, thanks! I didn't even realize they still made Caboodles--those things are awesome!
  • Chrissy
Hey everyone! I noticed in my paper inserts a $.55 off coupon for Reese's Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups, and Wags has a coupon that makes Hershey's candy (including Reese's) $.49! They'll make great Easter Basket fillers!
  • Jill
    Awesome. Thanks, Chrissy!
  • Bobbie
Ugh!! After missing an hour of sleep and still waking early I headed to Wags to see why they are always out of everything after church. The children's bandaids was marked down to $2.29 at my store and with the $2.00 off in the Children's Activity book they were .29. But don't think they would pair with the regular bandaids and neosporin to get the RR's. Didn't even try to do that. Maybe I should have. If you can find the Children's activity book it might still be worth buying for the nesporin deal but the coupons do expire the end of March. I've had mine for a while after looking everywhere for one.
  • Stacey
Do we HAVE to buy 6 qty on the Colgate toothpaste to get the $3.99 RR back? The ad doesnt mention that?
  • Kings
I think she meant 6 oz size.
  • S_Carolina_Girl
Don't forget the coupons from the Game of Life. I know there is one for $10.00 of the Craig DVD Player.

    $29.99 Craig DVD Player
    -10.00 Game of Life Coupon
    -$5/$25 coupon
    $14.99
Get $10 SCR, makes it $4.99

Also, there is one for Neosporin, although I cannot remember the dollar amount.
  • S_Carolina_Girl
Sorry, in wrong forum and I can't delete. =(
  • Stacy
    Thats ok!
    And thank you :)
  • frelee03
I bought the neutrogena acne kit two weeks ago and it had a $4 mfr cpn in it! Hopefully the ones I pick up tmrw havew the same. My girls love these.
  • Phillip
Jenny, the site is amazingly helpful and useful and we're all grateful for your hard work. Saw the article in Columbia Metropolitan too, and your mention in this post of falling asleep at the computer reminded me that in the article I think it said you get about 5 hours of sleep a night. Most health-care professionals would agree, that's not enough. Make sure you take care of yourself, too!
  • gurleyjackie
I was wondering excederin is B1G1 , and i have a cpn for a free one does this mean i could get 2 for free? :)
  • Ashley
    yep!
  • Cole05
And I tried yesterday for the Excederin Menstrual($2/1 coupon in March Walgreens coupon book). It is B1G1. The only thing is that it was on sale for 4.99 and they gave it to me BOGO at reg. price 5.99. So I still got 2 for $2. Hey, never pay more than $1 for ANYTHING!!
  • Unfortunately I don't think the Band-Aid deal will work. The CAB coupon says it's off the Licensed Character band-aids, not the regular ones and usually the ad specifically states if the character (kid) band-aids are the ones on sale, so unless those are included, you won't be able to use that coupon on the Band-aids. Bummer. :(
  • mcleodsc
The CAB will not work on this deal BUT my store had Barbie Bandaids marked down to $2.29-I got 2 for .29 each after the CAB. I left 4 for other shoppers.
  • AKLLHOLL
Anyone know if the MC $3 off Bandaids/Neosporin will work with the children's characters Bandaids? IF they do you could buy three Neosporin and three children's Bandaids. Use (3) MC -$3 Bandaids/ Neosporin (takes off $9), the CAB -$2 Neosporin (takes off $6) and the CAB -$2 Childrens Character Bandaids (takes off $6) for zero oop, some overage and still get $3 RR. I'm sensing this is TOO good to be true so I wanted to check with veteran shoppers. Thanks to all of you guys too for going in stores and trying purchases out and letting the rest of us know how it goes. Jenny does SUCH great things for us all but all that add comments help too. We're so blessed to have this site!
  • ziggy34434
Makes sense. The character band aids are $3.79 regular price. So, that should make everything $2.37 will $3 RR back. 63 cent profit.

Also check for Sudufed OM nasel spray. There was a $4 off coupon in Sundays Red Plum ($2 in some places). They are $4.99 on sale paying 5 RR (month long deal) when you buy two. That makes them $1.98 for 2 or a $3.02 profit!
  • melissa
yes it will work i used my coupon the 3 off bandaids and neosporin and they took it.
  • AKLLHOLL
Thank you Melissa! You are awesome!
  • jhoran
True, but all is not lost!!! Buy 2 bandaid and 2 neosporin. Use the 3.00/2 bandaid/neosporin, the wags neosporin q 2.00/1 (will come off twice).
    2 neo. 2 band aid = 14.00
    2 - 3.00/2 q 6.00
    1 wags 2.00/1 twice 4.00
    Pay 4.00 , get back 3RR
Actual cost for 2 bandaid and 2 neosporin = 1.00
  • Tina M
    I bought 2 Neosporin and 1 bandaid. Used $3 MQ Neosporin/bandaids, $1 MQ Neosporin, -$4 (Walgreens Neosporin q off each) = $2 OOP and earned $3 RR.
  • Tina M
Sorry, it was $3 OOP , not $2
  • C.
    You cannnot stack another Mfr. coupon on top of the $3/2 Neosporin/Band-Aid coupon. If you purchased 2 Neo and 1 Band-Aid it should have been like this;

    2 Neosporin = $8
    1 Band-Aid = $3
    - $3/2 Mfr. Coupon
    - $2 CAB x 2

    = $4 OOP getting $3 RR back.
  • Tina M
The $3 manufacturer Q was for one Neosporin and the bandaids, the other Neosporin q was for the second Neosporin and the $4 off was a wags Q
  • Khutch
Sorry, but I think I'm missing something... but I really want to do the Band-Aid deal (my 5 year old is learning to ride his bike- enough said:) Is there an in ad Q for $2 for Neosporin? I didn't see it anywhere on the ad scan. Thanks for any help.
  • jhoran
No. The 2.00/1 q is in the wags. children activity book which in my store was found in the toy department on the shelf next to other books for kids. My store does not take the q at the time of the sale, so I'm able to reuse time and time again. All the q's expire at the end of march. You only need to use one so if you buy 3, the register automatically deducts for all 3 at the same time.
  • saavy shopper
The Neosporin coupon is not an in-ad Q, it's actually found in the WAGS Childrens Activity Book. You can purchase the CAB for .99; it's found in a display at the pharmacy or in the aisle with the coloring books. However, most stores have been sold out of the coloring books for a while and they're hard to find right now. eBay would be your best bet. Coupons in the CAB expire 3/30/2010.
  • ItsACouponThing
Saavy, I wonder if that means that we can see new CABs soon!
  • ziggy34434
The Band Aid coupon in the activity book is for Character Band Aids. Unless these are included (they don't appear to be), then they are irrelevant. The Neosporin one will work however. Three Neosporin would be free after RR with it and 3 manufacturer coupons.
  • smiley8kids
How do you get 3 coupons if the computer only allows you to print 2?
  • ziggy34434
More than one computer. We have three. I also have family that will print them off for me. Ask family to print and mail if they don't mind. Send them stamps or coupons they may want more of.
  • Carrie
That's a good idea. I have a grandmother who might be willing to do that. I've never thought of that.
  • Carrie
Many people seem to have access to more than one computer, so they then print their two allowable prints from several different computers. I don't know if that is how the person above has 3 coupons but that's what I've heard from others who get more than 2 prints.
