Eye-Fi for Father’s Day & Giveaway!

How many pictures do you keep on your camera? If you are like me, you delete pictures off to make room, so that you can take more. If you have trouble finding time to transfer pictures, lose your cable or card reader, or if you have to get someone a little more technical (your middle-schooler) to transfer them for you, Eye-Fi may be your solution.

Eye-Fi is a “normal” SD memory card for your camera – with a twist. It’s a “wireless SD memory card with up to 8GB of class 6 memory with built-in 802.11n Wi-Fi”. That’s really cool to my husband, but all you need to know is that it uses your existing home wireless network and it wirelessly transfers your images to your computer for you and some models allow you to transfer to your favorite web sharing site (like Flickr & Facebook – you can pick one from 25 sites). It is the normal size for an SD card, nothing sitcks out or makes your camera look any different. All you need is a SDHC capable camera and a wireless router.

Not only is this doing the work for you but it also helps to keep you organized as it files them on your computer by date. The big part to us is that your memory card never gets full using the endless memory feature!!

When Eye-fi contacted us to try this out we didn’t even have a camera that took an SD card. I told my husband about it though, he quickly found a cheap adapter so turn an SD card into a Compact Flash card. So we were ale to use this without any problems in our Cannon Rebel and Cannon 50D. I confess though that when we took our old card out to put this one in we still had Christmas pictures on the card!! I’m so excited that we will start to get pictures off faster!

Or is screaming through the house at me asking where it is instead of just looking for it (it's usually real close by).     I would give this to my husband, Ray, for Father’s Day. We have a 1 year old son and our daughter will be born in July. He is the best, most loving, compassionate and attentive father. He is also a dedicated and very loyal employee at his job and gives 120% everyday no matter how he feels or how he is treated. He is the best husband STILL after 10 years of marriage :) Every single day feels like Valentine’s Day at our house. He goes out of his way to be romantic and loving to me on a daily basis. He is even kind to his mother-in-law!!!! He sat with her for 1 week straight while she was having health issues in the hospital (I couldn’t be there due to the pregnancy) and did not leave her side.     We recently decided to redecorate using various pics of our 9 kids. I don't take as many photos as I used to, so I delegated my husband as our own “professional” photographer. He is actuall looking at upgrading to a rather pricey camera, but one that takes amazing shots and that we can keep for a long time. I can't believe they make a product that does this and uploads your pics for you. Sounds awesome!

    I would love this for my grandfather. He just got into the digital camera thing but still has problems transferring them.( Usually I do it for him whenever I go to visit.) They have a wireless digital photo frame that is big for my grandmother to see and it links to the file where I download the pictures for them. This would be awesome for them so he can do it himself and my grandmother can see them now not in 6 months when I get back for a visit.

We haven't kept up with it, and when I think about getting the cords out hook everything up for a transfer, I lose the drive I had in the first place. This would be an awesome gift!!!

    I would give it to my parents who after taking 4 SD cards worth of pictures of grandkids and family have yet to transfer any of them onto their computer. They continue to carry around the SD cards and put them in at photo center's to print pictures when they want them. Sometimes they just show others their pictures from the viewer on their camera. This would enable them to email photos and create fun photo books (which they love).

    I would certainly give it to my husband for father's day. My husband is not only the father to our three children, but also he's a father figure to my nephew and our preachers grand-daughter (who likes to be known as my sister although their is no blood or marriage to leagalize that). He has been a father for 5 years now, and not one father's dat have we been able to get him something he truely would enjoy. Of course, he cherish's the sweet little cards the children make him and the framed picture of the children I take each fathers day and give him but I know deep down he wishs just once we could splurge for him something special.

    Along with the cute little hand colored and painted pictures my children give him, they would so love to give him a special gift and an eye-Fi would certainly be it.

    My husband bought me a lap top and a Canon 40D when I was pregnant with our second child. I told him we needed a better camera now that we will have two kids to take pictures of for a long time to come.
    He was sweet enough to make this investment for our family (I say “he was” as I don't work outside the home and have no income to contribute to our family).
    When I got the camera I was so excited but quickly got overwhelmed with it, as it didn't look or act like my old Canon SLR (circa 1976??). So, he was the one who, with no picture taking experience jumped in and learned all about all the manual settings and file sizes, etc, etc.
    I would LOVE to be able to give this to him for Father's Day since he is the one who now takes most of the pictures and we do NOT have any money to buy anything for him so if we don't win this, we will just be giving him our homemade cards. (which is always enough anyway).

    I would give it to my children’s Christian School. I would get to use it from time to time because I am the yearbook editor. But this would be great because we are always taking pictures of the kids on special days at school(when I am not there) and they could download it using the school’s wireless system and can be downloaded onto a special dropbox(this is an awesome way to share files of pics to family and friends, look into dropbox.com) folder for me to get them at home too! SWEET! I would love for them to get this. Christian schools have limited income and use fundraisers to help with different needs, but they would be totally grateful to receive this has a gift!!! I bought him a new Cannon Rebel digital with all the bells and whistles Christmas 2008. In January 2009, our home was broken into around 10:00 a.m. while we were at work and they took everything: jewelry, electronics, silverware, and yes, his new camera outfit and all that goes with it. It hurts that followign the death of his mother, I discovered that he had over taped an old video we took of her talking to my 17 year old who was then about 9 months old.
    Owing this Eye-fi would have prevetned such a tragedy.

I'd much rather be behind a camera than in front of it, so I frequently act as the photographer for just about any occasion that warrants a photo memory! Nature shots are my favorite. However, my husband has managed to get some really cool nature shots from the air! Unfortunately, he recently lost most of his when his computer crashed. It would be nice for him to “start over” with this new Eye-Fi memory card that would upload to another site for safekeeping! Suppose we could share, but I have a feeling once we both used it we'd opt to purchase one so we could each have our own! Thanks, Eye-Fi, & SouthernSavers!

My husband hates it when I take pictures of the family b/c most of the time I am deleting pictures from Easter, Christmas, my child's baptism, or my brother's wedding to take a family picture. By the time I delete enough pictures my kids are either gone, upset, crying, undressed and my husband is NOT smiling. He does not understand why I can't upload the pictures instantly and then clear my memory card. I am VERY BAD about keeping hundreds of pictures on my memory card. I try to remind myself to clear them before major holidays! The Eye-fi sounds like a great solution to my BIG problem!

We just had a brand new baby and one of our memory cards is filled up with over 800 pics of her. We are so bad that whenever we go on vacation we end up buying a new card because the other one is filled up.     If I won this contest, I'd give the Eye-fi to me! My daughter isn't just an only child, she's the only grandchild on both sides of the family, and the nearest grandparents are 600 miles away. Pictures are our lifeline! I'm the family photographer, and I take pictures of her in the hundreds. Even though we do all travel back and forth, she's growing so fast at this age, and the pictures are priceless. However, they're a huge hassle. Finding the cable, downloading them, uploading them again, emailing everyone concerned and then ( I'm REALLY bad about this part) deleting them from the camera! Anything to simplify the process would be greatly appreciated!

    I would give it to my Husband. But of course I would use it more. I have tons of pics on my camera and more on my computer. It would be nice not to have to sinc everything up and deal with my temperamental machine. Plus it is just WAY TOO COOL!

He then gives the pictures to the coaches to use for yearbooks and/or banquets. He is always having to delete pictures because he never seems to get around to downloading them.     This would be so cool… I just recently purchased a wireless printer so I could print my coupons while I watched TV… If I had one of these gadgets I wouldn't need three different SD cards with lables… I'm afraid to delete pictures of my kids!
