This giveaway is a little more cutting edge than usual.  Many of you who visit Earthfare and Whole Foods might recognize a new product on the shelves called the Recycooler. To celebrate the Recycooler’s entry into stores, Recycool, Inc. has sponsored a giveaway on Southern Savers!

What is a Recycooler, you ask?

The Recycooler is a cooler that is reusable and 100% recyclable.  It is made of a minimum 60% post-consumer product and printed with soy-based ink.  If you take care of it, the Recycooler should last you a good while!

From today until Friday Recycooler is giving away 5 prize packs including a Recycooler and a T-shirt (pictured above).  There are two ways to enter:

1) Go to Recycooler’s Facebook page and “like” the product or comment on the product on their Facebook page or

2) Tell Southern Savers what day-trip a Recycooler would be the most useful for!

      What a “cool” idea. I am a school teacher. In an effort to reduce some operating costs, our district forbids having a refrigerator in the classroom. So, I have a perfectly good mini-fridge sitting at my house. This cooler would be great to take to school….for my lunch, to keep waters cold, to provide treats for my kids, to help with science experiments….and so on. I am liking this product!

      I have 3 kids who all play soccer. Our season is about to kick off next week. We are usually gone all day on saturdays at games. I always pack a lunch plus snacks and extra drinks.       We attend several Nascar races and this Recycooler would be excellent. Cooler must be able to fit under your seats and there would be no problem with the Recycooler.

      With a 6 and 9 year old, we are always on the road. Our sweet 7 month old baby doesn't mind at all because he's entertained by his older brother and sister. If we have all the bottles and food he needs, he's a happy camper. This cooler would make him even happier.

      Gees, what wouldn't this be good for? I would definitely take this with me to keep my frozen goods cold from the grocery store. But, it would also be good for beach cooler. Also good for company picnics and outings. Canoeing would be good too, since its soy and cellulose, if it fell off the boat, it would biodegrade into the environment. It's a pretty awesome box, I gotta say.

      Especially on the Wednesdays that I travel 75 miles to a Harris Teeters when Jenny tells us they are having all the good deals. Then stop by Publix on the way back home. I really have a difficult time keeping cold things cold when the weather is around the 100 degree mark and when there are 3 or 4 persons traveling together in a pickup truck with a bed cover on it. We have the entire back of the truck loaded down with all the goodies Jenny shares the info about.

      Great! We need a new cooler to transport our raw milk from the local farm that is 30 minutes away. My 2 boys, who are under 4 years old, both drink about 3 gallons of milk per week!

      Jenny, my daughter is starting tech in the fall to be a nurse. Some of her classes are at different campuses and she just has enough time to get from one campus to the other for her class. The recycooler would be wonderful for her lunches on those days to eat while she is in transit to her other class.

      I live near the Smoky Mountains so I think I would take the Recycooler and drive over to Townsend and park near the Little River and have a picnic and enjoy the river…I could pack some Gatorade, water, fresh fruit, Chicken Salad Sandwiches (Those yummy ones from Earthfare). Awwhh, very relaxing!

      I would love to have this cooler as we drive our first child off to college. We can use the cooler to carry water bottles and snacks on the trip. Once we arrive, I will just have to decide whether he can keep the cooler for his dorm room or take it home with me. Something tells me the cooler might just stay with my son!

      At work they told us we could no longer have small refrigerators in our classrooms because the county is trying to cut energy costs. I always used my refrigerator to keep drinks cold and to keep the students snacks cold. This would help me and my 24 students each day.

      Honestly, we most often use a cooler for our longer car trips, with family out of town in all directions, we need a way to take food with us (and sometimes bring some family baked foods home) and keep them cool!

      You could use it on a day hike for a picnic. And instead of those plastic wasteful coolers, when this one gets torn and un-useable, you won't feel bad when you toss it into your compost pile to recycle it! It is a great idea, I wish more people would think this way! We would be better off as a society.
