to add to my comment so if you only want one item of a bogo sale you only pay half price you do not have to buy two (except florida, there you have to buy two of bogo and they charge full price for one and .00 for the second) and you can use two coupons, one per item on bogos (as long as it is not a $/2 coupon) hope that helps some.

Not criticizing here…just an honest question. The last couple of weeks I've noticed a few coupons listed that are noted out to the side that they're expired, ie Pop Secret popcorn RP 8/29 exp 10/10. Has Publix changed their policy to accept outdated coupons?

I found the following coupons on another blog to use on a couple of the BOGO's. For the Cheez its you can stack the Walgreens $1/2 on Keebler snacks in the booklet to get each box for .65 cents. On the Kraft Mayo you can stack the Target Q of $1/2 Kraft items to get each one for $1.00. On the Dove Dove Hair Care 2/$6

you can use the $0.75/1 Dove Hair Product 10/3/2010 RP Insert AND the $2/1 Dove Hair Product Rite Aid Video Values to pay 25¢ a bottle! Also, you can stack the Rite Aid Video Value of $1/2 on GM product on the cereal to score a box of cereal for less than a $1.00 I hope this helps someone save even MORE at Publix :)

Those are good matches. Publix corporate has decided that drugstores are not competitors so I'm not going to add them to matches any longer.

While you may find that occasional stores still accept them, just know that this will become fewer and fewer as they start to enforce new policies.

Don't see a coupon for the Arnold bread in SS (or in RP–checked both, just in case) from 10/3. The only bread coupon I saw was the “Healthy Life Bread & Buns” (save 0.35).

LOL… I bought BOGO sauces last week and successfully helped another lady reach a sauce off top shelf. Then when reaching for mine I accidentally broke 2 jars of red spaghetti sauce trying to reach a jar of alfredo sauce from the top shelf last week. I was soooo embarrased! The people who worked there were super nice and cleaned it all up even offered to wash my flip flops. I still chuckle when I walk by that aisle.

The Publix I went to on Greensprings told me last week that they no longer stack coupons iwht the Target coupons. The reason the cashier told me was that they already work hard to give the lowest price. Anyone else had this problem?

Ha! Lowest price?!?! Publix doesn't even try to be a low price leader. That would be like Walmart claiming that they are a high end retail establishment. Publix succeds not because they compete pricewise with other grociery stores (overall they are one of the most expensive ones I have ever been to), but because they make it pleasent and easy to shop there.

In my area there are many who will only shop at Publix. Have you ever heard of someone that says they will only shop at Walmart? or Kroger? or Food Lion? Probably not. These stores strive to be low cost leaders. Most of their customers shop there not out of loyalty, but because they are price sensitive consumers.

In reply to the actual post, I have seen huge inconsistencies in between stores and even between managers within the same store. I remember once I had some Earth Fare coupons. 1 for 1 free lb of ground chuck with $5 purchase. The other was $2 off per pound on steak. One Publix took the free ground beef one, but claimed that they couldn't take the steak one while another store took the steak one and said that they couldn't take the ground chuck coupon.

The moral of the story is, if you have a great coupon you want to use and the cashier doesn't take it, try a different cashier. If the manager says “no,” go back on a different shift.

I guess it really depends on where you are because in South Fla Publix tends to have some of the lowest prices when compared to other grocery stores (except on meats and produce). The only other grocery stores in my area are Sedanos, Winn Dixie, and Food Town, all of which are higher priced. So I love Publix and happily accept any exceptions they may give to coupons.

I live in South Florida (25 years now) and Publix is the HIGHEST of all the stores. I live in Weston, and so Weston is higher than most other Publix. Sometimes you will see prices vacillate, but in my experience, Publix is the highest priced, but the cleanest and nicest store to shop in…in my part of South Florida. My manager said the rent was higher in Weston, so they had to charge more for groceries.

Publix does earn a portion of their $$ back on store coupons and BOGO sales. Each of those is a deal worked out with the manufacturer of that item. “How many of X can you sell in X amount of time?” You get paid X% for that. Maybe 80%, maybe 75%, etc… each varies..

There's a “$2.00 off Nestle Butterfinger, Crunch, and Wonka Variety Bag (22oz, 34.6oz and 48oz)” coupon on the coupons dot com website along with a “$2.50 off two Nestle Variety Bags (20oz or larger)” coupon. Both coupons reset yesterday afternoon if you had previously printed them.

There was also a $1.50 off 30-oz or larger Nestle or Wonka bagged candy coupon from the Target website a couple of weeks ago that will work perfectly if your store accepts Target as a competitor.

The $10.99 bags will be $5.49 for 2 (2.74 ea) after the $2.50/2 coupon and two $1.50 Target coupons.

The $8.49 bags will be $.75 each after the $2.00 coupon and the $1.50 coupon.

Personally I almost only buy wipes and diapers at the drugstores using my RRs or ECBs because then I end up paying next to nothing. I'm also not a big fan of the Pampers wipes, but that's probably just a personal preference. :-) Huggies wipes refills are on sale at CVS this week, and using my ECBs I ended up getting them for almost nothing. I look at the total price for both. I am going to assume the larger thing of diapers is $19.99. I happen to have $2Q for wipes and $2Q for diapers, both manufacturer. So $19.99 – 4 would be $15.99 for both a big box of diapers and large refill. I tend to agree with others that this is not a great deal—CVS or Rite Aid usually has MUCH better deals where these 2 Q can be used to maximize your savings. For instance, in weeks past, CVS has put Pampers or Huggies on sale for the jumbo pack at 8.99 with $2 ECB. I can use the $2Q with that for a pack of diapers that's going to cost $4.99…not to mention if I roll the ECBs then I probably end up spending MAYBE a couple bucks OOP.

One more: when Jenny lists a main product like “Hershey’s All Time Greats Snack Size, 24.17-27.8 oz. bag” with “- $1/2 Hershey’s, Reese’s, or Kit Kat snack size, 9-22 oz, SS 10/17″ as one of the coupons, how do those match up? And do I have to get the one that the coupon specifies? (Sometimes I get confused when Jenny lists something and the coupon for it is for a different flavor, size, etc.)

Whatever the coupon says, you have to go by. Sometimes the coupons will not match with your sale, but Jenny list everything that might possibly go, because some areas do differ.

The coupon listed by Jenny won't work for the product on sale. The item on sale is 24.17 – 27.8 oz and the coupon specifically states 9-22oz. So, as you realized, the coupon doesn't match up to the item. It happens quite a bit in the coupon match-ups since the folks doing the match-ups are human. ;-)

As you've discovered, just make sure you carefully read the coupon carefully before you redeem it for the product on sale to make sure it's the correct coupon for the item on sale.

Has anyone heard about policy changes at Florida Publix stores? I just came from my Publix in Palm Bay and the cashier informed me that the new policy is only ONE coupon for BOGO deals! She said They were really cracking down since people were taking advantage of the system; some folks are using BJ's “manufacturer” coupons which are clearly intended for large items (I don't do this!). If it's true, and they only take one now, then I'm sooooo bummed!!!!!!!

I would speak to the manager about it. The manufacturers will still pay them back for the coupons so it really doesn't make sense why they wouldn't want their customers to save as much money as (legally) possible. They even get a handling fee. :-)

On a related note… I wrote a letter to my local Publix asking questions regarding their coupon policy. I outlined every last scenario i have or may encounter. The result was an response letter that clearly answers all of the issues i have had int he past in regards to my couponing. I carry this letter with me every time i go to the store, this way – if i do run into a problem, i have a signed letter from the store manager confirming my side. :)

I understand that sometimes policies change, but this has ended quite a few disputes i have had with cashiers and even assistant managers.

I'm not sure how you can get $2 off 2 since both of the coupons listed require 2 items ($1/2 + .75/2). You would have to purchase 4 bottles in order to use both off those coupons. Maybe you have a coupon for $1/1 that isn't listed? Then you could use 2 and it would be $2 off 2.

A lot of times in situations like that if two coupons are listed it means that newspapers had one or the other based on the area. And then, of course, there are those areas that don't get either of those coupons too!

Answer this please…. if you buy a Schick Razor and you have the store coupon for “get a fee schick shaving gel” how can you use a $1 off coupon on the gel if it is suppose to be free?? Is the value of the gel not zero when it rings up??

No, the shaving gel rings up at regular price (ex. $2.67). Then when you hand the cashier your store Q, they will deduct the $2.67.

No, the gel will ring up the full price and then when you give them the coupon and they put it into the computer it will take off the price of the gel. Most stores allow you to use a manufacturer coupon on a product that you get for free because they still turn in the coupon and get that amount back from the manufacturer (plus 8 cents handling fee).

My laptop does the same thing every once in a while. It must be something with Windows7 because my older desktop doesn't have that problem with the coupon printer. I found out by trial and error that you have to uninstall the coupon printer first. Then, go through the prompts and install the coupon printer as if you've never installed it. My coupons always print after that. It is a pain but that's the only way I've been able to print the coupons.

i have the same problem .i can not print target .a few years ago found that if a lowered my security settings i could download and print coups from any site, but within two weeks i had to take my computer in, it had picked up a virus.smart source has been a problem for me as well i would keep installing and nothing. for some reason it will print them now but it takes forever.

Last week I shopped at my Publix, the same one I've always shopped at. I submitted several 50 cent coupons w/ the “Do Not Double” directive at the top. Ordinarily, Publix still doubles these up to the 50c level. When I rec'd my grocery slip, it had terminology on it I had never seen– “coupon suppressed” or something to that effect. I asked what had happened and the cashier explained that they could not double because of the manufacturer's DND directive. I told her that I've been shopping there, using those very same coupons for months, and had NEVER had a coupon suppressed, whichis true. I ended up with the GM, who advised me that my cashier had done it correctly–it was all the PREVIOUS cashiers who had done it incorrectly. The GM also explained that because of the DND directive, the most they could get reimbursed would be the 50 cents, so they would be losing the additional 50 cents if they doubled, which made sense to me… I feel like I totally screwed up, because now they are going to devote time and resources to re-educate their cashiers on this policy. All you Publix shoppers–please weigh in on your experience with this and offer any suggestions.

Thats what she is saying….her Publix used to double the coupons that said DND but now they arent because they only get reimbursed for the face value of the coupon..not the double. Publix has to eat the extra .50 if they double a fifty cent coupon to $1. It is their way of attracting customers, but it looks like now due to the ecomony it may be perhaps affecting that store.

I havnt run in to “suppression” yet…..but I always pick the same 2 cashiers…One is a boy too busy flirting to pay much attn, the other a single mom that loves to see my saved amnt…I think she is headed here so she can do it too! i do know it can happen, and I won't complain when it does….still saving money.

Right, but she was told because the coupon says “do not double” the most the store will get back from the manufacturer is 50 cents. The implication being that if it doesn't say DND, then the manufacturer would pay for the doubling.That's why I wanted to be clear about who pays for the doubling. If the store pays for the doubling, then they're not going to be paid back for the doubling whether or not the coupon says DND. If the manufacturer pays for the doubling, then what he says made sense.

At our two stores it depends on the cashier – there is one lady my friends and I call the coupon nazi, she spends a half an hour reading the fine print on each coupon to make sure everything is done correctly, and I have learned she has to manually suppress each “DND” coupon. Other cashiers bing them right through and don't stop to suppress them. I hope that helps!

Yes you are supposed to be able to use a money off coupon with a b1g1 coupon when getting two items. I have had problems doing this at some drug stores. I have never had a problem doing this at grocery stores.

They aren't printable. They are coupons that came in the newspaper inserts. If you didn't buy that paper, then you can purchase whole inserts or certain coupons that you want from coupon clipping services.

You can't print them, you just have to collect & save them each week (or buy them, as toni pointed out below). It can be frustrating at first, but keep in mind that most sales and coupons go in cycles, so even if you don't get it this time around, you will probably be able to get the deal in a month or two.

Erg, I had one of those mornings where I couldn't find any of the coupons I wanted–what is it with the SW FL newspapers??? I know I shouldn't complain, but I was really hoping for some cheap Nestle TollHouse cookies! :-)

Anyway, my day improved vastly when I went to Publix. What a pleasant store that is! I have the same problem in SWFL (Lehigh to be exact) – it seems to be hit or miss with newspaper inserts. I find buying a paper in town, or driving to buy one in Fort Myers has given me different options. I don't know why it's different. But… i do know (on a somewhat related note) that on Thanksgiving the Black Friday ads we get in home delivery News-Press are different than the Ads in papers you buy at a store. It's always been that way.

Maruchan Yakisoba noodles are still 60 cents. This makes for overage with the 50 cent coupon from a few weeks back. I only got two copies of it through my paper, and I found I actually liked those two free packs, so I went on Ebay and paid $2.99 to get 20 coupons. I'm so glad I did, because even though I was nervous I'd get my money worth out of them since they expired 10/31, I ended up making money. The coupon still doubles, so you're getting 40 cents overage on each one! I got an extra $5.60 off Tuesday when I went out and bought 14 packs (I didn't want to wipe out their stock totally), and today I went back, they'd restocked, so I got the last 6 for overage of $2.40 on my order. The savory soy sauce flavor is really good. I got one each of all the other flavors (teriyaki beef, spicy chicken, roasted chicken, and sweet and sour chicken) to try. I tried the shrimp and I really didn't like it though. I normally wouldn't eat this kind of thing, but I'm unemployed right now and I'm not above eating cheap noodles for lunch!

Great trip to Publix today :) Stocked up on snacks for a while with the great deals on Cheez it's & cookies. So glad to see the TGIF Fridays wings & quesadillas BOGO, they are a great dinner solution for those hectic days. Overall I spent 37.00 but saved 96.48. WhooHooo! My Publix takes competitor coupons so I used the Dollar General $5 off $25 purchase as well as Walgreens coupons from the Walgreens coupon book this week for extra added savings on Cheezits, Keebler cookies, Lipton green tea and Glade candles and scented oil refills. Not a great week for our family, but a total of $7.26 in overages from the Phazyme, Sominex and Vivarin will make for some really cheap milk, produce and toothbrushes. I did my first coupon shop last night and I think I did pretty well. I did find out that the Publix in Birmingham, AL on Hwy 31 in Vestavia will not take Target coupons because there is not a target close to that particular Publix, not sure about the one that is in Hoover.

I told the cashier upfront I had coupons and had them in some sort of order. She wanted them first, but rang everything up and then ran all my coupons. I went back on my receipt to “match” them with the item as best I could to make sure I used them correctly. I get confused about some of the mfg.Q and what is allowed when you use two. I had $2.00 I could not “match” back, which was ok since it was in my favor ;) I did have some that had “multiplied coupon”. What does that mean?

That probably means it was doubled. Most Publix stores will double coupons valued at .50 or less.

If you use 2 different mfg.Q on a b1g1, and both are for $1.00 off, does Publix give you $2.00 off for the two items or $1.50 since its not a store Q matched with a mfg.Q? Seems like I read somewhere that they only give you face value for one and up to .50 on the second. It looks like they gave me 1.00 off, per coupon.

Hope that makes sense, I have almost confused myself … I should have added up all my coupons before I left, but didnt think about it.

Jennifer, try to Publix closer to the Galleria ( a little further down Hwy31). They consider Target a competitor, even though the one you went to does not. Strange I know since they are only about a mile away from each other!!!

The Publix stores doubles coupons up to $0.50 so any coupons you used that were less than 0.50 were a “multiplied coupon”. Hope that helps! :)

Not a great Publix week for me. Probably a good thing since I don't have a lot of room left in my pantry. I will be going in for some Salad Mix, Butter Cake and, possibly some DelMonte tomatoes (if that coupons works, seems it was specifically for something different).

DONT FORGET MONEY MAKERS—the Vivarin (caffine pills), Sominex (sleep aid) and Phazyme (Gas aid) all give you over $2 overage each…. that is all free plus $6 OVERAGE if you buy two of each item!!! I had no problem printing two of the $2 off coupons from the website and got three of the coupons from the Green Advantage ad. I ended up with 6 boxes of stuff plus three bags of chips I needed and owed $1.95. (you have to pay tax)…my order total was -.19!!! Wow. So, you need free milk, eggs, milk or something…here is a free $6 to do so, plus you can donate the items if you dont need them!!

Pretty good week for me. I didn't have the right coupons for the moneymakers (just starting my coupon collection) but I saved 48 and spent 50. The Milano cookies were not part of the BOGO…but Ritz were an unadvertised BOGO (and I had my small organizer with the loose unmatched printable qs). Hey Cheryl – start small. Just print a few coupons for a couple items you think you can use. What helped me once I signed up for the Sunday paper I put them in plastic sleeves by date so when u want to find a certain coupon u just go to the specific paper and coupon book (RedPlum or SmartSource etc) We all started there – I used to go to WalMart and think I was saving…I now pay about half for groceries and buy more stuff I want.

Start Small! Go to Jenny's link at teh top of teh page and skim through the printable coupons available. Print the ones you think you will use. Also make SURE to start getting your Sunday newspaper. Even if you aren't able to use any out of this week's paper this week, the Q's will match up with upcoming sales. I'm not sure about other areas, but my Dollar Tree has our local paper for $1 instead of the $1.50 regular price.

If you have a store Q for buy 3 for X off, can you use a mfg Q, & competitor Q also, as long as you have the same number or coupons for the same qty. of items the Q calls for? and …. Can you have 2 different mfg. coupons for 2 different items or does it have to be a store Q & mfg Q? the general rule as I've understood it is one manuf. q and one store q per item purchased. And same goes for $X.XX off 2 or 3 or 4 items. One manuf & one store per amount of items purchased. A manuf. q is a manuf. q regardless of where it comes from so you can only use one per item/sets of items purchased. You have to check the store you shop it to see how they handle competitors q's. Most stores treat them as store coupons but there are some stores that don't. I don't understand your question about $ General Q. Those count a little bit differently because those apply to the purchase price, not items purchased. If that makes sense. The Publix that I shop at will allow me to use multiple of these coupons as long as they come from different stores and I purchase the amount required. For instance, on a $200 purchase before coupons I can use one Publix $10 off a $50 purchase, one Aldi $5.00 off a $30.00 purchase and an Albertsons $5.00 off a $50 purchase. But I always make sure to ask or offer to split the transaction Check with your local store to see if you can do this. And always, if you are at the store and have questions or get confused ask customer service or a manager. I have found that they are happy to help especially considering you are trying to be honest and use the coupons correctly.

Getting concerned about coupon overuse in my area…..I had a manager come over because of a discrepancy with a $1/2 mq (my fault), but he told me that they are starting to change the way they handle q's and the amounts allowed. YIKES! What does that mean? No more stacking? A limited number per customer? I just hope it was said in the hopes of discouraging me and not out of a serious pursuit. (This was in Sarasota, FL on Fruitville Rd.)

I've actually had employees at Publix tell me that a few times but it was mainly things like they (the store I shop at) are not taking internet coupons on “free” items and that they are starting to crack down. But it seems that they are just scrutinizing things a little bit more. For instance, making sure the coupons match what you are buying or you are using the right amounts. So far I haven't seen them stopping the stacking or anything like that. They are just being more careful. Oddly enough, the last few weeks I've had a few people tell me that they use coupons for the wrong items and they love getting the younger cashiers that don't know any better and take them anyway. So it seems like it's more of making sure they are being used right and not accepting possible fraudulent coupons more than anything.

People who abuse coupons and use them on products they are not intended for are only hurting themselves. yes, they may get away with it but those folks are the ones who are causing the scrutiny. I have no problem with them cracking down on coupons and taking extra time to look over them and make sure they aren't copies or being used incorrectly. If you are couponing the right way, and only purchasing the products that the coupons are intended for, then you should have a problem. Seems like the people who run into problems at Publix aren't doing it right in the first place.

My Publix had 2 of those coupon dispensers by the Pillsbury refrigerated goodies (sweet rolls, crescent rolls, etc). One was giving out $1/2 Pillsbury Sweet Rolls, Grand Sweet Rolls, or Refrigerated Pie Crust and the other had $1.25/2 Pillsbury Refrigerated Cookie Dough (any variety).

Just a heads up to look for those – even if you don't use them in Publix now (they're not on sale). They don't expire till 12/5! :)

I took my Albertsons ad to Publix to get the 1.98 a pound boneless, skinless chicken breast to be told that they don't price match competors prices only their coupons…is this right? or did I just get the one who won't match? Valrico, FL publix on the corner of Lithia Pinecrest and Bloomingdale rds

Yes, that's right, as far as what I've been told. They only match coupons, not sales or prices. Although I have seen Target publicize that they will match prices.

I have been told the same thing. You should be able to use Albertsons meat coupons at Publix though. The general meat coupons (i.e. Center Cut Pork Chops) not the ones that can be construed as Albertsons brand meat (i.e. Angus London Broil, or a meat that only Albertsons carries).

Publix does not price match ad's they will only except competitor coupons. Food lion matches competitor prices.

The Publix stores in my area (Harbison Blvd., Columbia, SC) do not have the same Advantage Buy flyers that Jenny has listed. Also, they don't honor the Advantage Buy prices.

At our Publix (Greenville, SC) the BOGO Nestle tollhouse cookies – the caramel & chocolate filled kind which are really good – had a save $1 on 1 coupon stuck on the package! Don't have to work at all to save on this one!

I have made my list and clicked on match up the coupons, but the coupons didn't print. I'm confused… did i do something wrong?

The way mine is set up the coupon match up is already selected & if i click on it the check mark goes away and coupon match up won;t print. Make sure the box is checked before printing.

You have to print the coupons out individually. Some of the coupons have links, others come from newspaper inserts or magazines. Checking the “include coupon matchup” just creates your list of items along with the coupon options.

I had that same question when I started using this site. It takes a bit to get familiar with everything. The Couponing 101 links really helped. Like the person before me said (Val), when you click on the “coupon matchups” link, it only gives you a list of all the options that are out there…not the actual coupons themselves. You need to go to the weekly ad posting and click on each link if you want the coupon. If you see RP or SS with a date following, that refers to a coupon that came in the Sunday paper (RP = Red Plum and SS = Smart Source).

The Healthy Choice coupon in the Tennessean was Buy a Healthy Choice Steamer, get a Healthy Choice soup FREE!!! And I had the Oct. All You, so…. I got 2 Steamers and 2 soups for $4! All in all, I spent $40 and saved $45 – which is good considering we're picky about our foods :)

I am new to using coupons but I am learning so much from Southern Savers, Jenny, and from all of your posts! I just had a question about doubling, I am not exactly sure what that means. I also had a question about the weekly ads and where you can make your grocery list, I see that their are printables linked to the manufacturers site but am having trouble finding the actual coupon. Thank you so much for your help!

Doubling at Publix means that if your store does it then any Q you have for %0 cents or less will be worth double what the face value is. You have a 50 cent off Q then you get $1 off. But not all areas double.

To make you rlist, check the box next to the products you want and when you get to the bottom of the list click on “Create List”. It will open in a new wndow with links to any printable Qs plus the list of insert Q's that Jenny has matched.

Usually Jenny links right to the correct page on a manufacturers site, sometimes you need to register in order to get Qs from them. Try scrolling around, they are usually labeled as either savings or promotions.

Depends on the store you are talking about and even then I believe it's a store by store basis. The Publix I shop at will take their coupons past the expiration date “within reason”…..a few weeks to a month yes, a year or ore no. But there are Publix stores in my local area that won't take expired coupons.

My publix was putting out new packages of Nestles cookie dough (ultimates with chocolate filling) and each package had a $1 peelie, net cost 44 cents each.

Check with the Atlanta Journal Constitution. I live in the Atlanta area, and get fabulous coupons in the Sunday edition. Not sure what you would get out there, though.

We live near Atlanta and we buy the AJC every Sunday morning on the way to Church. I honestly don't know where Harwell is – but we get the AJC at any gas station or Walmart or Kroger… But I get my best deals with the internet coupons. I hope that helps a little… :-/

Publix coupons don't normally beep so even if you gave the cashier a random coupon it would still go through. That said, you should only use the coupon for the item it's specified. I don't want to be mean but bodywash is bodywash not bar soap. People using the wrong coupons on purpose make the cashiers more hostile towards coupon users in general. Just sayin….
