This printer is awesome for coupons since it comes with a toner cartridge and can print 2000-4000 pages before needing more toner.  That’s a lot of coupons!

Go through Ebates and get 4% cash back.

Tip:  For many of you that ink is expensive, sometimes buying a new printer is a better option than continuing to live in an inkjet world of constant refills.

    I have one of these – great printer! But I would love to get a great price on a toner cartridge – I will need a new one eventually!

      It's just about as cheap to buy a new printer that has the toner cartridge for the $49.98 (less 4% by going through ebates) with free shipping than to buy a new toner cartridge. Give it a little while for this printer to be on the market and the price of the remanufactured toner cartridges will eventually drop to the $30 or so range.

    Thanks! Our computer guy at work said these were GREAT for printing LOTS of pages before you need another toner. I just ordered mine! Just in time, because I was about to need a $30 ink cartridge that will yield only 220 pages!!

    This model comes with a 'starter' toner cartridge. Says it will print about 700 pages, although you'll probably get more than that out of it. Staples sells toner cartridges for $47.00 for a yield of 1200 pages, but I found one on Amazon for $31.00. Also, it doesn't come with a USB cable so you'll need to purchase one unless you have a spare.
    While I was doing the research on this product I learned something else. HP laser printers toner cartridges are timed. No matter if there's toner left in their cartridges, once the time is up it will no longer work!

    Got it! Thanks so much, I've been waiting for this one to come around again! I'm so tired of having to replace the ink cartridges in my inkjet! Also, the stores are becoming pickier about the internet coupons. If they won't scan, they won't key them in. (Issues with photocoped coupons).

    I bought this printer last summer when it was on sale and it is great. I have saved SO much money on ink–it paid for itself in just a few months. However, the toner that came with the printer definitely did not last for 2000 pages. It was just a starter cartridge & lasted me about 3 weeks. I bought a “refurbished” (description said refurbished but it arrived still sealed in original packaging) high-yield replacement toner cartridge on Amazon.com for $29.00 which is now 5 months old and still going strong.

    I was excited to see this deal but before I jumped in with both feet I had to check the price of ink. Being burned too many times with great deals on printers to only find out the ink couldn't be refilled or was insanely expensive. That being said, check out bluedogink.com. The 1200 page refill is $28.99 and 2600 page reill is $42.99

    If anyone finds a better price please post it!

    Was the toner cartridge supposed to be for this printer or just for other ones? I couldn't find this one.

    I did, however, find that it might be possible to refill it…

        I tried this 2 minutes after Annette posted. It took the code and it was the exact price Annette paid. Then while the purchase was processing, my order came up with a “generic error”. It took me back to a previous screen where I had to re-enter the coupon code. When I did, the coupon code came up invalid. Bottom line, apparently Staples invalidated the code while I was ordering. Congrats to Annette for getting a great deal though!

    Watch out with this one, though – if you read the fine print on the specs on this printer, they are giving you a “starter” toner cartridge that only prints about 700 pages.

    I print my coupons in color. Do the stores typically accept coupons printed in black and white??? Around here, they would probably tell me that the black and white coupons are “copies” and not take them. That's why I print mine in color, which uses tons of inkjet ink. I'm tired of buying overpriced inkjet cartridges.

      I only have a black and white printer, and I have never had a problem using them at a store because of it.

      I always try to print my coupons using black and white (grayscale) when possible. I've never had a promblem with anyone accepting a black and white coupon. Each coupon usually has an individualized security code, so you could always point this out, if you are questioned. You will save a ton of money on ink. :)

      I also want wireless and while I was at Staples to buy this one, I saw the step up which is the Brother HL 2270DW, from what I can tell it has all the same features as the HL 2240 but is also wireless as well as automatic two sided printing. I know Office Depot has it on sale now for $89.99 and then I saw in the Staples ad starting tomorrow that it will be 89.99 there also. I could really save some money using both sides of the paper and then also save with the cost of replacement ink cartridges.

    if you find another deal on the toner please let me know. i missed out on the deal yesterday. also, this printer has a toner and a drum. can anyone explain? when i installed the toner/drum, it was all one piece. how does that work when you replace the toner. also, thanks for the tip on putting electrical tape over the “eye”. mine quit printing, and when i taped a small piece of a dark sticky note over the hole(had no electrical tape), it continues to print.

    From what I can tell, the link for the replacement toner is not the toner # that Staples lists as a supply for the printer. It lists TN-420 and TN-450. Will the TN-350 still work for this model?

    Thanks for this post! I got mine–using some Staples rewards that were about to expire and only paid 12.21 plus I used ebates!! $12 for a laser printer! I will take it. A nice Christmas present to myself!
