Get 80% off at Restaurant.com using promo code SAVE at checkout. Restaurant.com sells gift certificates that you can use at eateries all over the country. This code is good through Sunday, July 31st.

While these certificates really are for money off a larger purchase (so you do still have to spend money in the restaurant), they are still a great way to make eating out inexpensive. The nice thing is they never expire and if you ever have issues with a merchant they give you credit toward another certificate!

    I’m not a big fan of Restaurants.com. Their minimum order requirements are too high. Just now I did a look up and one of my favorite restaurants came up but has a $50 minimum purchase. I’ve never spent $50 there even when paying full price because their prices aren’t that high. I don’t understand the need for such high minimums at places with reasonable prices. If I had a large family to buy for it might make sense but for my husband and I it’s not practical.

      One of our favs, Delhi Palace, has that on their certificate, we just order our dinners and then order some to take home for later, we get four dinners and some mango lassis that way.  We didn't realize they add the tip on for you automatically the first time and ended up tipping way too much, but it was our first time there, and was so worth it anyhow.

    If you search through the restaurants in your area, you can usually find a good deal. Our latest was when we received a $25 restaurant.com certificate (free – when we got a family pass with Kidsbowlfree.com). We used it at a Mexican restaurant where the minimum total was only $35.

    So either my husband, our 17 year old, and I are all bowling free this summer or we got our meal mostly free – however you look at it we came out on top.

    Does anyone know if you can use several certificates at once? I can get $100 worth of Melting Pot certificates for $16.  Amazing.  But I want to make sure I can use them all to pay for the Big Dinner for 2 which is $88

      You can only use 1 certificate a month per restaurant (it states in the stipulations), and you have to purchase up to the amount of the certificate, so if it is 25 off of 50, then you order 50 worth and pay 25 + whatever tip percentage (if required on the certificate, generally 15-18%).  These are not like regular gift cards, these help make your meal cheaper or help you to try a new place for a nice discount.  This is nice in case you end up not liking it so much.. like the 360 Sports Bar and Grill here in Columbia that acted like nobody ever comes in for food and like we were putting them out by ordering food (they didn't have half of the menu items that were listed).   Generally when you click on one of the restaurants or choose on of the amounts available, it will give you the stipulations that go with that amount, like does not include alcohol, etc.  And remember, if you buy two for one restaurant and give one as a gift, the two of you cannot use your certificates in the same month, even if you are different people as you bought both of them with your created account.  They really are worth it as long as you follow the rules, we love them and are able to enjoy going out without breaking the bank!

    If you live in the Columbia area beware of buying a Zorba’s gift certificate.  I bought one this morning and then my husband and I took the kids to lunch thinking we would give them a nice lunch and save money too.  The owner of Zorba’s would not honor the gift card.  They said they had never made an agreement with Restaurant.com.  When we got home we called Restaurant.com and they said that Zorba’s does have a legal agreement with them and they credited our account with $50 toward gift certificates  Thank you Restaurant.com!  We also called Zorba’s and interestingly enough they now say the other owner did make the agreement with Restaurant.com.  Sounds like the two owners need to communicate!  They said they would call us back tomorrow.  We will see!  I guess the lesson I learned here is to show the gift card when I walk in the door and make sure they will honor it before I even sit down!

    So can I buy more than one certificate each month for different places? So confusing, my first certificate turned out to be a half off certificate, not the monetary amount described. No monetary amount really, just paid to buy the 50% off.

      You can buy as many as you want.  I wouldn't recommend more than 12 per restaurant as they expire one year from purchase date and you can only use one certificate per restaurant per month.  This includes if you give some to friends, make sure you and your friend do not try to use a certificate for the same restaurant in the same month as you purchased them with your account, so they will all be attached to you.  Some restaurants request a quick survey once you have used the certificate to help them better themselves for future visits.

        They don't have expiration dates any more.  They ended that practice several months ago.

    We are headed out of town and just bought 2 gift cert. for the restaurant downstairs in the hotel. So if it is July 30 and we are staying thru Aug. 3 and I use one on July 30 and one on another day- would that be considered one a month since it is a different calendar month?!?! Hoping it will work. Just glad to have the restaurant where we are staying listed.
