I price match almost every time I go to Wal-Mart. I have a spread sheet made with whats on sale & where it's on sale. They gave me a hard time out first b/c they tried to claim I needed the sales paper, but you don't.

One great thing about price match is Wal-Mart stock is A LOT LARGER than drug stores!

And allow stacking!!! Walmart only allows ONE coupon PER item!!! So frustrating!!! I live in a small town and the only two store I have that have newspaper circulars are Walmart and CVS!!! I hate to shop at Walmart, so I only price match if my favorite stores are sold out and I really need something (vs getting a raincheck at the store that has it on sale). However, I do agree with another comment that it is very convenient on Black Friday. Other stores like Best Buy, Target, & Toys R Us will have long lines and may sell out of their “doorbusters”. I go to Walmart with their ad, pick what I want up off the shelf ( noone else to “fight” for it since it isn't on sale there! ) and I am out the door. With electronics, you have to make sure that it is the exact same model and number, but I have had no problems since I make sure I do my homework before I go! Another tip, Walmart is open 24 hours, but if the sale doesn't start until 5 or 6 am in the ad you are matching, you must wait until that time. Hope that helps!

I ran into this issue at my Wal-Mart. The manager told me they could not price match because the product price was for the CVS rewards card. But their policy says they WILL price match, even if the competitor's price requires a card. I had a copy of Wal-Mart's coupon policy with me and pointed it out to the manager who then let me use it. If I price match at Wal-Mart, I always go in armed with their policy in writing since a lot of the employees will make you miss out on a deal.

Your local Sunday paper. SS means Smart Source along with the date of the newspaper the insert was in. RP mean Red Plum.

See Walmart's coupon policy. In theory you don't need the ad because the store should have the info, but not everyone knows the policy. So I'd carry the ads.

When I shop at my walmart, I don't have any problems with price matching. My walmart has a stand as you walk in the the door with the ads from the competitors stores. (Walgreens, Harveys, Publix, Winn D, Rite Aid, CVS).

I work for Walmart and I am looking a the associate's copy of the policy…”We do not require customers to have the advertisement with them to honor a competitor's advertisement. It is store management's responsibility to obtain all local competitor advertisements each week and have them available at the registers for easy reference.” I think the same policy is available on the website…always a good idea to print it out and have it with you!

Its the managements responsibility to have one copy at the store not on every register, that is easy for a csm to have. Besides where would they get that many adds weekly.

The store I work at purchases the papers from the Greenville News and keeps them at every other register in binders, so all cashers have access to them. The store I transferred from in Spartanburg was given the papers by the Spartanburg Herald Journal so that they had enough for all the registers.

No you should donate them to a military family. There were more Noxema coupons in the paper more recently so that have not expired.

I personally don't use expireds…I think it's like cheating BUT there are certain Walmart's that take them. Apparently, if it's like 2 weeks after the expiration date they'll take them but this varies and I think is completely up to the CSM.

I usually just donate my expireds to military families. They get special rules and I'm happy to do it. It's a very small part to help them out! :-)

I am NOT a fan of Wally World at all… They won't double coupons and the price matching can be tricky. I don't have too many stores to choose from to match with but I do know you MUST have the circular with you! You also need the right cashier… I'm going to stick to making my treck to Kroger!!!

I never have the circular with me. In fact, their own policy states you don't have to. When I get push back, I do show them their own policy! hehehe I know that's probably mean but I'm SO tired of being treated like a thief when I 1. give them coupons and 2. ask for a price match!

I ran into this problem with my Walmart.
1st, if you are price matching and wanting to use a competitor's coupon, they will not allow you to do both. If it's a competitor's coupon, they have to manually type the price in as an override. There for, according to them, they cannot price match AND use a competitor's coupon. (From what I understand, if it does not have the small barcode that they can just ring into the register, it has to be overriden as a price match.) 2nd-If you price match OR use a competitor's coupon and they have to do the override as described before, you CAN use a manufacturer coupon. Most certainly can! Although they depleted my spirits with the diaper match yesterday, they DID tell me that little bit of good news! Lol…hope this helps!

It can't hurt to try. I'm in Holly Springs and was wondering the same thing. At this Walmart they don't even know there own policy. I had a coupon for 1.00 off and the item was .98cents and they had to call a manager over b/c she didn't think I could use the coupon and no overage was allowed. Wasn't going to argue over 3cents.

Most Walmarts, at least in North Carolina, currently have 6 packs of various soda types for $1.50 each. My store has Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite and Sundrop (in Granite Falls, NC) and the store in Boone, NC had Pepsi products as well last time I was in there. It makes it cheaper to buy a flat of them than to buy 2 12-pks or a 24-pk. Although, some of the Pepsi 24 pks do have a $1 off peelie that makes it $5.98.

You can use the $1.00 off coupon even though it is .97cents. I have spoken to many managers, and have read the coupon policy for walmart. However, since they have been having so much trouble with coupon fraud some of the cashiers will tell you that you can't use it. If that happens just simply ask for a manager and they will approve it… Walmart gets the full amount from the manufacturer so they are not losing money… However, I have ran into a situation where the manager denied it at first, but then let me use it once they pulled up their policy… Hope this helps :)

I felt so good wandering the isles at Walmart picking out my items from the preprinted list today. Not everything was in stock, but I've come to expect that in the last few weeks of couponing. I was lucky enought to find 2 trial size Sensodyne, which I must have for my teeth, and 4 Cascade packages. I picked up a 1 Soy Sauce, but decided I didn't really need three.

All was smooth until I gave my coupons to the cashier with a smile. I didn't have a large stack and wasn't breaking any rules. Why was I left feeling I was doing something wrong by the cashier that read every detail of every coupon? It's frustrating to finally have a great trip and be left feeling because Walmart assumes my coupons might not be authentic.

I certainly won't stop getting my bargains at Walmart, but I'll need to prepare myself emotionally in the future.

Anyone find themselves with similar feelings or was this a fluke?

I felt horrible after going into my Walmart yesterday! Usually they are so awesome about price matching (ad-matching/whatever) but I went in to get the diaper deal matched that Babies R Us was having. I took a print out from the internet showing their diapers were on sale for $5. I told the cashier, she said that sounded fine, she would just have to get a CSM to “OK” the match. Needless to say, I walked to the register with my 14 packs of diapers and left with none! On top of that, the CSM was RUDE about it. She went and made a call and came back to tell me the sale was ONLY on the store brand diapers, which I knew for a fact was not ture. As soon as I left, I called my Babies R Us to verify they were participating in the sale, and then called the GM of Walmart and let him know I was not happy about being treated so rudely. I would have just gone to my Babies R Us, but it's 20 miles away, and the sales rep I talked to said their Huggies were all sold out =( Very sad day for Mommy yesterday!

The customer service at the Walmart in Simpsonville, SC has gotten absolutely horrible. I avoid it unless I need something right away that is not on sale anywhere else. There is one cashier in particular that is worse than all the rest, and I will stand in a massively long line to avoid her. When my fiancee and I bought a bottle of wine, she asked for both of our IDs. He had lost his wallet a couple of days before and didn't have his. Her response was “Well HOW convenient.” My fiancee is 43 years old and does NOT look like there's any possible chance he could be under 21. I also asked one of the store managers to help me find a product that they carried before the remodel, and his response was “Well if you don't see it, we don't have it.” and to walk away. I have not had problems using coupons or price matching, but the attitudes of the staff make me not want to go there at all.

Always happens to me at Wal-Mart!! They most always call the manager, and they read every word on the coupon.

I hate to say this, but cashier profiling is where it's at!! If you have a choice, look for young cashiers, typically in the 18 to 20 age range. Make sure they do not have someone training them because they may be new at the register. Guys are typically more easy going than girls. Just pays to pay attention to the cashier.

That is why I cashier profile. Try to find a woman under 30 (teenagers are the best) or any age man. I have used coupons for the same brand but a slightly different product and the cashiers I choose don't even look at them. They just scan them and if one beeps they override it.

I don't mind when they check the details of the coupons I'm using. I know I am not doing anything dishonest, but they don't know me. If they feel they need to check, that is fine as long as they are polite. If they are rude, or accuse me of doing something wrong, then it bothers me. Such as a cashier who insisted I need to bring the ad in for a price match when I just read their policy and the customer does not need to bring the ad in. She wasn't going to do it, but when I didn't back down on it she reluctantly did the price match, telling me I need to bring the ad in next time. The service at walmart has gotten really bad, in my opinion. They need to realize that these are hard economic times, and we have choices of where to spend our money. Some simple training of their cashiers of their own policies, and hiring polite people would retain the customers and profit that they are chasing out the door. I used to spend hundreds of dollars at walmart every month. Last month I spent less than 50 at walmart because its just easier to go to the store that has the sale, unless its one or two items, or the other store is out of stock. Nonetheless, their stores are always packed with people who think walmart is cheaper because they don't shop the sale ads. It is therefore unlikely that they will make any changes for the better.

The so called manager (Henry)said I was using too many coupons. .I had their coupn policy. I proved him wrong. He was very nasty to me. I do like walmart for some deals. I went there yesterday with my husband to pick up a couple things. We went to the Walmart on Abercorn, across from target in Savannah, GA. It was a very clean walmart. It even smelled wonderful. I was surprised. We bought 5 black flag fly swatters @ .98, and 1 Scott Extra Soft 12 count toilet paper @ 5.24. With 5 $1.00 off any black flag product, and 1 $1.00 Scott ExS 8 count of more coupon, we paid $4.14. With tax $4.85. I thought it was a good deal. Thank you for this website. by the way, there should be no concern over overage on a .97 or .98 item with a 1.00 off coupon. If it's priced that low, they must have gotten a deal on it, and have priced it to make a profit anyhow. They get paid the whole dollar, plus an .08 handling fee, making an already .08 additional profit for them, per coupon submitted. They are making money all around, and all we get is a measley .02 – .03 overage. I see no reason for anyone to complain about stealing, or ripping off the store. It's simple math.

same here but did take wal-greens ad into wal-mart and priced matched it. So I paid $2.99 for gain. Also, did the price match on the bounty paper towels and they told me that they could on match the $5.49 not the $4.49 cause she had no clue what it was. I explained it to her and told her that I have already priced matched at the other wal-mart and they did the $4.49. She says that they should of never gave it to me for that price. Nothing in the price match policy does it say that wal mart will not take price after rr. Showed the policy and still said no. Just read the policy again and they should price match after rr/eb.. Jill, sometimes they are hanging at the end of the Cascade isle…on the side of the endcap. That's where they are at my Wal-Mart. They also have a place for them on the shelf, but its usually empty.

I went to cs desk and she was kind enough to refund me for the soy sauce and for being charged wrong she price adjusted it to free. So do we get it for free if we get charged diff??? Corporate policy is that they adjust the price to the correct price, but some stores will do what yours did.

No store policy is they have to sell it to you at the price marked. I bought a dog crate priced at 50 on the shelves. The actual price rung up 84. I took the manager back and they shelf priced it then pulled the tag. If she gave it to you for free consider yourself the one time exception.

I went to walmart tonight and have to say not only was it one of my best trips it was one of the most pleasant ones. No one hovered over the coupons and integrated me about every little thing, like they were the coupon police. The manager who had to override it was very happy and up beat. And I walked out of there with $109.48 worth of stuff for a mere $12.36! =) Needless to say I will be returning tomorroow to use the rest of my P&G coupons for the freebies.
