I’m thinking a huge pot of chili so I can freeze in individual servings. l also make a batch of guac to put on top when I serve, along with cheese of course. Good alternative to soup on a chilly day.

Chili sounds great but with it being just me it would take me 6 months to eat a batch – LOL. At least the canned soup is a quick lunch item at a great price for the winter months.

The things I see are: .50 Zatarain’s and $1.79 chicken breasts.

I wouldn’t get the soups just yet. There will be someone selling them for $1.50 for the next 12 weeks. Some may get theirs down to $1.00 and for sure the coupons will likely get better.

Even though the ad is pretty crummy I’ll still be stopping by Kroger tomorrow. They regularly have manager special’s on bread, buns, baked goods and milk. These are items that are almost out of date and are usually 1/2 off or more. I buy up the bread and buns and put them in the freezer.

It really depends on when they restock. Often the restocking is done by a separate company. A friend of mine works for stocking bread for a particular company. She does it at Kroger and Wal-Mart in our town. I have found great manager specials on Mondays at my Kroger.

I found tear pads for $3/3 Kelloggs, Keebler, or Sunshine products (any combination) at Dollar General. I also found blinkies for buy 2 Kelloggs Crunchy Nut Cereal, get free milk up to $2.50. If this is included in the sale, you can get 6 boxes of cereal plus 3 gallons of milk for around $9.

And a question- I’ve just decided to switch from american imitation cheese to real cheese slices. Is the Kraft slices with a .50/1 q (=$1.50) a good price? Well, I guess I should ask first if the sliced is included in this sale. Is one brand easiest to the cheapest pricing on?

Got back from my last shopping trip from my Louisville Kroger for awhile. Today was the last day of the mega event sale which they ran for 2 wks straight. I saved so much & have a stockpile for a long time & can focus on cutting more coupons to be ready for their next mega event if I need to get anything. This last run I budgeted my bill for $250.00; I brought $100 cash with me - 83 items later b4 coupons bill was $239.40….$90.33 was my final bill after instant savings & Q’s. I also found several unexpected deals that had peelies on them which were part of the big sale – 62% & a big smile on my face – not to mention my oldest son helped me with the shopping trip. He got to pick out alot of the items which are very healthy, had fun & got a great lesson on saving more $$.

I tried to use an e-coupon on my kroger card and then one from the sunday paper. They would only let me use one or the other. Is there something I am doing wrong or is this a changed policy?

They quit letting you use e-coupons and manufacturer’s coupons on the same purchase about 3 months ago.

if you give them your coupons first then after they scan your coupons hand them your Kroger Card it works.

One or the other is not a choice given at most stores. The ecoupon deducts as soon as the item is scanned, then when you try the paper the register rejects it since multiple coupons are not allowed on one item.

does anyone here live in Kentucky? Louisville region? I went shopping at the mega event about a week ago, saved 38% after q’s and mega sales. Then I found this site! Wow! I was happy when I walked out of kroger $116 later, but initially the bill was $180. I am just starting, and I have had 2 shopping trips with q’s. Its hard work, but it seems to be paying off. Just wanted to join bandwagon!

I’m actually in southern IL but my sales always match up with the Louisville region. Sometimes we don’t get some of the free item sales but then again sometimes we get sales that they don’t further south. Happy couponing!

I live in owensboro kentucky area! the prices here(southern savers) are either a few cents more or less but very close! you can look at a ad and get a great idea but Kroger has so many unadvertised deals in the store! I actually get a better savings on the unadvertised! and I always go on the mega event not so much in between~but I always save 62 percent!!!!!! southern savers does a great job finding the unadvertised items before you go to the store! which is awesome!

I’m in Owensboro, too. Love Southern Savers! Dislike the Frederica Store and Love the Parrish Store. I will drive from the east side to the Parrish Store just to feel more at home. The manager on Frederica actually took my cart and kid’s blanky when we went to potty. After an hour of desperate searching for blanky, manager reveals he has my cart and q’s in the back office. He returned her blanky and q’s, but not my list. I then left. I am not a fan of his, to say the least.

I live in louisville and i ravaged the kroger mega event, got like 20 scope, 20 crest, 20 dawn, paid about 50cent for each…got 20 tooth brushes, i used the mega event, and then put coupons on top of them…

The only deal I saw this week, was $1.25 for a half gallon of chocolate milk. Unfortunately, when I got to my store, there was a sign on the milk door that said this was an error. So, if you planned to grab a great deal on chocolate milk, save your gas, it’s not on sale.

I freeze shredded cheese all the time with no problems. I’m not sure about sliced though.

What do you do when you take it out of the freezer? Do you have to use all of it up in a recipe or use it pretty quickly or is it okay in the fridge for a few days after taking it out of the freezer?

It’s fine in the fridge for several days. I usually pull it out and put it in the fridge to thaw and then use it like I would a bag I just bought (so it would be good for a week).

We freeze our cheese all the time.

I freeze cheese – both sliced and shred – all the time. I will say the individually wrapped Kraft slices don’t last long in the freezer – they get freezer burn within a month or so. Regular cheese freezes well – like the Kraft Big Slice or Sargento. The shred has the same issue with freezer burn so don’t leave it in the freezer for more than a month or so. Also, you can freeze deli sliced cheese as well – just make sure you have the plastic wrap they put between slices in there and then wrap it in plastic or was paper. Then you can use the vacuum bags like Ziploc or a food sealer and they last a while. HTH

Chris, I have had no problem freezing the Kraft slices – even for 4-5 months. I bought up quite a bit when Kraft had their big $5.00 off 5 promotion.

Wonder why mine didn’t last long then – they were awful when I thawed them out after a few months. Ended throwing the three I had out (one I thawed and two still in the freezer I had bought at the same time).

I’ve frozen shredded cheese before with no problem. Just used up the last of it from the last time Kroger had it in the mega sale for $.99. I’ve wondered about block cheese. Can an 8 or 16 oz block of cheese freeze well?

If you’re going to freeze block cheese make sure it’s vacuum sealed or place it in a vacuum bag or use a food sealer. If it comes in the cheesemaker’s wax (like a round or something) then you should remove the wax first. BTW – some freeze better than others – like muenster is OK but tends to stick together when you thaw it. Extra sharp cheddar tends to crumble after thawing. Swiss is the best – it holds up really well. HTH

Does anyone else’s kroger not allow them to use coupons on Manager Specials (the ones with the orange and yellow stickers on the product, not the red and white shelf tags)??

My Krogers in Raleigh, NC used to accept coupons for the Manager Special items, but not anymore. Another thing to miss along with not being able to stack electronic coupons and paper coupons.

My Kroger in Atlanta (near Midtown) used to allow coupons on Manager Special items but no longer does. I just noticed last week. I had a coupon for their salad brand (Fresh Express?) and bought a bag that was marked Manager Special. I gave the cashier my coupon but didn’t notice until later when looking at my receipt that coupon did not come off.

I have large packs of Twizzlers for 1.69 (regular price?) at kroger, matched with coupon mentioned above, and I got them for .69 each…going in my kindergartener’s goody bag for halloween (holla full size candy..I am that mom)!

Doesn’t Kroger have some sort of policy regarding incorrect signage or items scanning incorrectly? I have been a faithful Kroger shopper for a couple of years now and have never experienced a rude cashier, or any type of problem, until today. I was in the meat section buying boneless, skinless chicken breast and noticed a sign next to value packs of boneless, skinless chicken thighs that says “Kroger chicken thighs $1.19/lb”. I’m thinking it’s some sort of unadvertised deal and I grab 6 packs. The bone in, skin on are in a different section, no sale signage. I have no ad with me. I’m thinking I hit the jackpot. I get to the register, the cashier is rude. She’s fine with the coupons, but acts like I’m trying to steal the chicken and then complains out loud because I put plastic bags over each pack. Anyhow, she has the manager go back and check, and she calls the cashier and says, no, its the bone in that’s on sale. I have her take the meat off, finish my purchase, and ask the manager where the meat that was on sale was, because the only sign for chicken thighs is with the boneless. She looks flustered and says she’ll get someone to show me. I go back myself and they had removed the sale sign that was there 5 min. before and replaced it with something else, and still no sign on the bone in. I would have been fine if they would have just said the sign was in the wrong place, we can’t honor that, but they went behind my back, made me think I was crazy, and were completely sneaky and dishonest about it. I was so gobsmacked that I approached the manager, told her I couldn’t believe she had done that, and that the bone in that were supposedly on sale still weren’t signed and that I couldn’t believe how dishonest and lacking in integrity she had been, and then I left. I have called corporate and they are supposed to call me back. I guess I have just been lucky so far that I have an outstanding Walmart, Ingles, and until now Kroger to shop at. I’m just so disappointed, I feel like my child just lied to me or something!

I love what you said to the manager. Wish I had the guts to have done that when the Kroger Manager was a jerk to me.

Years ago, someone went to do a price check and ripped the label off the shelf and swore that it was never there. Since then I ALWAYS go with them to do a price check.

That has happened to me too. Never thought about going with them to the item. I have thought about taking a pic on my phone before when i thought the price was too good to be true. But I figured they would then question why I took it unless I was trying to “take advantage.”

Good for you — speaking up for yourself! I always follow the price checker to point out the signage and haven’t had trouble… luckily. Although on my last trip, plums were signed $.99/lb, but rang up $3.99/lb. CS only gave me back the difference without checking, saying another customer had the same problem. I questioned why I didn’t get the full amount back and he said produce was exempt from the price guarantee, then made no attempt to correct the signage. That seems lazy at best, unethical at worst!

Curious as to where you live because here in my town I have all but stopped shopping at Kroger altogether! More often they are rude and unwilling to help. Most of the workers in the aisle are trying to dodge the customers. It is a shame because this is closest store to us but unless it is just something I have to have last minute or its a great deal..I just don’t go.

According to the Red Baron e-coupon, it is only good for pizzas 26 oz. and over…. whereas the above info states it can be used up to 22.6 oz. I have not tried it… but beware, your e-coupon may not work unless you get the required weight.

Question for anyone that can answer. Can you mix and match the Kroger 10 for $10 items? For example..in this weeks ad Bush’s Beans, Hunts diced tomatoes, and Zatarains rice mix are all on sale for 10 for $10 but advertised in different sections.

Yes, they will just ring up $1 a piece. You don’t even have to buy 10. (You do have to buy the number of items they specify to get the discount when they have a mega event though.)

I just purchashed the Suave for Kids shampoo that was on sale for $1.49 this week. I used the B1G1 coupon from Sunday’s paper and they gave me credit for $3.50 coupon! Wish I would have had more. THis was in Myrtle Beach, SC.
