This week was a Kroger week for us.  It was also a small grocery heart break week.  I came home from a home school conference Saturday night to find my stand alone freezer door open and everything inside thawed.  It looked like it hadn’t been closed all the way, but was just enough that it couldn’t keep anything cold.  Three garbage bags later I said goodbye to my freezer stockpile of vegetables from the farmers market, meat, pizza and more.  I don’t even want to think of the retail value of everything.

At Kroger I grabbed the essentials for the week plus I splurged and got hashbrowns and sausage to make a breakfast casserole.  My girls are content with cereal for breakfast but lately my husband and I have been wanting more protein so this held us all week for breakfast.  The sausage wasn’t much of splurge really at 99¢ after coupons and we went house brand for the hashbrowns since nothing was on sale.

Kroger:
Total Before Sales & Coupons: $141.03
Total Spent: $76.14
Total Saved: $64.89 or 46%

I also ran out for ice cream at Bi-Lo to do a review, but they sent me coupons for the ice cream to be free so we won’t count that.  At least they helped me not have an entirely empty freezer…
