  • Shannon0503

Didn’t work for me either :(

  • Paige

It took a couple of minutes, but it worked for me. I did BARBIE and it just send me the code for the BBX.  Valid for 10 days.

  • Jasmine Chadmon

    worked for me!!

  • Maria

I was just on Blockbuster’s Web page (www.bbxtogo.com) and I noticed that the codes are part of an in-stock guarantee. IF the movie you want is not available at the kiosk where you want to rent it, there is a code that you can text (“KERMIT” for The Muppet Movie, etc). I do not feel comfortable using a code from this list since the intention is not to give away a free movie, but to guarantee stock of certain movies.

  • Pat

To the people who this worked for…did you send the text to 397-77, 397777, or 397 77.  I tried 397-77 and it said it was an invalid number.  I’m sure I’m doing something wrong.  Thanks for any help

    • Pat

Nevermind…I didn’t get it enough time.  Mine too about 10 min’s but they just sent it.  I used TOM.  I sent it to 397777 with no spaces.

  • Tylermcclatchy

only took a couple of seconds

  • Cathy

I got two codes because I didn’t wait a few minute before trying again after the first one didn’t immediately get texted to me.

  • Jaima

I used STREEP and it also worked

  • guest

Aren’t  these the codes they give for the in stock guarantee?  If so, isn’t it dishonest to use them if you have not in fact found the movie out of stock?

    • Sweetann76

Jenny, or others who have more knowledge.. could you please reply or comment on this.  I got a code, but don’t want to use it if these codes are given only for those who tried to rent a movie and it was not available.  Would love to see a response on this.  Thanks.

      • Paige

I also realized this when I went looking to get a movie.  The codes are in fact for the in stock guarantees.  The code I used was unavailable so I got the free code. If you check your kiosk, and there are movies unavailable, even online, it tells you to text the word to that number and then it gives you the free code.

    • Christie

If you think it’s Dishonest then you have that choice to not use it. My opinion though, Blockbuster Stores already went out of business and then they start charging  $3 for the movie at the box is crazy. I’d rather save my gas and get it on cable or not at all… RedBox is still $1(well at least last time I checked)… So if I can get a $3 code I’m going to use it… They have lost business by raising their Prices

      • guest

the in stock guarantee is something they do not have to offer, but it is a nice perk when you can’t find the movie you want. They will probably stop offering the promo when they see it is being abused.  I looked at their site and these are the codes listed for when specific movies are out of stock

    • Maria

I made a comment yesterday saying that I too was not comfortable using the code, but it never posted. These codes are indeed supposed to be for the in-stock guarantee. If you go to http://www.bbxtogo.com you can search for a kiosk near you and then search for the movies in that kiosk. The movies that they guarantee each have their own codes (“KERMIT” for The Muppet Movie, etc.) I suppose everyone can let their consciences be their guides, but I deleted the code that I had requested. I don’t think Blockbuster owes me anything.

  • neda

I got the code and rented tonight only 1$ showed up in the discount

  • Gmherndon

Yes mine was only for $1 also, but hey that’s better than nothing.  Thanks Jenny!

I used 3 of these codes today.  I had to rent each movie as a separate transaction but it worked!  I am going to text a few more and at this rate we will watch movies all week long!

  • rose

That is awesome that they have some $3 codes now. This is the first I have seen them, so the kids will be excited to use them. These codes are awesome for the kids because they love the experience of going out and picking up a movie where I don’t mind staying home and having them delivered to me. I get new releases without having to pay $3 every time I rent one and streaming is included. I love that I pay one flat fee for it all and I get what I want. A co-worker at DISH told me to try it out because she knows how I love my new releases and I am so happy she did. I will let the kids pick out a new movie with these codes.

Sadly, I do feel like this is taking advantage of the offer.  This, imo, is akin to using a coupon that you know is counterfeit, but not worrying about it unless you get caught.  I have always loved this site and Jenny’s workhops because there is a great deal of integrity involved in the way she teaches families to live better on less money.  Unfortunately, I think this tye of discount definitely breaks that code.

    • Traci0322

Also, I see that someone mentioned the brick and mortar Blockbuster stores going out of business.  If this kind of abuse continues on a large scale, the same will happen to the Blockbuster Express boxes…

    • Zeb

      agreed

  • andi330

Normally I love your site, because you work so hard to give ethical couponing advice. But I have to agree with other comments here. These codes all appear to be the codes for the In Stock Guarantee. They are meant to be used only if the movie associated with the code is not in stock at the kiosk where you are trying to rent a movie. It seems to me that if we abuse the system by using the codes even when the movies in question are available at the local kiosk, Blockbuster may decide to end the In Stock Guarantee. I couldn’t locate all of the codes on the Blockbuster Express site, but it may be that some of the films associated with codes above are no longer a part of the guarantee program (the titles cycle).

If you are getting other information from a source like Blockbuster that says that these codes are not a part of the In Stock Guarantee, could you please let us know? I want to make sure that I’m getting my best deal, but I also want, as I’m sure you do, to be as ethical as possible.
