2014 back to school price list

Stores are about to be flooded with Back To School Deals, many have already started the sales.  To help you save the most, here’s a price list of what to expect for certain items.   I know for most of you the school lists haven’t even come out yet… but you can’t afford to wait on most of these items!  With prices 70-80% off, it really doesn’t hurt to guess on somethings and grab items when they are a great price rather than paying top dollar in the last week before school starts.

The best overall are always the 1¢ sales at Staples and Office Depot/Max. They usually have a limit, but you definitely want to stock up on all of them. Remember that you can also price match many name brand (not store brand) deals at Walmart or Target. This can many times be the better option as they have a larger supply.

Also, if you don’t need school supplies… PLEASE consider donating them!  These are a huge need in every school and it is a great way to help kids start off the year on the right foot.

      Great list!

Will you also be posting sales for these items as you locate them? I love your sale posts especially for school supplies. I’m a new teacher and have three group homes and a “nephew” I will be purchasing supplies for this year. Already snagged the Staples 1 subject notebook deal. Thanks for everything.

Yes I will, any sales that pop up will be under the back to school category.

Where is the 1 cent items? I have looked all over for them and can’t seem to find them!

      • Olga

Office Depot/Office Max have some. I believe they are the cap erasers, index cards, and (paper) 2-pocket folders w/ or w/o prongs. You have to have a min $5 purchase to get these penny items. They also have a 5-pack of Sharpies, 24 ct binder clips, and mini staplers for $1 so you can get those to help you meet the $5 min.

        • frugalmomy

My Office Depot was already out of Sharpies and binder clips and teachers are held to the limit of 3 each. Since they didn’t have what I planned for my $5 minimum purchase I went on to Staples.

I would talk to management. Teachers usually are exempt from the limits.

            • Nicole

It usually is up to the district managers discretion, some are okay with giving teachers extra and some won’t budge simply because they want to ensure there is “enough to go around”

I just went to Office Depot yesterday and they told me teachers get 10x the limit. Later someone there said 3x the limit but they gave me the 10x. No one there seemed to know for sure exect the guy that said 10x the limit. Just know it may only be 3x.

this was last week but the mgr said to be on the look out for additional sales closer to school. Also, if you talk to a mgr and tell them you are a teacher, they usually double the 1cent deals. Good luck!!!

    • Olga

Toys R Us comes out with 4 packs of Crayola 24 ct crayons for $1 every year!

Staples is price matching competitors ads 110%

    • Meggan

      Where is this list for?

      • mrs b

        Meggan,
As Jenny stated “To help you save the most, here’s a price list of what to expect for certain items.”, which means this list is a guideline–don’t pay too much more than these prices as you stock up, and if you find it cheaper, definitely stock up.
        Hope that helps!

    • Nicole

Staples won’t be doing penny deals this year, they just lowered their prices on things like notebooks, folders, and composition books. Those sales should be going on through the end of back to school season. Office depot and office max have now officially merged so their adds are the same and all their penny deals come with the rule of having to spend $5 dollars. Remembered like Jenny stated that target, walmart and staples will price match on brand name items, so they can’t price match penny deals. Staples is price matching at 110% this year so it may be worth shopping there if you can! I’m a staples associate so we’ve been informed on all this info daily!
