Here are the top gifts for boys age 14-18 to help you out with your Christmas list this year.

What do you buy for a boy age 14-18?  They’re getting to be too cool for “toys”, so I go with sports, technology and things they can build with their hands.

Top Gifts for Boys 14-18:

get-it-hoops

Get it Hoops
retails for $19.99
This isn’t an ordinary over-the-door basketball hoop.  An action sensor rim records and keeps score like you’re on the floor.  It includes an app where you can share highlights with your friends.  The backboard is autographed by Dwyane Wade, so any of his fans will be sure to love it.  This isn’t a gift 14-18 year olds go seeking out, but all boys/men love a good over-the-door hoop.  This would be a fun gift for any guys going off to college so they could hang it in their dorm room.

ferris-wheel-building-set_600

K’Nex Revolution Ferris Wheel Building Set
retails for $34.99
If he likes building things, he’ll love K’Nex.  The motorized, rail-driven rotating Ferris Wheel can spin both clockwise and counterclockwise at two different speeds.  This is also for younger folks, so probably best at the younger age range.  I still would include it as an idea though because who doesn’t like to get something that they get to put together on Christmas Day.  This also brings in physics along with the construction.

game-of-phones

Game of Phones
currently on Amazon for $29.95
It’s hard to get kids this age off their phone.  If you can’t beat them, join them!  It’s like a scavenger hunt for your phone.  Each round the kids and their friends take turns judging each other on their googling abilities, photo snapping prowess, social clout and much more.  The cards prompt things like, “Find your best #selfie” or “Create an emoji masterpiece.”Game of phones has great reviews, but some parents do say you may want to go through the cards and pull out any inappropriate ones.

protable-table-tennis

Portable Table Tennis
currently on Amazon for $16.50
This set comes with two paddles, two balls and a retractable net.  If your kid loves ping pong, they can take this set with them anywhere they go and carry it in a handy pouch.

bow

Barnett Outdoors Team Realtree Banshee Quad Junior Compound Bow Archery Set
currently on Amazon for $36.82
If the kid on your list is wanting to try out archery, this is a great option.  It’s pretty inexpensive for a well-made bow.  The bow has 25 lb draw weight, a reinforced grip, finger rollers and two target arrows.

headphones

AELEC S350 Bluetooth Headsets Wireless In-Ear Sports Earbuds Sweatproof Earphones Noise Cancelling Headsets with Mic for Running Jogging
currently on Amazon for $22.99 (reg. $129.99)
New iPhones don’t come with a headphone jack, so it looks like we’re moving in the direction of bluetooth headphones.  If he’s a runner or likes working out (or just likes low-profile headphones, this is a great set.  Not only are they noise cancelling, but they’re sweatproof.  They come with a mic, so it will be easy for them to accept a call while they’re running.

 pocket-guitar

Andoer Portable Pocket Acoustic Guitar Practice Tool Gadget 6 String 4 Fret Model for Beginner
currently on Amazon for $15.99
This is a really cool portable practice guitar.  It’s the perfect size to fit anywhere on the go an it has 4 frets to make it a good tool for beginners.  If the teenager you’re buying for is already a guitar player, you can find larger models with more frets so he can improve his skills on a bigger scale.

brain-teaser

SiamMandalay Handmade & Organic 3D Brain Teaser Wooden Puzzle
retails for $12.99
Here’s a great stocking stuffer for the kids who love brain teasers.  This is a high-quality puzzle to get kids away from screens.  I have a feeling it will get passed around on Christmas day and get the whole family involved.

vr-headset

Samsung Virtual Reality Headset
currently $53.99 on Amazon
Virtual reality is all the rage right now.  Slip on the headset with your Samsung phone inside and the transported to another place (you can literally be anywhere in the world).  You can watch Hollywood’s top movies, play games and more.  The set is lightweight and has a touch screen that’s easy to use.  It’s compatible with most sets of glasses.

spikeball-set

Spikeball Set
currently on Amazon for $59.99
This game has invaded college campuses and church retreats. If your son hasn’t already played, he is guaranteed to love it! The game is easy to set up and everything fits into a bag so you won’t lose any pieces.
