There are a few things to mention from the Aldi Sunday Ad.  Remember in general most items at Aldi can be purchased in other places cheaper, by buying national brands on sale and using coupons.

Aldi does not accept any coupons.  You will also have to pay with Cash, or Debit Card.  Bring your own grocery bags too or else you will need to find a box in the store or pay for bags.

The Deals

Smithfield Smoked Ham Butt Portion 99¢ lb

Smithfield Smoked Ham Shank Portion 79¢ lb

White Bread 20 oz. loaf 79¢ ea

Sweet Potatoes 3 lb bag 75¢ ea (makes it 25¢ lb!)

Del Monte Gold Pineapple 99¢ ea

Cranberries 12 oz. bag 99¢ ea

Aldi can be a good place to get Dairy items as well.  While they are not “on sale” the regular price is still lower than most stores.  Go here to find a store near you.

What’s Not a Deal?

Butterball Turkey, frozen 99¢ lb
(same price at Kroger this week)

Butterball Fresh Turkey $1.39 lb
($1.19 lb at Kroger this week)

Better buy at Kroger either way since you can use:
-$2 off any Butterball Turkey printable

Their canned beans (kidney, black) and the tomato sauce cans are the best prices around, and the quality is just fine.

The bread is a little too ‘fluffy’ for my taste on the white bread, and the english muffins and hot dog rolls etc are stale a lot of the time.

The produce is usually the best in town, I always get my zucchini, onions, potatoes etc. there. So that and milk are the reasons I try to get over there every few weeks even though there isn’t one in my town.

    • Maria

Our Aldi has fresh pineapples for .99, too.

    • Sean

Can you price match the ad to WalMart and then use the coupon on the Butterball Turkey?

      • Jenny

        You could! Good idea!!

        • Lynn

You can price match the pineapple at Walmart, too. I’m a Walmart cashier.

    • Mina

Aldi does not accept checks. It is cash or debit card only.

It’s a fine store to fall back on if you really need something *now* and it’s not on sale at major stores. Their black olives are better than the Lindsey olives that go on sale at stores.

The breads are lifeless in taste and texture, and never seem fresh, even when just bought.

Their regular meat prices look good for being regular prices, but none of it is packaged in store. Like at Walmart, it comes pre-packaged and blasted with carbon monoxide to make it appear fresh, no matter what the real condition.

The produce section is pretty good on price, with moderate quality. The turnover rate in that dept. is quick, too.

I really like Aldi for the milk $1.69, eggs $0.88 doz, Apples (Green or red) 3 lbs $1.29…The produce is pretty good, kids love the bananas! The bread is horrible!!! If you fold a piece on a hotdog, it will break right in half!!

      Happy shopping all!!

    • I like Aldi’s. I think I do better on most items with coupon at Kroger for instance.(however not as good as publix bogo with 2 qs)

I actually hardly go to Kroger anymore because of the Aldi’s that opened up.

PS I did a pricebook and it does beat the after coupon price at Kroger in my opinion.

I don’t have the exact prices, these are off the top of my head

      frozen oj cans .99
      mayonnaise 1.79
      vanilla 1.99
      white corn tortilla chips .99
      potato chips 1.29
      bananas .39lb
pineapples. 99 (slightly smaller than store)
      tortillas .99
      oatmeal 42oz for 1.69
      grits 24oz .99

      • PS I don’t like some of their produce and some of their ground beef or their bread products.

PPS Good prices on frozen veggies if you don’t have coupons .89 a pound every week.
That’s 10 cent cheaper than the sale price at kroger or publix.

I’ve heard their spiral honey sliced ham is great and they reduced the price from $1.49 lb to $1.29 this week!

      • Jenni

What location is this Aldi? That is a good price for spiral ham.

Lately, I’ve not had to shop at Aldi for nearly anything except eggs, hot dogs, honey grahams, tortilla chips, etc. And I agree with everyone else – their bread is terrible! There is more air than bread in each bag! But those powered sugar donuts are cheap and yummy. One of the few baked goods there that is priced right AND worth the money.

          The Nashville area Aldis.
