We are getting an Aldi nearby and I’m wondering what the perks are to shopping there? If you can’t use coupons, do you just look for certain prices and buy only if it’s at or below the price?

      • Staci_marie

I don’t do alot of shopping at Aldi – but do buy meat, veggies from time to time.  Since they avoid alot of the overhead costs of running a store, they have lower prices.

Need to get in today or Thursday and buy chicken & ground beef.

      • Lab-15

they have good prices on fresh produce. Also, there regular price is about the same as sale prices at other places so if you don’t have Q’s or need something last minute it beats going to other stores and paying regular price (or even some sale prices)!

        • AD

They also have some products that are almost always cheaper than what one would find in the grocery store, even with coupons.  These include some of their wines, their salmon cakes and other seafood.  Their chocolates are the best you’ll get for the price, coupons or not.

      • wendy

I go in for the fresh veggies – often their prices are much better than my local grocery stores.  Other items are hit and miss.  For me, I don’t mind shopping at two stores, as Aldi is virtually across the street from Publix in my area.

    • Dee

Our Aldi has milk for 1.99 a gallon and eggs for .69  I also get white wheat bread for 1.29.  It is hard to beat those prices

      • AmyD

My Aldi, milk is 3.19 a gallon and eggs 1.69 a dozen and bread is same price. Your lucky to have those prices.

      • Homeschoolmommy3

Here, too, on the milk!  Couldn’t believe it!  And butter is MUCH better.  Otherwise, I have to really watch the prices.  Some are very good and some just so-so.  Oh, frozen tilapia is VERY good too.

    • Clipper

Why the coupon match ups??  My Aldi’s don’t take coupons.  Are there some that do?

      • Arctic2003

No, they do not take coupons.

      • guest

Jenny posts the coupon match ups for those wanting to price match at places that will take coupons.  HTH

      • Yuyu

You can match the prices at Walmart and use coupon there.

      • margaret

it is in case you want to price match at walmart or target

    • Tala

From time to time i am buying vegetables. Today I bougth Mashrooms 8 oz- $0.39 each ( i haven’t seen this kind of price), baby carrots $0.89 for 1 pound, $0.69 celery, $0.59 avocado. Last week theat had strawberries 16 oz for $0.99

    • Kcgardner

got 8 rack of ribs for $2.00 each tonight cause going out of date soon (stuck them in the freezer)!

    • Jbpersson

I cannot find any of these produce deals listed in our weekly ad in NC. Is there another way to look up items to get these deals. I would love to price match if these are indeed are local price on berries.

      • Tinasmile

I am in Charlotte. The strawberries where $1.39 and the blueberries are $1.49.

      • Nonnie Mouse

None were listed in my store last week, but around two thirds of the produce Jenny listed on here were the same (or better!) price here in KY. Sometimes their electronic flier has better pricing info than the local print. Check there.

    • Praizleader

I didn’t think that Aldi took coupons??

Milk, butter, dried cranberries…. these are hugely cheaper at Aldi’s and milk and butter rarely are “coupon-y”.   You just really have to know your prices.  Also, if you don’t have a coupon (or if, as I run into a lot, MY SS doesn’t have the coupons it should??) or are in a pinch and just have to run in somewhere, Aldis is a good bet.

      • Aldis is a good idea if you need a few items quickly.  It would be really nice if they accepted coupons, though.

    • Orchiddreams27

I spoke to the manager at our new Aldi and they do not take coupons. He said only if it’s an Aldi Q. Anyone actually used Qs there? I’m in south Miami-Dade area.
