My Aldi has blueberries for 50 cents a pint.

      • Andiemcdougal

Sue, this week or with the new ad? That’s a great price! Where are you located?

        • Sue

This was Monday afternoon.  The lady stocking the produce section said the price would change after the pallet of blueberries was sold.  She did not know what the new $$$ would be.  On another note bags of oranges (not navel), mangos and avacados are all priced 99 cents each.  The mangos were green and the avacados were very ripe.

I have never shopped at Aldi.  I have heard it is a great place to get product.  What about meat/poultry?  Any good/bad experiences?

      • PamAlabam

I like Aldi a lot.  My usual plan is to go every two weeks and stock up on the things I use.  Most of my other groceries are Publix BOGOF and Kroger specials…works good for me. Aldi doesn’t have everything.  Example-they only carry the 2-3 most common pasta types, so no lasagna noodles.  As for produce..they do have good prices and will occasionally have crazy low prices.  As to quality..our store has pretty good quality but some things are often way  under-ripe.  I think we must be first on the delivery route or something.  I seem to be rambling here, lol.  Anyway–yes, Aldi is a good place to shop.  There are a few things they have that I don’t like but I can say that about any grocery store.

I love Aldi for the produce and red wine.  I generally stay away from the meat, mostly because it looks to be of poor quality.  I’m not saying it necessarily IS poor quality, it just doesn’t look good to me and I’d rather buy what I know to be top quality when it comes to meat.  I figure that Jenny helps me save so much money in other areas, I’m able to buy the best quality meat I can.

The ground beef at Aldis is as good as any we have found. It is in a tray sealed (not just wrapped) with very thick plastic on top (maybe that’s why it stays so fresh. Their regular price beats any regular price we have found – and ground beef is not on sale very often these days.

Thank you for your comment.  I’ve always wondered but been leary.  I love my Aldi’s!

Without question, unless someone is having a “dy no mite” sale, Aldi’s where I live has always had the best produce prices and their produce is always fresh and wonderful. I have found that the boneless/skinless chicken breasts are the best I’ve had. Ingles, BiLo, Sam’s…NO ONE has better B/S chicken breasts. Everyone else’s are rubbery.. I’ve not bought fresh meats at Aldi’s so I can’t tell you or advise you either way. I’ve only purchased 2 items from Aldi that that I was NOT satisfied / very pleased with and those items are Alfredo sauce (YUK!) and the deodorant. (I sweated and stunk) That being said, I’ll tell you I’ve been a faithful Aldi shopper for 10 years and will continue to be. It’s a small store, ours is always clean and it’s my store of choice if there are no coupons/B1G1 at the other stores.

I like most produce that I buy from Aldi. But I have had some strange tasting cantaloupes and pineapples. They tasted old and moldy, but didn’t look bad. I know that is an odd description. But examine them carefully.

      •  Last week our Aldi’s had fresh blueberries for .50 and they were awesome.  Bought 8 containers and froze them. Wish I had bought more because that is about the price you pay for a rinky dink bag of frozen blueberries.  I like their fresh chicken breasts – get them on sale for $1.99/lb.  And sometimes they will have them on Wednesday only for $1.69.  They have some great deals on other produce too.  I also get their 2 lb. bag of frozen tilapia filets.  It is a great price!  And they are the only place I have been able to find fruit snacks for my little boy that do not have a lot of added chemicals and red dye.  The price on those is great too!!  I usually do couponing at Publix, Ingles and Bilo, so I would not get all my groceries at Aldi, just things that are a great price that I can’t get cheaper somewhere else with coupon matchups and sales.

Banana’s cheaper in Harris Teeter this week $.39 per pound.
