aldi changesHeads up Aldi shoppers! Rumors have it that some Aldi stores are now accepting credit cards! These cards would include Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover cards. Check with your local store manager to verify.

Also, in case you haven’t heard, Aldi is expanding their selection of gluten-free products, fresh and organic meat and produce. This includes the “Never Any!” brand of meats that contain no added antibiotics, hormones, animal by-products.

If you know anything about Aldi, you know about their impressive meat and produce prices, so this is some fun news!

Check out this week’s Aldi ad.

Just mentioned this post to my husband and he said that when he was in Aldi on Saturday he asked if it was all Aldi stores and they said yes.

We pay our balance in full every month. With all the rewards and fraudulent use if someone gets your debit card number it is just a smart choice.

      • SueH

I, too, pay my full balance every month. I now have enough points to pay for a cruise. This is from buying groceries, gas, and other essentials that I was gonna buy anyway.

You can–and should–use your debit card as a credit card. It’s safer.

I carry my debit card in a metal case so no one can rip it off me if they have a scanner. They also make wallets that protect against that. I know that there are other ways for debits to get stolen but when it happened to me, my debit card had not left my purse, and I only use credit for online purchases. If it ever happens to me again I’ll start using credit only like some else here mentioned.

Gas pumps are a really dangerous place to use a debit card as it is easy for crooks to pull in and attach a skimmer that collects numbers. When my card was compromised the bank employee told me that there is NO safe place to use a debit card and he would not even use one in their ATM! We are through with debit cards. Almost everyone I talked to in the process of getting our money back, which took 4 months, said it had happened to them, too.

My husband and I went to Mexico using her ATM card to avoid any fees and 2 weeks later found that $700 was stolen from our acct. thankfully my husband caught it within the 3 day window so we got it all back within 2 weeks from the bank (criminal never found) but if he had waited snigger day we would have been responsible for 1/3 of the stolen amount. So I am happy Aldi is accepting cc’s!

        Wow…ignore those typos!

Be careful with any card you have or use especially at a resturant. I used my card at one resturant in Charlotte NC. The server took her cell phone and took a picture of the back and front of the card. It was sold in the islands and made its way to England where they used it for over 15,000. Luckily my bank caught it and the fraud department called me while I was in another state. All monies were refunded. Per the bank it happened all over the city. I only use my Discover card for all purchases in the month and pay it in full when the bill comes and on top of that get all types of rewards.
