When I started the All You Food Drive last week I thought we would pick a food bank every month.  I am shocked to log in today and see how much has already been raised.

First what in the world am I talking about??  Currently you can get a great deal on All You Magazine, 2 years or 24 issues for $20.  This is the best price I can find anywhere.  But the best part is that every subscription ordered earns $8 for charity!

So how much has been raised?

$10,450

It’s mind blowing really.

second-harvest-food-bank

I also planned on making this a giveaway basically where you guys chose the food bank each month.  However I have made the decision for us this time.  I think we would all agree there is only one option here.  So this money will be sent to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee.

The All You deal and charity drive will continue indefinitely.  Barring natural disasters that bring me tears you guys will get a chance to pick next month.

      thank you!
you would not believe what we are seeing here on a daily basis….words & pictures cannot even begin to describe.
so far our family & home has been safe…just blocks away houses are almost completely under water.
thank you, thank you , thank you!

    • jkjjhuddle

WOW. What an amazing amount raised already! I am placing my order today. Thank you for this opportunity for us to give back and you could not have picked a more perfect place!

    • miatd

you are amazing jenn and the state of tn thanks you for this…

    • JenniferH.

That's so great, Jenny. Thank you from Middle TN — although I have not lost anything, I know many who have. This will be a great blessing to Second Harvest and the people they serve. Thank you.

    • colleenneel

Yes, thank you from Nashville! We are on a hill so safe but so many are not… it's been insane.

    • MillerLicht

Nashville thanks you! Many of my students have lost everything in the flood!

    • Awesome! I will be ordering again for gifts for friends and family!

    • kristie12

Middle Tennesee thanks you. It has been an amazing couple of days so far and even though my damage is small in comparison to others here it has been a struggle. We all thank you so much for seeing the need and sending this money to the place who needs it most now. What a blessing this is for all of us here in middle TN.

    • Stacey

Thank you so much! Thankfully I was not affected by the flooding, but many people near me were.

    • kensrobin

Thank you so much! What a ray of sunshine in my day! I am right now scrambling to find resources for my graduate students who were flooded out of their apartments this weekend. They are in the midst of finals week, displaced, and stressed. Thank you for remembering our Nashville community!

      • tcpanz

I was just thinking that we might be about to help even more if you wanted to share some specific needs and an address to send them to. I don't stockpile much because all my extra goes to the local food bank but I just did the Nivea body wash deal at CVS. I could share some of those. I don't know if that is even realistic but I was thinking that you might could use your church as a donation point so you don't have to post your own address on the web. It is something to think about. I will check back to see if this is something you think would work. God Bless

        • kensrobin

I am fairly certain that my students are taken care of this evening. Classmates have shared their homes, their food, their resources with each other. Most of them were headed back to their apartments for the first time this evening, expecting only minor damage. Two students lost their cars, but should be covered by insurance. I have yet to hear from all of the ones who are on rotations around the state.

I checked, and most organizations are only taking monetary donations at this point, but I know for many of us, our stockpiles are the only “wiggle room” we have in our budgets. I found that the local Salvation Army is looking for donations of: socks, underwear, t-shirts, hygeine supplies, paper products, and cleaning supplies. The address for the local dropoff location is: Madison Citadel Corps, 425 Neelys Bend Road, Madison, TN 37115.

          Thanks so much! — Robin

      • susansaver

I am a grad student at Vandy (finished with coursework so no finals stress here). Please let me know if there's anything I can do to help.

    • kratie00

Thank you so much. We we fortunate to be spared but there are so many that were not this gift will be invaluable…

    • Molliec

Jenny, I love your heart! When you first posted this offer, I decided against it because I already had one subscription. But, when I read this today and saw how much you had already raised, I felt the need to order 2 more as gifts. You truly are a shining example of giving to others and that just makes my day…Thank you for being you!!

      • marybeth

well, “she” hadn't really raised it, everyone who ordered a subscription raised it! I am ordering one now too. I had hesitated because blogs like this make SOOOO much money (some similar blogs brag they make six or even seven figures!), and I always wondered if there was some financial incentives for the blog owners for deals such as this.

        • Angel_in_Charleston

Good thing most people do not share your poor attitude, Marybeth. Whatever money Jenny makes, she deserves ten-fold! She helps many, many people and does more good than you could possibly know. Shame on you for posting such a negative comment!

Jenny, you rock! I, along with most others, greatly appreciate all you do for us!

          • Molliec

I agree!! As you can see from my original comment that Marybeth responded to, I do think jenny is responsible for the large amount of money raised. Without the mention on her blog, and all of the hard work she puts in, that amount would not have been the same! I am sorry there are people who don't feel the same.

            • I'm sure Jenny would agree that she couldn't do it without the readers who are purchasing the subscriptions :) Unless she really is making 6 figures from her blog, then maybe she could just right a check for $10,000+ ;)

It is awesome for her to choose to make donations, and to be willing to use her audience for a greater good :)

            • marybeth

Oh, I wasn't saying that I don't feel the same way. I was pointing out that really it is the readers who ordered the subscriptions who raised it! (which Jenny agreed with). Every person who ordered a subscription should feel proud, as THEY raised that money!

Yes, it would not have happened without Jenny. AND, it would not have happened without the readers. I totally agree with Crystal's comment below- it's awesome she uses her audience to raise money and awareness for the greater good!

          • She came here sharing her concerns in a respectful way and even stated that she is ordering the subscription. She didn't deserve your flaming.

          • marybeth

Angel, clearly you are the one with the poor attitude. I agree Jenny does tons of good! I am appreciative and thankful for her blog. I did not state anything that demonstrates a “poor attitude” or a negative comment; I merely voiced a concern I had in a respectful way. You, however, did not respond very respectfully to me. Your comments to me are rude and hurtful. There was absolutely no need to flame me.

On the page where you go to sign up for the all you subscription it says that subscribing “benefits southern savers,” so I was confused by what that meant when I first read it. I was very pleased to read Jenny's reply that there is no financial incentive for her and that all proceeds she receives do go straight to the food bank. (Thanks Jenny for the reply. I hope that cleared up any concerns others may have too.)

            Yes, Jenny does rock :)

            • Angel_in_Charleston

Sincere apologies! Apparently I misunderstood your message. It seemed you were being disrespectful of Jenny, and I took offense to that because she has been such a big help to my family. I certainly did not mean to “flame” you. No harm intended … sorry!

          • rob

You need to learn that people can express concerns or opinions that you may not agree with, and it doesn't mean you need to attack them. Telling someone “shame on you” or saying that they have a poor attitude because they voice a concern or question in a way you don't agree with really is not a kind way to respond to people.

        • You are soright this is all because of your orders!! No financial incentive here though (if anything my husband would love for me to never post about All You it just increases my email workload 10 fold with folks that have problems ordering or getting it…)

    • Michelle

I think that is a great idea!

    • momofgr8kidz

Wow! That's wonderful. It shows how one person can make a difference. Thank you for doing this. Middle Tennessee can really use it right now too. THANK YOU!

    • That's amazing! And so glad it's going to the TN.

    • julieyant

Thanks so much! I participated in this offer and am so thankful you're donating to my city at this time. We are grateful for all your thoughts, prayers and now donations!!

    • Karen

That's super Jenny. Great to see it going to TN

    • I still haven't received my subscription for the last all you promo you posted, and yes my credit card was charged

      • Email me your name and info and I'll pass it on to the folks that ran it.

    • Jessica

Like so many others from the Nashville and Middle TN area, Thank You! There are so many who have lost everything and I am so thankful to those who are willing to help. Second Harvest and the Red Cross can both use any donations you can send their way.

    • Jaime

Excellent decision! I am origianlly from N. Alabama and know so very many people who now live in Nashville. The stories I am hearing are just beyond belief. So wonderful that my coupon addiction can also help someone else. Thanks for doing this!

    • susansaver

As someone living in Nashville, I can't thank you enough Jenny! This money will definitely be put to good use and I'm going to sign-up for an All You subscription right now to add to the growing total of money to donate!

    • cdhicks99

I am wondering if anyone has heard of an organization that is taking items such as body wash, toothpaste, etc in the Middle Tennessee area. There are so many of us who get “free” stuff every week and those things would make for great donations. I know people still have to keep themselves clean and their clothes clean, the last thing they need to worry about is purchasing the items out of pocket right now! Please let me know if anyone has any information.

      • Tara

Graceworks ministries in Franklin TN is accepting items like those (got an email yesterday from them). Go to http://www.graceworksministries.net for details.

      • cyoung

I was wondering the same thing! I wonder if there's someone in Davidson that will be distributing these items, Graceworks is Williamson. Which is fine, but I live in Davidson and I'd like to help my county out if possible.

    • kristin

Graceworks Ministries in Franklin, TN is working in conjunction with the Red Cross to distribute donations. Their website is http://www.graceworkministries.net

    • nanaof nine

As a resident of Middle Tennessee, I want to thank you so much!
I signed up for the All You subscription last week never knowing that my own area would be in need of so much help. This is such a wonderful, caring thing to do for those who have been so unfortunate.

    • Jenny,

      THANK YOU!!!!

From a middle Tennessean flood survivor

    • Gina

      Thats wonderful!!

    • Carrie

Thank you so much! Carrie, RN – Nashville

    • alishaM

Thank you so much! I work with Second Harvest quite a bit through my employer..they are great folks. What a devistation. Much appreciated!!! Alisha, BSW Nashville.

    • rachelsouliere

Thanks so much for helping our community, this is so surreal here.

    • Ashley

As a middle Tennessean – thanks from all of my neighbors for your donations. It's devastating here.

    • Marie

Jenny, I have a subscription to All You already. If I order again, will it send me two now or will it just extend my subscription?

      • If you use the same info it should add to your subscription time, if you use a different name it should send you 2.

    • Jenni

THAT IS AWESOME! And what a great, timely choice of where to send it!

    • kelleyharold

Thank you so much for choosing Middle TN. I have many friends there (I am in East TN now). It is devastating, and many of those affected are also frustrated that there has not been much coverage nationally about it. I know your donation will be greatly appreciated. In the past few weeks I just bought a subscription. Do you know if they would extend that one or just send me 2 copies? I'm also considering buying some gift subscriptions like another person posted. Thanks for all you do!

    • Hadley

wow! that's great! I got the double subscription to All You and Cooking Light – one for me and one for my sister in law! We both just started Weight Watchers and she just started couponing (she was lucky enough to attend your class in Statesboro, GA recently!). So glad to get a great deal AND help people who need it. I think you made a great choice!

    • emily0780

Great choice! My heart goes out to the people in Tennessee – Nashville is one of my family's favorite “quick vacation” destinations – the people there are great!

    • Rita

Thanks Jenny. I got a subscription, and as a middle Tennessean we appreciate your choosing us. We need so much help here. Thanks for all you do, but especially this.

    • JL

Thankyou from Nashville. We are not getting the National news coverage that I think this devestaion calls fro so thankyou for this. Also for fellow Nashville Southern Savers Harris Teeter on West End and Kenner is giving away free flood relief drinking water. They all might be doing it but that is where I went today. We are on a emergency water conservation. So this really going to help.

    • Ashley

Great choice Jenny! I am so happy to hear about how much money has been raised!

    • Julie

Jenny, thank you so much for this. I live here in Middle Tennessee (Murfreesboro) and the devastation is unbelievable. I know it will go a long way to help all those that have lost absolutely everything.

    • christa

Jenny, I am truly touched by this donation!!! Thank you from everyone in the Mid-Tn area! It is wonderful to see someone care!

    • wrw1852

Wow, Jenny–that's incredible! As someone local to Nashville, thank you SO much! I have been to Second Harvest–they are an incredible organization, and I'm sure they will put your donation to great use. Thanks again!!

    • luvcoupons

Thank you from Middle Tennessee!!!!!!! It has been a long couple of days but it is encouraging to see the compasssion.

    • Dixie

Thank you so much for choosing Middle Tennessee–we fared well, but so many are devastated! Thanks so much!

    • Andrea

You rock! I love to support people who “do good”.

    • Nancy

When Katrina hit. My small town adopted another small town in the area affected by Katrina. and sponsored it for two years. Every holiday we sent gifts. Loaded them on a tractor trailer and drove down to the town. Then the mayor of that town organized the relief effort so everyone was able to get on their feet faster. We did not wait for government to tell us. We just did it.
Something to think about for other churches or towns to adopted another town or church of people to help.

    • Sarah D

thank you for picking Middle TN to help out – they are really in need right now. I just got home from the Nashville area after taking care of a granddaughter and let me tell you, there are SO MANY people out of their homes and businesses. many of the roads in rural and suburban communities are impassable or washed out. Thank you….

    • Thanks for all you do on your blog and thanks for choosing Nashville, we need all the help we can get!
