amazon primeHeads up Amazon Prime members! Amazon has just announced that Prime members will be able to get 30-minute early access to Lightning Deals!

This means that, as a Prime member, you’ll have the opportunity to buy time-sensitive items (that usually sell out very quickly) before non-Prime members ever see them. This will be an added benefit at all times, but will be especially useful when buying gifts during the upcoming holiday season.

Here are the current Prime benefits:

1. FREE 2-day shipping on 20 million eligible items.
2. Unlimited music streaming on over a million songs.
3. Unlimited movies and TV shows with Instant Video.
4. Access to over 500,000 eBooks with (1) FREE rental per month.
5. 30-minute early access to Lightning Deals.

You can try Prime for FREE with their 30-day trial. After your trial is over, Prime is $99 per year.

On a personal note, becoming a Prime member has totally been worth it. It averages out to be $8.25 per month and that, to me, is worth it simply for the free shipping.

Kinda sad. Looks like they are trying to find ways to increase their bottom line. I’m not paying to shop and I think they’ll find most of us won’t. Too bad, I guess this is a win for Walmart and other retailers that are having a hard time competing with Amazon. Amazon, I loved you much, but it looks like we might have to break up since most of your really good deals don’t last 30 minutes so there will be nothing left for me, the regular shopper. :)

I agree. Now that the price of Prime is going up, I will not be renewing. And a percentage of the time, my items do not arrive on time, and it makes me wonder what I pay for! Ridiculous. I loved them, too, but it is time to break up, as you said :)

Nice little perk, but they’ll have to up their game quite a bit for me to renew my subscription next year. I don’t buy much from them anymore and can wait until I have a $35 order to get shipping free. I can stream unlimited music from Pandora and don’t listen to music much anyway. Netflix has a much better library for viewing–at least of the stuff I watch. Don’t have time to read books, but if they added lots of good audio books then I might be convinced to renew. I’ve actually been regretting renewing at the $99 price tag this year.

I find Prime membership is worth it just for the streaming. I’ve really enjoyed using that alongside Hulu Plus and Netflix. Add an antenna, and it’s a heck of a lot cheaper than paying for cable/dish.

I LOVE the Prime. It is expensive but most often I find that their prices on things is $10 or more cheaper and with the free 2day shipping well worth getting it online than in the store at extra cost. We shop Amazon a LOT. If you dont then it’s really not worth it.

You can get it for half price if you have a student in the house.
