moving

You might have wondered why there were no new posts all day.  Well Southern Savers was moving.  A lot of you emailed telling me you were having problems accessing the site this weekend.  After I got home from my great weekend away I saw exactly what you meant.  The web host that we were using was having issues and had no plan or idea when they would be fixed.  So we fixed the problem ourselves by finding a new company!

If you have a blog let me take a minute and tell you about where we are now hosted.  It is a great non-profit web hosting group called Uncorrupted Hosting.  Their goal is to take any profits they do make and give them to charities to feed hungy children.  I love the vision but I have also loved the service.  The owner spent most of last night working with us to get Southern Savers moved (not a simple task for a blog this size) and today the site completed its move seamlessly as you worked.  Hopefully we have solved the outage issues forever and if we do have a problem I am very excited to not have to call India to try to get it fixed.  (Nothing against India we could never understand each other.)

Just to note: If you commented this morning on a post and do not see it now, it was not deleted.  You just happened to comment after we moved the databases but before the new database went live.  I will try to email you an answer if I can or you can repost your comment :)  Sorry to cause problems.

      Jenny,

I went to your workshop on Monday night in Columbia. Thanks! I looked at your beautiful website on Tuesday but then on Wednesday it looked all weird. So I am glad to hear the problem is fixed and that it is not typical for you to have site issues. I have started with CVS and Walgreens and tomorrow I will go to Publix and back to CVS with a friend who has been doing your system since October so she can show me how. I have a question about Walgreen’s rebates. I entered my receipt and it was very easy. But at the end the site asked me if I wanted to just save the receipt so I can add more for the month of March later or if I wanted to close out and order the gift card. I saved it because I wasn’t sure what to do–can you add more receipts even if you close out the rebate order? Also, once I receive the giftcard, are the rebates loaded automatically onto the same card or do I have to get a new card?

Also–do you have a list anywhere on your site of local agencies that like to receive donations of our “overage” or etc. items that we do not necessarily want? I have a feeling I am going to end up with some toiletries that we won’t use and I am wondering where to give them away? Or things like the diabetic monitors, etc.?

Last question–I am having trouble printing coupons becuase I can’t get the printer software to download–it asks you to click on the info bar, but i don’t get an info bar on my computer to click on. Any suggestions?

      THANK YOU from a newbie!

        Nancy,
You can enter multiple receipts throughout the month and then hit the final submit at the end of the month. After they mail you your first giftcard you can use that number in the rebate spot online and they will load any future rebates to that card.

I don’t have a list of agencies but there are so many that want them. In Columbia I take all female products to Hannah House and all Male products to Olive Gospel Mission but most any charity needs personal care items.

Email me about your printing problems and maybe we can figure it out. Click on the box on the left side of the page that says “Email Me”
