I have been couponing for several months now and am still trying to figure things out. Could someone tell me how different stores “deal” with a circumstance of individuals getting things for free or sometimes even overages? I haven't done this YET, but have seen/read where people walk out of stores paying nothing or even leaving with money in pocket. How in the world? Do stores give you cash in hand, give you gift cards, or if you “make money” do they not give you money back? I really don't understand and would appreciate ANY and ALL help I can get. I'm trying to start a couponing group up and want to be as knowledgable as I can be.

      • Agh092362

hey, I've been doing couponing for a little while and don't have all the answers but every store is different. Best to get thier policy and read it. I've never walked out with “cash” back, but sometimes you can “roll” overage over to another item in your cart. Say you bought toothpaste for a $1.00 and your coupon is for $1.50. Some stores adjust the coupon to $1.00 and some let would let you count that .50 toward something like the eggs you have in your cart. If your eggs are $1.00 then the .50 extra from that $1.50 coupon could be deducted from your eggs, making them .50. Generally, you always have to pay taxes on stuff, even if it's free. Go to a coupon workshop if you can and that will help too. Good luck and don't get discouraged. Start small, read sites like this one and others and you will catch on.

      • Malissa

For example I bought something for 80 cents but I had a $1 coupon so that 20 cents is rollllled over into the price of the rest of the groceries at Publix anyway but at Kroger's they give you a hard time. So I had 6 $1 coupons and put that $1.20 of “overage” toward a quart of strawberries. I hope that helps “newbie”.Smile face!

      • Malissa

If you buy something at Walgreen's like I did the overday they “adjust” it DOWN to the price of an item. So I bought something for $3.89 and I had a $4 coupon and they price adjusted it for $3.89 so at Publix you are always getting a better deal in essence.

    • Berrykixx

I know Walmart isn't generally on your list, but I got my Corned beef for 2.01 a pound and the cabbage was .39c .

    • happilysavingmoney

      • lilchief27

What part of the country did you see this? I will be @ Target tomorrow & we need some cokes.

    • happilysavingmoney

Anybody know where to buy cheapest Windex (have $1/1 Q) and Soft Soap Refill ($1/1 Q) this week?

I know Publix has Windex for $2.50 but was wondering if a refill at Walmart wud be cheaper.

SORRY for the duplicates…..dunno how I did that.

I would also use a different brand of liquid soap, just no Qs for them.

Thanks in advance for any help.

    • qwho99

For future reference, could you please include peanut butter & spaghetti sauce? Those are 2 of our important staple items that I always keep on hand.
      Thanks for all you do!!!
