Bi-Lo Weekly Ad 6/10-6/16

What a crazy week at Bi-Lo. There are too many B1G1 deals to count. I have left the categories that Bi-Lo listed these in to make it easier this week. Let me know if you see anything I missed.

Update:  I have updated what prices I could find and done math on the good deals.  Remember that prices do vary by store so you might find a few cents more or less on some items.

Remember:
1. Most Bi-Lo store double coupons that are .60¢ or less
2. You can “stack” a store coupon with a manufacturer’s coupon
3. You do not have to buy 2 of the B1G1 items to get the sale price
4. If you do buy two B1G1 items use 2 coupons if you have them

Oh my gosh! What an ad! Looks like there might be a few freebies! Question for everyone… Does anyone have something good to say to make them scan the bonuscard last so it takes off the full amounts? They are always so quick to ask for the bonus card.

• Caroline

Is there any way you can put the prices in again (before and after) if you have them available? It REALLY helps me make my shopping list according to my budget.
Thanks for this website!

• M Rose

Jane—I wonder about the ethics of that…I am just not sure because we know we are getting the full price discount not the BOGO price so i kind of think that is cheating BiLo in a way. I would like to hear what others think about that as well. My store doesn’t usually ask or make a big deal about it.

• M Rose

just a thought….I do realize biLo feels no guilt selling the product to non-BC holders at full price!!!!

• Jane,
Well other than…it makes me happy when I see it at the end!!

“Let me get to it at the bottom of my buggy on my key ring.”
“I forgot my phone number so gimme a minute to check my cell phone.”
“If you don’t mind scanning the groceries first and then the card..it just seems like so much more fun that way.”

• Stacey

I’m sure most people wouldn’t have a problem with it but I think we can get a little nit picky about wanting overage. I mean, it’s nice but I’m happy just to get something FREE! I think the more we take advantage of stores the more we’ll see them tightening down on coupon rules and possibly doing away with doubling, etc. We want to keep it profitable for them too!

• Jane

M Rose,

I am mostly speaking about buy one get one coupons. I don’t care how they want to ring it up. If it is on sale buy one get one free and you have a buy one get one free coupon, they should both be free. End of story.

• WOW…Jane-
I thought we were having fun thinking of ways to get the BC out last…Sorry I missed out on the whole other LEVEL.

Let me know what line you use on tomorrow.

• Jane

yeah- it’s not the overage I care about at all. Its nice to get, but I’m just tired of getting ripped off with the buy 1 get 1 coupons

• M Rose

OK—just thought this through a little bit. Intent is 9/10 of the law-right. Bi-Lo is selling me the product at a price based on my agreement with them to be a BonusCard holder. With agreement comes special pricing. I have no problem paying the retail price and getting the retail off with BOGO qs, but not if I actually only pay the BC price. I am beating the system by a loop hole and that is not the intent of the program. If you pay the BC price then you should only get the BC price off with the Q. Sometimes it helps to actually stop and think about how this really works to realize some things are not actually ethical. I won’t do it again. Now, if somehow I figure a retail price is better for me because of a coupons special terms, I would have no problem just not using my BC and check out separately with that item. I wouldn’t want someone to take advantage of me in my business this way.

• Jane

oh no! I just reread what I wrote and it didn’t come out in the tone I meant it! :)

It was more of a silly, frustrated rant! Sorry I came across as actually being like really mad or something.

• M Rose

Sorry- I don’t mean to offend….just hashing out the legalities of it all!!! All in good “couponing-fun”!!!

• Jane

Yeah- I get what you are saying now. But, off that subject, What an exciting ad!!!! yay:)

• M Rose

agree!!! Hoping some of our slack customers pay tomorrow so i can go shopping!!!!!

• Amanda

Has anyone printed out the Hartz dog biscuits coupon yet? Both of mine printed without a picture. Do you think I will have a problem using them?

• This is gonna be a good week. A few freebies but lots of good deals. Im thinking about going now, lol….

• On second thought maybe I will just go to bed.

• Mina

It’s a beautiful ad, just full of good stuff. What’s even better is that I don’t need anything, except to shore up our supply of croutons and to check out the prices on batteries. The bags of granny smith apples at my store looked gorgeous!

• tina

I really wish the prices where up there too. That is one thing I really liked about your site. Is there anyway to add the prices to the list. Now we don’t know what will be free or cheap. Thanks!

• Jenny

The prices are coming. Sorry I put it at the top of the post when I went to bed. It was 4am and I had to call it quits last night. Life starts over again here at 7:30 no matter when mom went to sleep. I will get them up and the math for the deals up this afternoon after we have our morning routine around here. Sorry for the delay.

• Ashley

The way that I get around showing my Bonuscard LAST is I get at the FRONT of my cart with my purse in the Front, and just wait to put my things up once its my turn. They KNOW i am not going to stop putting my groceries on the scanner to get my card…So I always wait! If not, I say “LET ME FIND IT” lol…

• Jennifer

so let me get this straight… if you have a bogo coupon and the item is on sale at the store for bogo… you get both of them for free? I have 3 coupons for the mean green and I would like to use them on the bogo but I dont want to be taking advantage of the system…

• Christina

Where are the prices for BOGO items?

• Karen

My June All You magazine doesn’t list the Juicy Juice coupon on the list of coupons in the front of the magazine. Where is it hidden? Is it possible that my magazine doesn’t have it? I have a subscription.
Thank you very much for your help!

• amy

my friend went to bi-lo last night and she had quite a few bogof coupons…she was checking out and said to the cashier…”i do not want to scan my bi-lo card till the very end so all these coupon coupon will be credited to the maxium value.” the cashier said…”great plan!” and there was no problem…now how long they do this will be questioned BUT our bi-lo is strict on all kinds of rules and this was acceptable….so we will see…

• Teri

Speaking of ethics, for those who get to use these at Publix, FL or RA, consider the fact that Food Lion and Rite Aid both provide online q’s with the sole intent of offering one per person – period. After speaking with people at their corproate offices, I am now only printing them once to be used once since they do not want their q’s used more than that. It is not ethical to use them more than what the provider wants. I agree with someone in a earlier post that if we take advantage of the q’s they offer, than they will be forced to stop giving them to us. Anytime anyone offers us one free item, no matter what it is, and we take more, we are in the wrong. We don’t allow our children to take thsoe liberties. The Rite Aid q’s also say they are to be used with no “other offers” which corporate says means no other q’s used in the same transaction like the current Walgreen’s q’s. I had to go back to my Publix and confess that I had illegally used both of the above q’s in their stores and ask forgiveness. The manager was very kind and didn’t want me to repay him, which is what I felt like I should do, but intstead asked me to make a donation to a charity they are currently supporting. This put a huge whole into my grocery budget and I’ve had to rethink my whole way of couponing.

• Tiffany

Does the Smart Ones coupon really work with the Weight Watchers Novelties since they are not smart ones, just Weight Watchers?

• Jane

So wait- I have a question.

If you give your bonuscard after they scan everything, but before they do my coupons, it stil gives the right, full amounts for a buy one get one coupon???

Thanks so much for any help!

• Michelle

I got messed up by the bonus card last week. I had the Qs for BOGO M&Ms, and Bi-Lo had them on sale BOGO, so they should have been free. However, the cashier insisted on using my card before doing the Qs, and then she just deducted half price for the Q instead of full price. Does that make sense? I was a little peeved, but I figured it will still cheaper than if I hadn’t used the Qs at all, right?

Another question…I was looking at the Publix coupons. There was an Imodium Q for $5.00 off, but it said on the Q cannot be combined with other Qs. I thought everyone always said you could use a mfg Q with a Publix store Q. Any thoughts on this? Thanks!

• JODI

JANE-
I KNOW AT MY BILO SOMETIMES THEY HAVE TROUBLE SCANNING THE COUPONS IF YOU DONT SCAN YOUR BILO CARD FIRST.I THINK THATS WHY THEY ASK YOU FOR IT IN THE BEGINNING. I KNOW I LIKE TO SEE ALL THE SAVINGS AT THE END AS WELL.

• Kim

I found some coupons for Budweiser sauces. This should be a good deal.

• Nikki

I guess I still have a lot to learn about couponing because I am thoroughly confused about ethics and legality, etc. etc. I just want to be the virtuous woman God called me to be…..displaying good stewardship over what He has provided for my family. I never want to knowingly cheat someone out of something or make it hard for others to use their coupons because I’ve abused the system.

Can someone give me a simple rundown of what the real deal is to help me make an informed decision about using coupons, bonuscards, and the order of presentation? Until recently, I always thought that it didn’t matter. Evidently, there is more than meets the eye!

• J

My store BOGO on a BOGO means 1/2 price. For instance I purchased 6 M&M’s at BOGO, which made them $0.40 each. then with my BOGO couopns, I got them for $0.20 a piece. So, I paid $2.40 for 12 packs instead of $4.80. We need to remember that the store does get reimbursed for the coupon difference.

• J

At my Bi-lo they give 1/2 price on BOGO on a BOGO. For instance, the M&M’s were $0.79 BOGO, so $0.395/ piece. I had BOGO coupons and I ended up paying $0.195 a piece. So instead of $4.80 for 12 packages, I paid $2.40 for 12. The cashier knew that they were 1/2 price, even before they swipped my Bonus Card.

• Just went to a Southern Savers “coupon” night held at church by Jenny. She said hand over your coupons first, then your bilo card. When I went to bilo, I just told the cashier I’ll give you my bilo card at the end. She just started ringing me up.
I’m the customer. It’s my choice when to hand over my card. :)

• J

As for swipiing my Bonus Card last, I just get busy unloading my cart and hand it to them last. Also, the store IS being reimbursed for the coupon, so in this case, you are not cheating the system.

Last night, my hubby and I went shopping, and he got really nervous when the total was $114.xx, as we are saving to buy a house. But he sighed a deep sigh of relief when the final total was read!! It was only $34.xx!!!!

• What a dissapointment!!!

Well just to let you know the prices in the ad this week are all jacked up. The only thing that I noticed had the ad price was Coco Puffs Cereal at 2.69 and Lipton Tea Family Size at 2.19. They are back to their old tricks of save at least 2.69 on 2 BOGO. And then when you get to the store expecting it to be bogo for 2.69 you are surprised to see it is bogo for 4 something. They claim you are saving 2.69 on 2 not the price is bogo at 2.69. I am beginning to dislike Bi-Lo.

Then to top off all the price frustration I endured when I get to the register they refuse to take my .75 off 2 lipton family size coupon. Stating, “This coupon is no good, your only buying 1 and getting one for free” I politely said no I am buying two at half price. We went round and round and she wouldnt budge. Needless to say I didnt buy. I went in expecting to buy a ton of stuff and walked out with 2 soft scrub, 6 cereal, and 2 mean green.
What a dissapointment!!!

• Legality/Ethics of Bonus Card!

Here is how I feel about this issue.
1.) Push come to shove – give your card first if it is creating an issue!
2.) The store is the one running the sale, not the manf. The manf doesnt care what the store sold it for after they bought it from them.
3.) The store is getting full value for that coupon!!! Why should you feel guilty about getting something with overage. I know they dont when we use a .75 coupon on something that cost .50 and they make a quarter in their favor.
4.) Most (advanced) coupon shoppers know more about the stores policy then the managers do…lol…go figure!!!

• Michelle

I looked at the bi-lo online weekly ad, and all the items were different than what is listed here, so I went back to look at the bi-lo website again, and it keeps saying the weekly ad is unavailable. I’m not sure what’s going on with that. Guess I will have to go by the store and get an actual newspaper ad!

• Stacey

KAREN–the Juicy Juice coupon in the June All You mag is in a blooklet stapled in the magazine.

• Tracie in SC

I just left bi-lo and they would not take any of the cereal coupons. It said $1.00 off 2. I was told the same thing about not being able to use them because one is free. I did have other coupons that said the same thing, but it took those. I didn’t say any thing cause I didn’t want them to take those coupons back. I was so mad! Not liking bi-lo right now either.

• Which BiLo’s are giving you all a hard time with the BOGO’s and “off two” coupons? I”m in Goose Creek, SC, and want to be prepared!

• Cori

Tracie
That is wrong, if you only buy one of those products they charge you half price. I have not had trouble with them doing this. I would ask the manager.

Thanks Jenny, you spoil us!

• Jennifer

Thank you for posting these Jenny.

I went late last night to buy some more of the Ocean Spray drink individual drink mixes since I wanted to try them before using all of my coupons on them. They gave me this ad and I swear I almost passed out in the store.

I think it is a really good ad and if I go today I can use a bunch of Kraft coupons that are about to expire and that I thought would go to waste. Lets just say there are a lot of Tombstone pizzas in our future.

• Tracie in SC

I am in Sumter. Good luck with yours in Goose Creek

• I am going to my local Rock Hill BILO in about 20 minutes and will post any DRAMA I have when I get back.

• VICKI

So how do we get put on the list to have the ad sent to our mailbox? I would love to be able to see the ad early and get prepared with my coupons or ask my coupon swappers for some of theirs!!

• Mine comes with the JUNK mail from all the local stores in the mail box.

• Stacey

I called customer service about another issue today and asked about their coupon policy. They said their only coupon policy is that the value of the coupon must not exceed the cost of the product. So trying to “work” the system to get overage does seem to be wrong. And like I said earlier the more we try to work the system for our gain the harder they will make it to use coupons. Let’s not take advantage!

• Stefanie

I don’t know if any of this was mentioned..if it has, I’m sorry! :)

I went today and bought a bunch of stuff. But at my Bilo, the Dasani water was 8.99 b1g1f, which makes the SH water 3.98 a better deal.

The kraft singles cheese is the 24 slice pack and it is buy 2 get 1 free at 3.19 each. Not that great of a deal unless you (1) REALLY need cheese or (2) Only will eat kraft.

The Easy Mac cups in Cheesy Taco is on clearance for .44 a cup and there was tear pad located there for .75/3…which made them .19 each.

The Excedrin 24ct is $4.19 b1g1f…making them 2.09 each. I still had some of the 2.00 IP so I got a couple of .09 each!

The Hartz Crunch N Clean dog biscuits are $3.59 b1g1f, making them 1.74 each and the Q’s for 2.00 off each (IP) go through without a hitch!

Aunt Jemima frozen waffles will be .50 each after the $1.00/2 Q.

Surf detergent is the best deal. If you still have the .40 off All or Surf Q’s…they double and make the 40 load powder for $1.94 each.

• Stefanie

The crunch N clean coupons I mentioned above go through, I don’t know if I received overage or not. I saw the register take off amounts, add amounts and then deduct again. I don’t know what it was doing.

• Stefanie

OH and until the 11th, when you buy 2 Country Time canisters you earn $1 ONYO!

• Jennifer

Stacy, I have found with stores that if you ask 10 different people their coupon policies you will get 10 different responses. They are reimbursed the full amount for the manufacturers coupons so if I have a $2.00 coupon for an item that costs $1.50 I don’t feel bad getting $.50 from them because I know that they will be paid back from the manufacturer. Now, if I have a $.50 coupon for an item that costs $.90 I don’t mind them only “doubling” it for $.40 so that I get it for free but don’t get overage, because that comes out of their pocket and I understand why they would do that.

Does that make sense? I don’t feel like it is cheating if they are getting paid back by the manufacturer.

• Michelle

Now the bi-lo website is completely down. What’s going on?

• Mina

Ah, Leroy, I don’t consider that “Save XXX on two” to be much of a trick. I read it as being what they state is their regular price on one item.

(General, not to Leroy in particular)
BOGO around here generally means 1/2 price, but when items are as Buy (more than one)Get one, the first items are often full price and the final one free. That changes the way that q’s can be used.

I LOVE my local Bi-Lo’s. At my favorite one, I try to use my favorite cashiers because they are efficient with coupons, and use them themselves. For BOGO q’s they have to enter a price. It doesn’t matter when I give my card, they enter the full regular price if the item is also BOGO at their store. So, I do wind up with true freebies. I also hand them those coupons along with the items so that they don’t have to look them up afterwards. It saves us both time. On coupons that stores double, since the doubled part comes straight from the store, I never expect them to double if the price will exceed the price they are charging for the item because that is a true loss to the store. When those do double anyway, it’s always a nice surprise, but I never expect it.

I’ve been finding that my favorite cashiers and customer service people are frequently those who also shop with coupons. When they are interested in what I’m doing they come across as looking for good deals rather than like they are policing out of distrust.

• Jenny

Mina,

This week Leroy is right though many of the prices listed are really the half price of the half price. So when you get in the store you are going to find it to be double what the ad says.

Example:

The ad says save $3.30 on two Powerade 8pks. These are regularly almost $7 ea so they are really listing the half price. If you buy two of them you will actually save $6.60. So they need to change it to say “Save $3.30 on 1” The hard part is that half of the prices are worded correctly and half are not, so you just have to go by what you remember prices being the past.

They don’t make this easy…

• Christina

Thanks for the #s Jenny. You’re the bom

• TC

OK….this is how Bi-Lo ads work. The ‘save’ $$ verbage that is listed in the paper is based on the prices in the Bi-Lo HQ home market. Just like every other grocery store, the price varies by market. Since they don’t actually do the buy one get one thing but do 1/2 off, it is very understandable why they say ‘save as least $$ on 2 w/BonusCard’. The save $$s on 2 is what the retail price is in Bi-Lo HQ area.

If the item is not BOGOF, then the save $ is the actual difference in HQ market regular retail and the sale price point.

Also, the vendor only pays for the coupon amount. Any doubling of coupons is paid by Bi-Lo.

• Just back from BILO…was a good trip…didn’t get to many items thoush cause i left my glasses…went through U-SCAN and purchased $139 for about $38.00….got about 6 Excedrin, 8 soft scrub items, caught some Pop Tarts on closeout for $1.23 – .55/1 x 2, and some other stuff actually took a pic for my blog and well didn’t have it saved to the camera and it’s gone…oh well it was good no beeps, everything went well. Shout out to Rock Hill BILO on Heckle.

• Mina

LOL Travise! You sound like me. When I forget my glasses it’s just too much trouble to shop.

I gotcha, Jenny. It sounds like another screwed up ad. This is one time that I didn’t already view it. Any way they decide to word those things would be easy for their regular customers to adapt to, but when they are worded inconsistently its a real challenge unless you know the regular prices of the items.

Since all I really want enough to need this week are apples and croutons, it shouldn’t be any big deal for me, except that the apples weren’t price marked at my store as of Tuesday night when I looked at them.

• Jodi

So to sum this up regarding B1G1 Q’s with B1G1 item, scan items, scan bilo card then scan coupons? (to get full value of Q) thanks

• Cheryl

Had a great trip to Bi-Lo tonight. I had no problem getting the BOGO coupon for the entire amount. The cashier just looked back on the receipt and put in the original price not the discounted price. I scanned my card first and I don’t think I had any problems by doing this.

I bought 311.86 worth of stuff for 110.57. I had 88 items which included 5 laundry deg., 4 bathroom cleaners, 10 pkgs of smoked sausage, 6 kool-aid cannister, 4 pizzas, butter, cheese, ice cream, razors,….. etc. That equals 1.25 per item.

I am pleased. I did notice some of the prices were wrong in the ad but after seeing the size of the product that was on sale I did not feel ripped off, it would have been unheard of to have some of the items at the price in the ad.

Thanks Jenny for all you do. I have always done coupons but your site has really encouraged me to take it up a notch.

• Kelly Grant

As I was going through the line, at the end when it was coupon time, he scanned the first then the next one wouldn’t scan. He said, “You can’t use coupons on B1G1.” I said, “You just scanned one for a B1G1. The rest worked fine, until the very end. He called the manager and she keyed them in.

I scanned my card first, then the coupons and some of them doubled.

• Amy

Jenny – $1 off Blue Bunny on their website!!

• Amy

3 pack Scotch Brite pads are $3.25 at Bi Lo in Irmo

• Amanda

Jackie

I have never had a problem with the goose creek bi-lo they are always very helpful.

I am still kinda new to couponing but my trip was great today. Well atleast I think so lol.

Sub-total before savings $186.21
your svaings $ 110.17
sub-total after savings $76.04
tax paid $4.41
total $80.45

• momof2

Hey Guys, Just wanted to let you know that the Country Time Canisters 8 Quarts (19 oz) are $3.49 BOGO or $1.75 ea (however you choose to buy) there is a manufacturer’s coupon for $1.25 off in the Kraft Simply Delicious booklet from Publix. That would make the canisters 50 cents.

Amy,
On the blue bunny website the only coupon I was able to view was $1 off any 1.75 quart of premium ice cream. The blue bunny ice cream that is on sale are the Blue Bunny Champ! Cones 6 ct BOGO at $5.22 so I don’t think that coupon would work since that item is not listed on the coupon.

• momof2

Another deal I found was that Comet Cleaner (in an orange bottle) is 63 cents ea. I had a q for 35 cents so I was able to get that for free.
Also Martha White buttermilk cornmeal was 77 cents ea & I had a 55 cents q for that also so I was able to get that for free also.

• Jules

There is a $3.00 off coupon tearpad at Bilo for energizer max which is also BOGO. Only certain ones are BOGO (not the AA and AAA in the 16 pack per Q) but the other sizes will be very cheap!!

• Glenda

Has anyone been able to find the Finish Gelpacs or Powerball Tabs for $5.19 BOGO in the Chattanooga area? The stores that I have checked have been priced at $7.72 BOGO. Thanks.

• Jon

Conway, SC BI-LO has implemented new policy. Only one manufacturer Q per item per transaction. They let me use mine yesterday but said no more. Wife and I will be shopping in two carts now. That indicated this was due to coupon fraud, xerox copies.

• Sherry

Went shopping at BI-LO in Fort Oglethorpe, GA Wednesday. With all the BOGO’s and many coupons, I was able to get $200.11 for $84.02. Thanks Jenny for your coupon match-ups each week.

• Ashley

Ok?! Just trying to make sure I understand correctly. If I get BOGO of the Kraft Microwave cups at $0.88 and I use my BOGO coupon, I should get them both for free? Could someone please verify this for me?

• chelsey

omg! im new to the site and i love it! i spent $3.56 and saved $27!! amazing! thank u so much!

• Mina

Ashley, if the sale price per cup is 88 cents, you may wind up paying 44 cents total for the two of them. Bi-Lo BOGO sales aren’t true BOGO’s. They are half price sales. Because of that, it will all depend on how your cashier enters the price on the BOGO coupon. If he enters the sale price, you will wind up paying half the regular price of the first item for the two items together. If he enters the regular full price, they will wind up both being free. It all depends on how your particular store and cashier treat that type of deal.

• Lin

I think Lysol disinfecting wipes information is not correct.
I bought two Lysol Disinfecting Wipes 56-80 ct. The bi-lo store price is $5.99 (Buy one get one free), which makes each around $3.00.After that, I use the $1 off coupon SS 6/07. But the final due price is $4.98/2, which makes each $2.49.
How can you make it $0.64 each???

• Denise

Thought I’d share the experience I had at Bi-Lo today. I gave my reward card after the coupons were scanned, which is what I always do and it’s never a problem. The cashier watched all the savings come up and I think she noticed that the Soft Scrub discounted and I had used the BOGO coupon. So she voided the transaction, emptied my bags and rescanned the whole lot!!! (The lady behind me in line was furious.)
The cashier said that ALL the coupons had scanned wrong. In actual fact, just that soft scrub one was different. As Jennifer mentioned in comment #53, the cashier wrote on the coupon the amount so the store would be reimbursed for it. Oh well.
That was the Ocoee Crossing BL in Cleveland, TN.

• Stefanie

Ashley, this week the Easy Mac is on sale for .88 and they aren’t BOGOF. So, if you use your BOGO coupon…you will only get one free. Does that make sense?

• Tara

Hi Jenny! You are the bomb! I had my best trip ever today I think! My total bill before the sales was like 176.00 and I only paid like 72.00!!!

Bought
7 Mean Green
1 roast
2 Uno’s pizzas
3 Surf
1 Wisk
1 All
4 things of candy on sale
1 pack of the water on sale
2 packages of cheese slices
1 Spot Shot
2 keebler fudge cookies
1 sandies cookies
4 Breyers ice cream
2 stickey fingers bbq sauce
2 wiskas
3 chinet plates
4 lysol wipes

• M Rose

As to Bi-Lo coupon policy….my friend called corporate and they said that the only policy was that Qs cannot exceed item amount. The rep said he would check to see if individual managers can make policy changes on a per store basis!! As for me…today I got $206.19 for $40.28!!! WOOOHOOOO!!!!

• I am having trouble with the online smart source coupons. Every time I try to print them it prints them without barcodes. Can anyone help???? Thanks!

• Allison

Hello, I went to the coupon class in Florence,SC this week and boy oh boy did it help!! I went to Bilo today and would have spent 110.00 and ended up spending 21.40. AMAZING My husband was so excited and told me he was never going grocery shopping again! He usually can beat me on my spending. THANKS JENNY!!

• Nicole

I’m new to couponing and after my 2nd week, I’m hooked! Thank you Jenny for your website and to all of you for your comments-I’m learning so much about saving money :)

However, there is something I am missing…Sometimes the posts don’t add up. For example, from this week –
“Keebler Sandies 9.5-16 oz $3.99
-$1 off Keebler Sandies printable (makes it .99 ea)”

$3.99-$1.00=$3.00 … how does the coupon make the price .99?

• Karsten

Heads up!! Went to my bi-Lo this afternon (Beaufort, SC) and Quaker oatmeal pancake mix was $3.09 and is on closeout for $1.34 with a $1 peelie on each box!! I figured for .34 it was worth a try.

• I don’t remember the date of the insert this coupon came in, but I have a $1 off any one Budweiser BBQ sauce, which is BOGO this week for $2.50, with the coupon, .25 each.

• Michelle B.

I am very new at couponing, so I find that I learn something every time I go to Bi-Lo. I’m not sure that I saved a whole lot of money tonight or not. I DO know that at the Sumter Bi-Lo they have posted signs that Bonus Cards must be scanned at the beginning of all purchases. I have to admit to some confusion about the whole “at the beginning” or “at the end” question. At our couponing seminar, we were told to have it scanned at the end, so that’s what I’ve always done. Hmm…… I also saw on my receipt tonight a difference in price. Last Saturday when I bought the CP Sausage, they were .99 each, I’m pretty sure. Tonight, they came out to 1.75. I was also not allowed to use my Hartz coupon ($2.00)

So, at the end of this trip:
Sub-total: $48.70
My Savings: $29.76
Total after tax: $19.90

Not terribly bad, I suppose, although I am still not sure about B1G1 and the coupon policies on those.

• Suzanne

Did anybody notice that the Land ‘O Frost lunchmeat is B1G1 and there is a .55 newspaper coupon (not sure which Sunday it was)? Bilo doubles Qs up to .60 cents, so the final cost would be .65 cents a package, right?

• Jenny

Suzanne,

It is actually a different size package on sale than the coupon states. It would have made an awesome deal on lunch meat though.

• Kristie

I was so astonished when I went to BILO in Huntersville/Mt. Holly NC and they double coupons up to .99!!! That threw off my whole gameplan. Needless to say I will be going back tomorrow. Is this a NC thing?? My mothers BILO in Goose Creek, SC only doubles up to .60! What’s the deal…any ideas??

• Jenny

Kristie,

It is a select few stores that double that high so enjoy it!! Most double to .60 cents or less.

• Lisa Neicen

Nicole,

All you missed was these are B1G1 so each package is only 1.99 – 1.00= .99

“Keebler Sandies 9.5-16 oz $3.99
-$1 off Keebler Sandies printable (makes it .99 ea)”

FEW THINGS****

Tidy Cats B1G1 @ 3.99- There is a 2/1 manufacturer q in the Yellow Publix Advantage Flyer making them both FREE!!

Land O Frost Lunch Meats 3.49 B1G1- There is a .55/1 manufacturer q (not sure which insert) making them .64 each after coupon doubles

Weber Grilling I could only find the 1/2 in Publix Booklet. I did see .55/1 McCormick…. did I miss it or is this incorrect on the post?

I have to admit I an not normally a Bi-Lo Shopper but this looks pretty fun this week, gonna give it a whirl!!

• Teresa-QOCD

well, with all this discussion on the coupons, I walked into Bi-lo and asked the cs how they would treat a bogo coupon with a bogo sale and the person went to the back and came out and told me they wouldnt accept the coupon at all. I had several coupons from paper not computer. Needless to say they didnt get my coupons or my business! This was the Bi-lo in Fountain Inn, SC on Main Street.

• Mina

Michelle B. – It sounds like you did well! As long as you bought things that you want or need, and spent less on each item than you would have otherwise, you are doing well. If you are the type of person who winds up slowly building stockpiles of what you use by purchasing while on sale, your totals will probably eventually wind up going down even more because there will be more and more things that you don’t need to buy unless they hit rock bottom.

Saturday was a different sale week. This week the Carolina Pride sale price is $3.49/2, or $1.75 for your first pack before coupons are tallied. If you use the $1.50/2 q, the final price for 2 should be $1.99.

• Jennifer C.

Nicole,
Make sure you use 2 coupons when you buy your pecan sandies, one for each item. That’s how it comes to .99¢ for each.

• Jim

Okay, the more I read the more confused I get. I shop at the Bi-Lo Concord, NC, and have had no problem. I always scan my groceries and then my coupons. I don’t want to do anything unethical either so is this a problem?

• Jim

oops groceries, bilo card, and then coupons.

• Michelle B.

Mina,
Thanks for explaining. Now I understand how that worked. And, you’re right….as long as I’m saving some money, I feel much better! Now, if I could just find some coupons for Pepsi products. I do I DO miss my Pepsis!

• Jessica

OK. Please help. I’m new at this and kinda understand how it works, however, I’m having trouble understanding where/how to find the coupons. I noticed that some of the items says printable coupon beside them but alot of them doesn’t, so where do you find the coupons for the one’s that doesn’t say printable coupon beside them?
Thank You in advance

• Teri

Jessica, Most of the time you have to have bought the Sunday’s paper that had the insert in it. The SS, RP, etc. tells you which insert it was (like SS is Smart Source) and the date after if tells you which Sunday it was in the paper. On weekends that have lots of inserts, buy extra papers and then save the inserts for the best deals. Don’t get discouraged if you haven’t been saving them. You just have lots of saving to look forward to. (Around me, Walgreens has the best deal on Sunday papers @ $.88.)

• Linda

Just came back….a few things I noticed:

Carolina Pride sale is only on cocktail smokies, not on smoked sausages.

Tidy Cat Litter is not BOGO, but is on sale (4.99, I think).

The Weber grill seasoning coupon listed is actually for McCormick grillmates, a different product.

Despite this, I did pretty well: saved $44 and spent $28. Left all the above items in the store, however!

Teri
where do you live that you get your paper for 88cents?
I am in chapin sc and I currently pay 2 dollars each
Thanks

• I agree with Stacey. I think we should try to be ethical and just let them scan the card. Trying to get overage is ridiculous when you are using coupons and getting it for free anyway. You will ruin it for everyone is you keep doing this. Because they will start being very strict and tighten up their coupon policies. So I hope that everyone is practicing good ethics when using coupons.

Erin, I”m not sure where Teri lives, but she just might live near me. I live in Greenville, SC and Walgreens sells them for .88, but I’ve met one person who said her Walgreens on the other side of town sells them for .75! I’m jealous!

• Teri

Yes, I live in the Greenville, SC area. Our Dollar Tree also sells the Sunday paper for $1 and sometimes will even have them later in the week.

• Heather

I am in Chapin, SC and pay 2.00 each. The Wags in ballentine used to sell them .99 each but then stopped for some reason.

I love Bi-Lo…I went there the other day and purchased the following:

11 Chinet
4 BBQ Sauce
2 boxes of Cherrios
7 containers Joint Juice (4 per container)
2 bottles of Smart Balance cooking oil

Total: $2.95
Savings: $98.35

Well, despite scanning groceries, cards, then Q’s, one day the B1G1 worked on the B1G1 products, but then the next day, they only wanted to give me the discounted price, so i didnt buy them. Guess that i cant win them all. so i guess the rules change everyday depending on who the cashier is.

• Linda

Lin (#76),
I had the same issue at Bi-Lo yesterday. I bought them anyway, but I noticed that the price listed on this site was 3.29. I noticed that the smaller container was close to that price at my bilo, but these were not BOGO. I asked about it when I checked out at the store and they stated that the smaller container was not included in the BOGO. HTH.

• Maya

At my Bi-Lo you must give them your card first to scan. They have to either scan a card and press the ‘no’ button to scan the first item.
The Weber grill seasoning coupon listed is actually for McCormick grillmates, a different product.
I have the $50 Weber Grill Creations Seasonings and Marinade coupon, so it’s not an error. I get the Greenville News newspaper. Sometimes there’s a difference in coupons listed. Someone mentioned they got the Budweiser sauce coupon, but I don’t see it in my coupons so guess I’m missing that deal.

Well after studying this site, I started clipping coupons 2 wks ago. I went to BiLo Friday morning around 8am while it was still quite and not busy and took my time to shop and mark my paper that I brought from home. I had my stack of coupons. Some from clippings and some printed from the computer. I had no problems at all. She took my coupons then scanned my card both at the very end in that order. My bill was $157 even and after taking everything off it was $80.43. WOW. I was excited. My first trip and I was pleased. This was the BiLo in Columbia. One coupon (computer print) didn’t scan at first and she politely typed it in.

the kebbler sand at walmart are 2.00 so if you use the coupon there you will save a 1.00

• Linda

Thank you Dana (110),
I guess I should have clarified: the Q from the Summer Savings flyer from Publix (.55/1) is for McCormick grillmates.

That’s amazing that you get $50 Q’s for grill seasonong!;)

I did my personal best so far since I started saving all my coupons and looking at coupon sites. I got $81 worth for $26 today. I got my 2 Soft Scrubs free. Not sure if they did card or Qs first. The manager there was very helpful with rain checks and checking stock.

My husband is a Bi-Lo Store Manager. I love to use my coupons just as much as you all do. I recently purchased $318 for $80.40. I will say that we have discussed the fact that if people abuse it, Bi-Lo (along with the other grocery chains) will stop doubling. There were Reynold’s Wrap coupons on packs of chicken. When they compared the number of Reynold’s Wrap coupons redeemed to the # of products sold, the numbers didn’t add up. The word will get out and companies will start to audit these stores. Then, when the distributors stop paying the face value of the coupon, they will REALLY crack down on things. Also, Bi-Lo DOES NOT get reimbursed for the “doubled” portion. You would be surprised how that really adds up. Think about what you save and then do the math… My husband’s store has approx. 11,000 customers in his store a week and there are approx. 230 stores in the company. The program is great and we don’t want them to pull it.

• Travise, I am sorry you forgot your glasses. My Bi-Lo drama was worse, though, in my humble opinion. My 2 year old stepped on my flip flop as I was changing direction and broke the thing. Yes, I did finish my couponing with one shoe on and one shoe in the buggy.

Also, my hard drive crashed and I had to do this ad without you, Jenny! Oh, my! I am so grateful for this site.

• Lorri

Thanks Kimberly – I agree, we need to appreciate our Bi-lo Stores and not abuse a good thing. It’s easy to get carried away and want to get our OOP as low as possible. It’s good to keep this in mind so the stores will keep having the deals.

Hi Everyone I’m pretty new to the couponing world since Febuary Really enjoying the ride Just dicovered Bi-Lo again since our Mooresville store closed long ago .I have a question to be clarified-If it says BOGO but the items ring at 1/2 price ,then shouldn’t you be able to use a coupon for each item you are buying?

• Julie from Sumter

Scott Paper Towels 1 Mega Roll at $2.24
-$1/4 Scott Mega Rolls SS 6/14 (makes it $0.87 ea)

My Bi-Lo in Sumter would not take this coupon, because it is B1G1. UGH! Also, the Chinet plate coupon to print will not work for the lunch plates on sale.

• JEB

SBL,

YES! YAY!

• MaddiesMom

Jim (95/96)…where in Concord is the Bi-Lo? I live by the speedway and knew of the old on in the Northern Tool location, but never knew there was another. I have only been to the one by Prosperity Church, but haven’t been to one since I started doing this. I was thinking about heading to that store, but if the one in Concord is closer, I would love to go!

• Tanya

Just love this site. I’ve recently began to coupon again seriously. I was wondering, if you scan your own items can you wait to scan your BC after you’ve scanned your items and coupons? I know it asks for it at the beginning but can you skip scanning it then and still have an option to do it later?

• Jenny

Tanya,

you can scan your card at the end. It will recognize it anytime you scan it.

• Christa

I went to Bi-Lo tonight and they only wanted to give me 1/2 price for my B1G1 Soft Scrub coupons. Finally they gave me the full amount when I explained that the ad says B1G1, not but each one at half price AND that the manu. would reimburse them the full amount anyway. However, I think they did it to be nice not because they believed me. I hate to have to take the time to plead my case with the manager and I am wondering if I am right? Does anyone know Bi-Lo’s official policy on this? Thanks!

• I went to the Bi-Lo in Trenton, GA and the only issue I had was that they were out of the Honey Mustard, Chinet Plates and Purex fabric softener. Too bad this is where our vacation house is and I can’t go back tomorrow as I am home now!!!

They took my coupons and then scanned my card last! Whoo hooo!
$98 total before coupons & card
$34 after coupons and card

• Donna

Bought the B1G1 Country Time lemonade and a $1.00 off my next purchase printed out!
