$1 off code blockbuster

If you are expecting some down time this weekend, head to your nearest Blockbuster Express Kiosk and get a $1 off your movie rental!  Use the code NEWYEAR on the checkout screen to get your discount.

The code is good through 1/1.

I just tried to reserve one of the $1 movies online to pick up in store and typed in the promotion code and it says it is not valid.  Is anyone else having this problem?

      • Susan W

        same here…

      • Cyndi P

for some reason you can’t use discount codes when reserving online.  You have to actually go to the kiosk and hope they have the movie you want when you get there.  redbox works the same way.

        • Cyndi P

ps   Be careful.  Some of their movies are up to $3.00 now.

          • Dee

Found that out yesterday.  Starting to think that Red box is a better option.

        • TAA

With Blockbuster you can actually use the code online…with Redbox you have to use it at the kiosk.

Usually codes are only good at the kiosk – not for online rentals.

The email from Blockbuster says the code NEWYEAR is $1 off your SECOND rental when you rent one.

I drove to my local kiosk thinking there would be a free movie but it said I had to rent two (as in bogo). No way!

Even our Redbox is more than a $1/day now! =(

    • SmoochTheCook

I put one in my cart, tried and it said I hadn’t rented enough, so I put another $1 in and it still said that.  That’s a big ol’ bummer.  I would have paid $1 for 2 movies, if it all worked that way…still not as good as free, but a good enough price for some entertainment.
