Surprise! It’s a new addition to Southern Savers. Thanks to Lori for stepping up and helping bring this store back after a long break!

A few notes about this list:shoppinglist1

  1. I do not have authorization to list actual prices because the commissary is not a traditional grocery store. So instead of prices you will see a percent off. If you want to see the full list of what is on sale with prices you can go here and log in.
  2. This list also follows the same guidelines as other lists on Southern Savers, only items that are at least 40% will be listed. Remember to stock up on these items by getting 6-8 weeks worth this week.
  3. The deals run for two weeks so look for a new list every other week.

If you find any deals in the store not listed let us know! If you find any new military coupons share that too!!

    • MH

Thanks for adding this! I saved nearly $40 today at the commissary using coupons and planning ahead for items that are on sale.

      • Jaimegrassi

I tried doing it on my own at the Commissary last week and managed to save 59%! At the Commissary thats pretty darn good!! Now with Jenny's help I will be unstopable! lol

    • alivias_closet

I'm thrilled to see you've added the Commissary to your site!!!!

    • Shawna Lei

This is a great addition to your site! Thanks for the extra effort for the military families! The commissary can be a little daunting for couponers and I know this will help out a lot!

    • Karen

I usually just go with my all my coupons and price list. It takes me forever but I've gotten some good deals. Tide w/ Downy was on sale with a coupon making it a good deal.

    • Jaime Marie

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!

    • Meg

Oh my gosh… I am so excited. This was totally my vote for a new store… Also I just wanted to say that my Publix takes the military coupons.

      • renee

Meg, what Publix do you shop at? Thanks

    • KB Ribelin

Very Excited!!! We are fising to move on base for about 2 years! woohoo!

    • Karen

Kraft Natural Shredded cheese (16 oz) 4 cup bags, on sell for $2.50, all the different flavors. It was the same price as the kraft 2 cups. Yes, I'm so excited I get off work at 6:00 and have 45 minutes to shop (they close at 7:00) and I don't do a very good job at it. I've been very dissappointed with my savings (I try really hard to have my weekend free from shopping so I can have quality family time). Also Pantene shampoo is on sell for 1.99 you will find a coupon on some of the bottles for b2 shampooo or conditioner g1f of the styler. I had two $1.00 off coupons from two sundays ago, paid $2.00 and received $8.63 in product. I'm very excited!!!!!!!!

    • Catherine

Minute Maid Juice (anything but orange juice) $1.50, use $1.50 off printable to make it free. Orange juice is $2, so $.50 after coupon. I was so excited when I got to the register and saved over $60 in coupons alone plus all the sales! Got to love the Commissary =)

    • Abbie

I'm so glad this is being added! Although it's a little ironic. I made the 2 1/2 hour drive yesterday afternoon to shop at the huge Ft. Campbell commissary. Too bad I didn't have this list to take with me. A few deals I wanted to add – Oscar Meyer Deli Creations were almost free with the $1/1 coupon and you can get some overage with the $4 on any 2 Rolaids, $1 any Carefree, $2 on any Dove deodorant, and $1.50 any TGIF snacks.

    • Savemoneysam

Thanks for adding this! Normally I print out the 40 pages every other week and try to match coupons myself… huge headache! I haven't checked this week, but after a $1/1 Q, Sure Deodorant should be less than $0.40. I don't think it's “on sale”, but they have a consistent low price on this. I know because I keep my Dad's closet stocked with it, it's the only non-scented deo that he likes :)

    • Zjustine

WOOHOO!!!!!! This is FANTASTIC! THANK YOU for adding this list :D

    • Mi7chelle

This is so GREAT!!! Thank you so much!!!!!!!!! :)

    • JaimeMarie

“The do accept Walgreens Register Rewards on top of other coupons.”

Is this correct? If it is that would be so awesome!!!

      • Daniandmichael

The DECA sent out an email that said that they would take Walgreens Register Rewards as long as they do not state that they have to be used at Walgreens ONLY.
        :)

        • JaimeMarie

Oh that is SO awesome!!!! I need to sign up for DECA emails!

        • JaimeMarie

Tested a RR out yesterday and it worked just fine at the Commissary!!! Total before coupons was $98.18, coupon savings of $53 ($10 in RR!) for a total of $43.18 for about 2 weeks worth of groceries!!!

    • olisk8sis

Do they take other stores coupons, such as publix, Target…ect.?

      • Olivia B
      • RobinB78

No. If it is a “store specific” coupons they will not take it. But say, your print a manufacturer's coupon from the Target website, they WILL take that, but be prepared to speak to the manager, as most cashiers don't seem to know the policy that it's still a MFR Q not a store Q just because it has a logo on it.

    • Olivia

Hey jenny, This might me helpful its there offical coupon policy…..

      http://www.commissaries.com/documents/contact_deca/faqs/coupon_use.cfm

    • Morgan642

Awesome! Thanks for adding the commissary!

    • Ileana

Were do I log in to find the full list?

This is great. This is were I use to shop with my parents prior to finding Southern Savers.

    • I found a coupon at the commissary for get 1 FREE Strongholder Party Cups 20ct 16oz when you buy any 2 Chinet Paper Plates. I had 2 printable Chinet coupons from signing up for club Chinet online for $1 off Any Chinet Product so I got the plates and the free cups for a little over 3 bucks

    • thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! for adding the commissary! :D

    • Queenthatiam

thanks so much for adding this to your list. I do have to say that since I have started to shop at Publix, I rarely go to the commissary. Also I want to say that if any one still have any of the Schick Hydro Razors that expire today (6/12), I found the Hydro 3, for only $5 and the Hydro 5 for only $5.50. The first time I went I did not see a space for it, but I when I went back a couple of days later, low and behold, they were there, just waiting for me to buy them…lol. If you don't see them make sure you ask, if they have them in the warehouse. You never know

    • RUTH

Thanks so much for adding the commissary. I only go about once or twice a month because when I shop there, I spend about 3 hours trying to match sales with coupons. I used to save about 18-21% with coupons, but in the past two months since learning about southernsavers.com, I have brought my savings up to 48-52%. Publix is great, but I love the commissary!

    • Becky

Someone told me that the Ft. Benning Commissary take EXPIRED coupons! Does anyone know if this true?

      • RobinB78

No. This is not true. The only commissaries that accept expired coupons are the ones located over seas. Commissaries in the USA will not accept the expired ones. But a lot of CONUS commissaries do seem to have a place or person to drop off your expired ones so they can be shipped to the commissaries overseas for other service men and women and their families to use. :-)

        • Sabrina

Is there a way that we can send our expired coupons to our fellow military families over seas? I know I sometimes throw coupons out (which I hate to do) because I'm just not fantastic at using them yet. I'm still learning, so sometimes I miss things when they're on sale and the q expires before it comes back on sale again. I'd love to have the opportunity to give them to someone, anyone, who still has the chance to use it.

          • RobinB78

            Sabrina-
YES you can do that! I don't have the info on me right now, but there are several organizations out there that collect coupons to send to the service members! I would google “sending expired coupons to the troops” to get started! Or you can ask your local USO or VFW if they have a program like that!! And if we happen to get sent overseas soon (we're hoping!) I'll even send you my new addy and you can send them to me! LOL :-)

      • My family is military and I live in Columbus. I can tell you they will not take expired. Also they are no longer giving overage. They are told to adjust the coupon down.

        • Clarissa

As long as it is a commissary (DECA) they should allow overage. The commissary is not “for profit” so if they adjust down a coupon they end up making a profit from the coupon. It is also listed in their coupon policy that they do allow for overage. Please check out pg 44 (top of the page)

          http://www.commissaries.com/inside_deca/publications/directives/DeCAD40_6_JN2007.pdf

“n. Valid coupons will be entered at the value stated on the coupon. If the value of the coupon exceeds the cost of the product, the customer will be given the full value of the coupon.”

You can also check out the commissary’s coupon policy at afullcup on the military commissary forum.

    • Susan

Thank you so much! Like others have said, I don't shop at the commissary as much now that I shop at Publix. I usually run to the commissary ever 2 month to get items that I have not been able to stock up on. I too have spent time trying to make a list and match up coupons before I go.

    • Dani

      Wahoo!!!!

    • Carolhaithcox

Is there anywhere I can get military coupons on line? Thanks for all you do. This site is wonderful. Happy birthday # 2 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have not had my first birthday yet with the coupons and having great fun and success.

      • diane

I get my military store coupons from the store itself. they have a magazine call Eat Healthy that has a bunch of q's as well as another booklet full of coupons and prices of certain items! Hope this helps!

btw: can you stack coupons at the commisary? I know you can at the NEX!

        • RobinB78

NO! You cannot stack coupons at the commissary. NEX, MCCS and AAFES are seperate entities from DeCA. The exchanges mark up their prices much like an ordinary store, and therefore have the revenue to allow stacking coupons. The commissary however, sells everything at cost. The ONLY revenue the commissary receives from us shoppers is the 5% surcharge that's added to the total bill. Therefore, the commissary doesn't have the funds to cover stacked or doubled coupons. Hope it helps!!

          • RobinB78

Side note: SOMETIMES a certain manufacturer will allow the commissary to run specials where you will be allowed to use more than one coupon on a particular item. However, IF this happens, typically there will be a rep from the manufacturer or a commissary manager handing out the alloted number of coupons when you pick up the product. :-)

        • Tfulton0513

At my commissary they allow stacking of military coupons and manufacter coupons.

      • RobinB78

        Carol-
You can go to the commissaries dot com website, they have DeCA and military exclusive coupons to print there! :-)

    • Lacy052290

      FYI
this is a quote from the commissary website
      “Caution
DoD Instruction 1330.17 prohibits the dissemination of commissary product prices in or on any media intended to leave the commissary store. Product prices displayed on this web page are provided solely for the benefit of commissary patrons and are not intended to leave this “virtual commissary.” Sharing of these prices or price lists with others not authorized to shop in the commissary, or sharing them with someone who intends to publish them in a manner inconsistent with DoD Instruction 1330.17 may be considered to be an abuse of commissary privileges and may subject the patron to the penalties outlined in the Instruction.”

      • mj

Hence the reason she listed the % off (available to the general public) and not the actual dollar amount.

    • A Marsrow

Thank you, Jenny and Lori. This is very helpful.

    • Tracygene

Thanks for the hard work. It helps so much to have a game plan!

    • mj

I'm happy you added the commissary, but the % off numbers don't mean much to me if I don't know their original prices (yes, I'll login to the commissary website and get the actual price… but that takes away from the convenience of a shopping list like this).. And I thought the commissary rule regarding publishing prices was meant as a warning for people who wanted to advertise the price… didn't think it pertained to blogs. Oh well.

And just to be clear, I really do appreciate your hard work, I just wanted to give you my honest feedback. Great idea to add the commissary, but kinda pointless if I can't see the numbers.

    • Danielle

Just want to say thank you thank you! I will be taking advantage of the Fort Benning Commissary now! Thanks again!

    • SouthDutch

Thank you for the list! I did want to add that not all commissaries take internet coupons. The one at Ft. Drum will not.

      • Mja

They are actually suppose to take internet coupons. Found this on the site that you can take in with you:

Can I use coupons generated from the Internet in a commissary?

Yes, commissaries gladly accept Internet or home-printed coupons provided they meet the following requirements – the coupons must have a typical barcode and Product Identification Number (PIN) or GS1 DataBar. A Dot Scan Barcode may appear below the expiration date, but is only required if stated on the coupon, e.g., “Do not accept without a Dot Scan Barcode below the expiration date.” Internet coupons cannot be accepted for free products, however, “Buy One Get One Free” coupons are acceptable if they meet all other requirements.

I got it from here: http://www.commissaries.com/documents/contact_d

    • Thanks so much for adding commissaries to your list! The %s are a bit confusing but I understand why. What a great help! I didn't even realize they had advertised sales on specific items.

      • shellito1012

Angela, if you have benefits, you can go to the commissary's web site and long in to the Savings Aisle. They will list the actual prices for you once you are logged in.

    • Amynron

The commisary at Robins AFB WILL take internet printed coupon, however, they will NOT take buy/get free coupons. Which is crazy to me because they give them out in “military commisary only” coupon flyers! ???

      • shellito1012

Have you tried taking in a copy of DECA's policy on that? I haven't read it lately, but the last I did, it clearly stated that they will take b1g1 free coupons. The commissary at Redstone is cracking down on Internet coupons. They will not take a Internet B!G! coupon at all. And if a coupon beeps, they automatically will not take (overide it) even if they know you purchased the item. They say too many people are apparently copying Internet coupons….so frustrating for the honest ones!

      • Mja

I have used B1G1 free coupons at many different commissaries without issue at all. In fact I used some last week at the one in Mayport, Fl. You can go here: http://www.commissaries.com/documents/contact_d… and see what it says plus take it to them and show them. it does have to meet some requirements though

      • RobinB78

The official DeCA policy is that they will take internet printed q's EXCEPT for ones that are for free items that you print at home. BOGO internet q's are accepted, as are ones printed for the commissary, or straight from the manufacturer.

      • Whiskeygirljax

See my post above. If you have a problem or want to confirm what I wrote just send them an email. They will respond right back and correct the commissary that is making the error. :-)

      • Clarissa

You can use a B1G1 Q but you can't use another Q in addition to it. It is considered “stacking” at the commissary. I wrote to DECA about it and that is the response that I got.

    • Vmieir

Thank you for adding the commisary, I always shop there first then pick up the best deals at CVS, Walgreens, Albertsons and Publix, I have cut my grocery bill in half and have a stocked pantry and fridge, I love your site and recommend it to everyone. Keep up the good work I know I really appreciate it.

    • Redstone Arsenal will NOT take B1G1 Internet coupons. Also, if an Internet coupon beeps, they WILL NOT take it. They will not override it – it doesn't matter that you purchased the item or not. This was recently told to my husband. So, we are going to put our Internet groceries last so that if a problem arises, we can have them take it out….

    • Annie

I am so excited you are adding this!!! You are awesome Jenny!

    • Amanda

Take your pantene coupons w/ you!!! It is $1.99 each w/ a coupon attached to bottle, B2 get a styling item free. I got shampoo, cond. & hairspray for $1.48. Awesome!!!!

    • Sabrina

Thank you SO MUCH from all of the military families trying to stretch our limited income! The commissary is a great benefit if you know how to use coupons. This will take some of the work out and make life so much easier for all of the busy military spouses. We all truly appreciation being recognized.

    • Pam

Thank you so much for adding the commissary ad!

    • Tiffany

ooohhh!! I'm so excited that your bringing out the commissary ad! This will help us military family so much!

    • Suzie

Can you stack coupons at the Commissary?

    • ACW

      Love this! :)

    • WoundedWarriorWife

      YAY! Thanks so much!

    • Whiskeygirljax

Fisher's Nuts at Mayport commissary are $1.19 for the can of peanuts. With the $1 off coupon they are only $.19.

Regarding printed coupons, I wrote to the commissary from their site and was told that the commissarys should be taking all coupons regardless if they are printed off not matter what site they are from as long as they state manufacture coupon. I had one cashier in particular that kept telling me that they don't except printed off SmartSource coupons when EVERY other cashier was taking them.

    • YAY!!! I looked in the other stores column and saw the commissary!!! So excited!

    • Michelle

Bull's Eye BBQ sauce on sale for $1.25 bottle and there is a coupon you can print off from SoutherSavers site for $1.00 off.

    • jbourque

So cool of u to add this…ive been waiting! Ive been saving so much MORE now!!!

    • Newsforsue

thanks for adding the commissary info. Can't wait to start saving even more when I shop. I love the commissary and find it to beat a lot of other stores. Like others I shop commissary and pick up the great deals at CVS, Walgreens, Publix and BiLo. Thanks again.

    • heather

we are stationed at ft.bragg, and are blessed with a food lion and teeter. i always just bite the bullet and go to the teeter. does anyone have any tips for shopping at the commissary? i am also so nervous to go:(

    • Annie

Awesome Im thrilled this store is back!!!! I'm back to only shopping at the Commissary after speaking with the manager here at Benning. He finally explained it to me….how Publix and walmart can sale for cheaper some times. Bascially DECA gets it at whoesale and sales it for that. But the other stores can sale sometimes for cheaper because they know you will never just leave with that ONE or TWO cheap things- those stores make up the loss on those other things we buy. Also if the Commissary doesn't have something you want, I know here at Benning the manager said to just ask and they will try to stock it!
