    • gardengirl

      Thanks Jenny!

    • Ilovewdw

Hope my paper gets Optifree! That would be great.

    • theeg

      Thanks!!!!

    • Bamabobbie

Just hope to get both in the Birmingham News. I have complained to everyone at the news with no avail for not getting my Red Plum in last Sunday's paper.

      • Ilovewdw

Yes Bhm Paper stuck it to me last week. I get the Mont Adv but buy Bhm News at Newstand on the way home from church. Very disappointed. I think my “budget” for coupons will be better spent ordering the inserts I want. Just placed an order with couponsandthingsbydede.com hopefully itll work. I needed some of the better coupons since I just started so I ordered a lot of loose ones for pantry goods too.

        • Lenad

I have been using couponsandthingsbydede for a couple of months. Safe, secure, fast. Never had a problem with them. It saves time and money. Especially because around here the papers have started to not carry all inserts. One paper will carry the smartsource, the other the red plum, the other p&g. I am not going to go searching all the papers and buying all of them just to get all inserts that are coming out that week. Don't know what is up with the papers lately, but since I don't even really read them, it's a waste of time and money. ordering online I can buy whole inserts or just the coupons I want in the quantity that I want. Much better.

      • wendyc33

i never get a redplum hardly in my bham paper either. it costs to much to not get it. and i have also complained, but they dont care. I would like to know if anyone buys the whole inserts online. and if they do how much does a whole insert cost? and do you get all the coupons listed?

        • Tigress1321

I personaly have not gotten the whole inserts from on line but I get the AJC however had heard of people doing this and you can buy the whole insert if you wish or just certain ones I believe coupon clippers is a good one but don't quote me on that and I don't believe the whole inserts are too too expensive.

        • Jody

I don't seem to get the “good” coupons in my inserts so I use Coupon Traders. There is a link to the website on the bottom right of this page.

        • Pam

I have actually ordered whole inserts online. They are anywhere from $0.30-$0.50 each usually, which is pretty cheap, considering. However, the only “con” is the shipping. It's usually about $5.25 when we order. What my friends and I do to off-set that is that we all order together, and split the shipping. Doing it that way, we end up with no more in the inserts than we had in the newspaper. Of course, they don't arrive until about Wednesday….so sometimes the “good deals” are sold out by then!

          • Kb

if you order from wholecouponinserts.com you can order as early as friday morning and they ship that day…..I have done this and get mine monday. you might even be able to order thursday and get them saturday before most sales start!!!

      • Cathy

I've been having the same problem, I live in Holly Pond and the last few weeks there have been missing coupon inserts. Its a shame since they cost $2.00 each, I usuall try and get 3 or more.

      • a few months ago, i purchased the bham news at publix at lee branch and it had the previous week's coupons in it. i looked online for who to contact and sent it to someone in the marketing department who forwarded to the correct person. they hand delivered a new paper to my house the next day. now i always buy my paper at the dollar tree on valleydale rd (or on 280 by lowes but they usually sell out before noon). and i ALWAYS check each paper to make sure the correct inserts are there. sure enough, a few weeks ago, one paper i was checking through had the previous week's coupons it it. i told the cashier and i think she ended up buying it b/c they were sold out before she could buy one that day.

      • Lazyleah78

I had problems with the Bham news from the paper boxes, but I changed to home delivery and haven't had any problems getting the inserts. Sometimes my paper hasn't been delivered, but you can call an automated number and they'll send one out again that day or the next. It's been much better than taking my chances with the papers from the boxes.

        • Bamabobbie

My home delivery is what I'm having problems with and everyone else I know around me is to.

    • Sure hope the $3 Alka-Seltzer is in the Greenville News… It's a possible money maker at Rite Aid soon…

Also glad for the new BOGO Axe coupon, since the current one is expiring. Hopefully there will be a great sale to match it with.

    • lynn

Yeah, I don't know what's going on with newspapers lately. Our paper, The Gadsden Times, has quit carrying Smart Source period. Wonder what's up?

    • me

do both smart source and red plum come out each week? i just started doing this, and my paper only had red plum.

      • Mlavender82

It varies week to week. If you scroll to the very bottom of the page, there will be an index of Jenny's articles– one of which is the 2010 coupon insert schedule. There you can see which inserts are coming out which weeks. It's really helpful b/c then you know when to buy extra papers.

    • I have just started buying online whole inserts. I like it because i am not driving trying to find the paper or disappointed when they are not caring the insert or high dollar Q. Yeah it takes 3 extra days. But i am not as stressed and i can enjoy my day off with my family and go to church not distracted about the “I have to get to the bookstore to get my paper by 12” attitude. And my huddy is relaxed too. Who cares if i miss a couple of sells they will be back around.

      • Ralph8262001

Where do you order the inserts?

      • Mlavender82

Yeah, that sounds awesome! Where online do you get them?

      • Dixie ;o0)

        where

      • Donna

Great idea, Nancy! I'm starting to do the same now too. :)

For those wanting to know where to buy the inserts, read Jenny's post on Extreme Couponing 101 – she has a section about her favorite clipping where you can get clipped coupons OR the whole inserts:

        http://www.southernsavers.com/2008/08/extreme-couponer-101-clipping-services/

      • Bamabobbie

Your idea sounds good to me. Can't hardly enjoy church for thinking about going shopping and upset because I didn't get a coupon insert. I'm getting stressed out!!! LOL Think it's time for me to take a break.

    • Michelle Z

Would you consider bolding the super duper coupons (e.g. $5 off razors etc), the ones that will most likely end up being a freebie? It sure would help me rather than reading the whole list. Thanks for everything you do – been doing this a year and i love your site.

      • Shaunascoupons

I really have found it useful to look through the coupons myself. EVERYONE has their own family favorites and coupons that they would hate to overlook. Here is what I thought was great this week:

$2 off Mail in Rebate wyb Guinness
50/1 Newman’s Own Pasta sauce, Salsa, Lemonade, Marinade, Popcorn or cereal (exp 12/4)
        .40/1 Progresso broth (exp 12/18)
        .50/1 Land O Lakes Eggs (exp 12/24)
        .50/1 Carolina Rice (exp 1/31/11)

I am especially excited about the eggs coupon! with doubling that will make for some cheap cheap egg whites perfect for healthy eating!

    • Jewel2862
    • Ridgewayg

I am not receiving the daily emails even thought I am subscribed

    • vicki

I have been “looking around” on groupon.com this morning. Found some internet deals you all might want to check out! Some good deals out there. I will list the cities with their deals but please keep in mind that some were found as side deals. Take a look at the right side if it isn’t an internet deal at that particular cities site. Hope you find something you can use.

      DAYTON (umm>>brownies)
      HOUSTON
      CEDAR RAPIDS (cookies !!)
BAKERSFIELD (beautiful jewlry, great prices too)
      MADISON
      OTTAWA
      SAN ANTONIO
      TORONTO
      TULSA
      VANCOUVER
      WICHITA

    • Bamabobbie

Well, I finally talked to someone at the Birmingham News that told me if I had any more problems to call in and give the number off the acadamy wrapper that the coupon inserts and ads are in. She said that the machine should not be making that many mistakes in one area. We'll see what happens.

      • Tammya6688

I live in Birmingham as well and this is exactly why we quit the home delivery of the paper. The coupons were only there maybe half of the time. We just buy one from the store now when we shop..(and you have to check them too to make sure they are there).

    • Denise Love

I am extremely new to this. Is there ANY advice as to how i start all this so that I may begin to save big time myself lol. I'm a single mom on a tight budget as it is and really would like to know and undrstand this.

      • Bamabobbie

Just look arnd on Jenny's site for tips is about all I can say. She does advise to start small. Good luck.

        • Buzybee8

Look on the “Learn to Coupon” tab above and also read people's comments in every section your in. When I was new at this, the questions others asked were questions I had also or things I didn't think of but found out about. Also, hip2save is another great site and Jenny's to get you started. They both make it very easy.

      • Kimgreer_1

i would love to help you just if i knew how to get a hold of you its verry eeasy just all you have to do is just keep up with this site and go to a class

      • itismedia

Start at one grocery store that doubles coupons. Just go there for a few weeks and get the hang of it. If you have a Publix this is the BEST place to get most everything (except meat). They have wonderful BOGO (Buy one get one) items every week and double coupons. They also take competitor coupons. Just chek with customer service to see who your store considers a competitor. Watch all of Jenny's videos under “Learn to Coupon”, ask questions on the boards, etc… After you have one store down, add another. The most complicated are the pharmacy stores like CVS. That takes multiple purchases and practice. Stay away from Wal-Mart! They are too expensive and do not double coupons. Aim for saving 50% each week to start. It is nothing to eventually save 80-90% as you get better. Hope some of this helps and seriously, ask questions and watch the videos! =+)

      • Cindy

I saw a great post about saving up to 90%. I'd reccommend you start with a goal of < 50% or 50% on 'non-essentials” (Milk, Eggs, Bread-I've found these items are harder to find Q's for- at least in the Tenn. Valley Area ;-).

I shoot for 30% off my entire bill and I started with 20% (Now I try and save 20 w/ Q's only). I am organizationally challenged so the woman-hours to save 80-90% are just beyond my capabilities now, maybe one day.

I'd also like to reccommend you start stockpiling (see the Q101 on this site) with simple stuff like Dental Floss (usually can get it for free w/ Q's) and it takes up little space, plus-it's an essential “non-essential”.

        Good Luck saving $!

    • Caren

I really hope I get all the Redplum coupons this week. I have been looking for some Axe coupons and hadn't found any until today. Dollar General has Q on their website for $1.00 off. That combined with the MQ will be a sweet deal.

      • Caren

NVM about using a MQ and a store coupon on one item @ DG. Found out tonight they won't let you use 2 coupons on one item even if one is a store Q and one is a MQ. Kinda stunk. I also had a coupon for $1/1 Tilex. I bought 2 Tilex and had 2 Q and they also wouldn't let me use 2 Tilex coupons even though I bought 2 products. I'm not real happy with Dollar General right now. I had $4.50 worth of coupons they wouldn't let me use because of those 2 “rules.”

        • Je5984

i am a dg assistant manager and this is not a policy. as long as u are using coupons correctly there is no limit on how many u can us as long as u are buying that much product. call corp. and tell them they are refusing ur MQ.

    • Anniewhite

My Dollar General will not let me use 2 coupons (Highland Home Al) I don't even go there I go to Freds on Sat.they will double up to .70

      • Bsgaskin

Dollar General was not good to me either. I had a $5 off $25 and they would not allow their own coupons to use with it. I will not return to Dollar General again.

        • destiny777

I went to Dollar General today and the lady ringing me up saw that I had the $5 off $25 coupon and store coupons and manufacturer coupons. She told me that the only way the computer would take them was if she rang the store coupons first, then the $5 off coupon and then the manufacturer coupons. I have been in before with tellers that do it in a different order and then the computer system will not allow them to input store coupons after the $5 off coupon. It is very frustrating, but I was thankful for the teller today that knew what to do so that I got to use all my coupons.

          • michelle

i went to dg thursday night and used $5 off $25 and my other coupons, no problem. then I had another coupon and went to a different dg on saturday and they would not take the $5 off $25 and my other coupons too, and then for one of the glade coupons that I bought coupon would not accept. So they were like it won't take, so I told them to just cancel the order. I will not shop at this dg anymore. This was my first time shopping dg with coupons.

    • I love wholecouponinserts.com I get the complete inserts for .50 or less. The coupons are from Florida, they seem to have the better coupons. I get them in Mondays mail. Never had a problem, unlike other services.

    • Cindy

I have a friend who buys Inserts on Ebay. I don't know anything about it-anyone have input about buying Ebay Inserts? She says she saves LOADS that way (can get 6-8 inserts for I think $2).

      Thanks

      • EK

Absolutely! Go on ebay and search under whatever coupon you are interested in, i.e. cake mix coupons or dog treat coupons and you can sometimes purchase 20 coupons for .99 + 1.00 shipping. It adds up big time.

    • Danielle

The papers I picked up today in Dothan, AL did not have any coupons in them. My friend in Augusta, GA, said the papers she got had none either. Did you experience this? Did anyone else?

    • luci10

Lots of ads instead of coupons, newsstand copy Clarion Ledger in Jackson area. Did get some not on the list.

In SmartSource got Phillips, Progresso, Ziploc, Red Baron, Air Wick, Zicam. Others are .50/1 Argo Baking Powder, .50/2 Green Giant canned corn, peas, or green beans,$5/1 Luster 1 Hour White, $2/1 Luster Weekend White, $1.50/1 Finish Quantum, $3/1 Any Woolite Detergent 50 oz or lg, $1/1 mirra Treatments Item, $1/1 mirra Renew Item, $4/2 Olive Garden Dinner Entrees, $2/2 Olive Garden Lunch Entrees, $1/1 White Cloud or White Cloud GreenEarth Product, Chuck E. Cheese Qs

In RedPlum got Loreal and Hillshire. Others are .50/1 Mahatma or WaterMaid Rce, .75/2 Mahatma Rice Mixes, $1/1 Emerald Breakfast on the Go Trail Mix 10.86oz, $1/2 any Brian products, .50/1 Bryan Smoked Sausage.

Does anyone get something different in the home delivery? This paper delivers statewide.

    • Donna

It seems like the SS & RP here in Charleston have always had a lot more “ads” for stuff and we miss out on a lot of the good coupons, but some weeks are ok and some not as good.

I've started using coupons by dede too:

      http://www.couponsthingsbydede.com/

I ordered some on Thursday at the crack of dawn (insomnia, what better thing to occupy the time other than couponing! lol) and she shipped the same day. I got just the regular first class shipping and they got here yesterday, so I still have time to get this week's grocery sales with them. I got about $6 worth including shipping (equal to 3 newspapers), but have at least 5 of each coupon I needed (and a few I got 10 of). In short, I got more coupons that I *KNOW* I will use vs. a few inserts that may have a bunch of stuff that I know I won't use with a few good ones sprinkled in (if the newspaper even has the ones I wanted).

Definitely the way I'm going to coupon in the future. Highly recommend this coupon service! Thanks, Jenny! :)

      • Amanda

Our inserts are the same. We never have a ton of coupons, only as seen on tv junk. lol

        • Donna

lol – that's exactly the kind of ads they are – I hate that! Before I found Southern Savers, that's why I tended to think coupons were all junk because there just weren't that many good ones in our newspaper.

At least I've seen the light now & we have better ways of finding the best coupons! :)

    • Kriste3

My area didn't get no coupons .. I don't know why .. where did the axe coupons come out at ? .. we never get those!

    • Amanda

In the Ft. Myers, Fl area here. My husband bought one paper and it had 2 red plum and no SS, went out later and looked through 2 different papers and neither had a SS. Just order some off ebay, it's actually cheaper than buying papers as long as they ship fast I will probably do this from now on. Oh and my first paper had NO sales flyers, not one. The papers he looked through later didn't have any CVS or Walgreens.

    • Jen

Anyone know who to contact at The Tennessean about missing coupon inserts? I don't have a subscription but am tired of going to buy a paper only to find out that either there are NO inserts or only 1 out of 2 or 3 that should be in there.
This is no longer something that happens once in awhile but is happening every single week with the paper.

I just found that L'Oreal's website has higher value printable coupons than the ones in the paper for revitalift $3 and root rescue $2. They also have $1 off Feria, $1 off Go 360 clean and a $1 off any Loreal item.

You have to become a member to print them.

    • Ok, so I have a question about the Axe B1G1 coupons, actually B1G1 coupons in general. Can I use 2 of these on 2 items and get them both free? Or can I only use 1 coupon per 2 items? Help!!!

Did anyone who bought the Knoxville News Sentinel receive the Redplum insert?

    • Cyoung2110

Terribly disappointed…. Florida Times Union didn't have Red Plum this week. Total bummer.

    • DuncanMomof2

My paper (from the Walgreens in Duncan, SC) only had the redplum insert in it. Disappointed!
