A big weekend is coming soon at CVS. The Black Friday deals have been up for a few days now, but I was waiting until we got final word on the coupons coming this weekend to make any deal ideas. It’s officially time to start planning now. The deals below mostly only include the free items. The bottom deal throws in a hair dryer too, and you still come out $11 ahead!

Check out all deals in the CVS Black Friday Ad.

Normally I would try to get everything into 4 deals or less, but to reduce out of pocket expenses this has a few extra. Please be sweet and jump to the back of the line if someone comes up behind you and isn’t doing what you are doing.

Deal Idea for New CVS Shoppers

  • Start by Registering your card for CVS emails — you will get a $4 off $20 coupon emailed to you. Note: Please don’t register until this Sunday or you run the risk of your coupon expiring this week.

I’m already scared to tell someone who is just starting out to do four deals, but this includes all of the free items. You are still allowed 3 more Revlon nail polishes, but I doubt you have more coupons and 2 more Irish Spring Deodorants. You’ve done great though and it’s best to just go home now… If the ECB’s are burning a whole in your pocket use them towards some of the gift card promotion items so that you get some Christmas gifts covered and get a gift card back.

My Deal Idea – More Advanced Shoppers

    • FABULOUS!! Let’s rock n roll!!

      • Katie

I am also a huge chicken and don’t need a lot of stuff on the “big transaction” list.  Does it make sense to just buy a few things on the list even if you have to pay more out of pocket?  I am still making a profit with ECB’s and I have a gc left over.  It ends up that I’m going to pay about $16 for $27 worth of stuff before ECB’s .  I just haven’t ever done CVS before, I’m a Rite Aid girl…

    • kristin

so excited! thank you so much for putting this together!

    • AMY

I have been checking back all day for this. Thank you!!!!

    • Couponingga

Yeah so, you just plain rock!!!  Thank you for this!!  So excited!!

    • Kristy

Jenny- you just made my day! I was going to sit down later but now I dont have to!

    • Yockey11

I’m starting with a $10 gift card from this week and $3 ecb! I’m so excited that I have learned enough over the last year and a half to come up with my own scenario. (And it is remarkably similar.) Jenny, thank you so much for all that you do! Happy Holidays!

    • Lucy

It’s coupon fraud to use the CVS Breathe Right Strips coupon along with a manufacturer’s coupon.  The CVS coupon specifically states:  “Cannot be combined with any other coupon.”

      • Sarahbeth1210

I really think the “any other coupon” means any other cvs coupon!  I would just ask a manager.

        • Lucy

Unfortunately, we don’t get to choose which way we’d like to obey coupon rules.  I guess when we want to have it work to our advantage we try to make it appear like CVS really meant to write “cannot be combined with any other CVS coupon” but forgot.

Ethical couponing is ethical couponing not lapse of judgment when we want the few $ in our pockets.  Instead of putting the store cashier or manager in the position of accepting the coupon and having the posibility of having the coupon payment rejected by the clearing house, wouldn’t it be easier for you, the couponer, to take the initiative to follow the terms of the coupon?

          • Anonymous

            Wooahhh now, simmer down.

            • Guest

I have yet to see any store’s coupon policy that states you can’t use two coupons on one item if one of them states “CAN NOT BE USED WITH ANY OTHER COUPON!” I think if they, the store, meant that that is what they would have stated. Instead it DOES state that you CAN use one store and one Manufacturer Q on one item, PERIOD. So, Lucy do you have a problem with stores that double coupons even though the coupon states “DO NOT DOUBLE”, ummmm? I am sure you don’t. Using one’s judgement is a funny concept, because that my friend varies from person to person. Yours may very well differ from mine and mine from yours. If YOU don’t feel comfortable using your coupons then DON’T. I, however will use my coupon along with another because I feel there is nothing wrong with it. Maybe, stores should become more specific with their coupon verbage but I have to place my bet that 95% of the couponers out there knows that means one like coupon per item. Sorry, that some people need blanks filled in in between the lines because they are unable to do so themselves….Happy Couponing Lucy, and Happy Thanksgiving!

            • Michelle

Again, same rude person, same cowardly “Guest” log-in name.  The tone of this sounds like that guy Chris that used to be on here.  In any case, if you have something to say, don’t hide behind anonimity.

            • Guest oops! Dee in AL

And knowing the name does what Michelle??? Michelle who from where, if thats who YOU really are? Do you really think that every post that has “guest” for the log-in name is actually the same person. Whatever!!! You and Lucy must be related. I take it you won’t be using any of the suggestions presented here, right??? But yet you obviously frequent this site, right!!!??? Don’t all people make mistakes, ummm???? And as a couponer don’t we all know that although coporate has these policies we still see that stores allow some things while others don’t, mainly because of the way the managers interpret the policies, right???? So do what’s best for you and please enjoy your holidays and find another high horse to ride into the sunset in because you need to get off of this one!

      • jennaj81

I think that means you can’t use another of the same coupon for the item. I’ve seen that wording on many coupons (store and manufacturer). But beware, some cashiers take it to the extreme. Recently I was at Dollar General and the cashier wouldn’t let me use more than 1 coupon for the whole transaction because of that. And I’m talking about DIFFERENT coupons for DIFFERENT items! Crazy.

    • Stacie

Where do you get he Reinventing Beauty Magazine?

    • Betty

       Thank you!!! : )

    • KEB2009

i see lots of shelf clearing with people buying stuff they don’t need just to get ecb’s back. all the while the people that ACTUALLY need said product will be out of luck. remember, its better to give then receive. give the gift of not clearing the shelves (or even making it close to clean!)

      • Squirrellyec

one of the reasons I love CVS is because it limits how many items you can use to get ECBs.  Jenny posts the limits next to the items.  Unfortunately, my small town still sees shelf clearing because they have limited quantities in stock.

        • KEB2009

while true, even with limits people are still going to buy things they don’t need just to get ecb’s. and then you have john q public that walks in looking for some breathe right strips and can’t find any cause people who don’t need them bought them just to get an ecb back!

          • Anonymous

I see no problem with buying a product if I don’t need it. It’s a free country! Again, CVS has limit 1 on almost all the good deals and I feel like if I am putting in the time and effort to play the “game”, I deserve it! And I donate the items I don’t use.

          • Anonymous

            • KEB2009

LOL! did you really just play the “free country card” in reference to coupons?!

            • Anonymous

              Why yes I did. :D

            • Crsytalsblueyes

I Feel the same way!! “Free country” Get there before I do!! I can’t stand people that are like that. It takes a lot of time and effort to do couponing and if they are offering it for free and I get it … That is my choice!! as long as its in the limits!! but on the other hand cleared shelfs are so disappointing!!

          • RB

I try really hard not to buy things I won’t use, but if it makes me money and I’m only buying one…I don’t think it is wrong.  I see what you are saying, but again I try not to buy it if I know I will never use it or don’t know someone who can.  My daddy, for example, uses the Breathe Right strips when he is sick and they help him sleep, so I will be getting these.

          • Anonymous

I don’t normally buy things I don’t need just for the ecbs, but there are exceptions. My son’s class is doing a food drive for a local food bank, I sent 2 walmart bags full from my charity box of items. If I do make a purchase of something I might not use I make sure I can donate it or a neighbor can use it. Our elderly neighbor needs ostiobiflex but can’t afford it. When I can get a great deal on it I get a couple of bottles and take it to him.

    • A_shrader

Last year, my CVS limited 2 transactions per person before you had to go to the back of the line, to make sure everyone had a chance.  It worked well and everyone was nice :)

    • Shannon

Wow! This is awesome! I can hardly wait!!!

    • Rorokoz

where do you get the cvs beauty mag.?

      • In my store it is near the make up.  The current issue has Reese Witherspoon on the cover (or whatever her name is now.)

    • Rae

“it’s best to just go home now” is my favorite line from the whole post. LOVE YOU JENNY! MANY BLESSINGS TO YOUR AND YOUR FAMILY THIS HOLIDAY SEASON!!

    • C Shay

Don’t know about anyone else, but I just checked my extra care account to see how close I was on the beauty club and found a 5 off 25 good until the 26th.

      • AdiHays

Me too! Thanks for sharing this

        • Anonymous

I did too, plus I had $5 from my beauty club.

      • AdiHays

Me too! Thanks for sharing this

      • Anonymous

FYI I received two 5/25.  One was good until 11/24 and one until 11/26.  When I saved to my card, they both are now dated 11/24 so I guess I will do all my shopping on Thursday.  You may want to wait until closer to 11/24 before saving to your card if you want it good until 11/26.

    • Lawsonleah

Just making sure I understand…this ad isn’t for all week just for black Friday….Correct? if so what time are they opening?

      • It actually starts on Thanksgiving Day either 12:01 am if your store is a 24 hour store or at varied times depending on when your store is opening.  Just call them to find out.

    • Anonymous

This is great! I only wish I had a tablet that I could take with me to make scenarios while I’m there! It seems like they are always out of something and it totally throws me off. Although I don’t usually have problems on BF but ya know.
These are great guides Jenny! I am starting with about $10 in ecbs though so I have to modify mine.

    • Unknown11505

this is freakin awesome! just wish i was gonna be near a cvs on black friday! :(((

      • Anonymous

        It starts on Thanksgiving :)

    • shenelled

in transaction 7 what do you get the $10 for when your finished?

      • Heather

Anything you want! :) You can save it for another week, or use it to buy something else in another transaction.

      • Sorry for not specifying, that $5 for the hair dryer, $4 for the revlon and $1 for the shampoo

        • Shenelled

          Thank you!

    • Meghan

Where do you get the Fall CVS Reinventing Beauty magazine?  Is that mailed to you or does your CVS have them for free?

    • AJ

Gracias!!!!   I was gathering my coupons based on the match up and was then dreading the compiling the shopping scenario part.  Thanks for doing this complicated part!!

      Many, many blessings to you!!!

    • Jenni

I have an etiquette question for everyone. Normally, when I go to CVS and have multiple transactions, I hop to the back of the line in between each. I feel like this is the right thing to do, especially if someone is standing behind me with a single item. I can’t see that being feesible on Black Friday, especially if I’m doing 8 transactions. How does everyone else plan to handle this?

      • Surfergirl8989

I was just thinking the same thing. My CVS opens at 8 on Thanksgiving and the cashier told me today that they are usually very busy! Which stinks cuz my CVS is very small and old. It wouldnt suprise me if they had 4 of everything thats in the ad. Anyway, if everyone is there and doing multiple transactions are you suppose to do all of yours or go to the back of the line after each one? I can see people getting annoyed with this quickly.

        • Tristansmommy120910

Im not going in with my hopes up. 2 weeks ago I was talking to the mgr at my cvs and she told me that there was one item that is in the black friday ad that they only had 1 of. She couldnt tell me what it was, but said it was the only one they’d get in so if someone bought it before bf then they wouldnt have any more. She also said since they are the head cvs in the area and they only have one then most likely all the other cvs’s in the area probably dont have any and cant get any

          • Surfergirl8989

Well thats incredibly depressing! Where do you live?

      • Mmoore3844

My opinion would be that nobody should have to wait in line behind someone doing 8 transactions.  If you have 8 transactions, that means that you’ve gotten everything on your list, so consider it a success and be polite.
Now if the person behind you is doing 8 transactions, that’s a whole ‘notha story, lol.

    • Lucy

Sorry folks, I just called CVS regarding the use of the CVS Breathe Right Strips coupon along with a manufacturer’s coupon.  “Katie”, the CVS customer service rep. at the CVS 1-800 # checked with her supervisor and came back with this determination: “If the coupon states that it cannot be combined with any other coupon that means it is the only coupon that can be used.  And that means that no other coupons can be used with it.”

It’s not my opinion.  It’s the opinion of CVS.

      • Guest

omg, don’t you have something else to do ?

        • Michelle

I love how people who say rude things on here ALWAYS sign in under “GUEST”.  If you have the nerve to say something rude, then have the nerve to list your name.  Don’t be a coward.

        • Trish

Don’t you????  I thought that was very thoughtful of Lucy to give us a “heads up” what could possibly happen.  It is frustrating to have everything worked out only to hit a snag at checkout.  I realize it happens but knowing of a potential hiccup can help us be prepared. I ‘m fairly certain that Lucy was not posting that as a “ha ha, you can’t do that”, but rather a  potential red flag.

      • Jenni

Thanks, Lucy, for checking on this… you’ve just saved me a phone call :) I think my confusion is coming from the fact the SouthernSavers (which is my absolute favorite couponing site) is putting forth scenarios of this kind that obviously CVS is not willing to honor. The same thing happened with a skintimate product a month or so ago. SS suggested using a CVS coupon and a Manufacturer coupon, and the CVS store would not take it. I’m just trying to figure out where the breakdown in communication is… is SS giving us incorrect/unusable scenarios, or is CVS jipping us out of a legitimate deal?

        • Shelli

It sounds to me like your CVS is jipping you out of a legitimate deal.  I remember the Skintimate deal a while back.  I was able to stack the Skintimate CVS Q with a MFR Q for a 50 cent profit.  I did this twice in separate weeks.

      • Dee in AL

Thanks ever so much Lucy for all of your hard work. Now, if only you can google each and every CVS in the U.S and tell them what us “Southern Saving” Coupon frauds have in mind and forewarn them!!! You my friend should have a cape and mask. “LUCY the Coupon Fraud Preventer”. And this was a “Ha, Ha” in return for yours! Your first post was not informative but critical and judgemental..and FYI Michelle my name is listed! And don’t forget what opinons are like….everyone has them!

    • Lucy

What is the limit on the ECB for the Revlon???… I love their nail polish :)

      • olivia

        I believe it is 6 but I am not 100% positive :)

      • It is 6.

        • Bluangel29

          Thank you

    • Kemccarthy

This makes my head spin at the thought of you putting all this together for us. You are so awesome, thanks!

    • beingjennifer

I love these lists and I admit I’m a bit chicken to do it. A part of the challenge is that I don’t get quite a few of the good coupons that are listed here. Love it though! Have a great shopping day!

    • Leslie

Can you use the $2 Benefiber Stick Pack coupon instead of the $1?

      • You can, but they will reduce the value of the coupon to price of the item.  Just a heads up.

        • Leslie

Hey thats an extra .49 so I don’t mind if they adjust it. LOL

    • cynthia

do they give you trouble when you ask them to do separate transactions?

      • Leslie

Nope never had a problem. I just tell them before they start ringing up. I think they are use to it.

        • stef3279

i have 1 CVS here in town that wont do more then 2

    • cynthia

thanks for fast response leslie. do you think they will be annoyed of this on black friday?? i need someone to go with in plantation!! :-) it will be my first time cvs shopping with coupons and ecb rewards!!

      • Leslie

I think they will be ready for it on Black Friday because of all the free deals after the ECB. Like Jenny said, just do one transaction at a time and move to the back if the line gets too long.Thats what I do normally anyways.

      • Cah34

My experience with the gals that work at CVS has been a good one. They never get annoyed at least where I live. This is a great week to start with CVS for sure and I hope you have fun with it!

    • cynthia

where do i find the fall reinviting irish spring deoderant coupon ?? :-(

      • Reinventing Beauty is a magazine sold in CVS near the makeup section.  It costs 99¢ but has $50 in coupons inside it!

        • cynthia

          COOOL :-) THANKS SO MUCH!

    • Cah34

Where can we pick up the Fall CVS reinventing beauty magazine?

      • Mcleodsc

I emailed CVS and they are mailing me one.

    • Babydoll 1999

What if I have already registered my card?  Is there any other way to get the $4 off $20?  Thanks Jenny for everything you do!!!

      • Tristansmommy120910

Check your cvs account online. I just checked mine to see if I had any coupons waiting for me and i have a $5 off $25 and $5 beauty bucks.

      • Kayla culwell

Yes, do check your account! I had two $5/$25 purchase coupons today! I printed them to use for the Oral B rechargable toothbrush deal, but they were sold out at my store. I got a raincheck, so hopefully I can find them in one of the three stores within driving distance before all the coupons for them expire.

        • LC22

thanks so much for posting this. just checked my account and found 2 ($5 off $25 coupons) who-hoo!!

    • CyndiB

I wonder does anyone know if they will give rainchecks for all the out-of-stock items during a massive sale like this one?  I can’t imagine the hand-cramps the poor cashier(s) will have, but I also really want to take advantage of these freebies because there’s a bunch of stuff I want to try out!

      • MarySC

Usually there is a “quantities limited, no rain checks” disclaimer for these short ads… I looked at the ad (on Iheartcvs dot com) but the small print at the bottom of the last page is not legible…

    • Mcclellanda79

Can anyone suggest a good time to arrive at CVS for the Thanksgiving Day sale? Anyone out their attend past sales and could tell me when a line usually starts to form?? I live in a small town with only one CVS (no other pharmacies in town).

      • Cgarciadelsolar

black Friday starts on Friday at 7 am

        • Michelle

No, it starts on Thursday, Thanksgiving day, not Friday.

      • regina marie

i live in a large city w/lots of cps’s.   last year i went to one beside a huge university and i went saturday night.   i was able to get 90% of stuff from my really long list.    for this store there are a lot of college couponers so lots of weeks i get rc, but this time b/c most of the students were gone it looked like it had barely been shopped :)

    • I have my $10 gift card that I got for $5.  So I will use this and get stocking stuffers and pay nothing!  I am just so excited!

      • Kendra

Make sure your giftcard will work. Did u order through savemore? I did and trying using mine last nite and said zero balance.

        • I did.  That would make me so upset.  I got it for this purpose!

    • Faustlisa7

Does anyone know if you can get the black friday deals the night before Thanksgiving if my CVS is not 24 hours?

      • Michelle

        no, you can’t.  Sorry.

      • Da Cpn Guru

Actually you can ONLY IF the store activates the Ad Early.  This is usually done on Saturdays the night before Sunday after 4pm.  They do this because they hang the Ad Tags early and have to honor the posted sale price.  Probably not going to happen on the “Black Thursday” ad due to the fact they dont want to run out before Thursday morning.

    • happy couponer

i am a new couponer and i have been doing 4-5 scenarios each trip. i just write out the order i am doing them before i leave the house and put my q’s in order and know what i will use the ECB’s on. just takes organization.

    • Crystalsblueyes

I was just wondering if anyone else is going to buy $4 off $20 coupons from ebay to make for even more savings…I have (2) $10 gift cards. So i was going to start with that…. Are the coupons from ebay real or illegal?? I have bought them before and they worked just fine!!

      • Michelle

Aren’t those card-specific??  How can you buy them from Ebay?

      • Nita Royal

No – sure would love to get one from CVS though – It’s been over a year!  Not sure how the Ebay ones are legal

      • Lillylizzard

u cant buy them from ebay…or i wouldnt. They are assoiated with CVS card. If You Dont Have Card You Cant Use the  Coupon. CVS send them to your email after you have registerd your card on thier web site.

    • not so organized J

Jenny (and fellow Couponers)… I have a question… I have been couponing now for over a year and I keep changing my style -that whole “find what works for you” . I have the binder + baseball card holders + small Q book + the filing system + …

      Here’s my delima…
      ** I SUBSCRIBE TO SOUTHERNSAVERS**
I can go into the store and buy what I need (or a variable type) and thus pay less (than previous) due to Q’s and sales. Do I save all 100% Q’s that I get my hands on and try miserably to keep them organized–  or–  Do I only cut what I need and (thus miss out on other “freebies” and ECB’s bc I didn’t know to save them – ya know only cutting what I need) or … ANY other suggestions other than “find what works for you” are highly encouraged.  We are in a bigger financial pinch now that my husband’s engine is blown and I don’t feel like I am being truly efficient… Please help.

      • Autumnskies0814

Hi J and keep up the good work!. I have only been couponing since March 2011, I used to only cut what I need, but as deals and moneymakers came about, I clip everything because you never know when it will be a great deal esp. with the gift cards, etc.

Lately, I have been getting the girft card deals for next to nothing and earning the $10 gift card, get the Amex one, and then save and use for gas. All my deals have come out to be money makers after the giftcard!

        • not so organized J

Thanks for the suggestions lately. I have (embarrassingly) missed out on the different gift cards due to inability to get to CVS (funny I work w/n walking distance of one and pass the other on my way home)… that being said, I have really had to scale back on purchases. I love to coupon, but it does take some $$$

          • Claudia A

I use the baseball card holders and put in it all the coupons I love and know i will use. I pull out the coupons i need the day b4 my shopping trip and put them in an envelope. I do take my coupon binder with me in case there is an unadvertised deal .
The rest I save in a clear folder with the date. this way if a coupon comes up  for something I wouldn’t normally have clipped i fish it out.

        • Hildawins

I didn’t cut out the Land O Lakes cream Q as I don’t use it.  I was on my way to Kroger, called my mom and guess what she asked me to pick up for her?  NEVER leave a coupon behind!  LOL

          • not so organized J

Speaking of, I was at my mom’s this week. We did a surprise trip to see her (out of town) and she dived into Krogers without me or my 1/2 clipped Q’s and 1/2 still in the Sunday paper. I felt bad b/c (A) I wasn’t organized and (B) of the fact she didn’t want my help and when I looked at the items, I knew I had Q’s for it. She wanted to get them NOW and not wait to see what was there (also, in the car with me was my sleeping toddler)… ugh so frustrating. If I did go in with her, I would have spent FOREVER getting them together…

      • Mcleodsc

Why clip until you need them? I store each weeks inserts in a file folder that I label with the insert date.  I store the files in a big plastic cube. I do have a folder with plastic holders for random coupons and a seperate folder to hold printables. I then use a small clear plastic pouch labeled for CVS, WAGS, & rite aid that I carry the cpns that I have clipped for a sale in to the store. Sometimes I just carry them in an envelope.

        • Nita Royal

The reason I clip everything is because I never know when I’ll find a great clearance item, or if my planned scenario will have to be redone on the fly because of items not in stock.  I work 70-80 hours/week, but the clipping and filing is a quiet, therapeutic activity for me, so I do it and take the binder everywhere.  This isn’t for everyone, I know.  Took me a few different methods before finding what was best for me.

          • Kasandra

I do this too….Keeps me from missing great deals that are on clearance

      • Diane

I have my inserts lined up in our guest room.  (any guests just have to understand)  I use a (free) sharpie to put the date on each insert – just in case they become unorganized.  I actually preferred to cut what I really wanted out and keep it with me, but this way I organize before I go out and if I get something but don’t have the Q with me, I take it back and get a refund.  It is a little frustrating but I don’t miss a deal I want that way.

      • nettie

After trying many different ways…..  I have found a way that works best for me.  I am the married mom of two year old twins and work 40 + hours a week, so my time is very limited and also I can’t have stuff laying around.  I got a plastic 21 pocket according folder.  It is durable and easy to carry around.  I get my coupons, put them in a folder with the name (RP , SS, etc) and date and then throw them in a slot.  Hope that helps!

      • Moorercoupons

I have an accordian folder organized by month. I use a black marker to write the date on my inserts and file them in the month in date and insert order.  october p&g 10-30, RP 10-30, SS 10-30. printables and other loose coupons are in a small coupon box filed by the way I shop.  (frozen foods, cleaning supplies, paper products, canned goods, breakfast.)  I use southern savers to determine what to clip for my shopping trip.  I place the clippings in ziploc bags with the name of the grocery store. and put them at the front of the accordian folder, I keep it in the trunk of my car when i go shopping.

      • Amber, NC

I no longer have time to cut out every coupon. I get 2 papers every week and only cut what I plan to buy: known sale items for that week or basic grocery necessities to be bought in the future. I label the front of each insert with the date and RP/SS/PG. Sometimes I will carry all of the inserts in a bag and leave them in the car while shopping in case I need to run and get another coupon.

      • Aaliyah707

I personally clip all the coupons, since I have started a stack to donate to military families. That way if an item goes on sale that I would use I can find the coupon. I only organize the ones I use regularly and items that I know go on sale in my binder. Only been couponing for a month or two, but I have learned oh so much from a lot of these websites.

      • Nypt68@hotmail.com

I started keeping the inserts and just going back to find the coupon in the insert as Jenny posts which insert and date the coupons are from. I too do not have time to cut and organize a binder with every coupon. I keep the ones I do cut or are not from inserts in envelopes and check em as I need.

    • Gamblesonsfarms

If I remember correctly, last year, my CVS only allowed 2 transactions and then made you go to the back of the line…which is totally fair. I just wanted to help Jenny emphasize that unless you live in a town without any other couponers, you won’t be able to stand in line and do multiple transactions.  And be prepared for there to be a shortage of items…my CVS does a GREAT job ordering for these sales…but I’m just saying….

    • josefina

friend buy the green leaf (a go green progam that promotes using less plastic bags) for $.99 cents and every 4 times you scanned it  you will get a $1.00  EB   :)

      • Abbielou02

I think (I could be wrong) it said that you can only use that leaf once a day :( Worth a try though!

    • Jennscott27

This is awesome!  Thanks so much for doing this.  I’m also super happy that there is a CVS by my mom that just opened that hardly anyone knows about.  I plan on getting when it opens : )

    • Jennscott27

To those of you concerned about buying things you won’t use…most of the things Jenny listed are things that most people would use.  Dontate it if you don’t want it.  If someone wants to purchase an item and it’s out of stock, they can go to a different store.  That happens to me all the time when I go to the grocery store…get a rain check or try a different store.  We are not doing anything wrong by purchasing things we may donate or use ourselves.  That’s like saying that you should buy two of the same toy so that you can donate one to a church or something.

      • Nita Royal

The donation idea is nice, and I have done a lot of that in the past. However, most agencies have told me that they prefer bulk quantities, large sizes, etc.
Now I prefer to leave  free items for others who really are looking for them.  When I show up to find empty shelves, I’m hoping that people aren’t just taking anything because it’s free. One small pack of something may be really helpful to me, whereas it doesn’t go far in a group home, shelter, etc.   Now, if these items are still in stock by the end of the sale, it would be crazy to leave them!

With so many freebies on the Black Friday deals, I hope that some folks will use discretion, and be selective, so that everyone can benefit.

        • Esther

Totally agree with you, and also hope that people will use discretion. Saving money is awesome but taking it to an extreme is really sad. I happen to live in an old house with no closets and very limited pantry space, so loading up things that I don’t know if I’ll use is not an option. :)

        • Amber

I agree! I am only getting the things I need and or will definitely use. I’m not getting everything in these scenarios because its free. I simply just don’t need all of it:) I also like that a lot of the freebies at CVS are limit 1 because that will hopefully mean more of us will be able to get the items we want

        • Atkinsonfive

In my area you can go to the flea market on any Saturday and Sunday and see a table or two with everything that CVS and Walgreens has had for free.  People are selling them.  It is disgraceful.  My local CVS manager is not very friendly or helpful but I can understand why.  These people must have 10 cards.

    • Debbiesc

Will CVS be giving rainchecks on items gone by those that have (6) CVS cards?   I understand 2 CVS cards, but (6) really???  And I am not kidding when I say (6)!!  I can see (2)!!

    • Debbiesc

Will CVS be giving rainchecks on items gone by those that have (6) CVS cards?   I understand 2 CVS cards, but (6) really???  And I am not kidding when I say (6)!!

      • Missy

Well I don’t even understand 2 cards.  You are supposed to have 1 per household. my husband bopped himself in there and got him one, but I refuse to use it it’s not fair to everybody else!!!!

    • Diane

anyone have a zipcode for the cvs breath right Q?  Or is it out?

    • kathy

I believe some of these sales start on midnight at 11/24???

      • Debbiesc

Ms. Kathy, the sale actually starts at 8 am in most store on Thursday, yes Thanksgiving Day.  Did not want you to miss out.  google i heart cvs and you can see the add with the dates at the top of it.

        • kathy

Ok my local store is 24 hrs so i was told the sale starts at midnight so i didnt want to feel dumb to be the only one walking into my local CVS at midnight on 11/24

          • Amber

I like that most of the items are limit one per household just cuz it is going to help level out the playing field and let more people get the items they need:) I’m a little leary to go to the 24 hour CVS here I think I might find another one around

    • I am worried that people doing 4-6 transactions are going to make the lines to pay unbearable.

      • Michelle

Unfortunately, that’s just part of Black Friday.  You have to have enormous patience that day.  :-)

    • Anonymous

does the hair dryer count towards the beauty club?

    • Just a little warning as I was at CVS on Thanksgiving Day last year:
1.) The line in front of the store usually starts an hour prior to the store opening.
2.) They would NOT give rainchecks.
3.) Only ONE CVS card her household. (I only have one, so not a problem for me)
4.) Only ONE transaction per customer, unless you go to the back of the line for each additional transaction.
5.) The quantities are VERY limited.
6.) The store is PACKED out.

You have been warned! Although, I myself will be in line 1 hour early or more again this year!

      • Tiff715

        this.varys.i.went.last.year.and.there.was.no.one.in.my.store

        • Rlynn103

I shopped last year at CVS on Thanksgiving morning, and it was very calm and quiet.   I’m just a bit leary this year since all the “couponing craze”,  that it will be a little crazier this year!

          • stef3279

does this sale start thanksgiving day or friday? im confused

      • Ktavolley03

this must vary by store.  I did walgreens and CVS shopping thanksgiving morning last year and found nearly none of this to be true.

      • Anonymous

Thanks for the post, this is my first time trying drug stores on Thanksgiving/black friday.  I don’t think it’s really realistic for me to go right when stores open, but I am really hope everything is not all out at CVS and Walgreens when I get there.

      • Kirsti

        Thanks for the heads up!

      • Monkzardo

This will depend on your specific store.  I went to mine last year and was probably the only person in there that early.  There don’t seem to be many couponers who use my CVS.  Lucky me!

        • Couponjulie201

Ditto. I shopped 2 CVS stores due to limited stock on a couple things I wanted, but BOTH were empty Thanksgiving morning.

    • Lynnieloo

I have a  dumb question! I don’t see Colgate on the CVS black friday add. Am I just missing it? By the way…you guys rock.

    • Elsiecot

In order to get the $4 off $20 will I have to register a new card?

    • Tiya

I love the scenarios but now I have to figure out how to do this and have little oop since I’m starting with $28 dollars in ECBs from this weeks ads. They are two $10 ECBs, $5 ECB, and three $1 ECBs. Oh my wheels are spinning!

    • Jedawh84

Just wanted to say to check online with your ECB account if you’ve already registered for emails and can’t get the 4 off 20.  I just found #2 5 off 25 Q’s that are to be sent to my card.  I’m going to rework some scenarios to see if it’s worth it to bump up the extra $5 for me…

      • Shaz

        where do you register at?

    • Elsiecot

Also, the Cepacol coupon is no longer printing…

      • Kirsti

Just checked it and it was for me

        • Couponjulie201

Print count has ended for me too. :(

    • justme

I work at CVS and I love my coupon ladies and try my very best to help new couponers too….but please understand that in some stores there are only 2 of us to ring you up. I could care less if you want to do 20? Transactions to save u money but PLEASE have the common courtesy to move to the end of the line. We can’t ask you to do so cause ppl have called and complained.

Like I said go you …for saving $$$ .I think it rocks but please realize we’re limited at some stores with the help we have and other customers who aren’t couponing get mad at us cause we can’t ask u to step aside for them.

      • Kati3878

I agree with you. I have stepped out of line between transactions if someone is behind me. I don’t think that it is fair for me to make people wait while I have multiple transactions. I think it’s all about common sense.

        • AmyLeigh540

I always step aside too….sometimes even when I only have one transaction because I always have coupons and some peeps only have one or two items….its just common courtesy….sometimes the people behind me will state that they are not in a hurry and they like to ask questions about my coupons…..lol besides…when I am couponing I allow myself extra time so I. Don’t feel rushed to get in and get out. Its mommy time…..lol

    • Jtcdouglass

sorry but I’m new to this site and I’m trying to understand is the total due posted the what you’re paying at the register, or is it after the extra bucks are subtracted out? Another thing can you use extra bucks towards purchases with extra bucks and still recieve them

      • blaire

hey there! welcome to couponning at CVS and welcome to SouthernSavers! You will LOVE it here!:) the “total due” is what you end up paying at the register, but it is also after the ecb have been subtracted out (does that makes sense?). and yes, you can use ecb to purchase other items that have ecb attached to them and the ecb will still print out (this is referred to as “rolling” your ecb). it’s really awesome to do that because you really lower your out of pocket expense AND you have more ecb to use the next time. hope that helps! :)

        • Jtcdouglass

          it does thank sooooo much

      • Couponingmommy

just wanted to add…..the total due is that plus tax.  Jenny doesn’t figure in tax, since some states are different :-)

    • Kcblue2

Wow! I just spent forever getting ready for this and I only had my coupons and the scenarios you worked up which I modified a bit. Thank you so much for doing this! You have saved me sooo much time!

    • Dct2n

Where do I go to register my card for $4 of $20? Thanks

      • aussi2185

you can go online and enroll your CVS card and they will send you an email with your coupon within 24 hrs make sure you cheek your SPAM it might go there 1st hope this helped

    • Cheryleure

i really want to see if this works..maybe  if you are there the second the store opens and you have help raceing to the shelves.

    • Salovescb

I’ve figured my 4 transactions to be a total of $145.09. Total OOP $4.72. Remaining ECBs $21.50. WOW!

    • Thank you so much for taking the time to do this!

    • Ckjohnson

Does the sale start on Friday or Thanksgiving day?

      • Wethedeans

Thanksgiving day, whatever time your store opens. Mine doesn’t open till 7, but some stores out there are open 24 hours making it open just after midnite on thanksgiving day

    • Stef3279

hey, does anyone know where i can get  Fall CVS Reinventing Beauty magazine? thanks

      • Samplut

you can get it at any CVS store at their SSU’s (self service unit) or ask an employee (i use to work for CVS)

        • Da Cpm Guru

LOL.. Samplut!  You would HAVE to to use the SSU terminology! No One would have a clue what is!  (and for all that are wondering its that first Cosmetic Display you see when you walk in the door!)  ( ME TOO!!! ;)  )

      • Mcleodsc

        email CVS-they mailed me one

    • Czalinsky

I will have to Modify a little, I opened my CVS site and I had 2 $5/25 coupons in it. Si Loaded them to my card and will just need to do some bigger Transactions… I just hope they put the Coupon friendly Cashiers at the front to make thing go smoothly. They can’t possibly think $140 in Free stuff is going to go easy with Shoopers like us… lol

      • Rubies20

i had one of these and it didnt take it off because my total after coupons was under the $25 the cashier said that maybe it would work next time if i tell the to total it first but im to scared for that im just gonna print mine and give it to them first hope that works for me

      • Amber

I have 2 of those as well and I have around 15 ECB to start with so I’m doing two big transaction. I don’t need all of the things on the list here so I’m just doing the things my family will use. I’m still going to be getting around 60 dollars worth of products for just tax! and leaving with almost 30 in ECB…assuming I can find everything. That’s the only thing that makes me leery about doing two big transactions

    • Kitten102602

My ECB’s expire on the 22nd!  BOO!!!  Now I’ll have to start from fresh!

      • Jbush27

Mine too.  I don’t know what to do.

      • Anonymous

Just roll them. Find some things to buy this week that will give you more ecbs. I had to roll $8.50 this past week and ended up getting back $8 so almost struck even!

      • Nita Royal

Check with your store to see if they take them after the expiration date.  My store allows them for one week after the date….a bit of a gamble, I know, so I’ve only done it once.  But it could allow you to roll them on Thursday.

        • Nicara24

          mine does!

      • Barbara

I would try to go in and get something that is in the sale paper now that will give you close to the same amount of ecbs…..then you will have something to work with.

    • Taralundahl

I don’t know if it is the same coupon, but I didn’t have a theraflu coupon so I looked online and went to their website and found it on there. So if anyone is looking for that coupon you can find it on their website.

    • Lauren

I am looking for Carmex and Breathright manufacturer’s coupon…. any links??? THANKS!

    • Jbush27

I am not even going to try to make transactions ahead of time.  I know that most things will be gone and I’ll have to get rain checks.

      • Sweetie16796

~Just an fyi…. you wont be able to get rain checks on a bunch of the items… things that the stores dont normally carry…. like the (1) Theraflu Daytime 1 ct., 99¢ or the Advil like this…. these are just things coming in for the promotion….~

        • Mcleodsc

And if you do manage to get rainchecks-the store will NEVER get the items in. I have rainchecks dating back 5 years ago

    • LeAnna

I am not seeing these deals in the ad that came out today(which has some 4 day sale stuff in it)  Is another ad coming out on Wed nite?  Or could my area not have these deals?

      • Anonymous

The ad in Sunday’s paper only runs till Wednesday.  There will be another Ad in the Thanksgiving Day Paper.  Scan back a few days and you can see where Jenny posted the Black Friday Ad.

        • LeAnna

TY…I do so much better w/ a visual in hand when I am going over these lists.  I thought I had missed something. You put me at ease!  Appreciate it!

      • Da Cpm Guru

Hey LeAnna, CVS has an ad that Runs Sunday thru Wend night.  Then a new 3 day ad that runs from Thursday thru Saturday night.  Some of the items such as Buy $10 of Nivea get $5 ECB actually only works once for the whole week so be careful! :)

    • guest

If you have a coupon that is worth more than the item price, do they adjust the coupon down to the lower price or give you the profit towards another item?

      • Nicara24

        profit towards another item

      • Emily

The official coupon policy states that they will adjust the coupon down.

      • Mcleodsc

        YMMV-LOL-depends mostly on the cashier!

    • U_silly_goose

On the CVS coupon for Breathe Right it states that it can not be combined with any other coupon. I states that Glaxo-Smith-Kline will reimburse the store. I don’t think it will work to use both coupons. What do you think?

      • Patty

I think the Breath Right printable coupon is a manufacturers coupon and you can’t use both

      • Da Cpn Guru

It will work… You can use 1 CVS cpn and 1 MFG coupon…

      • Da Cpn Guru

It will work… You can use 1 CVS cpn and 1 MFG coupon…

      • Mcleodsc

If the coupon has Glaxo.. at the address for reimbursement then it is a manu coupon .

    • Katie M.

If anyone could help I have a couple of questions: I recently got 2 different $5/$25 for CVS. They expire on 11/26. Can I use this discount with other coupons? And if so, does the amount have to total $25 before or after coupons? Thanks!

      • Wethedeans

You can do that with 2 different transactions, but each transaction has to be 25 dollars (before coupons, of course). Just make sure you give that coupon first before mfg coupons.

        • Katie M.

          Thanks so much!

      • cristee

You should be able to use it. They will 5 off discount before coupons so make sure you give the 5 off coupon to the cashier first! I got same coupons too. I will have to do at least 2 transactions to use awesome coupons!

      • Da Cpn Guru

Yes you can use that coupon with other MFG coupons… As a matter of fact if your total is $50 or more you can use both.  Its your total not including tax so remember that.  Then your MFG coupons and other CVS ECB and applicable coupon center coupons can be used.. hope that helps! :)

I just saw on this weeks ad that the Entertainment book you get a $10 ECB! So if you get the book you can save the ECB for Black Friday! Just a thought!

      • LeAnna

OMG..that is a great deal.  I was thinking of getting one for my son’s family!  TY for pointing it out.

      • Da Cpn Guru

        not only that…. Coupons . Com has a 20% off!  :)

    • Abruce4u

Hey…I sure appreciate all the work you do to get the great deals for us, but I couldn’t leave you a message on the 4 day CVS ad to tell you that I can’t read the last half of CVS deals.  It was like it was in codes.  Just wanted to let you know.  Thanks again.

Is anyone else having trouble finding the CVS Reinventing Beauty magazine in their stores? None of the stores in our area even carry the magazine anymore according to the cashiers.

My store has them off and on.  They have some now in the makeup/giftset area.  They also usually have extra copies of the coupon inserts sitting up at the counter too so I usually just ask if they have any I can have.

      • Mcleodsc

I just posted this above for another couponer. I emailed CVS and they mailed me a RIB magazine.

    • Vandyatkins

im new to cvs. so help me out here please. the ad for my cvs on there web site says 3 day sale thur/fri/sat  so these deals will start first thing thursday morning. right?

      • Lzbacnik

For Black Friday sale: Go to bed Thanksgiving night for a few hours.  Get up and get to your 24 hour CVS at 12:01 a.m. and start shopping. If your CVS is not a 24 hour store than show up Friday morning whatever time the store opens:)

      • Mcleodsc

Black Friday sales start on Thanksgiving morning(THURSDAY) at my CVS. If I waited until Friday there would not be any sales left to purchase. Call your store and ask!

      • Jessica

I called my local 24 hour CVS and the manager said their deals aren’t starting until 6PM on Thursday.  I don’t think he knows what he’s talking about.  I’m still going at 12:01am. Don’t want to miss out.

    • Da Cpn Guru

What I would do is go online and find the item you want.  Write down the 6 digit item code and then call your local CVS with that item number.  They can tell you right away if they carry it, if its in stock and their in-store price.  Most of the time if you print the page, they will honor the Online price too!  Ready… Set… Go!!!  :)

      • Ashleyw81

Thanks so much, that’s awesome advice!  I will do that!

    • Jennpruitt81

I have a question about the coupons… Will I find all the manufacturers coupons I need for all the scenarios in the past sundays paper?? Or should I have already had some of these?? And will all the store coupons be in the circular?
      Thanks

      • Amie

If you look at the coupons posted that she says is needed, it has what date and what insert the coupon comes from. A few of them are back in October inserts, two are printables, and theres also some in the CVS Fall reinventing Beauty magazine. I personally have never been able to get one of these as my cvs’s dont seem to get them.

        • Mcleodsc

I recently emailed CVS about the stores in our area not having the RIB magazines and they actually mailed me one.

    • Happy Feet

I got a surprise today… Our CVS cashier says the sale starts Thursday at my store… :o)  So you should check your store…some must start a day early.

      • Kprice80

        Where are you located?

    • Happy Feet

      Has anyone gotten their Prevacid rebate yet… I haven’t just wandering… :o)

      • Kleckie

        good question…. I have not….

    • Happy Feet

I couldn’t find a single newspaper that had the Proctor and Gamble q’s in it… any ideas ?

      • Mcleodsc

Which coupons are you looking for? Go to weusecouponsdotcom and look at FSOT. I trade on there all the time.

    • LA Henson

    • Amie

I have the same question as LA Henson, where is the $4 off $20 q?? thanks

    • omg this is amazing! I was just excited to get stuff for almost free by just paying tax, but then I started discovering all the coupons I had for these free products! i dont have all the coupons you have but I had some so now I am really excited!

    • Scubagirl Kim

You recieve it when you sign up for email alerts on your cvs card.  Unfortunately it is for the first time you sign up only.  ( I tried to remove the email and sign up again and it didn’t work)

    • Scubagirl Kim

can someone please let me know what products will work with the $4 off $20 facial beauty coupon i recieved from the magic machine? Is it only facial products?  thank you.

      • Ginger

There is a great deal on the garner facial moisturizers, you spend 15 and get back 5 so this is what I did
2 garnier facial wipe cleanzers for $5.00 each
1 garnier mositurizer cream for $5.00
        Total $15.00
Used cvs $5.00 off facial products
used 3 $1.00 off mfg coupons
        Used 1 $5.00 ecb

Total oop $2.00 but got back $5.00 ecbs awesome deal

    • Scubagirl Kim

I am new to couponing.  After reading the awesome scenerios above am I correct in assuming on say for instance the softlips, that even though the add states limit of one you are still allowed to purchase qty of 2 at $2 each but you will only receive one $2 EBR?  If this is not correct can you please explain how it works?  thank you.

      • Jen

        Yep, you’re right!

    • Kailea84

    • Holly

I only have $7 to go to get to my next $5 ECB for the Beauty Club so on Sunday I went for my weekly trip and got 3 deodorants that were on sale in hopes of getting my $5 before Thanksgiving shopping.  I asked the cashier if deodorant counted towards the Beauty Club to which she said yes and reminded me that it will take 48hrs to show up.  It’s now been 48hrs and my balance, according to the website, is still the same.  Does anyone know from personal experience if deodorant counts or do I need to go back today for something else and hope that it goes through in time for Thursday morning?

      • Anonymous

Deodorants don’t qualify.  Also, if you don’t need anything from the ad, I wouldn’t get anything just to qualify for the $5 ECBs.  You will qualify for it by the time you get stuff from the Black Friday anyway.  If  you buy something just for the ECBs, you are paying for them and it’s not worth it.  You can go to the CVS website to find a list of the items that qualify for beauty rewards.

        • Holly

          Good point!  Thank you, Sheila!

    • New to This

signed up with CVS e-mail so I could get the 4 off 20 coupon emailed to me…but I haven’t gotten anything. When is it supposed to be e-mailed?

I signed up a few weeks ago and it was advertised and I never got it……

sorry guys on the scenario for new cvs shoppers, there is a mistake on transaction #2 you will only get back $3.00 ECB,s back on the 4 mars chocolate singles candy.

    • Mavis1296

keep seeing this nomorerack ad on here, so I went to check it out.  You have to pay to bid, and order up a number of bids before you can use the site.  Even if you don’t win you have to pay for the bid.  Anyone tried this site?  Is it a really good way to save, or just a good way to lose money in bid costs

    • Lynnette

CVS has been the bomb this week for me.  Getting 6 of the 8 pack of Sparkle paper towels for $5.00 and the $10.00 gift card is wonderful, especially since you can get as many as 5 deals per card!  I like to get the American Express gift cards because you can use them anywhere!

      • Michelle

How did you get 6 of the paper towels for only $5.00???

    • Scubagirl Kim

Can someone please tell me what order to use the coupons in?  I have $4 off $20 purchase from signing up, (2) $1 CVS coupons, and (2) $2 manufacturers coupons.  Also what if I also wanted to use $5 off $20 on facial products?  Assuming I purchase 2 items totalling $22 in facial products before tax.  Thank you so much for your help.

      • Anonymous

Use the $4/$20 first, before any coupons, to ensure your total doesn’t go below $20 for that coupon.  The order of the others shouldn’t really matter I don’t think, unless someone else knows something I don’t.

    • Anonymous

thank you jenny ////  just got emailed for three days 20 percent off to add to my card . but can my brain asbore all these deals for one day ha ha

    • Countrygirlz901

ok so i checked in all my coupons and somehow i only have like 2 of them. I printed all the ones i could but what do i do in this situation. I would like a scenario without the coupons….just the sale please :0)

      • Couponjulie201

Which printables did you get? Post ’em up and I’ll be happy to try to work something out for you.

    • Lsylte

First time shopping at Cvs for black friday deals. Do they have the specials (freebies) in their regular aisles or all located in a special spot in the store?

      • Couponjulie201

They’re all over the store in the usual places, just like any other ECB item.

        • Lsylte

          thank you thank you

    • Couponjulie201

OK, it’s a LOT of transactions with few coupons, but to keep the OOP low for each, has to be done. If you’re willing to spend a little more on the earlier transactions to accrue more ECBs faster, that would cut the amount of groupings down. All the coupons I’m listing are the printables you should be able to access.

You could keep going after this and get more of the nail polish since the limit is 6 or other items or just quit…. Frankly, I’d be tired. Haha. But total spent (not counting taxes) $4.60. Purchased $89.52. Not bad considering this all only uses 6 IP coupons. The rest is rolling ECBs.

    • Millynvrz

i have a coupon of 3.00 off the benefiber stick can i use it.

      • Anonymous

Yes, but they will probably (in accordance with their coupon policy) adjust the coupon’s value down to the price of the item.

      • Amy

Yes. A manufacturer’s coupon should not be adjusted down, because the manufacturer is going to pay CVS for the stated price of the coupon. You should get the overage.

    • Ghender6

I’m going to a 24 hr store tonight to get my CVS deals..what time do the tills change, so i get the ECBs..please does anyone know..I’ve only done this before at WAGS and their tills change over at about 12.30 am does CVS till change at 12 midnight?

    • Savagele

If you go to a 24 hour cvs when do the thanksgiving deals start?

    • Savagele

Who do you contact if you never got the $4/20$ coupon for registering your cvs card? Thanks everyone new to cvs shopping but loving it so far

    • Albertthegator

Does anyone know if buying one of the collegiate licensed Pillow Pets for $29.99 will qualify for the $10 gift card?

      • Nita Royal

Normally, they will round up, so this should work.

      • DianaY19

My Walmart in Charlotte, NC had UNC and Panthers Pillow Pets on Clearance for $10.

    • Coupongal18

So, what time is everyone heading out if they have a 24 hour store – my store starts the sale at 12:01am but I don’t know if I want to go – I just don’t want to wait up that late because I will be Black Friday shopping starting tomorrow night and going all night – so, I kind of want my sleep! LOL! But, then, I don’t want to miss the deals either by waiting til the morning…..

      • Hunan101

I’m going at 11:00, put everything in my cart and be ready to check out at midnight or a few minutes after, want to make sure the EBs print out.

        • guest

Make sure your store will start sales at 12:01.  Some stores in Greenville, SC and Simpsonville, SC aren’t going to start sales until 6am at the 24 hrs stores.  They are posting signs about this

          • Kati3878

That’s what my store told me. They aren’t starting at 12:01 either. I plan on going first thing in the AM. I doubt many people will be there that early. I’m sure a lot of people will be busy preparing for Thanksgiving dinner.

    • Stephypooh86

Will CVS give rain checks for the sale items on Thanksgiving? I can’t even seem to get the good sales on a normal day- someone always swipes them immediately!

      • Olemissmoss

I am only speculating, but I doubt it. Someone mentioned in an earlier posts that her CVS did not issue rain checks during last years Black Friday sales.

    • Olemissmoss

Help me understand how tax works with ECB’s. ECB’s cannot be used to pay taxes. In the scenario above, the amount of products purchased is about $140. If tax is about 7% which equals $9.80, how can the total oop be less than this? If my total before ECB’s is say $25.01 and I have $25 in EBC, can I used them all? How, then, is tax paid?

      • Amy

At my store, the ECBs can’t be used to pay tax. My out of pocket expense tonight was mostly for tax.

    • SLPLaurie

Quick question…I’m prepping to go tonight at midnight…there are a few items listed so far that I do not see listed on the CVS flyer that was scanned in (like the benefiber sticks and the toothpaste), are we sure those are going to be free after ECBs? I’m guessing maybe the whole flyer wasn’t scanned in or it has changed maybe?

      • Stacyannw

you can go to cvs dot com and see your flyer for your area, it has been up on there for a couple of days

    • Brooke

Will be at CVS by 11 :) SO EXCITED!!!

    • L_jackson427

Finish Quantum and Toothpaste…. getting ready!

    • Anando1234

      Does CVS take expired coupons?

    • Sniperella80

I just finished getting everything on my list!  I called my local CVS, and they said they were starting the sales tonight, and the ECB bucks did print!  My best friend and I were the only two people in the store, we managed to get all of our deals and then some, and didn’t have to worry about waiting in line, dealing with crowds, or limited transactions.  The cashier did tell us that that particular store will limit to one transaction tomorrow.

    • Kati3878

I just got back from CVS. It wasn’t crowded at all.At 12:01 there were only 5 other couponers and they had 2 cashiers working up front. Plus I got everything I wanted. I bought over $75 worth of stuff, paid less than $10 OOP and have $30 ECB left! I am very happy, and I can spend tomorrow enjoying my holiday.

    • Ssanders23

does the ad start at midnight at all the 24 hour stores?

      • sheryl

Check with your store.  Mine in Garland Texas did.

    • Dix

That was so fun!  I have a date with 24 hour CVS every year on the night before Thanksgiving. . .definitely got every single thing I wanted except the Bayer, and they were trying to see if I wanted a Rain Check or substitute or something for that!  I said, I think I’m okay!

    • Amy

My coupon buddy and I had a ball! Our CVS was so well organized – almost all of the freebies were at the front of the store, either in bins or end-caps. We gathered every single freebie on the list with no problem. Then we got out of the way and divided our loot into 4 transactions with coupons. We went to the register together and alternated buying – she’d pay for hers, then I’d pay for mine (the groups were almost the same). If someone came to purchase that wasn’t couponing, we let them go ahead. There were 2 registers going. I paid $8.87 American cash – mostly for tax, and walked away with all the freebies AND a profit of $49 in ECBs!!! I had two $5 off $25 coupons, and store coupons from joining the diabetes program (I’m not diabetic) – one of them was $6 off $30 health care purchase. What fun!!

    • Jonna_brinkley

Everything was smooth except for the nail polish, for whatever reason two of my six did not ring up right or print out ecb. Ofcourse after paying and seeing that I went back to have it corrected and the assistant manager told me that the manager made it so they could not do returns tonight. She did try to refund the 2 and it only wanted to give me $2.16 back for them because I used ecb. That isn’t right. She told me the manager said just to tell people to come back in the morning when he is there to take care of returns.

      • Michelle

I made that mistake too but the cashier caught it before I paid, thankfully.  She said that the silver topped bottles were not part of the sale.  I’m sorry that happened to you.

        • Jonna_brinkley

Actually the 2 that came up wrong were part of the promo. They look exactly the same just different color polish.

    • Countrygirlz901

HAd a blast……my whole total came to 122.67 i spent 25.00!!! woohoooo i know i could have done better but I didnt have all the coupons everyone else had..oh well i am still VERY happy!

    • sheryl

Super kudos to to you Jenny for organizing this list.  We just got back from CVS doing the advanced shopping trip with a few variations to some of the transactions.  We got $321.02 worth product for $37.59.  88% savings.  A few Christmas gifts, cold & flu stuff, cereal for my Chex mix and most exciting my daughter got her chocolate fountain for 34 cents.  We still have a combined total of $18.50 ECB’s left.  Woot Woot!

    • Mel

Went at midnight.  There were a TON of couponers in there rushing around and the lines were LONG. I got most of what was on my list.  My total was $99.68 and I paid OOP $19.90.  I will definitly go next year!

    • Lovethebreeze@Yahoo.com

I just left CVs and got all on my list except the hairdryer. They only got 5 per store.
There were 2 other shoppers in the store. I did 4
      transactions.

    • Norma – San Antonio, TX

Thanks so much for the list Jenny, I did the beginner version and added an “extra” transaction to snag an extra 3 items and fared farily well $115.93 for opp $15.27 with $14.00 in ECB left. There was definitely more people there than I thought but the CVS staff were great! They really understood it all and like many have said set up the store in manner than allowed for smooth sailing my coupon buddy/partner got $108.89 for opp$10.24 and has $18.50 in ECB left… we couldn’t have done it without you! Thanks again.

    • AmyQ

My friend and I did AWESOME tonight at CVS! Thanks Jenny! =)

    • Linda_Lovelace

Lexington, SC store was a train wreck at midnight.  Two registers open, and there were no limits to the number of transactions.  A bunch of inconsiderate women with multiple shopping carts each were doing 7 or more transactions each, and the line didn’t move at all for the first hour after the registers switched over at midnight. This particular CVS was also letting people use multiple CVS EXTRA CARE cards, which is ludricous.  The poor cashiers starting feeling sorry for the people in line with normal amounts of stuff, so they directed a select few to the pharmacy where they opened a third line for people like myself with 15 – 20 items and no desire to do all the transactions back-to-back.  Management made a poor call by not limiting transactions.  Corporate will hear my frustrations as well!

      • Couponjulie201

Wow. Can’t believe they allowed multiple CVS Cards; that’s probably what gummed it up the worst. They should’ve funneled all the multiple transaction people to 1 line; I was doing my 8 transactions at the same time as another woman and we both just stayed in the same line and took turns; I didn’t mind waiting for her and vice versa but I’d never make someone paying all at once wait on me.

      • julie1916

Same thing happened in Virginia Beach.  I watched women using multiple cards.  When I was finally ableto check out the cashier mentioned that he told them they were only supposed to have 1 card.  I told him they knew.  If you are smart enough to know how to coupon, you know not to have multiple cards.  I was not impressed with the massive cart of things.  Three women, more than 6 transactions each and they were all together.

      • Lwhetzel624

yeah I had 8 transactions today however i did one and then moved over until the lined cleared and then returned for another, which gave me a minute to organize the next transaction anyway. that is what a GOOD couponer should always do, It took me about 3 hours but I left with about $270.00 worth of product for $22.24 OOP and $46.00 ECB left over. sorry to hear your experience was so bad, some people just are very rude!!!

      • Michelle

I wasn’t going to move to the end of the line…the people behind me were couponers with just as many transactions as I had.  If I had moved to the back of the line, ALL the people in front of me (and the line was long) would have done all their transactions.  What would that serve?  My CVS had three cashiers working. One checking normal transactions, one doing couponers and one floating between the two.  It was very smooth.

    • Ashleyw81

Just got back from an awesome morning at CVS!  The employees were friendly and helpful and the store was not at all crowded.  The few other shoppers were couponers as well and very considerate.  I did two transactions and ended up with about $135 worth of product for $50 OOP and $12 ECB left over.  That may not sound that great to a lot of people but that includes a bottle of designer cologne that my husband wanted for Christmas…I used a lot of my ECBs to get it.  It would have cost more at a department store and I wouldn’t have gotten all of the wonderful freebies that CVS offered today!  I am so happy with my shopping trip and hope everybody else has as much fun as I did.

    • Jmacey

I got $155 worth of stuff. Oop $21; received $23 in ECB’s! I went around midnight in Warrenton, VA and there were about 10 other shoppers. I didn’t have a long wait in line, and the CVS ladies were super nice!

    • MappKidsSave

This morning was awesome went to my CVS around 11:30 got all my stuff together…helped a few shoppers find stuff and did the dang thang! I got $245.06 worth of stuff and paid $12.87 oop!! Got so many goodies I’m pretty much done with holiday shopping aside from the stuff I’m getting from a local small business on Saturday!!! God Bless you all and Happy Thanksgiving!!

    • Kati3878

Just wanted to wish my fellow couponers a Happy Thanksgiving and to thank Jenny and SS for making it possible for me to save so much $$.

    • Anonymous

jenny what a morning at cvs i laughed all morning at all the hornders ///// got a few things /////  one young lady came back and gave me one box of therm flu thats all i wanted , because thats all my hubby can take when sick . it would have made your morning it did mine have a very blessed day////////////////

    • Coupongal18

Had an awesome trip to CVS – my store didn’t start the sale until 6:00 – it’s a 24 hour store but chose to wait I guess…..got everything but a few things on my list (Thermaflu, cereal, Fiber One bars, and Soft Lips!) But, I spent $22 OOP and left with $21 ECB….on my way to my parents this AM, I stopped by the CVS by them and got the above items that my CVS was out of…….so, spent a total of $26 OPP and have $33.54 ECB!!! WOO HOOO!!! So, everytrhing was free basically!!! TRhanks so much Jenny for everything you do!!!!! Happy Thanksgiving!!!!!

    • Shannon

Went this morning and got every single thing on the scenario lists above (although I had to go to a second store only a few minutes away for 2 things). Cashier was friendly and helpful and all of the ECBs printed correctly. I am thankful for Jenny and CVS today! Happy Thanksgiving!!!

    • Tthompsonjob

Bless you and the work you do. We are on a budget so tight that it squeaks. My CVS started the sale Wednesday night! I had enough time to find the things and check out slowly. I spent $5.00 on $139.00 worth of items. Thank you J!!

    • Deecheers4rv

Got everything I needed with no OOP! I used a CVS gc from last week. But OMG the woman in front of us (she was not a couponer) just wanted to get the free items and used 3 or 4 cards to get it. Then she would ask the cashier how much the total was so she could roll the ECB. It took 45 mins. Ugh

    • I went at 7 this moring, I was the only in the store until I left a about 8.  The sale was not signed yet, and the price scanner was still updating which is why it sort of took me so long.  I got everything I wanted except the Benefiber and the Cool Patch fever thing, both of which I did not really *need* but would have take for the ECB.

I did it all in one transaction and spent 33.00 after coupons OOP and got back about 36.00 in ECB.  I was pretty happy overall with my transaction.  I actually want/need a curling iron and a few other higher priced point items so having the ecb is perfect.

      Happy Thanksgiving to all!

    • Babydoll 1999

Went to CVS this morning.  Got everything I wanted.  OOP was $11.89 for $85.59 worth of item.  With $12.96 back in ECB!!  My plan didn’t go exactly how I wanted.  I was unable to use 2 Q’s because they said they couldn’t key in a lower amount on the manufacturer coupons??  I thought they did that before but I’m very pleased.  The cashier was very polite and understanding.  Thanks Jenny for everything you do.  God bless!!

      • Jbush27

That is bull. I used my Q’s, only the computer adjusted them down to the price of the item.  I was bummed I didn’t get overage.

      • Couponjulie201

They can, the cashier just has to know how to do it. Same with allowing an overage (which my CVS allowed on the Theraflu, and I was NOT expecting it). Did the manager say they couldn’t?

      • Amy

I thought I read on one of Jenny’s posts a while back that it was coupon fraud for a store to reduce the price of a coupon, because the store will be reimbursed by the manufacturer for the coupon value. I got Bayer Advanced aspirin yesterday and I got the overage. At another CVS store, my mom got 2 Bayer Advanced, and the cashier only accepted 1 coupon “because the value of the coupon made both of them free”, and she reduced it by 2 cents to match the price of the 2. She wouldn’t take the coupon for the other Bayer Advanced. How can they do this? They are getting the overage themselves.

    • godlymom71

Hey everyone happy Thanksgivings to all. I got everything at CVS plus Heidi Klum fragance set which is B1G1 and used 2 $5 off and CVS 5 off Fragance, and also I got a great deal with the Sonicare Electric toothbrush, its $44.99 w/10 EBC, there is a $25 off Q from the paper. Overall I got all for just tax or less $1.68. Wow I could not believe it.

    • Mmader2

Scored today at CVS $2.18 OOP for $210 in products.  Best trip ever!  Did it in 7 transactions, but I did not hog the register.  Put my cart off to the side and brought up each transaction in the small hand held basket.  CVS said they wished every one would do this.  It did take me 2 1/2 hours, but time well spent.

    • Sandra

What a morning went with my daughter and mother and we all 3 got all the items we were looking for.  Our CVS is awesome, the cashiers are so friendly.  A GREAT way to start THANKSGIVING!  Jenny Thanks for all you do as Dave Ramsey would say “you have changed our family tree”!!!

    • Nita Royal

My stores didn’t open until 8AM, and there was a group of couponers waiting to get in.  But there was only one “fiend” – running around practically pushing people over to get her items.  Everyone else was really in a great mood, helping each other find things, pointing out the deals, and even sharing coupons. No one did more than 2 transactions, and I only saw one person use 2 cards.  The store had everything on my list, and being around such nice and positive couponers really started my Thanksgiving mood!!

      • Kati3878

That’s good to know that the majority of the couponers you encountered were friendly. :) Couponing and scoring freebies shouldn’t be a blood sport and it’s nice to share and swap deal ideas and coupons with others.

    • CouponJen

Do they give rain checks for the black Friday deals?

      • Nita Royal

My store mgr said that they would only do rain checks for the items that were normal store stock. Some of today’s specials are promotional only, so no RCs on those.

    • Katherinej51679

What ZIP code do you use to get the 1.50 off Breathe Right strips CVS coupon?

    • Couponjulie201

My store opened at 7 and supposedly there was a line waiting, so none of the ECB tags were done this AM by the time I got there around 8ish. But there was only a couple of people there while I shopped; I met a couple of couponers too. :) I got EVERYthing on my list, only had to sub out 1 item I could not find. My store also put a lot of the free items out front. I probably spent an hour hunting for stuff, then 10 min checking out. I did 8 transactions but the staff was SO nice and patient the second someone got behind me in line, I told them to go ahead.

BTW, on the Revlon polish, I only found 1 free-standing display of them, and most were the Top-Speed drying kind which are NOT included in the sale. Just FYI! Ended up getting $136 in items, paid $18, got back over $13 ECBs. So I was only OOP for $5! Thank you Jenny!

    • MLH

I had a really good day today! I got there at opening (8am) because I thought there would be tons of people there but there was only two couples and another lady besides myself…Staff was great helping us locate items and I was able to get everything on my list! $166.75 worth of product for 0.56!! Best trip I’ve had couponing! Thanks for the scenarios Jenny! They really do help and are a great time saver!

    • Kate Perkins

I had a great trip to CVS this morning.  I spent $15 and saved $108.  I still have $7.50 left in ECB.  I am going to save those to use with Friends and Family discount coupon that starts Dec. 3rd.

    • Lwhetzel624

Had a GREAT shopping experience today at CVS in Longwood Fl. Got everything on my list except for the Finish dish det. (which always sells out quickly in every sale) but final numbers were.  3 hours, 8 transactions, TOTAL of $269.44 worth of products, OOP cost, $22.04 and still have $46.00 worth of ECB to use later. I am going to go back and splurge on a few things that I want like the Hair dyer and the chocolate fountain which will get me $15.00 more in ECB anyway. Thank you Southern Savers and CVS for all your help!!!!!

    • Dsmith

New to couponing and have never done a ‘black friday’ sale before and out of town to boot!  Down in Savannah, GA for Thanksgiving and went to the CVS on Hwy 21 right off the I-95 exit (109)……THEY ROCK!!!!!  Was there when they opened at 8:00am.  Only about 5 people in the store and they and employee said… ‘only 1 card allowed…and ALL OF THE FREEBIES ARE STOCKED AT THE FRONT OF THE STORE!  Couldn’t be easier than that!  They have it figured out!  Thank you CVS and
Jenny….you made for a wonderful day!!

    • Zebby

I did not get up early to get to cvs this morning because I thought there would be a crowd to deal with.  I did go to see if anything was left this afternoon, not expecting anything, but to my surprise most of the items were still in stock!  It was a fun trip.  Only did one transaction so I have a lot of extra bucks to play with now.  The cashier was not quite friendly, but then again she did have to work on Thanksgiving, so I understand.

    • Wablove

Did anyone go to the Springfeild Tn CVS today? I could not go and am thinking of going after I hit walmart tonight. Would love to know if I should even make the trip.

    • Tiya

I got $258 worth of items for $5.62 including a $3 donation to St. Judes. Today was an awesome day. Got everything I planned and more. I got the Nivea deal, a One Touch reader for my stepdad, 2 crock pots, 4 robes, Pepsi products, and plenty of stocking stuffers and gifts. I still have $30 in ECBs and will get $10 in beauty club rewards.

    • Susan

I shopped at the CVS on St. Simons Island, GA. today.  No lines, no waiting—-had a great trip!!!  Bought $210.89 in mdse.  got back $164.70 in ECB’s.  cost:  $46.19!!!   I only did one transaction so I will have to do a lot of shopping in the next month—Christmas Eve — one month away….lots of stocking stuffers!

    • Amy

Jenny, I read the CVS coupon policy and it says they reduce coupons to the price of an item if the coupon value is more than the price. This happened to me tonight. I thought I’d read something from you a while back that this is coupon fraud. They are being reimbursed by the manufacturer for the price of the coupon, so they are allowing themselves (CVS) to get the overage rather than the customer, right? How can they do this?

    • Lsylte

Winder GA- Terrible CVS.  Did not even have the items out for people to purchase.  Eventually got the items out of the back approximately 20 mins once opening (after several people asking for items)  PLUS all of the coupon people lined up and did not just do one transaction at a time (I hope they were not Southern Saver Readers).   Got everything I needed, but some people were rude…

    • Doug

Me and my fiance’ did great this morning.  We could have reduced the OOP a little more, but we only did 3 transactions each (we didn’t get everything free…just the stuff we needed).  Also, I forgot our ECBs so that didn’t help…oops.  We had coupons for a lot of the things as well.  Our store was great…almost everything up front and in and out in 30 minutes.  Total was roughly $160.00 and we made $25.60!  Even including tax I think we made about $10…should have been more but didn’t get $4 ECB on one of the Revlon nail polishes…didn’t notice until we got home, but we weren’t too worried about it.  This was our first year doing this, but can’t wait until next year now!

    • Kati3878

Just got back from a second CVS trip to get the items that I didn’t find last night. I got almost everything on my list with the exception of the Theraflu and the BeKool.
      1 Pepto-Bismal
      1 Carmex
      1 Sheets Energy Strips
      1 AA Batteries
      1 Universal Remote
      2 Irish Spring Deodorants
      1 Cepacol
      1 Flossers
      3 Mars Candy
1 Wet and Wild 8 pack nail polish

Got back over $40 in ECB! Spent 13 OOP because I didn’t feel like doing a bunch of transactions. I was pleased to see that they had plenty of inventory and the cashier was super nice and even offered to do separate transactions. I love CVS!

FYI – the Wet and Wild nail kits – you can get 2!! A great gift for the girls on my list.

I Live in Tally and had the awesomest time last night doing the couponing thing. Everyone was so helpful, and so organized. This is my second year, and I will doing it again next year. Go, Lake Ella CVS!!

I enjoyed getting the bargains today in Springfield TN except for the rude lady doing multiple transactions and using FOUR SEPARATE CVS CARDS!  She was unorganized and confused and getting ECBs mixed up (who could keep that straight?).  She said she was buying for her three kids in college.  I think management should have prevented her from doing this.

Went for the 1st time ever yesterday and did the 1st 5 separate transactions. Missing a few coupons but still only spent $ 11.80 oop and got around $ 112 worth of stuff and got back about $21 ecb. That was fun! And the manager and cashiers very nice & helpful @ store # 5858( San Antonio,TX)

This was my first year doing this.  I made 2 trips Wednesday at Midnight.  First trip got everything free, second trip got the lighted mirror for free with my extracare bucks and got another $10 bucks for buying the mirror.  It felt a little like Vegas, so much fun!

1 comment to add….my CVS in Chicago was great, they were out of the Finish 10 count for $2.99 so instead of a raincheck they gave me the Finish 20 Count Powerball for $3.99 and got back $4.00 in ECB!  Very Nice!

Thank you so much Jenny! I am amazed at how great my shopping trip went at CVS. Even though nothing was ready when I went. The cashiers helped me find products that I could not find. My OOP was $11.50. and I saved $120.00! The best thing of all I got a $85.00 toothbrush that I have always wanted for $.67!! It was amazing!

I want to thank you so much Jenny in all that you do for us couponers.  We couldn’t have done any of this without you or with what other people find.  I went to CVS today after my Black Friday sales.  And I wish that I would’ve have done it on Thanksgiving as when I went to my CVS they were out of a lot of the things.  But I was still impressed with what I got.  My manager at my CVS gave me a $5.00 ECB, because of his store being out of the things.  So I would like to Thank each and every single one of you out here that puts your 2 cents in.  I try and read everyone’s comments before I go out and brave the wild.  I hope to be doing this again next year, but this time I will be going on Thanksgiving!!

Can I use my ECB’s on someone else’s CVS account?

      • Maritzabelrivera

No. Itll only take the ECB if you are using the same card or phone number connected to that account.

        • walstib

          Thanks for your help!

Just got back from CVS in Martinez, Ga.  I had to go to 2 stores because the first 1 was out of a lot of stuff.  The 2nd store was out of stuff too but I got more of what I was looking for.
      spent $10.60
      total retail vale–$65.97
      $18.47 ECBs remaining!!!!!!

      • MustangLadyred

The cashier at the 1st store I went to was absolutely amazing.  he was so helpful & even called the 2nd store to see if they had the stuff he was out of.  I really like shopping at the CVS in Martinez, GA!!!

will these deals be available Sat morning?  I know a lot of the products will be gone, just wondering if sale is good til sat.

    • Se Sharpe

Thankyou Jenny! I should have gone Thursday but still did good. My total was $171 worth of products, Spent $24.  I didnt have all the coupons and they were out of most thing that I did have coupons for but that was still an awesome trip!!!

My darling husband went to our store at 7 am, unbeknownst to me ( I said I was not going to get up at the crack of dawn, I’d go when it was convenient, didn’t need free stuff that bad.) He got everything with no problems, helped ladies, used the Revlon $24. ECB and a couple others to buy stuff, and came back with a huge PILE of ECB’s. I put together coupons to go along with the freebies, and will hopefully get over there tomorrow, and at least get some stocking stuffer items if anything is left. (We live in a small town, so they don’t stock it very well)  He is so sweet!! And he picked out good colors on the nail polish!!

FYI – My Beauty Account was at $183.12…..
      I bought:
      2 Revlon  $9.98
      1 LA Looks  $2.49
      1 Wet n Wild Nail Set $2.88
      1 Soft Lips $2.00

There should have been $17.35 towards my account for a total of $200.47

However…..when I looked at my account this morning, (I shopped Thursday morning), my account total is at $198.47……which is the total of the above WITHOUT the SOFTLIPS…..and since the Carmex, which I knew ahead did not count, it seems that no “Chapstick” type lip products count towards beauty club…..

    • Deborah

My total haul with both accounts was:
      $4.79 OOP
      $169.05 SAVED
      $48.22 left in ECB’s

And I love MY Riverside, CA CVS…..all the morning gals are helpful and make sure I never forget a Q!  I use your site because it’s one of the first I found when I started couponing earlier this year, and even though you’re on the other coast…..the ads are pretty much the same…..not to mention your accuracy is tremendous….a small glitch here and there, but, hey, who’s perfect?

    • Sandy Cochran

I was able to snag $80 in ECBs!  Went back to CVS and so far have gotten $55 in free Christmas presents!  Thanks for your shopping and couponing help!
