cvs paper goods deal

Most of us think that if we can find the largest pack of paper towels that we will finally get a deal.  In reality though the biggest package (aka warehouse club deal) isn’t the best price.  Most of the top paper good deals come from the drugstores.  This week there is a great deal on Bounty and Charmin, two favorite brands at our house.

The Deal:

Buy $30 in participating products and get a $10 ExtraCare Buck

There are tons of participating items, but if you want paper goods this is your best option:

Buy:
(2) Bounty Paper Towels, 12 rolls, $9.99
(1) Charmin Ultra Strong or Ultra Soft Bath Tissue, 20 rolls, $9.99
(1) Dawn Hand Renewal Dish Liquid, 9 oz, 99¢
Use:
(2) -.25/1 Bounty towels or napkins, PG 1/26 or  printable
-.25/1 Charmin Bath Tissue (zip 30003), 4 ct.+, PG 1/26 or printable
-.50/1 Dawn Hand Renewal, Power Clean, Bleach Alternative or Oxi, excl trial size (zip 77477) printable

Total Due: $29.71
Get Back: $10 ExtraCare Buck

That’s like paying $19.71 or $6.57 each.

To look at it in a per rolls basis, you are paying 54¢ per roll of paper towels or 32¢ per roll of toilet paper.  The best price for the same size rolls at my local Sam’s club is 85¢ per roll for Bounty and 60¢ per roll of Charmin!

Note: This is a tiered reward deal, meaning if you buy less than $30 you will only get a $5 reward.  You have to add in the Dawn to hit the $30 retail amount needed to earn the $10 reward.

Found this out with the diaper deal today. Have to go OVER $30.

      • Valerie

I’ve noticed that too. In the past you could be within a few cents and automatically get ECBs. I went Friday for the Huggies deal and was within 3 cents of getting my rewards, but they didn’t print. The cashier was nice enough to print them for me. I guess from now on I’ll have to plan my trips better.

        • Notthatsimple

Same with me on the grocery deal last week. I was 1.03 short, but the cashier was nice enough to issue them anyways.

    • karen

Ok, on the CVS. reward bucks that you get back… can it go toward that very purchase or does it have to be used on a future purchase? if so are you required to use the bucks within certain dates?

      • debby

Future purchase. I usually buy the “deals” first, then use the ECBs on the rest of my purchase (no ecb, just coupons).

    • debby

So long as it is double rolls, that’s not bad.

    • renamac

This is a good deal but as of now my cvs will not give us rewards unless we meet or exceed the purchase price. I know before they used to if you got close but the last two times I was within 2 cents and it would not print. So I would add another dawn detergent to make sure you get your $10 cvs bucks. Still love my CVS !

      • Chelle

I’m confused because the scenario does exceed the purchase price before coupons and mine automatically prints out even if it’s a little below $30 I don’t understand how it doesn’t work at some stores they are all the same company. CONFUSED??

        • traci0322

The actual amount has to be met on a tiered deal. If you purchase using the 98 percent rule, you will only get $5 ECBs. If the only deal available was $10 ECB wyb $30 product, then the 98 percent rule would be fine and the $10 ECBs would print… HTH

      • traci0322

It does exceed $30 before coupons.

      • Victoria Herring

I’ve been told by CVS that it just had to be 97% or something like that.. meaning if it was just a few cents under it should work. Its been about a year since they told me that though so they may have changed it around in their computer systems to where you have to exceed the $30.

    • brindia79

Im new to this and just curious. Do you use all the coupons listed? Or only one?

      • 3isenuf

In this case like this when she’s giving a scenario of what to buy, you can use them all–they each match up with one of the items being purchased.

But on a general weekly coupon match up she lists all the coupons that go with each item on sale and then it’s up to you to see which ones you have and want to use.

        • brindia79

          Thank you !!!

    • SusanW

Heads up – went to take advantage of this deal at my Greenville, SC CVS today and was told that the stores had not been sent the Charmin bonus pack (16+4=20 rolls) as pictured in the ad. They are substituting a CVS brand 24-roll pack, but it won’t help with reaching the $30 for the $10 ECB reward. I was fortunate that another CVS down the road had exactly 2 bonus packs of the Charmin Extra Strong, so I got the deal, but it wasn’t easy…

      • Joe

Also ran into this at our Irmo, SC. They just had packages without the 4 bonus roles and said they wouldn’t offer rain checks (because they may never receive bonus roles packages). Slightly false advertising IMO.

        • peggy

My CVS did not have the Charmin bonus packs(16+4) , only the 16 roll packs, so the manager told me to get a 4 pack to put with it :) And the cashier had to print my $10 ECB since it did not print . I was happy :)

It sounds like the $30 must be reached after coupons. Do ECB’s from a previous transaction count as coupons against the $30 minum for the toilet paper deal? For example, if I buy the Colgate first and use the $2 ECB’s towards 3 Charmine’s and 2 Dawn Hand Renewals ($9.99*3)+($0.99*2)-($0.25)-($0.25)-($0.25)-($0.50)-($0.50)=$30.20. If I use the $2 ECB from previous transaction my total will be $28.20. Will I still get the $10 ECB for this transaction? Thanks!

      • kcreviews

The $30 is before coupons. HTH!

        • kt

No it isn’t. It always has been before but I had this problem last week
with diapers. They were saying that it is $30 after coupons. Is it
written somewhere from CVS corporate? This was a huge issue for me last
week and I had to return my stuff.

          • tespelage

If it is tiered you have to meet the top amount now. They won’t do the 98% unless it isn’t a tiered deal.

          • I actually sent CVS corporate an email last week to verify and they replied that it is all before coupons but sadly they don’t have anything official saying that. My reply was then that they needed it in writing and sent to stores! Sorry that you are having issues at your store.

          • kcreviews

My store gave me the deal and the $30 was before coupons.

      • kcreviews

The $30 is before coupons. HTH!

      • tespelage

I do it every week, and it is before coupons. You can use ECB on top of the coupons to bring it down even more!

    • JessLeeAdams

I added a box of Puffs that were included to reach the 30.00 mark. Also, our store sold out of the Bounty 12 packs but allowed me to get two six packs and price matched. Just be sure they still give you credit toward your $10 reward because it’s not done automatically.

    • Jill

Just wanted to give a heads up to anyone with an unsorted stack of printable coupons – there is a $1.00 off Bounty paper towels for 6-pk or larger that makes this an even better deal! :) Found it tonight while looking through some printables from the past few weeks!

    • Lisa

When I click on the “printable” button to get the printable coupons for those items, the ones mentioned are never there. Why is that?

    • Sharon

Can you get the ECB rewards more than once in a week – that is if you buy $60 worth of eligible goods, would you earn 2 $10 ECB coupons?

      • Tiffany

I think usually it says one per household card. My question is, if I get the $10 ECB (and that’s my one per household card), can I then participate in another ECB sale in the same week?

        • jensqps

Yes, as long as you don’t go over the “limit” CVS sets for each ECB deal that week.

    • Emily

If you do the deal as above your amount before coupons is $30.96, which is over the $30 needed. At my CVS coupons do not count towards the total. Which I would think that an individual CVS could not change that since the system automatically prints the deal once it it reached. The only time that an employee would have to force the system to print the ECBs would be on a raincheck or if they are substituting something they are out of.

      • jensqps

The $30 total must be reached before tax in order to get the ECB. This is why Jenny has us purchasing the Dawn. You are correct about coupons not counting.

    • spi_cy13

Can someone tell me what the total square footage of the Charmin Ultra Soft 20 rolls and the Charmin Ultra Strong 20 rolls at CVS? I’m trying to see whether I should buy the t.p. from Target or CVS this week. Target is offering a $1/1 Charmin Target coupon and a 5% off Charmin cartwheel coupon (I don’t think Charmin is on sale at Target this week, but the Target coupons are a little hard to pass by).

    • katiesmom

Jenny – does your comparison to your Sam’s club prices take into account the number of sheets per roll for the paper towels and toilet paper. The kirkland brand of paper towels at costco, for example,

has 160 sheets per roll &it looks like bounty is only 56 sheets per roll so even with this deal, kirkland is still a better buy. I have been trying to beat costco’s prices on paper items and so far, no luck. Anyone have any tips? thx!
